Error exporting Keynote to movie

Whenever I try to export my slideshow to quicktime I get a Keynote quit unexpectedly error and it doesnt create the file. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Just to add that it will now export for the fixed timings option but not recorded timing.

  • Exporting Keynote to movies give me different FPS...

I am exporting several Keynote 09 version 5.0.3 presentations to movies using "Export" -> Full Quality, Large.
According to what is stated in the settings, I should get a movie at 24 frames per seconds, but some of the movies I get have different fps like 24.5 or even 47...
I really need all the movies to be at 24 fps.
Any suggestions? I have to finish this project fast!

ok, I was able to reproduce my problem. I'll probably try to figure out a minimal test case which reproduces this and send it in to Apple, but for those interested, it goes like this:
Create a slide, and put stuff on it. Not sure how feature-rich it has to be, my slides just had a couple of jpg's on them. I also put a build on these 2 images, and a transition the slide.
    Duplicate the slide
in the duplicate slide, I duplicated the 2 images. Dragged them so they werent overlapping the original 2, and then dragged 2 new jpgs to replace the duplicates. (So the 2nd slide now has 4 distinct images).
Remove the builds from the 1st 2 images on slide 2.
Export to QT, watch the movie, and you should see some severe jerkiness. This isnt a problem with QT playback (QT is playing smoothly. Its the source movie that was rendered with the jerkiness in it).
After having figured out more features in Keynote, my solution is this:
    (1) Don't ever ever ever ever duplicate anything in Keynote. Copy/paste is fine. Duplicate is not.
    (2) My specific scenario above was made easier by just having 1 slide, and building everything right onto it, with various timing delays (which didnt come out quite right, but there's already 500 posts on THAT issue)

  • Black frame in embedded quicktime movies in Keynote when exporting to quicktime movie

I've included some quicktime movies made in Photoshop in my Keynote presentation. When viewing the Keynote presentation from within keynote, the movie play perfectly. However when I export the presentation to a Quicktime move, the first or last frame of the embedded movie is black creating a flicker effect on play.
The quicktime movies have been embedded as loopable animations using the animation build in function 'Start movie' (after transition with 0 delay).
Is there a setting that will prevent the black frame on export or is this a bug?

Trim out the frames in a video editing application, Quicktime, iMovie

  • Keynote does not export Qucktime embedded movies within slides? Won't play

I Have a Quicktime movie within one of my slides and when I export a Quicktime .mov file, that particular slide does not run the quicktime movie within it, just stays on the first frame?
any ideas where I am going wrong?

I think this is a limitation of the export -> quicktime option
Keynote does all sorts of tricks to keep the file sizes small- and one thing really gets butchered are embedded quicktime movies- I have two almost show-stopper frustrations with this:
1- quicktime movies do not loop when exported to quicktime (limitation of sprite track? will look around in live stage pro)
2- all builds and movies must play in entirety before you can click through- this makes being able to skip around very cumbersome especially if using an indexed presentation

  • Export To Quicktime Movie (Reference or Self Contained) - GENERAL ERROR

    Hi -
I recently had to re-install FCS2 due to problems with OSX.
Now, for some reason, when I want to export from FCP to get a QT reference movie, I get a general error message. All other options from FCP export seem to work, but NOT export to Quicktime Movie.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Chris

    how so?
we can all do with a dummy's cheat sheet e.g. when making a master monitor the record device, not the computer.
So come on, what'd you do?

  • "General Error" when I export to quicktime movie .mov

I have no idea why all of a sudden FCE4 says "General Error" when I export using quicktime movie... If i use another option like mpeg4 or other it works fine. What could be a problem?
    I have lots of memory.

I made the movie self contained and it started but then stops at 10%. This isnt anything complex just a few clips edited together w/ music. I just want to upload to youtube. I have no idea what the deal is!

  • How to fix export error - unable to compile movie?

I can seem to find any concrete / concise solution for this.

I am not having any lucky fixing this export error (unable to compile movie) in Premiere Pro CC.  All available articles seem to run me in circles and dont seem to help.  I am running on macbook pro 17" and OS X 10.8.4.
I have about 200 GB available for storage and 8 GB RAM.
This problem just began a couple of days ago and has been frustrating to say the least.   I have uninstalled program and reinstalled it to no avail.
    Help.

  • FCP won't play Keynote QT movie

Just converted a Keynote presentation into a QT movie but it refuse to playin FCP, it plays ok in Quick Time. When I try and play it in FCP it brings up the message 'general error' and 'File Error'. The Keynote QT movie of the music plays ok in FCP though.
This is the first time I have tried converting a Keynote presentaion to QT so I guess I did or do soemthing.
    Any thoughts?

    I used H.264. Frame size 720 x 576.
Now bearing in mind I am running FCP 3.0.9, do you think this might be the problem? I know that codec is available for exporting in my version of FCP so I thought it would be able to import it too??

  • Exported Keynote presentation improperly exported by FCP

    Hi all,
I have the following problem, I use Keynote to create a presentation for my company's customer (large Japanese car maker). They requested it in a format that could be used by their staff to present to the board. The best solution is to use the Send to iDVD function, and this one works fine (regardless the fact that during export Keynote does something evil to the presentation and doesn't preserve aspect ration etc.). For that reason I used the Export to QuickTime (settings: Apple ProRes (HQ) 422, no audio, resolution 1280x720 [just because a week of trial and error showed that this resolution scales down perfectly to PAL 16:9 DVD]) and the movie plays perfectly. The only reason I need to use FCP is to adjust slides' timings etc. The resulting QT movie is imported perfectly into FCP (requires no rendering, blah blah), I cut it up the way the presentation runs smooth and everything, timing are cool. Now trying to export it anywhere, using any available format gives me CRAP. Half of the transitions are off or gone completely, instead of some slides I get stills, etc. Is it me doing something wrong or is the Keynote export doing something funny to the QT movie it is creating that is misunderstood by FCP. I wasted a week trying to figure it out, no luck. Another problem that shows up now and then is that the QTed Keynote is incomplete under FCP, ie. missing randomly from few seconds to few minutes. Any help is appreciated.

How can I get Keynote directly into FCP? I already am exporting it into QT ProRes HD, the iDVD is only a final step of the process. Yes, I am upset, it is a BIG project and I cannot fail, not because some stupid configuration mistake as I still hope it is me doing something wrong not some FCP/Keynote bug.
It's not a bug. It's you. ProRes is a delivery format, not an editing format. Forget it. Export stills out of Keynote, tiffs or jpegs. You decide.
iDVD only does MPEG2, maybe in HDV format, I do not know, I have never used iDVD.
Most of us would create the images from scratch within FCP's graphics and text editors or in Motion because of the peculiar needs of video for pixel thickness and color gamut. Translating bad slide shows to video just makes bad video (and there is no such thing as a good Keynote or PowerPoint presentation).

  • Quicktime 7 in Lion for keynote interactive movs

Can I install quicktime 7 in Lion? (Quicktime X doesn't play the keynote interactive.movs)

On Lion, I am able to play Keynote files exported to QT using Manual Advance and Hyperlinks Only in QuickTime X on Lion.  But here is the link to the QT 7 installer if you need it:

  • Why the color mismatch when exported key to mov?

Keynote colors are rich and bright, but get all dull when exported to a mov.
Anyone know why this happens, or better yet have a solution?

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply.  No, I haven't converted any color images from RGB to CYMK.  The original graphic file was made as RGB.  The colored box in PM7 is set to the Color Options of:
    Type: Spot
    Model: RGB
    (R 255, G 0, B 0)
As said, in PM7 the two red objects look identical in colour tinting etc on the screen, and you can't tell the difference.  But when the doc is converted to PDF the difference is obvious.
After posting to this forum last night (Australian time), I wondered if it had something to do with dot resolution.  The graphic file is 300 dpi, whereas the red PM box is filled with color that may be at a much lower DPI, causing a dullness in the color.  I assume the PM 7 default for this can't be altered. Maybe there is a setting in Distiller that could handle this, so that the colors are equalised.
The solution I'm currently using is to remove the box (or oblong) containing PM's RGB Red, then make another graphic file which is RGB Red (either at 300 dpi or 200 dpi, either TIFF or JPG, it doesn't matter), of the same page size as the PM doc, then place it onto the page and send it to the back so that everything else sits on top of it.  When converted to PDF you now can't tell the difference between the RGB Red in both graphics.
I'm happy with the result, but it's a workaround.

  • Exporting Keynote to Quicktime - complete loss of sound

    Hey,
I’m facing problems when it comes to exporting Keynote to Quicktime.
For a tutorial, I recorded a Quicktime movie of my screen (including my voice as audio). This Quicktime movie is placed on a slide and runs during the whole presentation. I use animations for showing text blocks that give additional info while the movie is running.
In Keynote everything works just fine. But when I export it to Quicktime, *the sound stops as soon as the first animation is started with a click*. From then on I can see both the embedded Quicktime movie and the animations but without audio.
Sometimes it even happened that after doing the first click I could see the animations only, but no Quicktime video / sound.
I’ve spent the last nights with trying changing export settings and so on, searched this forum up and down, but couldn’t find a solution…
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Mike

I just posted this on another similar inquiry. THis may help. I posed a similar question so check the thread "Bottom line...etc." If you follow the guidelines below it should work. The final result is one QT movie with all slides and music. The product was so much nicer than the iPhoto slide shows (although they are OK too. (I don't know about the video in the Keynote might work as described in the initial post here.)
Here is what the final answer was, at least for my situation:
"YESSSS!!! Even after meeting with 4 Geniuses and 1 Creative the answer was still a definite bottom line, "Maybe." Until, I finally realized that the one setting that I was not using correctly was in the Export> QT> Playback. I had been using "Manual" and not using the "Fixed Timing" out of fear that it would change the custom settings that I had on each slide. However, that is not the case. The settings on each slide remain the same even though in this option there are settings for slide duration and build duration. I do not know what those options do but the bottom line is I now can Export to QT and then import to iDVD with both sound and video as one file and they work fine both as an isolated QT file as well as a QT/Slideshow in iDVD. Thanks for the help from all the contributors both recently and quite awhile ago when I first faced this challenge.
    Peace,
    Jim

  • Export audio to movie - not compatible mp4 !

Hi, I thought Logic X would solve compatibility issues with movie files but I can't "Export Audio to movie" with this format:
    AVC Coding, 1280 x 720
    AAC, 48000 Hz, Stereo (L R)
Logic X seems to do it but spits out files about 21KB small.
Anyone noticed this and knows a solution that does not mean converting the mp4 into a different format? This is terrible, I work with different quicktime files every day..
    Thanks folks,
    Malte

    Hi Anton
This is a known bug in Logic on the intel macs. We're all hoping this will be fixed in the next version!
    There are a few workarounds...
bounce the audio for your movie. Open it in Quicktime pro. Open the movie in QT pro and you can join the movie and audio with a bit of trial and error.
Easier perhaps, is to use imovie to import the movie and audio separately and then export the movie from there. That's what i normally do.
    As i said, it's a workaround - but it's better than nothing!
    Hope that helps

  • 'Export audio to movie' not working properly

Hi, when I 'export audio to movie' in Linear PCM format the audio from the original video plays along side the music I have written in Logic X. The audio track from the video is muted apart from where I've used some of the original audio on a new track. How do I get it so that just my music plays along with the video?
    Thanks,
