Error converting image, cannot create thumbnail, linux server nightmare

Hi there everyone
<br />
<br />Hope everyone is doing really well
<br />
<br />I have finally decided to try to fix a problem I have had for almost two years now
<br />
<br />I have read all the posts about this problem but I still cannot find the answer
<br />
<br />Every time I apply a show thumbnail server behavior I get this error
<br />
<br />Error converting image (create thumbnail). The "/home2/mysite/public_html/images/thumbnails/" folder has no write permissions.
<br />
<br />Which sounds easy
<br />SO I reset the file permissions on the image file and the thumbnail fil and I still get the same error over and over again
<br />
<br />really frustrating as it means I have to have an extra field in my database and in my upload forms to store a tumb sized image
<br />
<br />I have read in one post to create a new php file and paste this code
<br /><? phpinfo(); ?>
<br />then check if GD library is enabled it IS enabled
<br />
<br />I read in another post that I should change something in my php.ini file on my server .... but I CANNOT find the file and I don't know what how or what to change.....
<br />
<br />Has anyone actually got the show thumbnail behavior to work on a linux server
<br />
<br />I would REALLY appreciate any help solving this problem
<br />
<br />have a great day

Hi charis,
Error converting image (create thumbnail). The "/home2/mysite/public_html/images/thumbnails/" folder has no write permissions
SO I reset the file permissions on the image file and the thumbnail fil and I still get the same error over and over again
what write permissions value did you now define for the thumbnails directory ?
For every picture on my site I need to have three copies
One full size for the detail page
One thumbnail
One small picture , bigger than the thumb to display in a tooltip , when you hover over the thumbnail
please check Emmanuel´s excellent "Spry, ADDT & PHP Dynamic Images" tutorial, which tells you how to create a thumbnail image by using a Custom Trigger: http://www.grafikkaos.co.uk/article/39-Spry-ADDT-PHP-Dynamic-Images/

  • Error converting image     get error msg when trying to display thumbnail

    Hi there
    Me again
    I am having some problems displaying thumbnails
    I keep getting the error
    Error converting image (create thumbnail). The "...........public_html/productimages/thumbnails/" folder has no write permissions.
    So I go to my host and change write permissions on the files to 755 and try again and get the same msg
    Then I contacted my host and changed the permissions to 777 and I went to the includes config file and changed the permissions to 777 too and still does not work
    So I go to my cpanel and check all the files are set to 777 I make a new test page with a dynamic table and show thumbnail behavior and get the same error msgs
    So I close DW restart and try again and get the same msg.......
    So then I check the file permissions in the DW split screen window when connected to server..... I right click on some files on my server.... namely the 'thumbnails' file and check its permission and it is only set to 755 but in my host it is set to 777
    So I try to change ppermissions from DW and get the
    "setting access properties failed for: ' error
    So what is the correct permissiion..... 755 or 777?
    I have read two other posts on this forum and I still cant get to work
    Does anyone have any ideas
    I have used up all my options and most of my patience
    I hope I can get this working asap....
    Have a nice day

  • Installing Clamav: configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

    I want to install clamav-0.93.3 but i keep getting an error at ./configure
    This server doesn't have access to internet so blastwave isn't an option i think.
    Here is my config.log
    This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
    running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
    It was created by clamav configure 0.93.3, which was
    generated by GNU Autoconf 2.61. Invocation command line was

    The error appears when having the resizing or when displaying a thumbnail.
    Please help!!!!
    Thank you

    I am not a php guy but just trying to help out..
    1. check what u have configured in the control panel of ADDT for image resize.
    2. i have heard something called GD is used. or image magick.
    3. in asp i use image magic.
    the image resize will use some temporary directory..
    ur webserver will run as some account so ..
    it should have write permission on this temporary directory.
    and the library u specified it to use for resizing should also physically exist.
    and ofcourse the anonymous webuser account should be able to create process to resize this image.

    See `config.log' for more details.
    ==> ERROR: Build Failed.
    Aborting...
    I could not find the indicated config.log file.
    I installed all the dependencies indicated in the wiki, but I have a feeling I must be missing basic in my configuration.  Both gcc and base-devel are installed.  I've also run makepkg as root.  What amI doing wrong?

    /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/4.6.2/cc1: error while loading shared libraries: libcloog-isl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    cloog provides libcloog-isl.so cloog /usr/lib/libcloog-isl.so.3 and cloog /usr/lib/libcloog-isl.so.3.0.0 but not libcloog-isl.so.2.
    Edit: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 35#p983435
    If your system is fully updated, maybe you're using some custom packages, like glibc https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 51#p845851

  • Issues installing ruby 1.9.3 - error: C compiler cannot create executables

    I am trying to install ruby 1.9.3 on my Macbook pro but I've run into a wall.
    Here are the essentials;
    OS: OS X 10.7.3
    Xcode: 4.3
    When I run the rvm command I get the following...
    "rvm install 1.9.3"
    Fetching yaml-0.1.4.tar.gz to /Users/vindigo/.ram/archives
    Extracting yaml-0.1.4.tar.gz to /Users/vindigo/.rvm/src
    Configuring yaml in /Users/vindigo/.rvm/src/yaml-0.1.4.
    Error running ' ./configure --prefix="/Users/vindigo/.rvm/usr"  ', please read /Users/vindigo/.rvm/log/ruby-1.9.3-p125/yaml/configure.log
    Compiling yaml in /Users/vindigo/.rvm/src/yaml-0.1.4.
    Error running 'make ', please read /Users/vindigo/.rvm/log/ruby-1.9.3-p125/yaml/make.log
    Database file /Users/vindigo/.rvm/config/packages does not exist.
    Installing Ruby from source to: /Users/vindigo/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.3-p125, this may take a while depending on your cpu(s)...
    ruby-1.9.3-p125 - #fetching
    ruby-1.9.3-p125 - #extracted to /Users/vindigo/.rvm/src/ruby-1.9.3-p125 (already extracted)
    ruby-1.9.3-p125 - #configuring
    Error running ' ./configure --prefix=/Users/vindigo/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.3-p125 --enable-shared --disable-install-doc --with-libyaml --with-opt-dir=/Users/vindigo/.rvm/usr ', please read /Users/vindigo/.rvm/log/ruby-1.9.3-p125/configure.log
    There has been an error while running configure. Halting the installation.

    Another suggestion I received was to use the following command...
    "rvm install 1.9.3 --with-gcc=clang"
    but I get the same results.
    At this point I've exhausted my options and I am not sure what to try next, other than starting from scratch and reloading the entire OS.
    Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Phew!  That was harrowing.
    Found this, and it solved the problem.  Refreshingly, it was written in English and done well at that!
    http://pragmaticstudio.com/blog/2010/9/23/install-rails-ruby-mac
    Follow all the instructions.  The main missing ingredient for me was downloading the developer tools for the command line from Apple.  I had to register there, but it was free. These tools seemed to install the compiler where it was needed.  You might need a github something or other, I don't know.  I think I downloaded it as some point.  Anyway, I did everything this author told me, and now I have my first rails app!  Good luck - Joel

  • Editing Error - This Image cannot be rendered for editing...

    Editing Error - This Image cannot be rendered for editingbecause Aperture doesn't support the image format.
    Thats the message that appears when I'm exporting to Photoshop CS5 (I tried CS4 too), or even other Plug-ins such as Silver Efex Pro...
    That had never happened before, and I use Aperture for over 2 years.
    Its RAW image format from the same camera and all, nothing has changed. just randomly decided not to export anymore to other programs, Regular exporting works, so it's nothing to do with exporting it self, but the communication between aperture and other softwares, I think.
    I've seen some other people having the same problem, does anyone have a take on it, in how to solve this? I can't edit anymore outside of aperture. (of course not including the idea of exporting and doing everything away from aperture, which is totally not viable with the amount of content to be edited and not being in aperture anymore.)
    I've tried deleting the preferences, tried repair permissions of the Library, and still didn't work.
    Didn't go to the other 2 options (repair and rebuild database) because it would take days if chosen, and still not sure that would solve. or if has anything to do with.
    Any light anyone?

    What kind of file is it? (i.e.jpeg, Canon RAW, Nikon RAW etc..)
    As a workaround until you get the issue fixed, why not reimport the image from the original file, lift and stamp any adjustments you've made in Aperture, and see if the same problem occurs?

    I'm stumped. This is Mac OS 10.6.5 Snow Leopard; 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo; 4 G RAM.
    gcc2.95.2.pkg installed.
    X11SDK.pkg installed
    This all began when I moved to to MacBook from my old iBook.

    The Snow Leopard install CD has a sub-directory "Optional Installs" which holds a package "Xcode.mpkg". Installing Xcode.mpkg fixed my problem. My compiler is running fine now.

    ctags comes Mountain Lion. If you wish to download and install a newer version, it compiles perfectly. I don't know what problem the original poster had. If you are having specific problems, I suggest you post exactly what problems you are having in your own thread in the Developer Forums.

  • Error: C compiler cannot create executables [SOLVED!!!]

    hi,
    i am trying to make an evolution package that includes support for a palm pilot. i got the PKGBUILD file from somebody else and copied it to a directory. In that directory I then executed
    makepkg
    and tried to compile it. It goes pretty smooth until it complains about the following thing:
    error: C compiler cannot create executables
    i dont really know how to solve that problem and any help would be appriciated.
    thanks

    Try the basics...
    Create a file with the following text:
    #include <stdio.h>
    int main() {
    printf("Hello world");
    return 0;
    Save the file has hello.c and compile it with
    gcc -Wall hello.c -o hello
    and see if you get any errors... you might be having issues with packages like glibc or gcc that would maybe need to be reinstalled
    Normally, if it claims that gcc can't create exec's, you should see an error before that warning that would tell you what the problem is

  • I cannot create an Application server connection in Oracle JDeveloper 11 g

    Hi,
    you can start the Jdev by command line and then see the log that it is generating. Maybe there you can see the problem that is happening.
    Also you can check if the server is running with
         telnet hostname 7001
    Some possible reasons
         you have a firewall blocking the connection
         did you check /etc/hosts file entry ? should be something like this <ip address of host > hostname1
    Cheers
    Augusto

    I'm getting this error "duplicate keys found". I'm finished installing the central instance and during the database instance, i got this error. I'm installing BW 3.5 on x64 windows server 2003 platform. I'm using NU kernel 6.40.
    Thanks for your suggestions on how to resolve this error.
    Reward points guaranteed.

    Issue solved by deleting central and database instance and started a new build. it finished without an error.
    Thank you.
