Error creating SharePoint Server Farm

Since Sunday I've been trying to create SharePoint Server Farms on the new Azure portal with the new gallery option. Every time I try to create a farm, it fails to create the SharePoint VM. I set up a trial account as well but it also fails.
How do I resolve this issue?

Hi,
Which region did you select when create the Sharepoint farm?
I checked on my Azure account and I could not create a Sharepoint VM when I created a Sharepoint server farm. I will report it to the related team and hope it would be solve soon.
Best regards,
Susie

  • How can i improve sharepoint server farm scalability

    Hi,
How can i improve sharepoint server farm scalability, like currently 1000 users can access my SharePoint.
Now i am looking to improve my SharePoint users scalability (1000 to 2000) , How can i
do this and how can i improve my SharePoint performance
    Prakash

    Scale up or scale out.
Either provide your SharePoint servers with more CPU and RAM (scaling up) or add more servers to the farm (scaling out) to allow the load to be shared between the servers.
The exact breakdown depends on the details of your implementation.

  • Error Creating Reports Server Components when installing 11.1.1.2

    Hi There
    I'm trying to install a A WLS(11.3.2) and Forms/Report 11g (11.1.1.2 bundle) on a Linux RedHat 5.5.
But when the configuration tools of Forms/Reports is trying to create the reports server I got the following error:
Executing Task: Creating Reports Server Components
ALERT: Invalid component name: ReportsServer_fd-red03.in.fd.dk_asinst_1 (Component name must begin with an alphabetic character; may only contain alphanumeric characters, or the underscore (_) or hyphen ( -) characters; and must be 4 to 30 characters long.) Continuing anyway.

As I read the error message is the component name illegale and I guees that whats cause the Report Server to faile.
But how does the install tool figure out the name: ReportsServer_fd-red03.in.fd.dk_asinst_1 ?
And how do I prvent it from happens again.
Note: "fd-red03.in.fd.dk" is the full hostname

    Try changing the oc4jadmin password:
    - stop oc4j
    - edit system-jazn-data.xml and replace encrypted pw with !newpassword
    - remove cache pw from securestore directory
    - start oc4j

  • Error Creating Application Server 10.1.3.1 connection from JDev 10.1.3.1

    Hi All,
I have installed OAS 10.1.3 on Linux RH ES 4 and it is running.
But I get error when trying to create Application Server Connection from JDev 10.1.3.1. This is our first time with full version OAS, pls help..
Below is what I did :
    On Connection Tab :
    Connect To : Single Instance
    HostName : Linux2
    OPMN Port : 6003
    OC4J Instance Name : appserver
When I do Test Connection I get this error :
Error getting OC4J Process for: opmn-appserver+oc4j-linux2.sas.co.id-6003-default:
Error connecting to OPMN (is it running?): Connection refused: connect
I have check with OPMN status on the OAS Server, it is running.
    What is wrong here ?
    Thank you for your help,
    xtanto

    Hi Xanto,
I assume it does work because but I could not get it to work. It may have been my inexperience with the connection settings to the server. There seemed to be a number of methods of deployment and it was unclear what was needed.
Also, when i used the Enterprise Server Control I could see the deployment crashing with out of memory errors.
The Enterprise Server Console link can be found on the home page for the AS eg:
    http://your-server.com:7777/
Both the server port and oc4jadmin password would have been specified during the install of the 10G AS. The ESC is also needed for configuring security providers and settings for the OC4J.
If you find you are having memory problems this is the memory configuration fix from the middleware forums:
10.1.3 Apps Server java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
    cheers,
    Brenden

  • Two SharePoint server Farms using different configuration databases with same content DB's

    Hi everyone,
I am having strange problem while cloning the environments for SharePoint 2007 farm. We cloned the WFE and DB servers with different names. When the configuration wizard has run pointing to the new DB server for complete the new FARM, The config is pointed
to the new Database server but the content databases remains same as old. This makes the production and cloned sites pointed to the same content.
How can this be possible to have a SharePoint farms with separate config DB's and same content DB's. Please advise and now the search service in the production is also broken.
    Thanks keshav,Share point Developer

    Hi,
This is one reason  why you should always use SQL Aliases when configuring SharePoint
Stop the SharePoint Services, you can use Server Manager on the WFE
    From the command line
    Enter CLICONFG
    Highlight TCPIP, Click Enable
Click on the Alias Tab, and Click Add
    Click the TCPIP Radio Button
Enter the (Old Database Server Name) in the Server Alias Box
Enter the (Cloned Database Server Name) Server Name in the Server Name Box
    Uncheck, Dynamically Assign
Enter Port 1433, and Click OK. Make sure on your new SQL Server that you don't have an inbound rule blocking Port 1433.
On the new Cloned Server WFE start the SharePoint Services
    Run IISReset
On The WFE and the App Server. Start the SharePoint Services, you can use Server Manager
I would normally test this by stopping the SQL Service on the Old Server and login to SharePoint on the Cloned Server...
    Cheers,
    -Ivan

  • Error creating Project Server 2013 Server Side Event Handlers

    Hi,
I have created a WCF service and deployed it successfully.  Now when trying to add a new event receiver for Project CheckIn event, nothing happens.  Checking the service using Services panel, it shows Microsoft Project Server Events Service 2013
is started.  I check the ULS logs and see exception:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Could not find stored procedure 'pub.MSP_ADMIN_SetEventReceivers15RTM'
I have service pack 1 installed for Project Server and SharePoint, version 15.0.4571.1502.  Any ideas?  I see there is a stored procedure without '15RTM' suffixed in PWA database.  I read another post on the forum relating to this same issue
but didn't want to create each additional item in the DB (table, data type, stored procedure, etc).  Am I missing something?  Looking for suggestions here.  Your help is always appreciated.
    Thanks,
    kashif

    Hi Gokulraj,
What permission mode are you using in project server 2013? Is it "project permissions mode" or "SharePoint permissions mode"?
If you are using "project permissions mode", then go to Server Settings -> Manage users and click on the user with "team member" permissions to edit.
In the next page, expand "Global Permissions" and "View Approval" permission.
It could be the issue with the categories and category level permissions.
    Happy troubleshooting...

When starting  the service manually in Control Panel -> Admin Tools -> Services i get error:
Could not start the SybaseUnwiredPlatformHOST_NAMEServer1 service.
All others services has started successfully.
I assume i'm not able to connect to the unwired server becuase the service is not started and i've got no idea why the service can't start. Can someone give me a direction as to what could be the problem.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I recenty started instaling OBIEE 11g and got the same error : "Creating BI server system components". I read your solution and would like to know that if this patch is okay to install on a Windows VM (win server 2003 EE, SP2). If yes, after rebooting, do we reinstall ?
I am also getting the following errors:
    -Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obiccs1
    -Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obis1
    -Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obips1
    -Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obisch1
    Thanks in advance.

  • Set up Search Service App For SharePoint server 2013 on Windows server 2012 R2 not working

    Hi all,
I installed SharePoint server 2013 on Windows  server 2012 R2 using VirtualBox.  I created a DC(domain controller) server with a domain set up on one VM and it has SQL server 2012 SP1 installed. Then SharePoint 2013 on another VM was set up to access
the DC server.  Everything seems working except Search Service App which cannot be sucessfully set up. Creation process for Search service app says Successful and 4 search databases were created and look fine. But when I navigate to search service app
admin page, it gives error info:
System status:  The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component '386f2cd6-47ca-4b3a-aeb5-d9116772ef16' in search application 'Search Service Application 1' is in
a good state and try again.
Search Application Topology:  Unable to retrieve topology component health states. This may be because the admin component is not up and running.
From event viewer, I see following errors:
    (1) Error From source: SharePoint Server
Application Server Administration job failed for service instance  Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceInstance

Since separate DC server and SharePoint server do not work, I installed SharePoint 2013 on DC server ( so DC server has everything on it now ) but it gives exactly same result. Later I installed SharePoint 2013 SP1 and still have the same problem with Search
Service app. I spent two weeks tried all suggestions available from Web and Google but SharePoint Search Service simply does not work. Config and other databases work but why Search Service has this issue seemingly related to search DB.
Could anybody please help out? You deserve a top SharePoint consultant award if you could find a solution. I am so frustrated and so tired by this issue.    This seems also to be a SP set up issue.
    Thanks a lot.

Using new Search Service App wizard to create SSA is always a success. I could delete existing SSA and recreate it and no problem. It says successful but when I open Search Admin page from CA, it gives me errors as mentioned.
Now I used the following PS script for creating SSA from Max Mercher, but it stays at the last setps in following script:
    Add-PsSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
$IndexLocation = "C:\Search"  #Location must be empty, will be deleted during the process!
    $SearchAppPoolName = "SSAPool"
    $SearchAppPoolAccountName = "mydomain\admin"
    $SearchServiceName = "SSA"
    $SearchServiceProxyName = "SSA Proxy"
    $DatabaseServer = "W12R2DC1"
    $DatabaseName = "SSA"
    $spAppPool = Get-SPServiceApplicationPool -Identity $SearchAppPoolName -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    if (!$spAppPool)
     $spAppPool = New-SPServiceApplicationPool -Name $SearchAppPoolName -Account $SearchAppPoolAccountName -Verbose
    $ServiceApplication = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication -Identity $SearchServiceName -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    if (!$ServiceApplication)
    # process stays at the following step forever, already one hour now.
    $ServiceApplication = New-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication -Name $SearchServiceName -ApplicationPool $spAppPool.Name -DatabaseServer  $DatabaseServer -DatabaseName $DatabaseName
Account mydomain\admin is an farm managed account, domain admin account, in WG_ADMIN role, It is in all SQL server roles and is DBO. I see search DBs are already on SQL server. From Event viewer, I got following errors in sequence:

  • The server farm account should not be used for other services

I have created a new SharePoint Foundation 2013 Farm. I only used the Farm Configuration Wizard to create the Search Service Application, all other aspects of the Farm was created using PowerShell.
The SharePoint Health Analyzer is reporting the following error:
Title: The server farm account should not be used for other services.
    Severity: 1 - Error
    Category: Security
Explanation: DOMAIN\FARM_ACCOUNT, the account used for the SharePoint timer service and the central administration site, is highly privileged and should not be used for any other services on any machines in the server farm.  The following services were
found to use this account: Distributed Cache Service(Windows Service)
    Remedy: Browse to
http://centraladminsite:port/_admin/FarmCredentialManagement.aspx and change the account used for the services listed in the explanation. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142685".
Now I understand how to change the account used to run the Distributed Cache Service, but my query is what account should I use in the least privelage model? I have setup the following 6 accounts as per TechNet guidelines (Link)
and am not sure if one of these accounts should be used or if another account is required:
    SQL Server service account
    Setup user account
    Server farm account
    SharePoint Server Search service account
    Default content access account
    Application pool identity
After reviewing the TechNet article again, I don't fully understand the section titled "Service application accounts". Is the article advising me to create a seperate account for each row in the table? e.g. 1 account for Business Data Connectivity
Service, a different account for "Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service", another account for "App management" and another account for "Distributed Cache", so 4 extra accounts if I choose to install all of these services
    within the Farm?
Also, what does the article mean when it says "Plan one set of an application pool and proxy group for each service application that you plan to implement."? How do I go about doing this?

After reviewing the TechNet article again, I don't fully understand the section titled "Service application accounts". Is the article advising me to create a seperate account for each row in the table? e.g. 1 account for Business Data Connectivity Service,
a different account for "Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service", another account for "App management" and another account for "Distributed Cache", so 4 extra accounts if I choose to install all of these services within the Farm?
Inder: Yes, It is suggested to have multiple service account for each service application. This increases security and dependencyof 1 account on multiple Service applications. Like below
    SQL Server service
    Local System account (default)
    Setup user
Member of the Administrators group on the local computer
    Server farm
    Network Service (default)
    No manual configuration is necessary.
    SharePoint Server Search Service
By default, this account runs as the Local System account.
If you want to crawl remote content by changing the default content access account or by using crawl rules, change this to a domain user account. If you do not change this account to a domain user account, you cannot change the default content access account
to a domain user account or add crawl rules to crawl this content. This restriction is designed to prevent elevation of privilege for any other process running as the Local System account.
    Default Content Access
No manual configuration is necessary if this account is only crawling local farm content. If you want to crawl remote content by using crawl rules, change this to a domain user account, and apply the requirements listed for a server farm.
    Content Access
Same requirement as the default content access account.
    Profile import Default Access
    Same requirements as server farm.
    Excel Services Unattended Service
Must be a domain user account.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263445%28v=office.15%29.aspx
Also, what does the article mean when it says "Plan one set of an application pool and proxy group for each service application that you plan to implement."? How do I go about doing this?
Inder: Each service account has a application pool and you can plan to use same application pool for multiple
service accounts if required. These application pool are then consumed by proxy connection
of each service application. On service application pool, you can see all the service applications and its proxy connection.

  • Sharepoint server in remote connection in Windows Aure is not working

I have tried to Connect the SharePoint server in windows azure im getting following error. i have followed the steps provided by this url.,http://www.sqlchick.com/entries/2014/7/17/creating-a-sharepoint-server-farm-in-azure-part-2
    anyone can help me?

    Hi Gowtham,
Apologies for the delay in responding to this query.
Try connecting using the cloud service name instead of the machine name. Check the remote desktop port (Public)is accessible from your network. Check for VM endpoints for RDP and Powershell if the ports are open, else create new endpoints for your VM.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brian_farnhill/archive/2014/02/04/opening-rdp-session-to-an-azure-vm-with-powershell.aspx
If not then try the following
    1. Download the RDP file again and try connecting again
    2. Shut down and restart the machine via the management portal
    3. Make sure the BuiltIn firewall in Windows 2012 is not blocking your RDP connection
    4. The RDP endpoint is created by default and so should be correct, however double check. If you have created a custom RDP connection, you have to also use the public port within the server name
Hope the above mentioned steps help you.
