Error code: [JavaScript Application] TypeError: Components.classes[componentid] is undefined.
I get this error when starting Firefox, or when opening a new window. When I close Firefox, or close the new window, I get a different error message: [JavaScript Application] ReferenceError: m_caFxTBobj is not defined
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
* [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
* [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
If you haven't done yet then you should create a new profile exclusively for the 4.0 beta version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch that profile.

I seem to have screwed up my Firefox, I guess. Whenever I go out of Firefox and try to come back in, I get that message, I click on OK and everything is fine again until I close our Firefox and try to return... What's the problem?

Hello
I've been running Firefox 3.6.16 with no problems at all, and this morning decided to upgrade to Firefox 4.0, as the developer of the them I use, Foxscape, has upgraded it to work with 4.0. The installation appeared to be as normal, but when I launched 4.0, the following error message appeared: error "when launching firefox 4.0 TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined". The browser launched, but while I could go to webpages if they were in my bookmarks, so no problems with my internet connection, but when I typed in a URL (for example google.co.uk) and pressed "go", nothing happened. Similarly, when I tried to go to add-ons, it was as if I hadn't clicked anything. I wondered whether it was an issue with Foxscape (although I've never had any problems before when upgrading, as the standard theme just appears) so I reverted to 3.6.16, switched the theme to standard, then tried upgrading to 4.0 again. The same thing happened, so I'm positive it's got nothing to do with Foxscape.
I run Windows Vista Home Edition on a Dell Inspiron. I also have IE 9 installed (I installed it a few weeks ago, and it's been running fine with 3.6.16). I've never had any problems with Firefox before; I'm very keen to upgrade to 4.0, and would appreciate your help in fixing this.

I wanted to install the Google toolbar extension, so I installed Add-on Compatibility Reporter 0.9.2. Then I installed the Google toolbar extension. When I restarted my computer I got this message. The Google toolbar did not work, so I disabled it thinking that would correct the problem. How can I get back the ability to print webpages. Thanks

In addition to the error message upon startup, the Enter key does nothing when I type a URL in the search bar; I have to click on the green arrow everytime to navigate to new pages. My about.home page is also empty when the program starts except a blank search bar in the center with no text anywhere around it. I installed 4.0 twice to see if that would fix the problems, but it didn't.

It has an OK button. When I click it the program opens.
Why is this? How do I get rid of it?

What can I do about this:
After upgrading to firefox 6, I get this error.
When I click to open Firefox, A box open with the following error:
JAVASCRIPT Application
TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined?
After I click close on the box, then Firefox will start. I really just want to get the error fixed so that when I want firefox open, I don't have to see this box anymore.You need to figure out which add-on is causing that error and disable it until the developer of that add-on fixes it. There may be an error message about that in the Error Console, accessed through the Web Developer menu item or through {Ctrl + Shft + J}.

Error opening FF 8 "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is unidefined"
I've just upgraded from FF 3.6 to FF 8. Every time I open FF 8, I get this error dialog box:
[JavaScript Application]
TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is unidefined
I just performed the upgrade, so haven't used FF 8 enough yet to know if the error causes any problems.
