Applications cannot cause the entire system to freeze, restart, or shutdown. Only bugs in the OS, low level drivers, or defective hardware can do that.
Based on your description, I would be looking for a problem with a disk drive of some sort (internal, external, or USB drive).
We have frequently seen bad RAM, bad GPUs, bad motherboards, and bad power supplies cause the same issues (and infrequently defective CPUs, but that's been a while). -
Upon start up of my laptop I get a APS Daemon.exe system error - MSVCR80.dll is missing. This just started out of the blue. At one point it told me to reinstall ITunes. Is that truly necessary?
I have the same issue after installing the new update and reinstalling iTunes doesn't fix the issue.
I found disabling Apple push (APSDaemon.exe) from the start up will stop the error from appearing, however this will disable wireless syncing. If you don't use it than it shouldn't be an issue.
I'm using a PC so you can disable it using the msconfig command and turning it off in the Startup tab. I don't know if Mac users are experiencing the same issue. Hopefully Apple will fix it in their next update. -
I updated to Firefox 4 and now continuously receive error messages. One example is when I'm in Ebay and click on a photo to enlarge I get the following error message.
(JavaScript Application)
can't create mcafee plug-in object: TypeError:
Components.classes(cid) is undefined
Another example is upon start up of Firefox I receive an error message but I can't make it out since its half hidden on my desktop but I have to click "ok" in order to open up Firefox.
I'm barely learning how to use this Mac (a task in its self), but now I have these error messages? Can I just go back to my older version of Firefox to make these error messages go away?
Thanks, JR.Thank you very, very much. This was my very first time trying to solve a technical issue on my Mac... your advice worked great. I disabled all the add-on apps and it solved my issue. Don't know if I should have disabled all but it seemed to work... Thanks again for the advice.

Acrobat 7.0 Distiller error
I have the complete Adobe Creative Suite Premium package, and I recently have started having issues converting Documents or Spreadsheets to PDF. When I click on "Convert to Adobe PDF", after the PDF window opens, I get a Distiller error message, followed by a pop-up with the option to send an error message to Microsoft, or not to.
The Error Message reads:
Acrobat Distiller
Event Type: InPageError P1: c000009c P2: 00000003
When I clcik on the 'details' tab, it points to the following 2 files:
\\WER047e.dir00\acrodist.exe.mdmp
\\WER047e.dir00\appcompat.txt
I have completely removed Creative Suite and reinstalled it,to no avail. I have also tried to remove and reinstall only Acrobat 7.0, with no luck. I have installed Acrobat 7.0 on another PC to see if it would work, and it did.
I am at a loss as to whether this is an error in Acrobat, Distiller or on my PC, and I do not know what steps to take to repair it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DaveDo you happen to be using VISTA?

I'm getting distiller error after installing CC
I recently installed the Adobe Creative Cloud. I still have CS6 on my computer. I noticed after the CC installation, I started receiving distiller errors when opening IE9
I think I may have fixed my problem... I am no longer seeing the Distiller stopped working pop up and I am now able to print to PDF
Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit
My Fonts and program are all installed on the same drive thus preventing me from gaining access to Distiller to change the settings. Windows would not let me make any changes to the Default Font folder.
This is what I did...
Not knowing which font(s) where causing the problem, I moved all but protected fonts (automatically labelled) from the Window's Font folder and placed them in a temporary folder.
I restarted Distiller DC and great news...the program did not crash and I was able to change the settings to temporarily not include the Windows Fonts .No more pop ups and I can now print to PDF!
What I am going to do..
Through the process of elimination, I will gradually restore the fonts I removed from from the Window's folder to find the culprits(s)
Once I am satisfied that the problem Font(s) are found and no longer included in the Window's Font folder, I will change the settings in Distiller back (permanently) to include the Window's Font folder.
In closing, and because so many others are having the same issues, I really do think it would be prudent for Adobe to make the necessary adjustments to their program(s) to prevent this kind of issue.
Thanks

Fan error 90b message on start up
Getting fan error 90B message upon startup. Says computer will shutdown in 15 seconds, or hit enter to proceed to login. I cleaned the vents with compressed air...the fan is running and air circulating, and even chatted with tech support and upgraded BIOS as suggested by them. Still getting message, but computer seems to working fine. ANY IDEAS???

initializedHi guys:
I got exactly the same error. I recently installed BPEL Process Manager for Developers 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) in windows XP.
The default setting for BPEL VM memory is Xms512m -Xmx512m -Xmn300m. I tried to set maximum size to 1024 but I had this error.
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
if any body can suggest a solution will be great .
Thanks.

We downloaded firefox 5.0.1 last night, began working with it. It did fine. After about an hour, I turned off my computer. When I turned on my computer, I click on Mozilla Firefox and it won't start. I get this error message, " Error: Platform version '5.0' is not compatible with minVersion >=5.0.1 maxVersion <=5.0.1" from XUL Runner. What do I need to do to fix it?
The updater wasn't able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Thanks
RameshUsing the OTN2 tech preview build 4684 now available on OTN, I used the JDEVHOME/jdev/bin/start_oc4j script to startup the embedded server in standalone mode and cannot reproduce these errors.
Can you try with build 4684 from OTN and see if the same issue still reproduces?
If so, does it occur even before ever deploying any applications of your own to the instance? -
Error while trying to start OC4j11g in standalone mode
I get the following error while trying to start OC4j 11g 11.1.1 in standalone mode:
Error initializing server: Shared library "oracle.fabric.runtime" could not be found.
FYI, I have the imports for oracle.fabric, oracle.fabric.interceptors in server.xml already.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
RameshI deployed the map example app that Oracle posted online (GEOTAGS - Oracle Open World Conference in 2007) on the JDeveloper's embeded OC4J 11g Tech Preview 3. The deployment went well. However, it doesn't seem to work when I go to the main.jsp (http://localhost:8888/geotags/main.jsp). The following is the error. Please tell me what I need to do to solve this problem.

Error while trying to start OSAUD collector.
Hi,
We have installed Oracle Audit Vault 10g (10.2.2) and trying to collect audit data from a Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) by using the OSAUD collector. We are able to add the collector successfully by using the avorcldb all_collector command but we are getting an error while trying to start the collector.
Source database Oracle 10g (10.2.1) is configured to collect the audit records in the OS audit trail by using the following statement: ALTER SYSTEM SET AUDIT_TRAIL=OS SCOPE=SPFILE; and the SHOW PARAMETER AUDIT command returns the following values :
NAME TYPE VALUE
audit_file_dest string C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ADMIN\<db_name>\ADUMP
audit_sys_operations boolean TRUE
audit_trail string OS
We don't know if the values set for the audit_file_dest is correct but after we start working on the database and execute some statements, Oracle is not creating any files on this destination, while for the same statements when the Audit_trail=DB, EXTENDED the audit values for these statements are written in the appropriate table.
So when we try to start the OSAUD collector defined on the Audit Vault Server it can not start and gives us the follwing error: *"could not start collector OSAUD_Collector for source <source name>, directory access error for C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ADMIN\<db_name>\ADUMP"*.
We would really appreciate some help with this issue.
thanks in advance.
EngridThanks for your answer.
We have been trying to find Oracle Audit Vault 10.2.3 for Windows Server 2003 but we couldn't find it anywhere for download. On Oracle's website only Audit Vault Agent 10.2.3 for Windows Server 2003 is available for download. We suppose that in order to download Oracle Audit Vault Server 10.2.3 for Windows Server 2003 and any other kind of patches or updates we need to have an account at Metalink????
Regarding auditing, when we set the Audit_trail =OS on the source database, what does this mean? Does this mean that audit data will be collected both from the Database and the Operating System audits? If so where are this audit records written, in a separate file or on a particular table inside the database itself like in the case when Audit_trail=DB (EXTENDED)?
Thanks again for your interest, and sorry but we are new at database auditing and Oracle Audit Vault.
Best Regards

I am converting the this.startDate and this.endDate (both Date format) (which i have taken startDate & endDate as Dates and Generated Getters & Setters for them ) to String format.
DateFormat.getDateTimeInstance(DateFormat.SHORT, DateFormat.SHORT).format(this.startDate);
map.put("_startDate", startDate);
map.put("_endDate", endDate);
VOImpl File
public void getTransStartEndDate(Number transTypeId, String startDate, String endDate)
TransactionDetailsVOImpl QueryVO = getQueryTransactionDetailsVO1();
QueryVO.setNamedWhereClauseParam("MstTransTypeId", transTypeId);
QueryVO.setNamedWhereClauseParam("TheStartDate",_startDate);
QueryVO.setNamedWhereClauseParam("TheEndDate",_endDate);
QueryVO.executeQuery();
BindVariables Used
TheStartDate - String format
TheEndDate - String format
SQL Query in VOIMPL - JDEV
SELECT DISTINCT
TransactionDetail.TRANS_TYPE_ID,
MstTransaction.TRANS_DESC,
TransactionDetail.TRANSACTION_NUMBER,
TransactionDetail.CREATOR_NAME,
TransactionDetail.CREATOR_EMAIL,
TO_CHAR(TransactionDetail.TRANS_DATE, 'MM/DD/YYYY hh:mm:ss') TRANS_DATE,
Error.ERROR_SH_MSG,
Error.ERROR_DETAIL_MSG
FROM
TRANSACTION_DETAIL TransactionDetail,
MST_TRANSACTION MstTransaction,
ERROR Error
WHERE
(TransactionDetail.TRANS_TYPE_ID = MstTransaction.TRANS_TYPE_ID)
AND (TransactionDetail.ERROR_ID = Error.ERROR_ID)
AND MstTransaction.TRANS_TYPE_ID=(:MstTransTypeId)
AND MstTransaction.IS_NOTIFICATION_REQ='Y'
AND TransactionDetail.TRANS_DATE BETWEEN (TO_DATE((:TheStartDate), 'MM/DD/YYYY')) AND (TO_DATE((:TheEndDate), 'MM/DD/YYYY'))
order by TRANS_DATE
NOTE : TheStartDate & TheEndDate are not in Attribute list of JDEV
i think i made it clear ...
anybody as a solution or Idea please provide
Thanx in advance

anvv sharmaHi,
I have started developing the code with the following SQL Query -
Query 1
SELECT DISTINCT
TransactionDetail.TRANS_TYPE_ID,
MstTransaction.TRANS_DESC,
TransactionDetail.TRANSACTION_NUMBER,
TransactionDetail.CREATOR_NAME,
TransactionDetail.CREATOR_EMAIL,
TO_CHAR(TransactionDetail.TRANS_DATE, 'MM/DD/YYYY hh:mm:ss') TRANS_DATE,
Error.ERROR_SH_MSG,
Error.ERROR_DETAIL_MSG
FROM
TRANSACTION_DETAIL TransactionDetail,
MST_TRANSACTION MstTransaction,
ERROR Error
WHERE
(TransactionDetail.TRANS_TYPE_ID = MstTransaction.TRANS_TYPE_ID)
AND (TransactionDetail.ERROR_ID = Error.ERROR_ID)
AND MstTransaction.TRANS_TYPE_ID=(:MstTransTypeId)
After that there is a change in the Requirement to add "Start Date" and "End Date" with a "Go Button" --> Clicking on this Go Button displays the Data Based on
"Drop Down" box, "Start Date" & "End Date" --> Corresponding Data is Picked From Database and Displayed....
Now, i have Updated the VO (From JDEV Design Time) with the latest Updated Query (added Start Date and End Date in the Query),
also check the Corresponding XML file is also Updated with the latest Query.
Query 2
SELECT DISTINCT
TransactionDetail.TRANS_TYPE_ID,
MstTransaction.TRANS_DESC,
TransactionDetail.TRANSACTION_NUMBER,
TransactionDetail.CREATOR_NAME,
TransactionDetail.CREATOR_EMAIL,
TransactionDetail.TRANS_DATE,
Error.ERROR_SH_MSG,
Error.ERROR_DETAIL_MSG
FROM
TRANSACTION_DETAIL TransactionDetail,
MST_TRANSACTION MstTransaction,
ERROR Error
WHERE
(TransactionDetail.TRANS_TYPE_ID = MstTransaction.TRANS_TYPE_ID)
AND (TransactionDetail.ERROR_ID = Error.ERROR_ID)
AND MstTransaction.TRANS_TYPE_ID=(:MstTransTypeId)
AND MstTransaction.IS_NOTIFICATION_REQ='Y'
AND TransactionDetail.TRANS_DATE BETWEEN (TO_DATE((:TheStartDate), 'YYYY-MM-DD')) AND (TO_DATE((:TheEndDate), 'YYYY-MM-DD')) order by TRANS_DATE
So now at Design Time i have Query 2, but Strangely at RUN Time Query 1 is Excecuting asking for "Start Date" Binding Variable NOT Found (as there is no Start Date Bind Variable in Query 1)
for this i have to re-Design the required Part...to make it work
can any body explain why it behaved like this ??

We are getting a SCOM alert " Database copy isn''''t keeping up with the changes on the active database copy and has failed."
When we go to the mailbox server and check we found all the Mailbox DB's are mounted properly and their copies are in healthy state. Further digging to this problem we found that there are no critical events to this DB in the eventviewer.
When we runt he get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus -identity DBNAME | Fl then in the ErrorMessage section we get error "The Microsoft Exchange Replication service encountered an error while attempting to start a replication instance for . If the copy doesn't
recover automatically, administrator intervention may be necessary. Error: The directory is not empty."
ErrorEventID : 4126
In the event viewer we get a Information event 4114 saying the DB redundancy health check passed and in the details section we get the same error message mentioned above.
Also we observed that the "MSExchange Replication" counter "Failed" is set to 1 for this perticular DB but is is set to 0 for the other DB's. Tried restarting the MSEXChange replication service but still the "Failed" counter
is 1 and the SCOM alert is still active.
The version is Exchange 2010 SP3 UR5
Any clues???Hi,
From your description, this issue only affect one mailbox datatabase.
Please use the Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy command to check result.
If it doesn't work, please dismount your active database copy and check if this is Clean Shutdown, if it's dirty shutdown, please bring to clean shutdown and mount this database copy. Then run the Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy command again to check result.
Best regards,
Belinda Ma
