Error code -43 - unable to get file path when burning DVD

I just installed Tiger on my son's iMac 500. Borrowed a Lacie DVD r/w and tried to burn the contents of a user folder to a DVD-R. It burned part of it, but failed with the following error:
The operation can not be completed because one or more
required items an not be found. (Error coed -43).
Could not open the dat fork of "<unable to get file path>" (-43).
I was able to burn a CD on the drive, but that was for another user directory that fit on a CD-R. The folder I was trying to burn to the DVD was about 1.1 G.

Workflow: create doc using links; when finished, embed all images then unembed to new folder to consolidate. then simply resave the ID CS3 file using the new links. sadly, having embedded, i was unable to save. so, i closed without saving. Now i am unable to open the file.
no problems before embedding, now get "error code 5, unable to open..."
I am painfully aware (now) that this is a bad workflow, as am i aware of several ways to improve this workflow. I do not need advice on a better workflow, i already know i did a stupid thing. i need help on how to recover the damaged file. quick. please. :)

Unable to obtain full screen when burning DVD

I have a trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements
8. When burning dvd and then playing on my tv through dvd player I am not getting a full screen. The wide screen video covers about 3/4 of the screen instead of the entire screen. The settings I am using are NTSC widescreen dolbyDVD, and Quality is checked with no changes in quality. The preview screen is set on a magnificatgion fit. The Video is centered on the preview screen. I have spent hours trying to resolve this problem? I have a trial version and not sure if want to purchase with this problem.
I tried to upload the 8.01 up grade and my computer just blinks on and off; will not load?

I have been having the same problems. See my discussion threads on aspect ratios in the past few days.
Let me share my thoughts on this. Apparently Elements 8 is optimized to work on 4:3 CRT TV's; HD flat screen TV's must not have made much penetration in India yet. So when you set the output for NTSC widescreen, what Elements does is compress the widescreen data into a 4:3 frame, squeezing the image horizontally. Counterintuitively, what you have to do is select NTSC normal. Then Elements does not further squeeze the widescreen data. What it then does is fit it into a 16:9 letterbox, still containing the left and right bars, within the 4:3 frame. Set the DVD to playback in widescreen mode, which expands the letterbox image to full width of the TV, though retaining the left and right bars, then zoom the TV image to full the screen, to eliminate all the bars top, bottom and sides. Worked for me, but I used a SD camcorder set to record in widescreen.
A better option might be to change the default pixel aspect ratio, which I am yet unable to effectuate.

How do I get file paths when hovering over a file name in Mountain Lion?

In Snow Leopard I used to be able to hover over any file name and immediately get a file path in a small yellow window. What has happened to this feature in Mountain Lion?

I don't know what has happened to the yellow window that would appear if you hovered over any file showing the path of the file. It was simple to see the path with this window that appeared and disappeared if you moved the cursor.

I am burning a DVD that has 10 slideshows. Each slideshow is treated as a chapter. I have burned DVDs in the past using this method with no problems. Now, with this project I get the following.

This error came up again (the first time i had to rebuild), and i figured out that it had to do with a clip i had in a timeline that needed trimming, and would not butt up cleanly to the preceeding clip. i am assuming that the chapter point i inserted did not fall on a GOP, and generated this error.
when i took that clip out of the timeline and put it in it's own seperate timeline, the disc burned with no problem.
hope this help someone else skip the frustration i had.

Could not open the data form of " unable to get file path " (-43)

I am trying to backup my wife's home directory. I've tried twice and ended up with costers each time. One with a DVD and another with a CD-R. I did try to backup some of the folders in her ~/Libray folder, could that be the problem?

If you have FWHDs hooked up to both machines, why are you trying to backup to disk? You're better off just dragging the Users folder to the ext FWHD.
BTW, fnfErr = -43, /*File not found*/, but I don't know why you'd get that error message putting files into a disk image or using Finder's find.

What is best method for getting most capacity when burning DVDs?

Supposedly there's 4.7 gigs on your average one layer DVD that you get in a spindle at the office supply store, but I've never got that much on one.
This Apple error message is frustratingly backwards and rediculous:
"Files 001 is too large to fit on disc. Remove some files and try again."
I don't want to take files out one at a time and try again and again and again and again. I want the exact amount of space available when I insert the DVD. Is this too complicated for a computer company like Apple to figure out?
What do you guys do to streamline? Partitions? How big? TIA!

You are falling for the same old Madison Avenue hype that affects all computers and computer storage devices. Salesmen think that a megabyte is 1 million bytes, but in reality, all computers consider a megabyte to be 1024,000,000 bytes. This leads to the common problem of not actually getting 80GB with an 80GB drive (actually formats to something like 74GB). A 1TB drive actually formats to 931GB.
A 4.7GB DVD actually holds 4.37GB of data. A Dual Layer 8.5GB DVD (sometimes referred to as DV9) actually holds about 7.9GB of data. In addition, a very small portion of every disk is used to keep track of the files on the disk.

Please tell us what burner you have. Look in System
Profiler > Hardware > Disc Burning.
You're using the Finder to burn?
A Google search on this error code turns up a lot of
topics. Some point to the media as the culprit,
others point to Tiger, some to the drive itself.
Fuji isn't a bad brand of media, but it's not
amongst the best, either.
Generally, an older burner can use 16X media, but
would obviously only be able to burn at the maximum
speed of the drive. It's possible that your drive
doesn't recognize the media code on the disc and
refuses to burn. Sometimes a firmware update to the
drive can solve this problem.

i have 9.2.0.7 db runs on SLES9 on host A. and i take full rman database backup to make a new database on different host ( host B ) with different file structure. ( sid is the same ) i had already 1 database on host B. after this duplicate now there are 2 database on host B.
i take daily full database rman backup on the new host for my new database and there is no problem. when i try to take extra full export backup i get an error ;

Does anyone have a clue wats wrong?

The builder is missing the C compiler and the linker from Microsoft for the emulator target.
On my system they are located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft eMbedded C++ 4.0\EVC\wce420\bin. Check on your computer.
I couldn't find a place where to set this path (remember: I have 7.1, 8.0 may support this settings, although it's not likely).

After running adstrtal.sh with error code 0, unable to login

Dear All
I have successfully installed 11i on SLES 9. After installation, i was able to run the script adstrtal.sh successfully as root with error code 0. I get the home page with out any problem. When i tried to logon to the application, i get the following error message on the browser, when i click on the log on link on the application home page.

Error: sp2-0310 unable to open file c:\desktop\oracle\table.sql

I am not able to open any files that I have downloaded and put into a file path. I keep getting the error sp2-0310 unable to open file. I made sure to save my files in a path with no spaces. What can I do to resolve this error message.

As already said, you need to verify you've really got the correct path. After that, you can also check to see that the file name is really table.sql. If you created the file in a simple text editor, sometimes the editor will append .txt to the file name. But if you have "Hide Extensions" turned on in Windows Explorer, then you wouldn't see the .txt extension. Check the file name and make sure it really is as you think and doesn't have another extension on it.
Finally, how are you trying to use the file in SQL*Plus? If the path and file name are correct, you should be able to do this:
SQL> get c:\desktop\oracle\table
and it should bring up the file into the SQL*Plus buffer. Or, you should be able to use:
SQL> @c:\desktop\oracle\table
to execute the contents of the file.
If you are simply using:
SQL> @table
then you could add the SQLPATH environment variable to point to c:\desktop\oracle and that would allow you to skip entering the path.

Load error code 3 unable to load front panel

Hi all,
Wrote a vi in 8.6 and saved it for 8.5 for collaborators. When they run it up pops the error code 3 unable to load front panel. Memory full. see attached picture.
Has anyone any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Attached is the code (zipped). Excuse the bulkiness of the block diagrams. It basically controls a rotation stage and makes an avi at specific times/angles. The motor stage is ActiveX controlled.
As I don't have access to the hardware I am writing semi-blind. However, when I did visit them and had a quick look at the code I could get it to work by quickly including the subvis into a new main vi and obviously compiling it in 8.5. (may be onto something here!)
Different versions of the labVIEW -> doing a group a favour; I have v8.6 they have v8.5, wrote it in v8.6 saved it for v8.5. I don't have v 8.5. I also have v 8.2.1 on a different machine. Saved it for v8.2.1 and it opened no problem in 8.2.1. Will send this version on and see how they get on. More likely to be forward compatible???
I agree that the optimal situation is 1) use the same version of labview and/or
2) they get someone to do their coding on-site!!!!
I think the corrupt front panel object could be true given that I could get it to work when the subvis were included in a new main vi on-site.

Error Code -17400; Unable to create thread

Running TestStand 4.0. Test sequence calls many sequences that run as new executions and runs fine for up to about 8 units testing simultaneously. After that, I get a run-time error code -17400; Unable to create thread. There are no other details available. The steps that generate the error are able to create the new executions initially, but eventually fail once about 22 executions are running. I am monitoring memory resources and there does not appear to be any issues. Any troubleshooting suggestions? Thanks.

My test sequence has several test groups, each of which contain loops that create new threads (tests) for 48 UUTs. Thus the number of running threads does get very high. I was running into problems with Windows XP GDI Object resources once the number of threads reached about 200. I then modified my program into smaller test groups to keep the number of threads at any time to less than 150. GDI resources are no longer an issue, but the error -17400 unable to create thread happens after the first test group has completed and the second test group is just trying to run. Note that the second test group runs fine if I skip the first test group, so the sequence itself should be okay. I thought it might be a memory issue (even though there are no apparent memory issues seen in Windows Task Manager), so I set the "Unload after step executes" property for each of the new executions created. That did not resolve the issue.
I am trying to create a simple sequence to duplicate the error without using any of the actual test sequences that require test hardware, but have not been successful thus far.
