  • Bad PDF; could not read page structure. Bad PDF; error in processing fonts: unsupported Type2 font

    I created a "form" in MS Word using a table with blanks for where the fill-in fields are supposed to go. I converted the file to PDF, and then I tried to use the PDF Forms maker with the automatic field detection feature (Acrobat 8 Pro) but I keep getting the error "Bad PDF; could not read page structure. <Bad PDF; error in processing fonts: unsupported Type2 font> [1]" What could be causing this? Is there something I need to do in Word to make the field recognition work? The field recognition has worked with other PDFs that I have not created in Word. I'd rather not have to create each individual field myself, if I don't need to. I thought this was a great feature when I have used it on other PDFs, but I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong on forms I am creating myself in Word.<br /><br />I am using a MacBook with Leopard, all updates installed, Office:MAC 2008 and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.<br /><br />Thank you in advance!

    I got where you were going with this, so I printed with the Adobe 8.0 printer and then I was able to use the auto field detection. THANKS!!

  • Could not read definitions; no read definitions permission for table

    We have a hand punch (time clock) that is maintained in Access.  This is a 3rd party product, I believe I'm having a permissions problem but the vendor says we should be able to read the data as a guest account.  I select the database push the >> arrow and on all but two tables I get:
    Database Connector Error: DAO Error Code: 0xc26
    Source: DAO.Fields
    Description Could not read definitions; no read definitions permission for table or query 'AbsenseT'
    (Table name changes with each table of course.)
    After clicking through 30 some tables two of them are selected.  I can browse them etc.
    Vendor has pushed out of his court saying its a Crystal problem but I believe its a permission problem especially since I can access those 2 tables but I need someone to confirm that for me or just tell me I'm wrong thats OK too. Any help as to why this is happening would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Randy

    Hi Randy,
    I believe CR will log in as Admin for the top level but we don't support the second level of security. As you can see we only one one level of prompt.
    ODBC may be a work around for you...
    Thank you

  • Help! Message "pdf could not be saved because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to a different l

    I had the contents of my (dying) ibook transferred onto my emac. The tech created a new user/desktop on the emac. Now, when I try to open PDF files from a website, I get a drop down window saying this:
    "Downloading - users/myname/desktop/xxxxx.pdf could not be saved because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to a different location."
    Points to note: 1) The "xxxxx.pdf" part of the above message changes each time I try to open a pdf document, even the same one, and it does not show the real name of the document (e.g. CollegeApplication.pdf). The xxxxx.pdf is usually written as gibberish, like "86hgkjh.pdf" or "sdfj99f.pdf."
    2) this never happened on my laptop;
    3) the settings are set in Firefox to download pdf's to my desktop;
    4) I have the latest version of Adobe Reader, which I already tried opening before downloading;
    5) the settings are also set to open pdfs using adobe.

    I had the same problem when I installed Firefox 3, but I think the problem is due to my recent hard drive upgrade. Try changing the download location from "Desktop" in Microsoft Internet Explorer and all other browsers (Safari, Firefox, etc.) to whatever default location you prefer. I never use Internet Explorer, but I think somehow my settings were corrupted when I upgraded my hard drive. I found this solution on another site also.

    I get the following error everytime I download something from the internet:-"/Users/vinaypunjabi/Downloads/Ontario Colleges Chart(2)(1).pdf could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred.  Try saving to disk first and then opening the file".
    Then it shows as downloading failed.But if I click on it twice ,it opens up .
    this has started happening since last week.Before this ,it never happened.
    Please suggest what has gone wrong somewhere and how can I rectify it.

    Please install the following add-on to see if it helps.

  • What action dom i take for this error message "C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\physics.pdf could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences"?

    I get this message when I try to download a pdf file from a website.
    "C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\physics.pdf could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences."
    This is a new error. There used to be no problem.

    Do you have any setting for MP3 in Tools > Options > Applications ?
    You usually need the QuickTime plugin to play MP3 files on Windows because that is the only plugin that supports that file extension if there is no MIME type specified to play the file with another plugin like Windows Media Player or RealPlayer.

    Got a link to the site that has the PDF? Sounds like it's being dynamically generated but there could be something wrong.

    Hi newipoduser,
    Here are some possible solutions:
    Do you use musicmatch jukebox on your computer? If you do, you have to go into task manager on windows and end process mim.exe. It interferes with disconnecting ext devices
    Empty your "trash/recycle bin."
    If that doesn't work, try quitting all your programs, especially music-type programs, basically things that look for mp3's etc.
    if that doesn't work, "log off" then "log on" and that should refresh/purge your OS system.
    Finally, you can restart your computer.
    Hope one of these helps!
    Cheers,

  • Error in File UNKNOWN.RPT: The request could not be submitted for backgroun

    I receive: Error in File UNKNOWN.RPT: The request could not be submitted for background processing.
    The error is on a windows Server 2008 SP2 production server. The report generates fine if I run it from within Visual studio 2008 on the server but not through IIS. The Crystal Reports is the version that came with vs2008 (10.5).
    Initially I was getting unauthorized access errors so I granted full access to everyone for the bin and managed crystal report folders under program files. This fixed the unauthorized access problem but now I get the background processing error. I also tried to inpersonate an admin account with the same result. I tried to copy the crystal reports dll's to the bin folder for the project but that did not help either. I am running out of ideas. I did notice that a 16kb rpt file is generated in the Windows/temp folder every time I try to run the report.

    1. The OS is 32bit
    2. Yes. The C drive is the primary drive
    3. For the sake of simplicity and to troubleshoot the sample code has no datasource just 'Hello' in the report header. The Actual work order report that I need has ADO as datasource and it builds a PDF report without any problems when I run the page from VS2008 (development server) so I think the dll's are where thay are supposed to be. The c:\windows\assembly folder has about 25 CrystalDecisions files (10.5.37).
    Do I still need to create a deployment package even though I have everything else working?
    Below is the code I am using to create the report
        Sub CreateReport()
            Dim myReport As New ReportDocument
            'Try
            myReport.Load(Server.MapPath("CrystalReport.rpt"))
            'Catch ex As Exception
            'MsgBox(ex.InnerException.ToString)
            'End Try
            Dim g As Guid = Guid.NewGuid
            Dim woPath As String = "../FileTemp/" & g.ToString & ".pdf"
            'Try
            Dim CrExportOptions As ExportOptions
            Dim CrDiskFileDestinationOptions As New  _
            DiskFileDestinationOptions()
            Dim CrFormatTypeOptions As New PdfRtfWordFormatOptions()
            CrDiskFileDestinationOptions.DiskFileName = _
                                        Server.MapPath(woPath)
            CrExportOptions = myReport.ExportOptions
            With CrExportOptions
                .ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile
                .ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat
                .DestinationOptions = CrDiskFileDestinationOptions
                .FormatOptions = CrFormatTypeOptions
            End With
            myReport.Export()
            'Catch ex As Exception
            'MsgBox(ex.ToString)
            'End Try
            Response.Redirect(woPath)

    Hi there,
    What I have:
    * I have problem with installation of the Mac OS X Panther v10.3 on iMac.
    * I have 3 original CDs (black with silver X).
    What I did:
    * I made new 1 partition and formated disk as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) over the Disk Utility in the first CD as normal without additional options (if I tried to format disk with zero all data and 8 way random write format after 3 days computer freeze)
    * I verified disk over this utility - that was ok - HFS volume verifed.
    * Then I restarted the computer and ran installation from this first CD
    What happened:
    * installation did not finish, because there were some problems during installation process.
    * i tried to customize installation just for essential work (without other languages support, printers etc), but it was still the same problem
    Installation log:

    It seems like a problem with reading some data from the CD, but during the installation checking of disk was ok.. maybe it can be problem with the cd-rom..? Or problem with data on cd-rom - I mean bad archive file..? But it is original CD.. What do you think??
    Thank you!

    Tomas,
    On THIS Page, locate your iMac model.
    From the Documents column, click on the appropriate number link.
    Using the info in the document that opens, locate the serial number of your iMac.
    On THIS Page, in the text field for Search Tech Specs, enter that serial number.
    Click on the model of iMac that appears.
    Post a link to the page that opens, or post the info requested below.
    Exactly which model iMac is it?
    What is the Processor speed?
    What size is the Hard Drive?
    How much Memory is installed?
    What type of internal Optical Drive does it have?
    Which version of OS, was the original Installed Software?

    I purchased an audio book from I tunes but when I sync with my I phone it respond with error saying could not read or write the file. It only sync parts 2

    Those videos are probably not in an iPod-friendly format. It’s picky about that. You can try converting them, if possible.
    As for the audiobooks, are you sure they haven’t synced? You’ve enabled it to sync books and checked the “Audiobooks” section of your iPod?
