Error during installation of itunes

when i try to inwtall itunes on my computer an error message pops up saying "error 1327. invalid drive: h:\" but i don't even have a drive named h on my compter, my cd rom drive is e.

hi anne!
the admin privileges business can be tricky, so it's still worth explicitly checking up on. be careful to have your antispyware turned off too (especially if you're using MS Antispyware). Also go for a sweep through windows update to just make sure that you're fully up-to-date in that regard.
let's also try the Installshield Tips and Pointers on installation best practices:

  • I got an "Apple mobile Device' failed to start error during installation and itunes won't install.

For some reason I got an error message trying to update itunes on my Vista PC and for some reason could not run itunes. I uninstalled itunes completely and tried to download a new installation. Near the end of the installation I got this error message. "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." I was given the choices of 'cancel', 'retry', and 'abort'. I tried 'retry' and got the same error again. I tried 'abort' and the installation eventually ended in another error and suggested that I reinstall itunes.  I was in the administrator's account when I attempted all these things.Has anyone had a similar problem or knows how to get the installation completed?? Thanks for any help.

  • Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start error during installation of iTunes

In an attempt to update my iTunes to the latest version, as prompted by a pop-up, the update failed.  I then tried to open iTunes from my desktop but a pop-up displayed that the program wasn't working properly and that I should re-install iTunes.  I removed the program and then attempted to re-install.  Midway through the install, I receive an error message that "Services "Apple Mobile Device" (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I can either Abort, Retry, or Cancel...none of which completes the install.
    Help.

    Chaps and chapesses,
I too was having the same problem when I tried to update and then unfortunately uninstall and re-install itunes. But, like Nige above me says, you need to uninstall all your Apple software and then re-install itunes.
Have a look at the response given to this forum post:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5819470?tstart=0
I did exactly as the turingtest2 said:
I removed all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Then I restarted my computer, and the install of itunes worked like a dream. None of this ignore, abort, cancel nonsense.
Hopefully all your respective versions of itunes will work soon. Cheers Nigel280

With that one, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Probably should've searched around a bit more. Just saw a similar forum post to my own in which redownloading and burning solved another user's similar issue. As of now I've redownloaded the 64-bit ISO, burned it, and so far so good (at 72% extracting files). I will repost here if it was a success in hopes that other users with a similar issue find this and benefit from it. Hope I didn't just waste anyone's time with a question that had already been answered (haha)

  • Itunes 7.6 installation Fatal Error during installation

I successfully installed Itunes into my account - as the administrator. However, my other computer users users can't install the new version. The get a window that pops up: Problem with shortcut, fatal error during installation. I have tried removing and re-installing, I even followed all the steps in the trouble article #93976. I also deleted the user, created a new on, made that user an adminstrator and still can't install. HELP!

I found on another post that concerns this same topic that someone has responded with the following solution:
I ran into the same problem, but I think I have the solution. First, the problem isn't with iTunes, its an access problem with Windows XP. I tried to run the iTunes program from the Program Files, and I received an "Access Denied" error.
If you try to open the Program Files in My Computer\Local Disk(C:) and receive an "Access Denied" Error, that is why you are receiving a "shortcut problem/Fatal Error during installation".
Here is how I corrected it:
    1) Shut down the computer and restart it in "safe mode". I had to look up how to do this, but I pressed F8 when it was restarting and I highlighted the "safe mode" and started the machine. The icons will be large, but ignore it.
    2) Open a user that has administrative access -- I used the one user that has access to itunes.
    3) Go to My Computer\Local Disk (C:) and right click on the "Program Files" folder. Select "properties" at the bottom.
    4) Go to the Security Tab
    5) At the top you should see one or two users that have access to the Programs File. One will be the user that itunes works on. Click Add, then click Advanced, then click Find Now.
    6) At the bottom should appear a list of users. Select a user on which itunes doesn't work. Click Ok, then click OK again.
    7) Give that user full access to the Program File by putting a check mark in the Full Access box.
    8) Repeat for the remaining users.
    9) Restart computer in normal mode.
    10) Go into a user that had problems and click the itunes icon, and it should run.
It worked for me, I hope it works for you.
I have not tried it yet, but when I have the time to sit and actually do it, and if it works, I will definitely let you guys know!

Try first going through this article to remove iTunes and Quicktime completely (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698).
After you remove everything, don't re-install yet. Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301). After insalling that, remove any references of iTunes, Apple, or Quicktime in the list.
    Try re-installing now.

  • Errors occured during installation of itunes 11.1

I am receiving this message, errors occurred during installation before itunes coule be configured when trying to install itunes 11.1. Can anyone help?
    I'm using Windows 7 64bit.

I got this same error message for installing Itunes 11.4  64bit
I was able to get Itunes installed when I followed this advice here http://superuser.com/questions/169834/cant-run-windows-7-installer-error-reading -from-file Looks like admin did not have access rights to the C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp directory. I added SYSTEM and Administrator to full access and then it installed properly
Had the same problem, installer couldn’t read from %temp%\folder\installer.msi
(%temp%=C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp). Added full rights for user SYSTEM on %temp% folder and installer ran just fine

  • Error occured during installation of iTunes...

I can't install iTunes (with Windows 32bit) although I already tried twice to uninstall all programs in relation with apple an reinstall again...
PLEASE HELP ME!!! What can I do??
    Thanks

Okay, in English that one says that there is a "pending" repair. But if you restart Windows and try again, typically you'll get the same message ...
We're going to try something a bit experimental. (This should work in XP or 2000, but I can't find the equivalent documentation for Vista or 7.)
Run through the instructions for doing an sfc /scannow again, but instead of typing sfc /scannow at the command prompt, type instead:
    *sfc /cancel*
That should cancel all pending scans, as per:
[Description du Vérificateur des fichiers système Windows 2000 (Sfc.exe)|http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Bfr%3B222471&x=10&y=10]
After doing the sfc /cancel, try doing another sfc /scannow.
Does that go through okay this time? Or do you still get the message about restarting and trying again?
