Error connecting my Creative Zen Mosaic to my computer

When I try to connect my Zen Mosaic to my computer and install the hardware, I get this error: "Cannot Install this Hardware. There was a problem installing this hardware: MTP Device An error occurred during the installation of the device. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
I have tried changing USB ports.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the device.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Creative Centrale software.
I am running Windows XP with the Service Pack 3.
I do have Windows Media Player .
?I don't know what else to do. I don't have another computer to try it with at the moment.

:? I listed the error I get above. This is the error I get when I try to install the drivers through device manager and/or the hardware wizard. I can't find any other information aside from this. If there's another place to look, please let me know.

I did try formatting the device (although there is nothing on it yet because I haven't been able to get it to connect) I also rebooted it. I am hesitant to remove the firmware since I can't get it to connect to the computer. I'm not sure if I would be able to put the firmware on it again if my computer won't recognize it. And I'm not sure if the problem is my PC or the player. If it's my PC, I'd really be out of luck then!

I have had this lovely MP3 for a long time, but all the sudden, I cant connect it!
When I connect my Creative Zen Micro the computer doesnt respond.
I've tryid to go in to the Zen Micro Media Explorer, but it says: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro to your computer!" But I've already done that?
I dont know what to do, I cant transfer any music at all !

Basically you do the reverse of how you got it onto the player to begin with. You will open up mediasource, select the Zen Touch in the left hand source window, select PC Music Library on the right hand side. Select your songs and press the arrow pointing to the right.

Connecting a Creative Zen to MBP

When I connect my Creative MP3 player to my MBP nothing happens, however when I look in the System Profiler it shows up under the USB devices. How to I transfer files to it? It seems there is no OS X software on Creative's website to do this. Thanks

Run /Applications/Utilities/Disc Utility and see if it appears? Does the 'Mount' button light up or not?
It's probably formatted for PC's with Creative's version of the iTunes software on it I guess ? If you wipe the drive by Formatting you could then write files to it, but you'd have no software on there to play them with ...
i.e. bottom line is it's not compatible with iTunes/Mac OS if there's nothing on their web site to support this and you can't mount the drive.

Creative Zen - Transfering from the Computer to Zen. He

Hi there.
I've just got a Creative Zen and i've got a bit of a problem with it. Basically, i've transfered some music to the computer, but i can't transfer it to the actual Creative Zen. I've plugged the machine in through the USB but in Sources, it doesn't show up as an option. I tried looking on the Help area, but it didn't really...help much really.
Can anyone help me?

Is it possible to connect 2 Creative Web Cameras to one computer?

Hi all.
I want to connect 2 Web cameras to one computer and see li've video in two windows simultaneously. I have bought 2 identical LabTec Web Cameras, and when I connect to both cameras simultaneously the both video streams freezes.
Does anybody have any experience connecting 2 identical Creative Web cameras to one computer? Can they stream simultaneously without freezing?
I am planning to buy 2 Creative WebCam NX Pro, can they stream simultaneously without freezing?
Im using Windows XP SP2 and USB 2.0.

I have tried to connect to different Web cameras to the same PC - and that worked!
I have tried to connect to identical LabTec Web cameras to the same PC - and that did NOT work!
It looks like it could be a driver problem.
I am working on a litte robot project and in connection to that, I need two identical cameras simultaneously to take 2 pictures. I that way I can analyse the 2 pictures and calculate the distance to objects. But the two pictures MUST be as identical as possible - therefore I want to use 2 identical cameras.
I would like if anybody who has 2 identical Creative Web cameras could do this little test:
1) Connect 2 identical Creative Web cameras to 2 different USB controllers (WebCam NX Pro preferred)
2) Open "My computer"/"WebCam "
3) Open "My computer"/"WebCam 2"
4) Check that both windows shows li've video simultaneously
5) Reply the result and the camera model to me
I get bankrupt if I buy more cameras that I cannot use - so I hope anybody can help me.

Updating error when updating creative zen stone with Creative ZEN Stone Starter Pack 1.10

Im trying to update my zen stone(which im so glad i bought)with the update software app(new starter pack) that was released oct 22 07 ut am getting string errors.First i tried using the update software in media lite and i get string errors.
i quote : string id 2225 not found plus string id 2208 not found.
I tried installing a couple of time with no apps open and i get the same error. I also tried dloading the app from creative support site myself and when i try install it i get the same error.
The q Is there a problem with the new update or is it my pc.
I am using XP professional:52 Ram.
My current software version is .06.0.
The file im trying to update is ZENStone_PCApp_CLE_ L6_0_08(4.64 MB)
Id appreciate anyones feedback on this as id like to keep my player uptodate when it comes to critical updates like this.

Try going into "Control Panel->Administrati've tools" and clicking on "Computer Management". Find "disk management" in the left pane and click it. Your Stone should be in the right somewhere. I think you need to right click, then "choose dri've letter and paths" and give it a dri've letter with the "add" button. Let us know if that works.

Develop software for connecting to creative zen touch and other devices not recognized by wind

as a programmer i wonder, is it possible to obtain information of how to connect to usb-connected creative device (which is not recognized automatically by windows, as the zen touch) and how to communicate with it's is there any documentation about that available to "non-creative" ;-) developers?
the idea is to create a plugin (e.g. for musikcube) that enables the programm to access the files on the device.
i know there are third party companies that do provide software for connecting to e.g. zen touch, but i do not think that they have figured out every little bit by themselves, have they?

Try this:
Download <a href='http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=444' target=_blank>this[/url] file. Extract it to whatever folder you like. Inside that folder run the file fixup.cmd. A DOS window will open up and start display messages on what its doing, when its done it will instruct you to remove the device from Device Manager and reconnect it.
Try this and see if it works.

Screen failure on Creative Zen Mosaic

My screen quit working on my Mosaic. ?It lights up, but it has odd patterns and lines in it. ?I didn't drop it or anything, and I have no idea what to do. ?I have tried resetting and powering it off and on. ?I even tried to run down the battery and nothing works. ?It still plays just fine, but I can't make anything out on the display. ?The player is less than 3 months old. ?I emailed Creative's support desk 3 days ago, but they have not gotten back to me. ?Has anyone else had this problem?

This is good to hear. I am now on my third Zen, First I had a Zen Creative M, the screen died in about a years and one month. Then I got a Zen Stone, (figuring I'd get a new screened Zen later) but didn't miss the video feature that much..screen died in (again) one year..this time almost to the day. Looking through a jeweler's loop I could see a small micro-crack in about the middle of the screen..just like you, player worked fine but I had no clue where I was or ect. So then I got a Zen Creative..the screen was dead out of the box, luckily I was able to return it. I am also finding that almost no stores in my area carry the Creative line anymore. Since I'd spent the money at the store, I tried a mosaic, the only other product they had..it works, but has far less capacity than i wanted and I am less than happy I'll need to get accessories like a carry-case seperately.
This is the lsat time I purchase a Zen.. I regret that, because the reason I love the Creti've line is for the Zencasts.
This screen issue seems to be "Creative-wide" according to several big-box retailers I spoke to and they all recommended I get a different brand. I am very sad about the whole thing and disappointed in creative for cheapening the screens.

Connect my Creative Zen V Plus to my Panasonic Stereo SC-P

Indeed... when I connect my Zen to the USB port of my new Panasonic stereo, it doesn't work. A message "UNSUPPORT" appears on the stereo.
I have tried on others stereo at the shop and the same thing happens. At the shop, they told me it comes from my Zen, which wouldn't be updated.
So I've just downloaded firmware upgrade, and the problem?is still here.
Can?someone help me ?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the Zen and Zen V+ (maybe more, I only have these two) are not USB compliant memory devices. You must have Creative drivers loaded onto your reading device (meaning it will only work with computers that can have drivers loaded into them such as a PC or Mac). Welcome to the 990's (opinion).
About all you can do is plug the headphone output of the Zen to the audio input of your stereo (hopefully it has one). Too bad because over the last few years, most of the MP3 players out on the market (even the cheapest ones) act as a USB compliant memory device That way, they don't have to distribute a driver disk. You would have thought these would be the same, but maybe with further updateds, that will happen.

Help!! Cannot connect my creative zen to compu

Cannot seem to connect my MP3 player to the computer I have downloaded the cd and rebooted but when I connect the zen to the computer by the lead it doesn't do anything. The background lights up but it says not connected on the computer. Is the player supposed to be turned on or off when connected?
Please help me I feel so dense!!!

It should turn on automatically (so yes, it will be on). What happens when you turn the player on normally? Does it boot into the menu?
Is the player recognised at all on the PC, even as an Unknown Device?

TV Connectivity for Creative Zen Vision M 6

Hi all,?I'm trying to buy a new mp3 player, with some requisites. I'll use the player at home linked with my receiver as a kind of media center. I know that there's a dock station for the Zen Vision M 60GB. I saw also that there's a remote control (wired and another wireless remote I200). Is it possible to combine the dock and these remote controls to control Zen by the TV monitor? Could I see, for instance, the playlists on the tv monitor, or do I have to first choose the song or playlist in the Zen?If not, is there another company that makes something like that?I saw that the Ipod has something like that, because I have?a Denon receiver and Denon has a dock that allows al Ipod to be controlled in the tv monitor and the receiver remote control. Creative Zen Touch & Mac OSx comput

Hi, I have been given a Apple Mac OSx powerbook laptop.
I have downloaded my Creative Media Source onto my work computer (normal PC), but I tried to put the same disk into my laptop last night and it did not work. Is Creative compatable with Apple Mac? Does anyone know if i can buy a disk?

Hi Megan-
As far as I can tell the Zen Touch is not compatible with OS X right out of the box. At least I couldn't get mine to work on one.
But my Zen Nano Plus works in OS X.
If it's a new Mac you may have to look into installing Bootcamp and loading Windows XP on it to get it to work.

Files won't synch to my Creative Zen To

Everytime I connect my Creative Zen Touch to my computer to sync files from Windows Media Player it says that my device is using an 'outdated driver' and says to update the driver. I have now done so via the Creative website but the message keeps reoccuring despite the update.
My computer was recently taken away for repair and had to be wiped of most programmes, meaning I have had to reinstall Creative MediaSource and Windows Media etc, but I still don't see why my music files won't synch when I have updated the driver to the one recommended on the Creative site.
If anyone has an idea of what I can do that would be grand!

on itunes go to the summary page and click on the tv shows tab. check that the sync option is not set to only sync unwatched episodes and also check that its not set to only sync selected episodes of the tv shows on your pc. if it is click on it and select all and resyc your ipod. you should have all your shows on your ipod
