You probably need to delete your preview cache.  See here

  • "Server Busy" Error in Lightroom 4.1. 4.4 won't download/open properly

When I try to import new photos I get a "server busy" error in Lightroom 4.1.  I have to click cancel/reset/cancel/reset for about a minute to get just one photo to import.  Completely unacceptable if trying to import multiple photos.  I downloaded 4.4 most recently in hopes of fixing this buy, but although it downloads, once downloading Lightroom, hoping when I re-installed it would automatically accept updates, but that didn't work.  I still get server busy error.  My Lightroom is completely useless right now.  I'm working off a Windows system.

OMG... I'm such a nit-wit!!  I switched the setting in my camera to try something and forgot to swith it back!
I've been digging through this for more that an hour and never bothered to check the file setting.
    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Error. Lightroom catalog can't open

Hello I keep getting the error: 'The Lightroom catalog named Lightroom 5 catalog cannot be opened because another application already has it opened' when opening Lightroom. There is no other application using it. there is only one file available, no back up as I have been uploading a 5.3TB catalogue over the past 4 days and didn't shut down. the RAW files sit on a separate hard drive to the laptop where the Lightroom catalogue is. I cannot now access that catalogue. I had a crash prior to this happening ... can anyone help out there?

I just wonder whether it was GB not TB!!!!

Good grief! That flew right by me. That is one huge catalog. I wonder if there is a "practical" limit to catalog size.Or I wonder if this is terminology confusion. Catalog size vs. library size.

Delete your preview cache, it is a folder whose name ends with Previews.LRDATA

I've also been getting others errors about cannot create or modify temporary files when trying to install other programs.  Also some of my documents on my computer will not open and crash.
    Any help would be helpful.
I've tried doing this as read not sure if it helps:
    ls -Odel $TMPD
This is what I had in response:

  • Errors using Lightroom DNG Recover Edge plug-in

I'm trying the new Adobe Labs' DNG Recover Edge plug-in with Lightroom 4.2, but I'm having troubles on Canon 5D Mark II and Mark III images.
    The plug-in:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/lightroomplugins.html
    http://labsdownload.adobe.com/pub/labs/lightroomplugins/lightroomplugins_dngre_docs.pdf
When I apply it to an uncropped image, I often get this error message: "An internal error has occurred. ?:0: attempt to compare nil with number" When I get this message, Also, after that, I have to cancel the process manually or else it apparently runs indefinitely with no result.
I got that error message all but one time that to use the plug-in on my first attempt to get this working.
One exception was when it appeared to work, creating a new DNG with the suffix "_full" on the filename. However, it only increased the DNG size by a vanishingly small amount. Lightroom still reports its size as the same, 5760x3840 pixels in the frame around the image in the Library and in the overlaid info text (hit "I" to reveal). The metadata panel shows the larger 5796x3870 size.
After that, the plug-in appeared to work, but it created an image that was labeled "2 of 2," with a dark frame around it in the Library module. However, I couldn't find 1 of 2.
Then I quit and restarted Lightroom, and both of the images appeared, grouped as a stacked image. Comparing the two images, though, there was no difference, though the metadata panel said the one with the recovered edges should have more pixels.
Anybody else seeing these errors? They seemed to be less of an issue after my restart of Lightroom but the plug-in still seems to be misbehaving in some ways.

Regarding the plug-in problems, I also haven't been able to reproduce it since the initial failure. This includes trying it with the initial images for which the plug-in didn't work; I suspect the problem wasn't with the specific images but with some other issue about Lightroom's state. Lightroom seemed to be working OK aside from the plug-in issue. I first used the plug-in immediately after installing it, with no Lightroom restart.
Regarding the cropping issue, it finally occurred to me that the "full" DNG created with the plug-in was cropped. So yes, once I reset the crop, I got the full 5796x3870 view. It was an expectations management issue for me -- I'd expected to see the full uncropped version as soon as I created the full DNG. This is an RTFM failing on my part, since the documentation (I now see) says, "This results in new DNG images (automatically imported) where clearing the crop will give you the full image area..." I'm sure you thought about this software behavior carefully (for example in situations where somebody had cropped and rotated an image already before creating the full DNG), but FWIW I expected to see the full view when I created the full DNG. (As an aside, at least to me, the phrase "a.k.a., active area, stage 3 image area" in the documentation doesn't help to explain anything.)
Regarding the user crop with the 5D3, yes, again a case of RTFM failure. You do need to change "add cropping info" to on.
    Thanks for your responses.

  • Export error in Lightroom 4 and 5

    Afternoon,
I am struggling with issues in all three of my Adobe programs right now, but I thought I'd start with Lightroom. I've been using Lightroom 4 for the past year or so. I just upgraded to Lightroom 5 thru the CC and I'm still having the issue. Everything worked fine until a few months ago. When I try to export and image, I can only export if I leave the location on the last place I used before it quit working which happens to be my desktop. If I try to click the choose button to go to another location, I get an error.
    An internal error has occured
    ***-[_NSArrayM objectAtIndex:]: index 23 beyond bounds [0 .. 19]
I've tried updating my driver and making sure that it doesn't launch at startup, but that isn't helping. I can still export, but I'm really getting sick of pulling everything from my desktop and moving them to folders.
Any idea what is going on?
    Thanks!
    JP

No idea, but first thing I'd try is resetting the preferences file. You can find instructions here:

  • Runtime error R6304 Lightroom 5.3

Hi, I am getting a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error when I import photos into Lightroom 5. It is not allowing a clear thumbnail of the my photos
Can anyone help with this issue
    Thanks
    Dave

Sorry about that, early morning CA time and lack of coffee chagrin and annoyance at systems in general.
    64 bit operating system
    7.89 useable Gigs of RAM
There are perhaps 600-700 pictures installed on the computer in total, but I suspect the point is that the program does not even get around to asking where I wish to locate the photos but preemptively dismisses the suggestion out of hand.

  • Install error with Lightroom 4

I purchased Adobe Lightroom 4 on disc.  I un-installed the previous version I had, rebooted, and then went to install 4.  However, I got this error message when I clicked on the .pkg to install:  Operation could not be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.)
I had previously gotten this error message when I tried to download the beta version.  I thought it was a download error, so that's why I decided to purchase the disc.
Why am I getting this error, and can this be fixed (the sooner the better), as my business depends on this software.
    Thanks.
Installing on Mac, running OSX 10.5.8, and am up to date with all updates.

You are receiving this error because you need a later version of the operating system.  Lightroom 4 requires 10.6.8 or later.  You can find additional details at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html.

  • Error message Lightroom 4.4 during start

After a breakdown of the powerunit of my computer, during editing, starting Lr 4.4 responds with: (In my best english): Lr encountered an error in reading the prepresentationcache and must be closed. Lr tries to solve the problem next start.
    But no succes

With Lightroom closed, delete the cache, then restart lightroom. THe cache is located in the same folder as your catalog file, it is a large folder whose name ends with ".LRDATA". Do not confuse this with anything ending in .LRCAT, which should NOT be deleted.
