  • "Can't Load Display Bundles", error code -8076

Hi, I'm a college student who has had my Macbook Pro for about a year now and I've had no issues with it until now.
Recently, it has been doing some strange things.... running slower, freezing up, not starting correctly, keyboard malfunctioning, etc.
The biggest problem has been concerning saving/moving files, however. Whenever I try to move a file to or from my desktop to another folder on my computer, the load bar with the message "Preparing to move item A to folder B" and stays there indefinitely. When I try to cancel the function, it says that it's stopping but the bar remains until I eventually have to restart my computer.
I can't rename folders or files on my desktop either, it just pops up with a message about error code 8076.
The last big thing that's been worrying me is that my HD is nowhere to be found on my desktop, my finder, etc... I can pull it up through spotlight, but when I try to trace the path the message "Can't load display bundles" pops up in bright red font.
I'm not an expert with computers, and I'm not sure if any of these problems are related in any way, but I would love any advice. I figured I would see if I can find the answers on my own before I take it to any kind of tech support. Thank you!
    -Jessica

Sound like the OS, the Operating system OS X, is getting corrupted and along with the hard drive. I suggest you take it to an Apple Genius Bar to be looked at.

  • An unexpected error occurred (error code -8076)

Can't find this anywhere in Google
I tried to set permissions to my drive "Apply to enclosed items..."
    I get this error:
An unexpected error occurred (error code -8076)

Select the volume icon in the Finder and open the Info window. Click the padlock icon in the lower right corner of the window and enter your administrator password when prompted. Uncheck the box at the bottom marked
    Ignore ownership on this volume
    Close the Info window.

  • What is error code -8076?

I have to enter my password many more times now than when I upgraded to Mavericks 9.4.  I tried to change the privileges on my hard drive from the Get Info window, so that 'everyone' will change from 'Read only' to 'Read & Write'  but I receive the message "An unexpected error occurred (error code -8076)." What is this? What do I do about it? And, how can I stop the request for password every time I move an item to the trash?

It's normal to be prompted for a password when making changes to most files outside your home folder. If you're prompted when making changes inside your home folder, see below. Never empty the Trash in the shell. It's dangerous and unnecessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

The TIme Machine volume does not have that checkbox.
I think the issue is with your Finder...
Go to Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences trash these files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

  • What does error code 8076 mean?

My Mac Pro has not worked properly since upping to LION.  After upping Memory to 2.5 G  it did better.  Even put in a new Harddrive.
However it has gotten progressively worse, so I put in the Avasti Free Anti-virus to see if it was Malware or virus.  It alleged to find 5 viruses,
however it has progressively gotten worse to   Freezing,  Hangning, and preparing back up everything to DVD disks and wipe it all out, I am
unable to put unneded items into the trash,  uninstall Avasti, or empty the trash in order to ensure that I only get the absolutely necessary
items and not back up anything questionable.
I just got this  Error Code 8076,  but nothing shows up on this support list with this number, and I cannot understand this indept single
    numbers mean  x, y. z  stuff I did see.
Anyone have an idea as to what is going on because I do not want to connect t iCloud when I reinstall.  Frankly I onlly want to get back
to Snow Leopard and not Lion.

  • HT2963 How can I fix permissions problems now that I have changed permission on my HD and have error code -8076, locked disk or ....?

iMac v10.7.4. Error message says disk is locked. Permissions set for read/write admin (me). Can't open iTunes, Mail, photoshop, adobe bridge [you do not have permission!]. Fonts in Word are unexpected, not cambria. Used Disk utility to repair permissions (ran it twice, once before reinstalling photoshop from DVD; once today). Situation worsening.

Permissions problems occurred after I downloaded Lion update on 6092012. I believe the  problem originates with  Lion (see the 19 pages of posted problems in the community). I have now talked with Apple Support rep and an Apple Genius. Have reinstalled Lion from the HD Recovery disk. I see some improvement but also at least one  new problem: TimeMachine apparently has lost all backups, don't know how or why. Will have to take machine to a mac specialist or wait for Mountain Lion to arrive. Lion is a bad cat.

  • Cannot delete file from external hard drive (error code 36) in Finder, but Terminal is ok

I have a relatively new Macbook Pro Retina 15" and have a Western Digital 1 TB Passport.  I've been using the passport for about a year now without any problems on older Macbooks in my house.  I used to be able to read and write to this drive no problem.  I am using the Paragon NTFS for Mac software in order to read and write to the NTFS drive.  When I navigate through the drive in Finder, if I try to create a new folder, I do not have a problem.  If I try to delete that folder I just created, I get this error:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “untitled folder” can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)
The folder has nothing in it whatsoever.  I just created it.  But if I go to Terminal and I run
    rm -rf "untitled folder"
This works fine.  Why is Terminal acting different than Finder?  This does not happen on my other Macbooks.  Thanks in advance.

Thanx for such qucik reply!!! The pages were great, it had an answer for my problem, but unfortunately it also involved me dealing with it only on the MacIntosh HD itself, not on mounted external drive I suppose... So it didn't work they say that there is an icon in the left corner indicating locked folder - I don't see any icon on it. It says you can untick the box to unlock the folder - there is no tick to be unticked. Finally, they say that if I don't have permition or rights I cannot delete it. But how do i change permittion which already says that i can read and write in it? So everything appears to be normal only I cannot delete it. there is not even any warnig telling me I don't have enough rights, it just requires the password and after me typing it in it makes the sound of scraping paper but does nothing more. I aslo had some problems with emptying Trash after being seemingly succesful with one file and had got so far to have them appear in the Trash (no clue how this one actully got there though..) I followd the advice and emptied the Trash with Terminal. The Folder is still there but it shows 0 Kb... So far so good BUT: It is still on the external drive, so I obviously only managed to copy it into the Trash!!! Phew, innit a bit too tight to poor owners, this macbook?? I want my rights back!

        How to fix it?

Hm, it looks like the file might be open in another application. If you see that file accesss is intermittently denied, you should try disabling the Microsoft FindFast utility.

  • There was a recent upadate on my PC, however it does not work. A error code comes up which says, min version is not compatible with max version. And I caanot open my browser. Please help.

I do a system restore which allows me to open my browser. Without this I cannot open my browser - the error code comes up every time.

    Do a clean (re)install
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

i know the issue,i can give quick fix, but in-order to make sure you don't get another glitch like this.
I would recommend, you to install the scheduler in another schema or another db.
Re-installing the scheduler schema tables will fix this.
