Error codes 4000 & 4251 downloading to CD

What I don't understand is: I have no problem downloading to CD a free podcast weekly, but when I BUY two podcasts and try to download them to CD, the download cancels, spits out cd and shows either error 4000 or 4251. I have XP Pro. Any suggestions?

I am having trouble burning my songs that I downloaded from ITunes. Have burned them once before and all went well but when I try to burn now all seems to go well and I can play the songs on my PC but at the end of the song I get a lot of odd noises and static. If anyone can help solve this problem it would be greatly appreciated. I have removed all item from running while I burn and it seems to make no difference. I am using Memorex media (CD-R) which is the same media I used with success the last time I burned with ITunes.

Please tell us what burner you have. Look in System
Profiler > Hardware > Disc Burning.
You're using the Finder to burn?
A Google search on this error code turns up a lot of
topics. Some point to the media as the culprit,
others point to Tiger, some to the drive itself.
Fuji isn't a bad brand of media, but it's not
amongst the best, either.
Generally, an older burner can use 16X media, but
would obviously only be able to burn at the maximum
speed of the drive. It's possible that your drive
doesn't recognize the media code on the disc and
refuses to burn. Sometimes a firmware update to the
drive can solve this problem.

Please help! I burned a CD just fine last week, and now when I try to burn, I am getting an unknown error code 4000. I googled the problem, and I have tried just about everything. The "include CD box is NOT checked," and I went into add/remove programs and performed the repair option. I also checked to make sure my drive is operating. Nothing seems to work. That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

No you misunderstood. In the iTunes burning preferences you can pick several choices such as an Audio CD, an MP3 CD, or a data disk. Which one are you burning?
As I said, if you are burning to an Audio CD (a plain old audio CD that can be played on any audio CD player), lower the burn speed to x8 or lower and try again.

I keep getting an error code -50 when I download music..it happens sporatically, about every third song I attempt to download. I have sent endless emails to suport..and no one has an answer--i've done the diagnostics and sent them to support--disabled my antivirus before downloading..Ive tried the check for purchases..nothing! the songs download to the point of "processing" then the error code pops up--I close iTunes and they just dissapear.the only thing on the hard drive I have ever found is files that will say "download" the do nothing if I import them to iTunes.Frankly, Im tired of losing music I wanted and can't re-download (as you can only download a song once-and even though its missing,it still shows in the purchase history)-I never have this problem if I get music from amazon.com. any ideas as to what causes this or how to fix it?

It returned a lot of hits, and apparently you're not alone in wondering what this error means. Lots of people reporting it as an error in iTunes, and also something related to 10.4.9. But in the event no one here answers your question, I suggest you do the search yourself, slog through the results, and see if anyone's come up with an explanation that fits your scenario.
