Error downloading folio to iPad via Content Viewer

Hello,
I'm having issues getting the folio to download to the Adobe Content Viewer for iPad app . . . every time I get this message "Error downloading folio. Please try again later."
I've built a single-app folio:
1024x768
Viewer version: 20
Orientation: Horizontal
PDF format
Adobe InDesign CS6 with the latest folio tools and builder
The folio consists of a single article with one page that contains two video files (two thumbnails that play full screen when activated)
OSX 10.8.2
I have both an iPad 2 and iPad 3rd generation that I have Adobe Content viewer on (latest version, iOS 6)
I've tried deleting the Content Viewer app and re-downloading a fresh version, I've tried completely rebuilding the folio from scratch, I've also created a new Adobe user name with a fresh account to try the folio with . . . and every time it uploads fine with no errors . . . . but refuses to download to the iPad.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I should try??

Doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong at all. It could be due to some performance problems on our servers that are creating problems downloading large files. Here are a few things that you could try:
If the folio is not already published, try publishing it as private. Downloads of published folios are often quicker.
Try creating two articles each having one video. Downloading two smaller files is typically better than downloading one large file.
If that still doesn't work, you can share the folio with [email protected] and I'll be glad to take a look.

  • Need to download folios repeatedly in Adobe Content Viewer

    Hi:
We are using Adobe Content Viewer (ACV) for a digital education project. The ACV app is used in iPad´s and when are turned off, we need to download again all the folios previously downloaded to the ACV app.
Someone who has the same problem, how to fix it?.
    Thanks,
    Oscar

I am using iPad 2 with iOS 7.0.4. and latest ACV, more than 10 gb free.
    1. Basically, I download a folio on my iPad device, I can open it and everything is just fine. When I click "remove issues from library" I see  both folios, one occupies 28 mb, the other one 48 mb. One is made for viewer version 20 the other for 26.
    2. Then, I shut down the device completely and turn it back on after few seconds.
    3. I launch ACV, both of those folios appear just fine, until I click on them.
    4. Just as I click on a folio, the background appears just light gray, without any content. If I tap on the screen, I don't even get top menu, where I can return to library. So I have to force quit ACV.
    5. When I launch ACV again, both folios have the cloud icon next to them, and I need to download them in order to view them, HOWEVER, when I click "remove issues from library" button, I see that both folios are still there with the same mb size.
So, it looks like they are still on the device, but for some reasons I need to re-download them again.
Unfortunately I don't have any other iPads to test these folios.
Just to remind, this happens only to 2 out of many folios, both were made in summer last year, they are not published and are only used on the current device as presentations.
Regarding updates, to be honest, I don't remember if I had this prior to last iOS update, but I might not have noticed that.
Usually, if I see there is an update, I just update it.
Is there anything you would recommend to try?
I have not yet tried to remove ACV from the device and re-install. Or unshare that folio and share it again.

  • Navigation buttons not working in iPad Adobe Content Viewer

I am reposting this as a separate discussion from this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5551618#5551618), since Bob B. said this is a separate bug from the nav button problems in Single Edition apps that people were encountering.
    Here is my problem:
I have several folios that are a presentation of work (a slideshow per page, on most pages). Navigation buttons are needed since vertical swiping doesn't work on the pages where my images are full-width.
Five times in the past week, the buttons have quit working (tapping a button jumps you back to the first page of the folio, instead of to Next or Prev). The only way to get them working again is to delete Content Viewer and all the content off the iPad, reinstall Content Viewer, and download the folios again. So far, I can use the folio maybe once or twice, and then the problem happens again.
As you can imagine, this is very frustrating.
It would be great if someone can look into this, since it does not seem to be a freak occurrence - it happens to me all the time since I got the latest version of Content Viewer.
    Thank you,
    Camille

A tester was finally able to reproduce this bug. I'll let you know when I find more information. Thanks for reporting it.

  • How create URL for see my folio on the web content viewer ?

    Hello,
I try to create URL for see my folio on the web content viewer but nothing Work
    i have this informations :
    my applicationName
    my accountID
    my publication Name
and my articleName (even if for this i'm not sure)
All my articles are free, my folio is published...
For information my folio is in PDF format with the resolution 1024x768
Have you one idea why it's doesn't work ?
    Thanks for yours answers

Rather than cobbling together the individual parts of the URL, create a development app with social sharing enabled and at least one article set to free. When you share the article of the published folio, you'll see your web viewer URL.

  • Folios Missing in Adobe Content Viewer on iPad

I'm signed into my adobe account in indesign on my desktop, as well as in adobe content viewer on my iPad. All of the folios I've designed are saved, updated, and uploaded onto my cloud (they are also all visible in my folio panel). However, none of these saved presentations are visible in adobe content viewer even thought I'm signed in. I need to be able to get these presentations onto the iPad as soon as possible.

Same thing with us.  I have 35 iPads that I need the content viewable on ACV.
24 are iPad 2, iOS7, latests ACV  - I can download, view once, then next time it dissapears
11 are New iPad (4th gen) , iOS7, latest ACV, I can download once, then next time it dissapears
1 iPad Air, iOS7, latest ACV, can download and the folios are persistent.  They always appear.
We need a fix for this ASAP.  We have presentation using these in 7 days.
    More information......
iPad air is on iOS7.0.3 - no problem (not sure if it is software or hardware releated)
iPad 2's are on iOS 7.0.04
10 of 11 of the new iPads (4th gen) are on iOS7.0.4 and folios delete
1 of the new iPads (4th Gen) is on iOS 6.1 and the folios self delete here too.

  • Viewing Folios with DPS Folio Producer and Adobe Content Viewer on IPad?

What is the path to viewing a folio, on an IPad, that has been published with the DPS Folio Producer.
Opening Adobe Content Viewer on IPad has no obvious path to the folio in the Producer.
There is no obvious path to the library in Adobe Content Viewer, either?
Logged in both with Adobe I.D.
    Using ID CS6 on Windows.
Also as a Creative Cloud single member what is the process of being able to publish unlimited apps to the IPad.
Thank you in advance for your response.
    James Goins

Unfortunately, if you're on Windows you have no process to publish an
    app. You need a Mac.
I wish Adobe would allow Creative Cloud members to use the same process
that Pro and Enterprise subscribers have by exporting a zip file. You
still need a Mac but you can pretty much use any Mac you have access to.
With Creative Cloud to publish a Single Edition app, you must have
InDesign installed on a Mac and you generate the app by choosing create
app from the folio builder panel menu.
All that said, if you create a folio while signed into the folio builder
panel, that folio should show up in Adobe Content Viewer as long as
    you're properly signed into it.

  • View .folio via Content Viewer?

    Hi all,
I’m really desperate for help here, and I’m sorry if my question is a stupid one. I’ve spent three days search for an answer, and just cannot find a definitive answer anywhere.
I am a CC subscriber, so have access to the single edition DPS features, via Indesign CC.
I want to produce an interactive book/magazine/`dos publication in Indesign, via DPS. This publication is not for submission to Apple or anywhere else. I simply want to distribute the finished publication to the students in my academy for them to view via Adobe Content Viewer, on their desktop computers and mobile devices.
Im so confused about this. To enable them to view the publication via the content viewer, would I somehow let them have the final .folio file? Would this be viewable on another machine via CV?
If this is not the case, is there any other way I can produce and distribute an interactive document (featuring video) from indesign.
Seriously, any help anyone can give will be most appreciated, and may just preserve what little sanity I have left!
    Kind regards to all,
    Tim Shelbourne.

Thanks for the quick reply, Bob.
Can I ask, in what way would it be cumbersome? Is there a practical limit on how many people a folio can be shared with that way.. any impact on the originators system/account? Or just cumbersome in a practical way, of that being the only way to add people to the share?
So there is no way to physically distribute a .folio file then? Is it the case that the only non-Apple way of distributing publications is via the enterprise edition, via a custom viewer, or have I got this stuff entirely wrong?
My apologies, I'm struggling at the moment, but I'm a quick learner! ;-)
    Again, thanks for your help,
    T

  • Download folio to iPad for trial

    Hello,
I own an iPad with wifi only.
I want to download a folio to trial on my iPad at work but the office doesn't have a wifi connection. I know you can preview the folio in InDesign, etc but I want to show it to my colleagues in the office. Is there any way of downloading/synching the file from Acroboat.com when the iPad is connected to my mac via USB?
    Thanks.
    Richard

You may use the preview on device feature in Indesign to preview the folio on your iPad. Another way is to download the folio using adobe content viewer when you are at a place which has wi-fi connection, Then you can view the downloaded folio anytime, even when you do not have an active internet connection (It would not show any updates though made after download if there is not internet connection).

  • Problems downloading folio to iPad

I made a folio with the Folio Builder and InDesign CS5 (7.0.4 works also..:).
When I check my folio in Acrobat.com I see everything I made.
    But:
I can't publish this folio, althougt I should publish 1 folio for free
and when i sign in  in the Adobe Content Viewer, I see the folio
there is the button Download and it saids: Free.
But when I download it, I get a message something like:
    Error while downloading
Can't start downloading because the file is missing or illegal.
    I get it in Dutch:
    Fout tijdens downloaden
    Kan het downloaden niet starten
    omdat het bestand ontbreekt of
    ongeldig is.
    Anybody a solution?

I personally haven't updated my ipad with the new Content Viewer App.  im sure one of the Bobs or another community member could verify it working, if you haven't done so yourself.

  • Shared folio stopped updating in Content Viewer

It appears that updates have stopped being pushed to a relatively large shared folio that we're working on (it is still internal and has not been published). Updates to this folio were working just fine, but they seem to have stopped sometime in the past two weeks. Here's what I know:
I am logged into my Adobe account in Content Viewer
I can view the "old" version of the folio that's currently stored on my iPad
The new content is visible in Folio Producer Editor (so it made it's way from InDesign to Adobe's servers)
No "Update Available" message appears in Content Viewer
We've attempted to share the folio with other Adobe accounts, and it won't push out to their accounts
I tried archiving it on my iPad, and it's now completely gone from Content Viewer (even though it's still shared with my Adobe Account)
Updates to other shared folios and new folios are being pushed through just fine, so it appears that Content Viewer is communicating with Adobe properly. It's just this one large folio - with 50+ articles and metadata fully populated - that suddenly decided it didn't want to update anymore.
My fear is that the folio is corrupt and that we are going to have to rebuild it, which will likely take several hours. Is there a way to quickly clone and publish a folio?  Is there some new setting in Folio Producer that we need to activate? Would updating to the latest version of Builder and Producer Tools have screwed things up (which I doubt, since other folios are behaving normally)?
    Thanks,
    - Chris

I too having the same problem like you guys, it just suddenly stop working for me 3 days ago. It did noticed there's an update but failed to download it.
Cannot update libary.  An error has occurred.
Digtial publishing suite Tips, a magazine I just downloaded yesterday also having the same error.
I also noticed that my "Fast company" stop working as well, keep giving me the same error.
Some other DPS magzine fair bit better, didn't give me any error but have slow downloads.

  • How can I view content that I've archived on the iPad Adobe Content Viewer?

Sorry, I'm new to the DPS process. I tapped "Archive" in the Adobe Content Viewer thinking that I would be able to retrieve it from the archive. I haven't been able to find that capability yet! I've tried renaming the document in InDesign and updating, thinking the project would appear in the content viewer. Again, no dice. I even deleted the content viewer from the iPad and reinstalled. Logged out, logged in. No dice. I cannot seem to have any luck seeing my project again. It was displaying just fine earlier today. Damn curiosity! Why did I tap on the archive button? Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Dave

I guess what I was asking is when you tap Archive in the Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad there is a pop-up that says "Are you sure you want to Archive?" and "This item will be removed from your device. You may download it again at anytime for free." But there is no option to do this within the iPad app! At least none that I can see.
I ended up creating a new folio with the same articles. It works now, but the archive function is not intuitive! It should work the same as when you archive magazines in the Newstand app. I mean, that's how people expect it to work. I guess in Adobe speak archive = delete!
Anyway, if you archive something it removes it from the app and you will not see a download button.
    Thanks!
    Dave

  • Ipad previewing - content viewer app

I have a folio which I am able to preview on my PC Content Viewer software, but will not seem to update on my iPad Content Viewer app.
I am running Folio Producer 12.2.4 on CS5.5.
I have updated the app to the most up to date version from the App Store. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app from scratch. It still won't load on my iPad!
Are there any common reasons for this that I can investigate? I have a pitch to deliver using the app at the end of the week - which if successful could mean investing in the DP Suite to a greater extent than we are now - but not if I can't preview the fruits of my testing!
    All advice appreciated!

I must say that's not my experience. I wish every piece of software I use had  forums like this where within half an hour of posting a problem I had a solution. I couldn't care less if the solution is pretty or not, so long as it works.
Software companies can't win. They release something new this way, with an accompanying support forum, and they're accused of beta testing by proxy. They release something new, say it's finished and let us get on with it, and they're accused of not testing the product enough first.
I haven't paid a penny so far -  all the folio testing I've done has been done for free. The plan is to pitch the concept to my company on the basis of what I've developed so far and if they go for it, then start paying. I won't put the money into something like this without being sure that some form of support exists. So far so good as far as I'm concerned!
    And thanks again, Bob.

  • Can't test PDF folio on desktop Adobe Content Viewer

    Hi all,
I get an error when I'm trying to test my PDF formatted folio on my desktop Adobe Content Viewer.
I get the error in Dutch (my language) but roughly it translates: "This folio contains one or more stacks that are not yet supported for the Content Viewer for Desktop. PDF stacks are only supported in iOS-viewers."
This happens when I click "preview" in the folio builder. I work on a Macbook with Mac OS X Lion.
Help would be appreciated since I can't find anything about this issue with PDF formatted folio's on the internet!
    Thanks.

@Haeme – does not work for me. Sometimes yes, sometimes the Desktop Content Viewer is showing is a gray field.
Will test further, if there are any constraints concerning the rendering process of different objects.
Tested again. I had some MSOs on the second page that prevented rendering. They contain nothing but empty rectangles.
After removing ONE of the MSOs the rendering was fine. Did not matter if I removed the one or the other MSO.

  • Folio functions properly on Content Viewer but not on app

    Hi,
    Any comment regarding this...
All richmedia functions works properly once we viewed it using Adobe Content Viewer on our iPad and even on the Desktop viewer.
However, once we published it on our app some functions particularly the scrolling frames does not work properly.
This Is a Bit frustrating since the closest and surest way to check it before publishing is thru the content viewer.
Do you have any idea why??
    Thanks.

    Hi Bob,
when we check it using the content viewer, all 'pull tabs' using scrolling frame are in place (see attached).
however, when we published it on our app, the pull tabs were already pulled down or the content of pull down is already showing and won't return to its proper place or design...
first image shows the intended design... second image shows the initial view once published on app

  • Re: Can't test PDF folio on desktop Adobe Content Viewer

    Hi Bob,
I know this is an old thread, but I got this same error while following along with your DPS Essential Training Lynda.com tutorial, chapter "Previewing Your Work" on the desktop, using the tutorial files for that chapter as directed. I'm using CS6, and the viewer version goes no higher than 24; when I check for updates, there are none available. Might this error be related to viewer version or an error in my folio creation?

Bob, Thanks. I figured as much. However, as mentioned, when I try to update through InDesign Help as you recommend in the tutorial, no updates show for Adobe DPS; also when I log in to the Folio Builder panel, I can't even use anything since it's not updated.
To circumvent, I downloaded the most recent update. But when I try to install, I get this message:
DPS Desktop Tools CS6 32.0.0 Update
Update is not applicable. Error Code: U44M2P28
Not sure where to turn next as clearly things need to be updated. Thanks for any insight.
