Error displaying pdf (only for one user)

Hello,
A user is facing a problem when running a program that displays a pdf. He gets the error :
"Adobe could not open "xxx.pdf" because it*s either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged..."
All other users can see correctly the pdf.
Any ideas why could this happen?

Hi Lalmar,
You might be trying to download a pdf file and lock it with password using webservice. If there is a connection problem, the pdf would be corrupted.
But as you are saying its specific to a particular user ask him to check re-installing Adobe.

Pl. verify the user with txn-bbp_attr_check. It could be that the org. relationship of the user changed with what was captured on shopping cart. Also use txn-users_gen to repair the user.

I have 2 users on my mac. I would like to install some apps (iwork) but only for one user and not the other user. How can I do this?

Setup of iWork in your wife's account should only occur the once.
Updates can be performed through your account and are usually performed via Software Update.
Messages should not be popping up in your wife's account if all the iWork updates have been performed.
Go to Software Update and download and install all the iWork updates.
Unless you keep OSX up-to-date, messages will continue to come up when your wife logs into her account.

[solved[X superlaggy after hd went out of space, but only for one user

So the netbook (eeepc 1101ha) went out of diskspace while running and froze. I freed up some space and restarted X, but it failed so I rebooted. Same story then. It either loads and becomes super slow or doesn't load at all. I use dwm wm which to my knowledge doesn't save to config files that might have been corrupted during the moment with no diskspace. Other wms have same problems too, but only for that user.

If that doesn't work you may try moving all the hidden stuff to a backup folder and start the X session again.
Something must be causing that and most probably it's some dot file stashed away inside one of those dot directories (you say new users work just fine so it's not a system problem).
Apart from this I'm out of ideas, once I had XFCE (I know its not the same) act really strange and the problem was related with some corrupted saved session file, once I deleted it everything was fine again.

$DISPLAY stopped working for one user

Have 3 secondary users that I use daily on this desktop, that runs Arch x86_64 up-to-date (systemd compatible). WM is i3-wm 4.3-2.
As of today, USER2 can launch GUI applications, USER3 sudently can't.
Can't see what configuration I could have edited (I barely touch those secondary users config files).
First tho secondary users are allowed to use X with 'xhost +SI:localuser:<USER{2,3}>' in a startup script, so that I can launch various GUI apps.
Both share the same groups (audio,video,...) beside their own peculiar group.
Oh and a last one that is used for skype only (as per the wiki). It is launched with an alias:
alias skype='xhost +local: && sudo -u skype /usr/bin/skype'
Runs fine.
Logged as USER3:
$ echo $DISPLAY
$ leafpad

As far I can remember I haven't edited any config file on that system for last month - other than power management related: cpupower, jupiter and kernel-netbook
Problem hasn't changed on the desktop PC: $DISPLAY works fine with one secondary user, and not at all with the other. Have no clue as where it may comes from, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Outlook 2010 corrupting incoming pdf attachments for one user

I have one user here that is having incoming pdf attachments get corrupted in Outlook 2010. When she tries to open the file, it gives
the error "Adobe Reader could not open filename.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." I can open the pdf files in her
webmail, and I also installed another mail client which can open the same email attachment fine. It is obviously something about Outlook 2010 that is corrupting the pdf. I have a comparison of email headers from a good email and a corrupt email, as well
as a comparison of the content of a good pdf file vs a corrupt one. The corrupt pdf is all zero's. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Please try to save the PDF file to local and then double-click to open it if you haven't tried this.
Also make sure the user has installed the latest version of Adobe Reader.
In addition, did the user get the PDF attached email from an online mail interface? If so, please try to send the user an PDF attachment email using Outlook to check the result. Some email providors (especially web email) encode the PDF's for a faster
transfer but when they are received at the other end, they aren't recognized as a PDF so they get corrupted. See:

Actions not displaying in Overview for ONE user ID

Hi Frnz...
For only ONE user ID Actions not displaying in Overview tab.
For this User ID Overview details are visible for some Employee IDs and for some its not visible.
Already checked Roles & Authorisations and IT 0302 & 0000 are active. Have also run RPUEVSUP.
Just to add.. this query is happening while a technical upgrade has happened from 4.6 to 6.0.

Safari 3.1.2 crashes on startup, but only for one user account

This is weird: If I'm logged in as one user and launch Safari, it strugggles and grinds the disk for a long time, brings my start page up partway, then crashes. If I'm logged in as another user on the same machine, Safari launches in mere seconds and works fine. I have tried re-installing Safari from scratch, and have also deleted the Library/Safari folder, all to no avail. There is clearly something about this particular user account that's messed up, but I don't know what.
This is on an 1-GHz iBook G4 running OSX 10.4.11. Safari used to work fine on this user account as well, and I don't know what might have changed.

First, have you installed any programs in that particular user account that are intended to enhance Safari or otherwise might influence internet/browsing activity? If so, uninstall those programs using their installers (which often have an uninstall option) or an included uninstaller if applicable.
If you don't have any such programs installed, or that doesn't fix the problem: Make sure you're logged into the account where Safari is having problems, make sure Safari is quit, and then open that user's home folder (indicated in a Finder window sidebar by the little house icon with the username) and open the Library folder inside it, then the Preferences window inside that.
(In other words navigate to \~/Library/Preferences, where "~" is the user's home folder.)
Locate the "com.apple.Safari.plist" file in that preferences folder and drag it to the trash.
Launch Safari and check to see if it's any better now.

Blank Page on SRM Portal only for one user.

Hello Guys,
Facing a challenging issue in SRM production Portal.
We have one user who is getting blank page while accesing confirmation link on SRM Portal.
Everything is working fine on Portal except this link for this user.
Everyone can see that page except this user.
I checked below things.
a) This user has appropriate backend and Portal roles.
b) User has appropriate permission on Portal(checked end user permission).
c) Checked the settings of IE.
d) User is getting the same problem in other machines as well.
e) I did re-create his SAP Id and still problem persists.
Portal is connected to Active Directory.
Please let me know what could be the reason for this problem.

User hasnt done anything. He didnt collapse the page as he didnt even get on to the page.
I cant check the user id on different browser because of clients IT policy.

Timesheet error (Only for one user on one task): This Web Part was unable to load

We have a weird problem with Project server 2013.
We are on the latest March CU 2015 update on MS Project and Project server.
Problem:
A resource(user) is being assigned to a task. When opening the Project with the MS Project client, you can see that the resource is effectively assigned.->OK
The real problem is when the user goes to his timesheets. He don’t see this task anymore. Other users that are assigned to the same task can see this task in the Timesheets and can open it.
When the user go back to a timesheet on a period where the task was working and visible, and he open that timesheets, he get an error: “This Web Part was unable to load”

We tried already to republish the whole project with the ‘Save for Sharing’ workaround

Hi Johan,
The assignment of this user on the given task might be corrupted. Try to remove the resource from the task, publish the project, assign the resource again and publish again the project. If it is not working, try to unpublish the task (column "publish")
and publih it again.

Flash Pop-Ups Showing Blank... but only for one user! OS X

I am absolutely at my wits end with this one. Here are my specs
My Player Version: MAC 10,1,53,64
Operating System: Mac OS 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard)
Browsers: Safari 5.0, Firefox, Chrome -- same error on all browsers
About a month ago, I noticed some strange behavior with Flash on certain sites -- namely that when I hovered over something that would create a flash pop-up (like the graphs in Google Analytics), the box would pop-up, but it would be empty -- no text, just the blank colored box. Movies played fine, other aspects of Flash played fine, just the pop-ups were broken. This was cross-browser --- didn't matter if I used Safari, Firefox or Chrome -- same broken pop-ups. Since then, I've noticed other things that don't work -- like the Adobe Privacy Settings box! The checkboxes are visible in the settings box, but no text!
As it keeps me from using Google Analytics and other important online apps, this has made me very sad.
What's strange, though, is that it only seems to affect the main user account on my Mac -- when I try to access these sites with my Guest account, everything works perfectly. Baffling.
Here is what I've done to try to troubleshoot it:
Used the Adobe Uninstaller to Uninstall Flash - no errors
Repaired permissions
Installed a fresh copy of Flash Player 10.1 - no errors
I've done this several times, trying restarts and other refreshes in between -- doesn't fix it
I went on a hunt for everything named Macromedia and Flash in my Account and trashed it. Uninstalled Flash CS4. Uninstalled Adobe Air. Used the Adobe Uninstaller again. Repaired permissions again. Restarted again. Reinstalled Flash Player again.
No dice.
I have no idea what to do next. This is driving me crazy. Please, someone, HELP!

Excel file very slow to save - but only for one user! Why?

The problem ...
I have an excel spreadsheet that I share with my partner, i.e. another user on my Mac. The file works just fine for me, but is very slow to save when my partner uses it. Save time for me is about 3 seconds, for my partner about 45 seconds. The problem only seems to be with this one file, and the slow save time is driving her nuts! (I'm not able to upload the file as it contains confidential info).
The file is about 225kB with about 6 worksheets and some macros. It’s stored in a folder below the standard OSX ‘shared’ folder. Both users have identical permissions on these folders and this file.
What have I tried already? Re-saving the file in a different place, renaming it, re-creating it by copying the contents to a blank file, repairing permissions on my partner’s user account, copying excel .plist files from my user to hers, deleting her .plist file & creating a new one. None of these have worked.
System details ... 2.8GHz I5 iMac (late 2010 vintage), 8GB memory, OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). Excel for Mac 2011 v14.2.3 (auto updates on & all installed I believe)
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

Windows 7. Firefox 9.0.1. Receiving above error on various sites which I have used succesfully before and which I can still use if I log on as a different user on this pc.

Fixed by deleting cert8.db on profile directory.

Mail crashing constantly in Leopard but only for one user

Has anyone else seen this problem? Leopard installed correctly and seems to run fine on a G4 Powerbook BUT Mail3.0 crashes constantly. Cannot open or delete a message. Simply opening and then quitting causes a crash. However, I can still receive and send mail. Here is the uncaught exception thrown by Mail:
* Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'trying to set a non-ToDo MailboxUid for a ToDo. The MailboxUid for a ToDo must be a ToDosMailboxUid'
Permissions repaired. File ownership checked. Reloaded Leopard with Archive&Restore. Nothing seems to help. However, other logins on the same Powerbook dont have any problems. Mail works fine for those IDs.
Has anyone got a solution or do I have to wait for 10.5.1 for some relief?

Have you tried synchronizing the mailbox? (The pop-up menu accessed by the little cog icon in the lower left corner of the Mail window, or the Mailbox menu)
How about taking the Mail account off line and then reconnecting it?
Do you have lots of messages in this Inbox? Moving old email to an archive "On My Mac" so they're removed from the dot-Mac server reduces the amount of synchronization that has to be done and thus less risk of encountering a corrupt message file.
Are there lots of attachments to messages? Sometimes a corrupt attachment can cause a problem.
Just some ideas.

OBIEE/EBS R12 - works, except for one user - ORA-06512 error

We are successfully using EBS integration with OBIEE, but for one user that we have created it doesn't work. When they try to access OBIEE from EBS we get this error in NQServer.log:

This is when the query is run against EBS to authenticate the user:

FND_GLOBAL.SECURITY_GROUP_ID,
FND_GLOBAL.RESP_NAME,
FND_GLOBAL.USER_ID,
FND_GLOBAL.EMPLOYEE_ID,
FND_GLOBAL.USER_NAME from dual
It is only for one user that has the problem. All others users work fine.
Has anyone else seen this problem?
Our EBS DBA has checked that the above sql can be run with the session set to the problem user, and compared with a user who can successfully connect to OBIEE. The results were the same for both.

I was on the wrong lines with this one.
The error in the NQServer.log was not from the problem user, it was a separate user.
The real cause of a specific user not being able to login was a corrupt web catalog (which we're still trying to resolve)
