Error exporting SharedServices using CSSImportExportUtility utility (V.9.2)
Hi,
I'm trying to export users and groups from an existing HSS environment to import them on the TEST environnment. When running the CSSImportExportUtility it aborts with the following error (used xxx instead of real user name for privacy reasons):
Aborting program...
User not found = ldap://DN=uid=xxxxx.xxxxx
,ou=Employees,ou=People,o=xxx.com?USER
The export file is created and contains several entries but is stopped aburptly and therefore wil not validate as well. I think the ldap is out of sync, but how can we sync this in version 9.2.0 (no sync utility is available in this version?)
Thanks in advance!
M.

Hi,
The updateNativeDir utility I think was released in 9.2.1, it may be backward compatible to 9.2.0 but I can't be sure.
I do know that the 9.3.1 CSSImportExportUtility is backward compatible to 9.2.x so if you can get hold of it, it might trying it out and seeing if it ignores the errors, they have made improved with the 9.3.1 version to the 9.2.x version.
Cheers

Ipod 1st gen. shuffle. Error -31 when using reset utility
I get the -50 error "cannot read from or write to" error when trying to update my ipod, and when i use the reset utility it comes up with "error: -31"
anybody else have this problem?
what should I do?I had the same problem.
I had a -25 Error message for about 6 retries (about 4 hours), then I got the -31 error message.
I just kept using the utility until it finally worked. I have no idea what made it work, since I did the same actions everytime.
Basically I think their strategy is to make their products not work with MS OS so that consumers think "hey, it must be MS's fault, so I should go buy a Mac."
Ironically, the fact that Apple products don't work how they are supposed to on a PC simply makes never want to buy Mac products again. Everything else for my PC works fine, except Mac products. -

Getting error when exporting catalog using bi_export.bat

Any idea?
-peterHi Folks,
I tested this on my server and I got the same error and no XML file created. However, in the documentation there is an additional switch that identifies the logical user and when this is used the XML file should be created. There is still a warning message issued BIB-14418, however, as Katia has identified this is expected behaviour.
So the command that works for me is as follows:
bi_export -u BIBCAT -p BIBCAT -lu BIBCAT -j thin -h localhost -po 1521 -sid mysid -x a catalog.xml
The TAR listed above has been updated by support to reflect this information as well. Hope this helps.

Error apdapting database using database utility(transaction se11)
Hello;
We have a several z* tables of an aplicattion running for a year in a production enviroment. We have to change 4 data elements used in these tables.
These elements were QUAN 4 decimals 0 and we have to pass to QUAN 4 decimals 2. I have change the data element in the devolopment enviroment by adjusting these tables with database utility(transaction se11) without problems. The values were transformed adding 2 decimals.
I try to do the same in the quality eviroment(production copy) and appears an error adapting these fields. The tables have a lot of registers (more than 100.000 ) the error DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR; the table appears in the dicctionary but it is not created in the ORACLE.
Do you know how can I finish this step?. It is possible these transformation QUAN 4 decimals 0 to QUAN 4 decimals 2?? In development I have not problem.

Exporting Tables using expdp utility
Hi all,
Can any one tell me how to export one week data from a table having 3 months data. Like we have one table named abc having data from Jul to Sep and i want to export only september 2nd week's data. Is there any way to do that??
Note:Our table is monthly partitionedHI,
Actually we have over 200 tables in our database and want to export certain period of data (like i mentioned one week) so this seems not feasible to create such number of tables.
Insert date is the common column in all tables so this might be the key.
When i given following command it returns error on date format.
expdp fkhalid/****** DIRECTORY=DUMPS DUMPFILE=one_week_export.dmp LOGFILE=one_week_export.log TABLES=abcschema.ABCTEMP QUERY=abcschema.ABCTEMP:'"where ins_dt between '25-SEP-2006' and '30-SEP-2006'"'
Error:
ORA-00904: "SEP": invalid identifier
any idea about date format????

Error while migrating users using CSSImportExportUtility
I'm tring to export all user and group information from a Hyperion Shared Services 9.2.1 by using CSSExport.bat

Troubleshooting Tip: If HSS is configured for an NTLM provider, DRM services may not start due to error: "Exception Emdm_Exception with message 'Could not Initialize CSS. Error: 'getOSVersion'."
You may receive the following error after clicking the "Enable CSS" button in DRM Console: “LoadLibrary("C:\Hyperion\Master Data Management\mdm_ntier_css_validator.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found.”
To resolve both of these conditions, update the Windows System Path on the Data Relationship Management server with the applicable JRE and CSS pathing below.
NOTE: Reboot the Data Relationship Management server machine after making any changes to the Windows Path.
NOTE: Ensure that only one JRE version and one CSS version are referenced in the Windows Path.
? For HSS 9.3.1:
%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin\client;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.3.1\bin;
? For HSS 9.3.0:
%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin\client;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.3.0\bin;
? For HSS 9.2.0.3:
%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2\jre\bin;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2\jre\bin\client;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.2.0.3\bin;
? For HSS 9.2.0:
%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2\jre\bin;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2\jre\bin\client;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.2.0\bin;
I found these is no directory "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.2.0\bin;" exists but "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.2.1\bin;"
I configured PATH by setting to above, and tried CSSExport again, still failed.
Than I disabled the NTLM is HSS, tried CSSExport again. It was successful.
So I am convinced that the problem caused by NTLM or PATH environment variable or some files associated.
Does anybody know the solution ?I recommend you upgrade at least to 10.1.0.5. 10.1.0.2 comes with the very first version of csalter.plb, which has not the current implementation. From and to which character set do you try to migrate?

Time machine backups are failing. I've followed the instructions I found on the Time Machine troubleshooting page (http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html) but have gotten to where I don't know what to do next.
Sequence of events:
The main error message is always:
An error occurred while copying files. The problem could be temporary. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk.
Yesterday, I opened Disk Utility and verified the disk. Got this error:
Error: This disk needs to be repaired using the Recovery HD. Restart your computer, holding down the Command key and the R key until you see the Apple logo. When the OS X Utilities window appears, choose Disk Utility.
I ran Disk Utility and repaired the hard drive. Then I manually started the backup before going to bed, figuring it was going to take a long time to run. When I got up this morning, the backup had failed with the same "could be temporary" error. I checked the log, which says:

Does anyone know what the problem is here and what I should do?
Thanks,
TeryYou have repaired your boot drive (which is good) but have you repaired your time machine drive? I don't own a Time Capsule so I don't know if disk utility can operate on it. If it can, you should repair it as well. You may need to erase it and start a new backup. That happens to time machine volumes from time to time and is why people who are serious about their data never rely on a single source of backup.
-
I have been trying to use time machine on a new lacie 2tb usb 2 drive for back up. I continue to get: "unable to complete backup.An error occured while creating backup folder". When I use disk utility to repair I get another error message: unable to repair disk unmountable.
Help me Obie One Canobie you are my last hopeI have confused myself with the facts! Started out keeping track of every step and every variable but have sort of lost it as we progress here. First I quit all applications then swapped connections between mouse port and backup disk port to influence possible bad connections question. Changed power outlet receptacle for the backup disk. Disabled the put-the-HD-to-sleep option. Then powered down the computerator.
Next started up computerator. Turned Time Machine ON and experienced multiple successful backups! Then I started up a few applications, Mail and Text Edit (but not Safari so far). Had a few more successes. After each backup, I used Disk Utility to verify the backup disk is still OK. This because the error about unable to unmount the backup disk seems to go hand in hand with Disk Utility finding the backup disk to be bad.
Put computer to sleep for the night. Upon starting up in the morning, and before doing anything else, I did a backup disk verification... BAD! Did a restart and verified the backup disk... OK.
Did a few Sleep-bad, Restart -OK repetitions.
It seems consistent: Sleeping the computer apparently messes up the backup disk but doing a Restart "repairs" it.
=============================
Now then, I don't understand everything I know here. Methinks that maybe keeping the HD from sleeping during lulls in activity has allowed successful backups through the day but manually putting everything to sleep for the night causes a return to the problem of spinning-back-up-too-slowly (which was explained earlier). Is there any truth in this?
I may abandon this Seagate thing for something more compatible. What's out there that we know works reliably for us? -
Getting medium write error on burning a disc image using Disk utility
Have a MacBrook Pro 15 inch, circa Summer 2007, using OX 10.4.11. up until recently (as in before February) have been able to burn DVD's using Toast (message Medium Writer Error). Started getting problems where the burn failed. Thought maybe it was Toast, so I tried creating an iDVD project and tried to burn the DVD using that, and it stopped in the middle as well and then spit the disk out with no error message.
, this time I tried creating a disc image, and used disk utility to burn. The process looked like it was going to work but then failed with a message that I have a medium write error.
I have no problems burning a regular data disk on my superdrive so I am thinking it's maybe a software glitch rather than hardware. . Any thoughts, as to what could be causing this problem all of a sudden. By the way, there are other users out there, who seems to be having DVD burning problems all of a sudden, but most people suggest other media. I am using the same stack of DVD-R's from before when I had no problem.Well, I had assumed my media was ok, since I had a spindle of DVD-R's and had used many of them successfully (until now!, ha ha).
I went out this afternoon and bought another brand (Memorex) and it successfully recorded.
So hopefully this solves my problem, I had no idea it was the media since I had used several of them before.
Thanks for your help. -
Error in Copying a non-commercial DVD using Disk Utility
I have a non-commercial DVD. I am using Disk Utility to make an image and reproduce the DVD. It consistently runs through the cycle and at the very end I get a dialog box:
STOP "Input/Output Error"
Any ideas? I really would like to make back up copies of this video event.
I have used this method before to copy non-commercial DVDs

PavanHi,
The utility is case sensitive, in your parameters you have put /S:PLAN but in your copyapp.properties you have lowercase plan_
so the utility is looking for PLAN_JDBC_DATABASE_TYPE and won't find it because you have plan_JDBC_DATABASE_TYPE
either change the parameter or the properties file to match

Accessing External Url using Http Utility | Error when using from Weblogic on Solaris
We are using Http Utility (http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/) from
Apache for accessing external URL. A XML string is sent as POST parameter to the

I am setting the following parameters in the java class:

The java class written to access the external URL using Http Utility works perfectly
fine when it is run from either the command line (of Windows or Solaris using

-Djava.protocol.handler.pkgs=com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol in java options.
On looking the system properties again, the output was
[exec] tModelInstanceInfo_description : com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol|weblogic.utils|weblogic.utils|weblogic.net|weblogic.management
But still the error is same. Can somebody help me out here as to what is going
wrong? Please find the java class attached for reference, please have a look at
postXMLtoLloyd() method in the class file..
[LloydsValidator.java]We are using Http Utility (http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/) from
Apache for accessing external URL. A XML string is sent as POST parameter to the
URL and the response is also an XML string. The URL is accessed over HTTPS protocol.
I am setting the following parameters in the java class:
Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider());
// set the property
System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
The java class written to access the external URL using Http Utility works perfectly
fine when it is run from either the command line (of Windows or Solaris using
main() ) or from weblogic on windows. The same java class throws an exception
when run from Solaris instance of Weblogic

I tried to debug the problem by looking at system properties on windows and solaris,
the difference that I found was
On Windows
[exec] tModelInstanceInfo_description : com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol
On Solaris
[exec] tModelInstanceInfo_description : weblogic.utils|weblogic.tils|weblogic.net|weblogic.management
After this I changed the startWLS.sh on Solaris and set

Hi, I have a hard disk failure so to recover my data I am using disk utility to restore the data on an external drive while booting from a second external hard drive. When I perform the operation and after having selected both my destination and source drives, the operation begins but soon fails due to input/output error. If I try to create an image of the drive it gives me the same error message. Any help would be much appreciated.
Disk Utility only creates a image of the drive, so it's no help getting exactly what you want, which is your files. If the file structure is messed up or the drive is failing then it's no help.
If you have a external boot drive and you can't access the internal non-booting drive though the typical Finder and windows to transfer your files via drag and drop methods, then you need to install Data Rescue on the external boot drive and it will do as best as it can to recover your files. (works on non-encrypted/non-Filevaulted drives only)
.Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
Are you sure you have hard drive failure, or that OS X isn't merely not booting?
Because if the drive is working physically, then there is a host of fixes

When I check my boot SSD drive using Disk Utility under Mavericks, I often get "Incorrect number of extended attributes" errors. But if I boot off an external drive and check the same SSD, no errors are reported.
This happens not just with the SSD in my Mac Mini, but with another SSD in my MacBook (both now running Mavericks). So far as I know, all of the kit I am using is in good order (despite the file corruption reports). So I am beginning to wonder if it could be due to a bug in Mavericks? Both SSD drives have been formatted to MacOS Extended (journaled) format. Should I have used a different format, I wonder?
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Does anyone have a solution?
Or an explanation that might help my investigation of the issue?
Thanks guys,I understand that the Corsair Force 3 is not one of the SSD drives that are supported on Apple Macs.
I did try downloading and using Trim Enabler, but the error message came up both when it was off and when it was on.
I understand that not everyone thinks Trim Enabler is a good program, though there is a new version out now, so I may give it another try.

For some reason our iPod (4th G) will only let us use capital letters on the first letter of the WiFi passcode. Since the whole thing is case sensitive, we cannot log into our own wifi server. Any suggestions?
