Error could not synchronise the colour settings because of a program error

Keep getting this error could not synchronise the colour settings because of a program error
and it crashes when trying to print

Color Settings are synced through Bridge. Try re-syncing the Color Settings in Bridge (See: Creative Suite * Keeping colors consistent)
If that doesn't work, try resetting Photoshop's preference settings: Photoshop Help | Preferences

Hi, I keep getting this error message, "Could not synchronize the color settings because of a program error." whenever I click on Photoshop in my dock. A few seconds after, I'll get a crash report. I just upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion and have not been able to start Photoshop since. Illustrator, on the other hand, works fine. Any idea why this is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you open Photoshop with the shift.key pressed?

As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by keeping command-alt-shift pressed on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)

If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

  • Could not synchronize the color settings because of a program error.

    Hello,
I am using PS CS 5 on a brand new MAC OSX 10.9.4.
Upon startup of PS, I get this message:
"Could not synchronize the color settings because of a program error."
If I click "Okay", the message goes away and I can use PS. What does this message mean and how do I fix it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Patrick

    Just ignore it.
The message refers to color settings not being identical in all installed applications. And they don't have to be - mine are deliberately unsynchronized and I have no desire whatsoever to synchronize them.
Note that color settings are stored under your user account and are not removed with an uninstall. So the message could well refer to uninstalled apps, trial versions, anything you once had on your system.
Personally I think this is a useless and misleading warning and they should just remove it, considering the amount of confusion it causes.
Spinipes, the printing crash is unrelated to this. Start a new thread for that.

  • PSE 5 Error "could not complete the open command because of a program error"

I have been using PSE 5 for years but all of a sudden when I try to open multiple files "could not complete the open command because of a program error" appears.  I have reformatted my computer and reinstalled all programs & updates but still get the error.  I am trying to access photo files in a specific, user created, directory on my computer; the funny thing is that if I access files in the My Documents\My pictures\ Sample pictures folder I am able to open all the files.  Any and all help or suggestions are welcome.  Thanks

When you choose liquify command it says "Could not complete the Liquify command because of a disk error." so nothing at all happens other than the error message
There is plenty of room on my scratch disks --lots of it
Tried using a smaller selection using Marquee Tool to outline a smaller area near where I want to Liquify.  makes no difference.  tried a small file as well.  no ability to use liquify.
    This is really weird.

  • Could not complete the Crop command because of a program error - Win 7

So I use PS CC everyday for cropping out images from design mockups for websites.
Yesterday (1 April 2014) I got a new comp from the designer with some updated images. So I opend the comp, and began to setup the cropped area with my guides. I then grabbed the marquee tool and made my selection, clicked Image->Crop, and then I get an error message.
"Could not complete the Crop command because of a program error."
    Well that is helpful.
So now its "Help me Google, you're my only hope.", after about an hour or so of searching this error I find that it mostly happens to Mac users. I am using Windows 7. I also find that people are trying to get information form a PSErrorLog.txt file that is suppsoed to be located in the "Preferences Folder"... again I am on Windows 7.
So more searching to find the Windows eqivelant of this file's location: C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Adobe Photoshop CC Settings
Only to find there is no PSErrorLog.txt file. I do have a sniffer-out.txt file and a bunch of .psp files, a SynchFiles folder and 2 Workspaces folders (one Modified).
So I say to myself, "Well, I have cloud and a fast connection, won't take long to reinstall." So I delete PS ( I am also runnig DW, FL, Br, and AI ), and PS only. I do not run the cleaner tool as it only wants to delete a PS driver, or EVERYTHING!, which I do not want to do, I just want to delete PS. So I delete PS and check for anything left behind (why is there always stuff left behind? Apparently DELETE really means "Only delete some parts of the app that are required to make it work, and leave the rest behind.", or something.). Anyway, I then reinstall, go to crop again, and get the same error.
So here I am, "Help me Adobe Forums, you're my only hope."

    Mylenium,
You are correct. But none of that information, or those parameters, have ever had any effect on cropping anything in PS before. I crop vector smart objects brought in from AI all the time. In this case, yes the layers I am trying to crop are vector smart objects, which I rasterized and merged, then resaved the document and still get the same issue.
But, going off of your suggestion, I did flatten the image completely and I am now able to crop it without error. I suspect that there is something else in the layers that maybe causing this issue, as you have mentioned.
Thank you for your input, while you may not have known it, you gave me at least somewhere to start to try and figure out what is happening.

  • Could not complete the export command because of an application error

Every once in awhile I get the error, "Could not complete the export command because of an application error" when using the Save for Web option. It's really confusing because the error is not consistent. I don't get it all the time. In fact, 99% of the time I can save with no problems. When I quit Photoshop and reopen my files they seem to save just fine. Does anyone know why this happens, and how to prevent it from happening in the future?
    Here are my specs:
    Macintosh: iMac
    OS: 10.6.8
    Photoshop: CS3 (v10.0.1)
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

No idea about the specific issue, but I like to pass on some general advice I have received myself here over time:

  • Photoshop cs6 error "could not use the type tool because the target channel is hidden.  happens when im typing in photoshop, go to another layer and then come back. can't alter text at that point

photoshop cs6 error "could not use the type tool because the target channel is hidden.  happens when im typing in photoshop, go to another layer and then come back. can't alter text at that point.  i really need to get thsi figured out. thank you.

You may have answered my question. I AM using the 64bit version of Illustrator CS6. I had no idea there were bugs in it that affected paths copied and pasted from Illustrator to Photoshop.
A bit more about what I'm trying to accomplish... I'm trying to follow Deke's tutorial (http://www.deke.com/content/dekes-techniques-018-creating-a-3d-pie-chart) which is already difficult since so much has changed between CS5.5 and 6, but then on top of that, I keep getting errors!
So I created the pie chart exactly as he shows and copied and pasted into Photoshop exactly as he does. Before submitting this post, though, I tried drawing just two very simple triangle shapes, copying them both and pasting them into Photoshop as a shape layer. The shapes weren't overlapping, but they were a part of the same shape layer just like the pie chart tutorial.
Thanks for your help. If there is anything else I should try before just giving up because of the 64bit bugs, please let me know.

  • Photoshop Elements 8. "Could not use Clone Stamp Tool because of a program error."  Please help.

Photoshop Elements 8.  "Could not use Clone Stamp Tool because of a program error."  Please help.

    Try this:
    Open your picture file
    Access the clone stamp tool
Hold down the ALT key on the keyboard and left click on the area from which you wish to clone, then release the ALT key, and click to place the pixels at the destination
    TIPS:
It is a good idea to open a blank layer at the top in the layers palette, and do the cloning on this layer. Be sure that "sample all layers" at the top is checked. You can change the layer opacity if necessary
Use the bracket keys next to the letter p on the keyboard to increase & decrease the size of the cursor
Let us know  how you make out with the error message now.

  • Photoshop CC "Coluld not complete the levels command because of a program error"

Hope somebody can help me resolve this issue. A month ago I began to use Creative Cloud as a trial mode. Two days ago I bought a Creative Cloud licesnce. Since that a message "Coluld not complete the levels command because of a program error" start to appear every time I use any command (Levels, HUE, etc.) and I can not work with Photoshop anymore.
    Thanks Edward

Did it work well with trial?  It is same program as you bought.
When you bought the licence did you just enter serial number into trial, or install another copy?  If the latter unistall the trial.

  • PSE 6 "Could not load the styles b/c of a program error

This is an error that evolved from the "This styles file is bad or corrupt.

I posted this on your other thread...
Yeah, it's the bit I deleted but wanted to find the reference before posting.
Navigate to the MediaDatabase.db3 file and rename it...add a ~to the front of the filename or name it something like  MediaDatabase.db3.TMP. It will take several minutes to rebuild...may take 5 - 10 minutes so be patient.

  • Could not save as filename.PDF because of a program error

I am running Photoshop CS4 Extended Version 11.0 on OS X 10.5.5. I have been trying to save a PSD file as a PDF and I've been receiving the dreaded "Could not save because of a program error" message. I tried rebooting, closing and opening the program, and saving to another folder or external drive and nothing works. Strangely, I was able to save a PSD to PDF file just yesterday. I have not seen a solution to this problem on a forum as of yet. Any ideas?

    Robert,
System specs, including RAM and free drive space please.
    Thanks.

  • "Could not save as a PDF because of a program error"

Saving a Photoshop file as a PDF for emailing to someone else has always been complicated by the number of choices to be made, and now it's become impossible. Every time I try it now, I get this message, and I have to send a jpeg instead. I've tried different files, trashed the PS prefs, tried different settings in the dialog box that pops up after I hit "save", but it is no longer possible to save a PS file as a PDF. In spite of the fact that this just started happening for no reason I know, I presume that it's my fault. Every single file I try to save  has "a program error", for some reason. So I'm going to have to read up on how to save  a PS file as a PDF. Can anyone help or point me to a knowledgebase article on saving a PDF in Photoshop?

You have not provided any system information. That aside, rather than faulting Photoshop it's more likely a generic issue with Acrobat/ Adobe Reader and the shared PDF libraries. The pertinent question would therefore be if those apps actually function properly and can display PDFs, what updates they may have received recently, what their security settings are (sandboxing) and if other apps like e.g. Illustrator still save PDFs.
