Error downloading itunes x64 to x86

Hi, have done a clean re-install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit, downloaded & attemped install itunes x64, it wanted to install in x86 programs folder so did net search & an old (2010) thread said that most of x64 install was actually 32bit. Therefore allowed install to proceed but has errored (as below), rolled back & wants to install again. Allowed to occur, now saying, 'service. Apple mobile device. failed to start please veirfy that you have sufficient privelages... ' >> clicked retry & same error message... Any ideas of what's happening? I have to say that Apple are a pain with their software... I always seem to have problems!!
Thanks, Martin

did you try to right click on itunes and run as administrator?

  • Error downloading iTunes 11.1

    Hi,
Please help. I am not able to download iTunes 11.1. I keep getting the message "an error occurred while downloading", but no error code is included. I am using a macbook pro with ios Lion 10.7.5. and 2.4 Ghz intel core i5. Available memory is not an issue.
I downloaded the update from the Apple Store website. I have also followed the "official" troubleshooting steps listed on this forum.
      Any help would be appreciated.
                                                       Thanks,
                                                           John

The newest iTunes won't work unless iTunes and supporting applications are completely uninstalled first.
After you have uninstalled everything Apple tells you to (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) using the uninstall feature in the Control Panel,  these are the folders you need to manually delete the contents of:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support (if it exists)
You have to delete the contents of the Mobile Device Support folders before you can delete the Mobile Device Support folders or you will get an error message.
If you don't have the Mobile Device Support folder in either location, reboot and try to install the software.  This has worked for lots of people so far.  I hope it works for you, too.

  • I can't download iTunes x64.

I clicked on a link to download the 64-bit version of iTunes, but it never downloaded.  When I came back to the website, it said that I had successfully downloaded it.  This is the 2nd time this has happened with 2 Windows 8.1 computers.  What do I do now?

There is some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded.  As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe
See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation.

  • Error downloading iTunes 11.1.2 for Windows (64-bit)

I'm trying to download the lastest version of iTunes 11.1.2 (64 bit) but it keeps giving me an error.
    Error message show:
Error writing to file: C:\Programme Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile DeviceSupport
    \SyncServices\Schemas\Calendars.synchschema\Contents\Resources\pt_PT.lproj\Schem a.strings.
Verify that you have access to that directory.
I've searched online for a fix cure to this problem and the best thing i found from a Apple Discussion was changing the file name BUT it doesnt allow me to do this.
I've also tried to delete the file but i'm unable to do this too.
I read on one of the Apple dicussions that it might be a good idea to uninstall iTunes completely and reinstall it.
I'm worried I will lose all my information.
I read that it will be easy to recover music files which i'm not really worried about that.
I'm worried about losing pictures, videos, text messages and other data.
I've done a disk scan and i'm getting no errors are being shown
I can back up my current iPhone 4s but I want to start using my New iPhone 5s but am unable to until I install iTunes 11.1.2
    PLEASE HELP.
Thank you for your help in advance.

  • Error downloading itunes - can't find my server (old work computer)

I have a desktop that used to be my work computer so it was hooked into our work network. Usually when I download applications it gives me an option of where to save it so I can bypass the problem of it saving the file to the work server which I am no longer connected to. However, after I successfully download the itunes setup.exe file, when I double click it to begin the install of itunes, my only options are run or don't run the application. when i try to run it, I get an error message: "could not acces network location \\jgp2srv1 blah blah\MyDocuments" why is the installer looking for it in the first place and how do I get around it? I've already called the company tech support and they can't help me.

getting an error downloading itunes 64bit for windows 7.  says there is a problem with the windows installer package.  a program required for the install to be complete could not be run.  any ideas?  i uninstalled it last night when it would not open.

Just in case, let's try a standalone AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi install.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi to do a standalone ASU install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If not, what error message do you get? (Precise text, please.)

    Please help .

You should check Windows update for Service Pack update, if there is any.
Otherwise, try to fix and update windows system filesas follows:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
    type in
    sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.
    Then do the download again.
