Error Configuring Update to Reader 8

My daughter is running Vista Home Premium on a 6 month old and up to date Sony Vaio laptop.
I am relying on her for this information and it is a bit vague. I believe she is running Reader 8 and was prompted to download updates which she did. She was then eventually taken to a page:-
Configuring Updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 0% complete. Do not turn off your computer.
The % does not change and after a whicle "Welcome" appears on the screen and then immediately "Shutting down." The computer then restarts itself. It then goes back to the Configuring Updates page and continues in this loop. Forcing shutdown and starting in Safe Mode or Command Prompt takes you to the same page and I can't find a way of logging in to be able to delete the Adobe Reader to start again.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Thank you,
Tim.

I may be wrong but this looks to me like the Windows Update system
(that is, updates from Microsoft, for Vista). This is certainly the
case if you get this message during shutdown.

  • I'm receiving an error message updating adobe reader, can you explain message and give assistance?

Adobe Reader automatic update to 10.5.8 will not load onto my Mac Yosemite. Error message is "Installer: Package name is Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10) Installer: Installing at base path / installer: The install failed (The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)
I would appreciate some assistance from the manufacturer as it says....
The update presented to me to upgrade to is 10.5.8, current version is 10.1.8 updated on March 8th. Why is there another update so soon??

OK, looking closer, it is saying I have 10.5.8 and it is trying to download Reader 11. However, my applications folder says my current version is 10.1.8.  The enclosed screenshot appeared when I clicked on a link in a "Proxy Statement" I received as a shareholder. The link was to take me to shareholder voting. It originated from my brokerage firm, so really unlikely it was spam link. So, when I went ahead and installed this I got the error message I posted in first email.
    Sorry if I confused versions....
Does this look like spam? If it isn't, why the error message??
    thanks

  • Errors installing update for Reader

I tried to install an update on my PC for Reader and received an error msg 1321 or 1301 about authority to access a file location. I uninstalled and reinstalled (tried) and now I have a blue screen and windows will not open.  I've tried several troubleshooting ideas and now will have to resort to taking it in to be looked at.  Now I have a msg on laptop to install an update.  I'm a little hesitent to do this.  Any ideas?

I do not think that an Adobe Reader update can cause a blue screen (BSOD); that is usually caused by a much heavier issue.  Did you install the update under an Adminitrator user?  If not, that could cause access violation errors.  But these could also have been caused by a damaged hard disk.
I wouldn't worry about the update on your laptop; go ahead and install it.

When i enter all the information for non Blackberry option as i would like to access through ipad, its giving me the error message" Error while updating the configuration files (MOB20003)" Please advise.

  • Error 1625 with Adobe Reader Update on Windows Server 2008 R2 OS

For the last two months when I receive updates to Adobe Reader 9.3 I get Error 1625:  Update failed.  Update not permitted by system policy.   But there is no system policy since this is a stand-alone machine.
Windows Server 2008 R2 is equivalent to Windows 7 OS but has some special security features.  If I could manually download and run this update and by pass the Adobe automated install I might be able to fix the problem by running the update "as administrator" but I think Adobe doesn't give me that choice.
I have uninstalled and re-installed Adobe Reader 9.3 but still get the same result when applying this update.
Adobe reader is working fine, so I would be happy also if Adobe just stopped trying to send me this update.
    Any suggestions?

I did.  When I posted my last response ending in "did not work"  I had a dashed line and
Adobe in there infinite wisdom interpreted that as an  end of message.   So here is the rest
of my last post which was cut off:
So I then tried ʇɐb ɹəuəllıʍ's  solution (the one above your suggestion) - downloading the updates to my desktop and applying them by hand.   That worked.
But this means I may need to download all future updates by hand for this computer.   It's great that ʇɐb ɹəuəllıʍ  posted links for these three updates above,  but I'm wondering how to easily automate getting download links for all future updates since I don't have access to the parent directory http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/.
Please suggest a way I can install all future updates by hand without requesting a special link.  In particular, when you download an update using  Adobe Reader "search for updates", where is that update saved so perhaps I could run it by hand instead of the automated way.

My Adobe Reader wouldn't download tickets.  Tried opening Adobe Reader application but it would not open.  I saw my Adobe Reader needed to be updated, so I attempted to install new Adobe Reader.  When it came to finalizing, it said there is an error and can't do.  Any ideas?  I have no functioning Adobe reader.  Should I uninstall old Adobe Reader and then try installing the updated AR?

(Had to step away & do things) I can't even open up the Adobe Reader application to uninstall; get message it won't open. And now have more things needing to be downloaded to print.  Any ideas on how to open the app, so I can uninstall.  I have a MAC OS X 10.9.4  When the installation initially failed I received this message from Adobe, " Adobe Reader Installation Error  Package name Adobe Reader xi (11.0.07)  Installer: installing abase path/installer: The install failed  (The install encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.  Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)  It did not specify what the error was

    Google Chrome is a problem:
if you use Chrome's own PDF viewer, the results are unpredictable.
if you use the Adobe Reader plugin with Chrome, it may reject (block) it if it is not the latest version.  Reader 11.0.08 is the latest version for Windows XP, but Chrome may insist on the current version 11.0.10.
My suggestion; use a different browser!

  • Invalid Color Space error after update Reader to 9.3.3

After updating Adobe Reader to 9.3.3 I run into the Invalid Color Space error when trying to open a PDF file created with CorelDraw 12 in the format PDF/X-1A.  This format needed by a printing office to print the file. The strange thing is that Reader opens older PDF files exported from CorelDraw in thsi format normally without the error message.
It happens only with PDF exports made after the Reader update. CorelDraw settings are as previously used.
Exports in other formats, other than  PDF/x-1, X-1A and X-3 open normally.  How to solve this??

    any suggestions?

Is there anything else beside the number 2203?
Try removing the current Reader using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, then install 11.0.07 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

When I was updating my Adobe Reader, I got an error message that said, "Error 1500 Update failed."

  • Error code 1200 when checking updates in Reader X (10.1.0)

Suddenly the Adobe Reader tells me I have to have administrator rights to check updates from the help menu. Never happened before.
If I run Reader as an administrator everything is just fine.
Not a big problem (I usually update Reader via Filehippo's Update Checker) but anyway: ???

I'm experiencing the same issue on two PCs.  Both are Windows 7 Home Premium (x64).  Both are running Adobe Reader 10.1.0.  Both have all Microsoft updates installed.  Both get the error 1200 when trying to update Adobe Reader.
The message in the AdobeARM.log file is the same... "Std User on Vista with UAC off - IsElevated returns 0."
Yet, UAC is actually turned on.  The OS is WIndows 7, not Vista.  And the user account (on both PCs) is an Administrator account.  (It is the default account created when you first unbox the PC and set it up).  I even verified it by going to user accounts (through the control panel) and it shows the accounts as administrator accounts.
Prior to Reader 10.1.0, I don't recall ever seeing this error.
I first tried an uninstall, reboot, and re-install Adobe Reader.  That didn't help.
I thought maybe it was my antivirus, so I disabled that.  No help there either.  I even went so far as to uninstall my antivirus (and reboot), but that made no difference, so I re-installed it.
I created a new account that was an administrator as well, logged in with that account, and tried the update.  Same error message.
It seems like the updater is not getting the proper UAC/user account info from Windows itself on WIndows 7 Home Premium (x64) PCs.
I have a Vista Home Premium (x64) laptop as well.  It has the same antivirus (Avast), same Adobe Reader (10.1.0), and all Microsoft updates installed.  UAC is on, and the account is an Administrator account. I don't get this error on the Vista laptop.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    DF
