Error finding a domain controller

Hi,
I have an error in finding a windows domain controller when a PC bootup and does a network access via a Cisco wireless PCMCIA card (AIR PCM-352) managed by Cisco ACU.
This is the situation:
- the operating system of the PC is Windows XP sp2
- the wireless card is an AIR PCM352 with firmware V.5.60.21
- the version of ACU is 6.6.00
- the Access point is a Cisco 1120 (802.11b) with IOS version 12.3(8)JA
- wireless communication is completely open (ssid in guest mode, authentication open ,no wep)
- the ip address of the PC is obtained via DHCP (DHCP server is a Microsoft Server)
I notice a difference between a Cisco PCMCIA card 352 managed by Cisco ACU and by Windows XP.
In fact this error doesn't happen when the WLAN card is controlled by Windows wireless utility.
Is it possible that the startup timing of the Cisco ACU is later than the Window's one?
Does anyone resolved this error?
Thanks in advance
Antonio

Hi Antonio,
Obviously you get the error of the domain not found because your wireless card is not even associated (the wireless card utility hasn’t started)
Can you clarify the line "Is it possible that the startup timing of the Cisco ACU is later than the Window's one? " . You mean start the Cisco ACU before the windows one right?
The best way to get around issues like that is to use for example the Odyssey client from Funk and turn on GINA and it should work fine.
Rgds,
Pablo

    Hi
We are migrating from old domain to new domain. Before live migration, we are trying to check the ACE/ACL migration through SubInACL. We are running the SubInACL on a cluster, which is a member of the Old Domain (Test Domain). We are able to resolve and
ping both Old Domain and the New domain from this cluster machine. We have created a network share on this cluster, which is accessible to all Domain Users of the Old Domain. Both Domains have two way forest level trust. we are trying to migrate
the ACL of this share (\\ClusterMachine\testshare$) to the new domain using SubInACL. We are trying to run the below command to get it done.
    subinacl /outputlog=C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Migrationlog.txt /subdirectories
    \\ClusterMachine\testshare$\*.* /migratetodomain=OldDomain=NewDomain=mappingfile.txt
Mapping file contains : Domain Users=NewDomain_Users

    Hello,
how in detail is DNS set up in each domain?
Any problems when using nslookup to verify?

  • 4321 NetBT errors :1b after domain controller becomes pdc

I am getting  4321 NetBT errors :1b after domain controller becomes pdc errors after moving fsmo roles over to new pdc.  The error is the DOMAIN :1b could not be regitstered with the IP of the new DC.  The computer with the IP would not allow
it to be claimed.  I can;t ping the computer that would not allow it to be claimed and I dont see WINs on out network.  This is a HYPER-V domain controller.
Is this gonig to effect network clients?

    Hi,
Glad to hear that it has been solved! Thank you very much for your sharing.
Please feel free to let us know if there are any issues in the future.

  • Error in starting domain controller !

I have installed on Windows 2000, Oracle 9i Database 9.0.1 and Oracle 9iFS release 9.0.1.
Configuration was OK, but the domain doesn't start.
    I launch 'ifslaunchdc.bat', 'ifslaunchnode.bat', and when I launch 'ifsstartdomain.bat', I receive this error:
"An exception occurred while starting Domain controller - oracle.ifs.common.IfsException: IFS-40066: Remothed method threw exception java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: OCIEnvHandle"
    OTHER WAY:
If I try in Oracle Management Server (from Oracle Enterprise Management Console), I go to Internet File Systems, I go to the domain picasso:53140 and it is launched (yellow light). I do right click and I choose 'Start Domain'. I receive the following message:
" The Domain Controller 'picasso:53140' is launched
    Command failed:
IFS-40066: Remothed method threw exception java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: OCIEnvHandle"
So, the same error, and I don't find anywhere this exception !
What should be done? Thanks, Jeanina

I am not sure how you got into this state, but to clear it up you can edit the boot.properties file to enter (clear text) the username and password for the server (entered when running the Configuration Wizard).
The boot.properties file is located in your domain at:
    <domain root>/servers/AdminServer/security
Just enter the username and password in the file:
    username=myUserName
    password=myPassword
WebLogic Server will boot up using these values and immediately encrypt the username and password in the file.
An alternate approach would be to delete boot.properties in which case WLS will prompt you for the id/pw each time it is started/stopped.

  • Hyper-V Guest Cannot Find Host Domain Controller 2012 R2

Poweredge T320 server as a Domain Controller,  file server and an EXCHANGE 2010 server. There are no other servers at the site.
DHCP is from the firewall.   The DC and the file server will be on the host.
The 2010 EXCHANGE server will be on the guest.  The Hyper-V
2012 R2 server cannot see the Domain Controller on the host 2012 R2 server.
The Active Directory is requesting to be promoted to a Domain Controller.
I have a logical or physical error in the installation.
It is asking to promote the  Hyper-V guest 2012 R2 to a Domain Controller.
I believe I should have only one  Domain Controller in this application.
After the Hyper-V guest can see the host domain controller I will install EXCHANGE 2010.
This is a test environment, offsite.
    NIC1 – Host IP:192.168.1.130, 255.255.255.0, Gateway:192.168.1.1, DNS:127.0.0.1
    NIC2- Only Hyper-V switch checked
Virtual Switch: 192.168.1.140, 255.255.255.0, Gateway: Blank, DNS: Was 127.0.0.1 didn’t work so I pointed it to the host, 192.168.1.130, but that didn’t work either.
    Host adapter: IP:192.168.1.150, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.1.1, DNS Pointing to HOST:162.168.1.130
Active Directory and DNS installed on the guest.
Removed IPv6 from both NICs without any change.
IPAM is not installed on the host or the guest.
Several articles in Internet search didn’t help.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Forest trust unable to find Active Directory Domain Controller

I have two domains with a two-way forest trust. We'll call them ForestA and ForestB. They're on seperate subnets. ForestA's DCs are in one physical location. ForestB's DCs are in two locations, one of which is shared with A.
I'm unable to route traffic directly from the remote DC in ForestB to the subnet ForestA is on, so I created a new DC in ForestA that sits on the subnet ForestB uses (basically, I can't route between subnets via the wireless bridge between locations, but
    can within the same location).
    I found this: http://www.neomagick.net/zen/2008/11/30/using-dns-to-force-a-domain-trust-through-a-specific-domain-controller-dc/
I followed the instructions to set the new DC in forest A to be the only one the remote DC in forest B was aware of.
Nslookup ForestA.com resolves correctly to this DC, but I'm unable to validate the trust relationship, getting the error:
"Windows cannot find an Active Directory Domain Controller for the ForestA.com domain. Verify that an AD DC is available and then try again."
    I'd appreciate any help.

In the event viewer, have you found any event id's that corrospond with this error? Have you ensured all ports required are open? Windows firewall is correctly setup? NIC is properly configured?
    Statement below taken from: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc961803.aspx
If you receive the following error, ERROR_NO_LOGON_SERVERS while using the Nltest tool to query the secure channel, this is usually indicative of the inability to find a domain controller for that domain. Run nltest /dsgetdc: < DomainName > : to verify
whether you can locate a domain controller. If you are unable to find a domain controller examine DNS registrations and network connectivity.

  • Off-site domain controller

    Hi,
I work for a small company who (for reasons of security, cooling, noise and power consumption) cannot run a server at their local office, so there are about 12 PCs in the office along with a D-Link DFL-260E router, and they have a server hosted in an off-site
rackspace centre. The server is running Windows Server 2012 and VPN tunnel is maintained to the D-Link router in the office. The D-Link router acts as the DHCP server for the office.
My predecessor configured the server as a domain controller, but at present none of the PCs in the office are members of this domain - I would like to address this but when I try to join my PC to the domain it fails to find the domain controller.
The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
    (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)
Are there any DNS settings I need to set up on the D-Link router and/or the off-site server to allow the PCs to join the domain?
The issue is possibly further complicated by the fact that the internal domain has been configured to use the same "mycompanyname.com" domain name as our public website - which is hosted entirely separately by a web hosting company and as such
"mycompanyname.com" resolves to the IP address of the web hosting server. I've read up a bit on split-dns but I'm not sure how to configure the router or server to accommodate it.
I would like to avoid tearing down and rebuilding the domain because it is a live environment and various other services running on the Windows Server are preconfigured to authenticate against it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    HI
    Domain Join
First we need to Test it :)
take one PC and assign DNS IP address as the Domain controller, Try to ping your domain name and it should resolve to the IP Domain controller IP address.
Then , Join the PC to Domain and you will be able to do it with out any issues.
    Second
Yes, you need a split DNS configuration, YOu need all the public web address added on to the local domain controller.
Example : if you have a site xx.com and its poing to 195.x.x.x IP adress
on the domain controller add the host record point to public IP address for all web address.
Test access from the PC which we joind to domain
If you are able to access all sites and services, let do it for all
On DHCP, change the DNS to your domain controller and start adding PC to domain

  • Connecting Virtual Machine to physical Domain Controller

    Hello,
I have a Hyper-V environment set up. My virtual machines are on my domain controller. I would like to connect these virtual machines onto the domain controller I am hosting them on. I have tried however I always get the error saying the domain controller
    cannot be contacted.
    Thanks in advance,

http://blogs.technet.com/b/jhoward/archive/2008/06/16/how-does-basic-networking-work-in-hyper-v.aspx is a good article that explains the basics
of Hyper-V networking.  What you are describing generally comes down to understanding the basics and getting your virtual networking switch(es) properly configured.  When it comes to networking, IP is the same whether using physical or virtual machines.
You have to ensure that you have the proper paths in place that allow the communications to take place.
As for support of Hyper-V on a DC, I've not seen that it is unsupported.  Bad idea?  Yes.  Recommended practice?  No.  Would I do it?  No.  Should it work?  Absolutely.  Supported?  I haven't seen a Microsoft
    statement on that.

  • Need to delete Transport system , which is not domain controller

I need to delete transport system on machine which is not domain controller .
our domain controller system is not avalible now .
how can i delete the transport system on my machine as domain controller system is not avaliable .
Please let me know what can i do ??
    Thanks,
    Asc

    Hi,
Logon to any system which is in your transport path in client 000. Then in stms, go to Overview ---> Systems. Here you can find all the systems in your transport path. You can also find the domain controller which you have configured as before.
Now, goto Extras----> Delete TMS Configuration.
After deleting, logon to system which you want to make as domain controller in client 000. when you execute stms, now it will ask for new stms setup, which you might be aware of.
If you need more guidance, let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Error while configuring ADC (Additional Domain Controller)

    Hello Experts,
I am configuring ADC (Additional Domain controller) in a member server which is in workgroup. while configuring ADC on that server, I got a window saying "additional information for this domain controller", where there were three options, i.e.
DNS server, Global Catalog, RODC (Read only Domain controller) and bydefault first two options(DNS & Global Catalog) were checked. I kept that setting and clicked on next. Now this is showing I need to give a static IP to my adapter, but I have already
given a static IP. when I unchecked the DNS button from that window it was not giving such error. Now my question is if I continue without checking the DNS, will it give me trouble in future. Please suggest. I am using MS2008 R2.
    Swaprakash..

Ensure that you don't have another NIC in your server that is set to obtain IP address from DHCP. However, even if you proceed with this warning, you will probably not have any errors later, as long as you're sure that you have static IP assigned to your
    internal NIC.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Thank you! Damir

    Thanking you in advance.

I have another issue. I was trouble shooting exchange bin folder for permission and as a result of it Exchange transport service stopped and couldn't restart. I quickly changed to local service account and able to restart. Fixed the transport roles folder
permission but don't know the password of network service account so I can't change it back. I can send and receive emails internally and externally but I am worried that by running with local account maybe not recommended? Is it safe to reset network service
password? Thanks. I am freaking out... Regards, Pwint

  • Unable to execute Test-Mailflow cmdlet. Could not find any available Domain Controller

I started receiving this error in SCOM while testing Exchange 2007 Mail flow. Normally the tests work just fine, and when I execute"test-mailflow" on the offending server, it works just fine. The alert doesn't have enough details to find out what
is wrong. Can anyone help out?
    Alert Description:
Unable to execute Test-Mailflow cmdlet. Could not find any available Domain Controller
    Environment: SCOM 2012 R2 UR4
MP: Exchange 2007 MP, latest update
Monitor: Exchange 2007 Test Local Mail Flow Monitor
    Brody Kilpatrick

    Hi,
After you execute"test-mailflow" on the offending server, please also look into event logs to check is there any errors or warnings. SCOM is a tool to collect information, from my point of view, this message is collected from Exchange server, so
you may need to check event viewer.
In addition, please also make sure your Exchange environment is under monitored. And have you followed the Exchange 2007 MP guide to configure the MP?
Make sure the Client Access Server is under monitored, you may check the Application Event log on the Client Access Server, and make sure there are no errors or warnings indicating a problem with the Client Access Server.
