"Error Connecting to the server" What do i do?

Whenever i try to log in, a widow appears like this:
apparently there is an error with registration.
What should i do? I have tried this with many apple ID accounts and it doesnt work. The same occurs with my game center log in and face time as well...

HI,
I have seen one definite issue with this that has been identified.
When Computer have been refurbished or repaired the Serial Number goes missing.  (I was under the impression that Apple Store and other validated centers were supposed to flash the detail back to the Motherboard).
Some app use these details to increase the security around signing in.
If you have not got the right details it fails.
You can try Quitting IMAgent in the Activity Monitor and then relaunch Messages as this sometimes works.
Also Adding a Public DNS servers to your Network Settings seems to help (System Preference > Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab)
Google run 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but there are others if you search.

  • "Connection failed ... There was an error connecting to the server"

    Hi,
I have a late-2009 imac, running Snow Leopard and all the latest updates.
However, since ugrading to ilife '09, I now see the following error
    "Connection failed
There was an error connecting to the server
"BeechMac". Check the servername or IP address and then try again"
However, "Beechmac" was the name of the older G4 Mac from which I upgraded (using Time Machine) to the imac last year - and it no longer exists on the network.
As a test, I copied over to this Mac Mini (also latest OS and updates) all the iphoto directory prior to update and then updated to ilife '11 - same problem is seen.
I assume some files have some form of symbolic links to a networked partition ?
The only difference to my network/system has been updating to ilife '11 - and all I use is iphoto.
However, the error pops up every hour or so - and the mouse disappears and its tricky to gain mouse focus again to remove the message.
I've scoured the Internet - but no help.
    - Paul

I think I've identified the problem (or at least a solution).
There were broken Alias links for some of the photos in my iphoto directory.
I navigated Finder to the root of my iphoto collection and searched for "Kind: Alias"
I then checked (using Right-Click:"Get info") that the Alias was working (if not a broken Jpeg icon was shown), and if not fixed up.
It appears that in my system moves from taking photos from PC onto my original G5 Mac and then into iphoto (which had two partitions) some of the files had been aliased rather than copied. (Not sure exactly how this happened).
Anyway, I was able to repair the broken file by going into the Terminal and copying the required JPEG onto the Alias.
I wish there was an easier way to find broken Aliases - it was fairly tedious.

  • How do I get rid of the error message "There was an error connecting to the server “Office AirPort Extreme” ?

How do I get rid of the error message "There was an error connecting to the server “Office AirPort Extreme” ?  This message shows up 3 times when I boot my iMac.

I do have a USB hard drive hooked up to the Airport.  I've never created an AppleScript for it.  Should I disconnect the USB drive and see if I still get the error message?
    Thanks for your reply!

  • HT4519 I have a yahoo email account and i keep getting an "error connection to the server failed"

The email account i have always used on my ipad mini is through yahoo. Now i keep getting an error "connection to the server failed" when trying to access my email.

its a common message but could be due to several possible causes
    try this
close the mail app by double tapping the home button, swipe the screen until you see the large icon of the mail app.  Swipe the app up and off the screen to close. Tap the home button to return to home screen. Open mail app again.
    if that didn't work, then...
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings  (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
Unplug your wifi router for 5-10 minutes and at the same time reset settings on the ipad
    settings/general/reset/reset all settings
    (no data will be lost)

I can't get email messages anymore - it says "connection to the server failed." What can I do?

        mastafford,
I definitely want this error cleared up for you! When you get this error, is your phone using the cellular data or wifi data? Do you have any issues getting into your email via the web browser?

  • "Form cannot connect to the server" -- what to do?

Although 90+% of our users can submit FormsCentral forms just fine, some get stuck after hitting "Submit" and see an Adobe error page saying the form cannot connect to the server.  We love FormsCentral because our non-profit has limited technical capability ... what should we do or tell the user to do in these cases?
    Thanks!

For those users with problems submitting, do you know what browser version and operating system they are using?  Does your form contain any file attachment fields?  Can you provide a link to your form?  If you do not want provide this information in the forum, you can send it as an email using the Actions panel on the right.

  • Error "Connection Failed The server may not exist or is not operational..."

This is just FYI in case somebody else runs across this. On one user account, an error window would pop up every so often that said:
    Connection Failed
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
It turns out that the problem was caused by Screen Saver. The error popped up whenever screen saver tried to launch. On the problem account I had the "Pictures" folder selected for the screen saver, and apparently there must be an alias in that folder pointing to something on a remote server, because as soon as I go to System Preferences and open the Screen Saver panel, I get the error.
It has been driving me crazy for months but finally I thought to look in Console, where I saw the error "afp_mount[5045] CFLog (0): CFMessagePort: bootstrap_register(): failed 1103 (0x44f), port = 0x2d03, name = 'com.apple.afp_mount.ServiceProvider'"
Searching for that error led me to the Macosxhints forum at http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-53209.html where a user had posted the same problem. Changing to a different screen saver or a different folder for pictures resolved the issue.

  • I purchased an Italian hotspot to access internet on my American Ipad2 while abroad. I had no trouble connecting to the hotspot but when I try and access the internet it "cannot connect to the server". what does that mean and how can I fix it?

I am abroad for the summer and there is no internet available. I purchased a hotspot in a nearby vodaphone and they helped me connect the Ipad to the hotspot. I assumed I would have no trouble after that. Once I got home though and connected to the hotspot i found i could not open the internet without getting a notice about not connecting to the server. I have a signal and can connect to the hotspot and yet i get no internet. I already spent 50 euro on the hotspot for 2 months of wifi...is there a way to actually fix the problem without me having to spend more money?

I'm guessing e mail does not work either.  While the pad is seeing the network, it is not yet connecting, probably trying to work through your security set up.  I suggest you go to settings, then network, then the details of the network.  Do you see an ip address that starts with 192.168.1. Then some number? If not, the router has not made friends with the pad.
Suggest that from that same screen, you select 'forget this network'. Then start over again, paying close attention to what happens when you provide the security password.

  • TS3899 I tap on mail and I get a message that "cannot connect to the server" what does that mean and how do I fix it?

Cannot connect to the server.  What to do?

    Hey LauradellLaurawidder,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with mail on your iPad. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3899
Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
    1. Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.
              - Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
                        1. Try a different Wi-Fi connection
                        2. If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
                        3. If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
    2. Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    3. Restart your iOS device.
    4. Delete the affected email account from your device.
              - Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
              - Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
              - Add your account again.
    * If you are only able to use your email account while connected to your home network, this may be a limitation put in place by your email service provider. For further support, please contact your email service provider directly.
Additionally, if you are using a Gmail account you may find the following steps helpful:
