Error configuring Shared Services

I installed correctly Hyperion 11.1.1.3, but when I try to configure with System Configurator, it gives me an error for all applications in "Register with Shared Services".
This is the log in configtool_err.log.
Shared Services is not initialized. Please retry the operation. If problem persists, please check the database configuration. I stopped all the Hyperion services and I ran System Configurator again, now the Register with Shared Services was only near Workspace, and again it failed!
All the other configuration was ok.
Now I can use Administration Services and Excel addin but when I try Financial Reporting or Workspaces they don't work.
Furthermore I can create user directly from Administration Services so I think that the integration with Share Services failed (I haven't checked the Essbase standalone option).
If I check the configtool_err.log after the already seen "Shared Services is not initialized".
I notice

Does this means a problem with the database? In this case why all the "Configure Database" in the System Configurator was ok?
In financial Reporting it says again the "could not connect to GSM server" error but the all the services are up.

I can't proceed with the shared services configuration because in just the first page of it, I'm encountering the error Unable to check Shared Services database existence: an error occured.'
I believed the shared services is bundled with the foundation if I'm not mistaken, because I can't find any download related to it on edelivery site.
I tried to configure only the Foundation components but the '*Comman setting*' & '*configure database*' are grayed out so I have no option but to figure out first this shared services configuration.

I don't have any previous ver. of Hyperion. and i created a new database 'Orcl' for configuring the shared services and given the user name as 'hss'. i also tried to delete my old database and and reg.properties file from Hyperion Dir u suggested in some other post. but still its not working.
Today I have started again with fres installation of Windows Server 2003 oracle 11g EPM 11.1.3.
Also I m Installing this on VMware. I hope this is not the issue as i already installed Microsoft Loopback Adapter.

Error configuring shared services database

Hi. I'm new to Hyperion and all this installation activities. I've installed Hyperion EPM 11.1.1.3 successfully. My problem though is that when i tried to do the configuration, the error message states 'Unable to check Shared Services database existence: an error occured.'
I am using the MS SQL Server 2005 and it is the first time that I'll be configuring EPM. Also, I have already created my database.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Issue while configuring Shared Services 11.1.2.1

Hi All,
I am installting and configuring hyperion-64Bit- 11.1.2.1 (Essbase, Planning, FDM, EPMA) in a distrubed environment in windows 2008 R2 Server
Box1
I have sucessfully configured Shared Services, Essbase Administration Services.
Box2
I am at the screen of Setup Shared Services and Registry Database Connection associated with the instance home:
Here i give the
Database type: Oracle
Server : Servername
Port : Port Number
service Name or SID : Service name
User name : HSS
Password : Given the correct password here
and now when i click on next, nothing is happening, its just there its not progressing.. I have rebooted the server but still the samething. Its very wiered. Can someone help me what should it do.

Have you given all privileges as per below listing in Oracle Install-Config guide?
It says,
The following privileges must be granted to the owners of the database schemas:
CREATE ANY SYNONYM
CREATE CLUSTER
CREATE INDEXTYPE
CREATE PROCEDURE
CREATE SEQUENCE
CREATE SESSION
CREATE TABLE
CREATE TRIGGER
CREATE TYPE
CREATE VIEW
DROP ANY SYNONYM
UNLIMITED TABLESPACE
Did you have a look at configtool.log as to what errors its having ?
I think the reg.properties will get created if you have all sufficient rights on Oracle database user/schema.

Provider Services and Studio Errors in Shared Services

I installed and configured Shared Services version 11.1.1.3 on Windows 2003. After installing and configuring APS and Studio, I get an error in Shared Services when I click on the application. The error says "User is not authorized for the action" I am logged in as the admin and there are no other users. The system was JUST installed.
I have repeated this error on multiple systems using separate sets of install files.
The applications are running and fully functional.
Does anyone know if this is a cosmetic error or if this a functional error?
I've also noticed that there is no provisioning available in Shared Services for APS.
I can provide a screen shot. Ididn't see a place to include it here.

While installing Essbase System 9, i am not able to configure Shared Services. The default password, which i tried was 'password', but it was not taking?

In Configuration Utility, which i entered the details as follows:
Server: <System Name>
Port: 58080
User: admin
Password: password
After entering all these details, im getting the error message "the details are incorrect". With this im not able to proceed further.
By default system will show all the above details, only i entered was 'password'.

Configure shared services when installing hyperion planning

i installed oracle10.2 DB and shared services on windows(only installed DB and Shared Services!).
now use configuration tool to configure shared services(connect it to DB).
user:hypuser
password:XXX
but the error:
unable to connect to the database for the product Hyperion Shared Services
i thought maybe the user 'hypuser' dosen't exit yet. then i created it and make it DBA authoriry. and tried again. but still the same error.
do anyone know how to solve it.

1. have the user hypuser with the password
2. enter the correct hostname and port no for oracle
3. enter the correct sid

I'm having the same error message , but I was able to configure my HSS
Anyway, If I have all my Hyperion services running then suddenlly I get the error and I can not work any more with HSS
Maybe there is a limit in my connections or process or session in the database

i am configure the EPM system configurator 11.1.1.3 with SQL server it shows the error like "shared servie database not found in the specified database"

If you are using credentials other than the native ones, then you have to configure the user directories in the shared services. In the shared services console aadministration -> configure user directories.

I have the same problem with Hyperion 9.3.1 and Oracle 10.2.0.1 and Windows 2003 SP1
When I try to register Analytic Services I get the following messages in SharedServices_Metadata.log:

EPM 11.11.1.3 - trying to configure Shared Services against SQL2005

hello, any ideas is appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
I just installed EPM/Essbase and am now configuring all products. The first product, Shared Services is not allowing me to connect to the SQL database. In the EPM Configure window, I selected "Perform 1st time configuration of Shared Services database" then entered all pertaining entries, ie SQL 2005, the server, port, database name and user id/password. On clicking Next, I get "Login Failed for User ..."
the configtool_err.log contains the following:

Error in shared service 11.1.2.2

Hi John,
I am in using Hyperion 11.1.2.2 and when trying to give 'assign access control ' to an after login to shared services I am getting following error
Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.4.5 404 Not Found
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
Please suggest any suggestion.

It is possible that other EPM services are also in running mode on your server so please check if you have EPM services in running mode before rebooting server.
You can run Stop.sh script under <epm_oracle_instance>/bin to stop all the EPM services that are in running mode.
after running this script you can launch configtool.sh and check if you can proceed with configuration..

Unable to configure Shared Services

Hi All,
I am trying to install 9.3.1 on windows 2003 server, Using Sql server 2000.
I installed Shared Services, When I try to configure the database and Deploy the Application Server its trowing the following error:
"Unable to connect to the database for the product Hyperion Shared Services".
I checked that my database is up and running fine.
Please suggest how to resolve this issue.

EPMA error on Shared Services Console

Hi,
While accessing the EPM Architect on Shared Services Console, I found the below error message:
"Error: Unable to connect to "EPM Architect", ensure that the application is up and running and the user has the appropriate rights to access this feature."
I tried to resolve the error and referred John's reply for the thread Not able to start my Hyperion EPM Architect -Process Manager it very urgent But no luck.
Environment: Win 2003 SP2, SQL Server, Installed 11.1.2 EPM.

Can you log into EPMA without any issues.
Are you accessing shared services via workspace, if not try going that route and see.

Error at Shared Services 9.3.1 with Oracle 10.2.0.3 repository

After setting up the repository the Shared Services starts correctly at the first time, but when Shared Services starts at the second time, we receive the ORA-01722 error.

I Think it doesn't matter, but I'd used english.
