Hi Stephan
Thanks for giving your time for me. I am a new LabVIEW PDA Module user. And I have to do it because of my final year project.I am student from Nanyang Polytechnic (Singapore). I never use labVIEW software and LabVIEW PDA Module software before. This is my first time. The software that i have is LabVIEW Version 8.5. So as what you say is i need to reinstall my the whole LabVIEW PDA Module and all start again? Then i know that for PDA Module i need to download Virtual PC2007.But what else i still need to install? The Window Mobile 5.0 emulator and the rest softwares is it include in the LabVIEW PDA Module software package? If not, please let me know which software i still have to download? Then i go and check the software status that i have and the lincense status is as shown in attach files. Thanks for giving your time and help me.

  • Error message when building an application for Labview PDA

When using LabView PDA module to build an application for a PDA target, I receive the following message: "Error building executable. Unable to create file". Why is this happening?
When looking at the error log, it reads "The system cannot find the file specified."
This happens even when looking at one of the Labview PDA example VI's, so it is not a result of the VI containing functions of features not supported by Labview PDA.
When installing Labview PDA, I installed files as follows, and in this order:
    (i) Labview 7.1 (installed previously)
(ii) Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0
(iii) Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 SP 3.0
(iv) Microsoft SDK for Windows Mobile 2003-based Pocket PCs
    (v) Microsoft ActiveSync 3.8
(vi) NI Labview 7.1 PDA module for PocketPC
(vii) DAQmx Base 1.0 for PDA or later
    Any ideas?

Did you attempt to add the _wordsub.llb and _excelsub.llb files to the application as support files?  I believe in LabVIEW 8.0 instead of adding the entire LLBs you should just add the _Word Dynamic VIs.vi and _Excel Dynamic VIs.vi as dynamic VIs.  I think I've seen a similar post on the discussion forums in the past that recommended this.
If this suggestion doesn't help, please reply, and attach a simple VI and .lvproj file demonstrating the problem so I can investigate further.

  • Tab Control Property Node gives a build error when used in a VI for LabVIEW PDA

    Hello,
Iam new to LabVIEW development & need help regarding this:
We are trying to port a LabVIEW application from desktop to a Windows Mobile PDA. Please note that the LabVIEW application works fine on the desktop. In one of the VIs, a Tab control property node is used which gives a build error with LabVIEW PDA project. A sample VI which shows the problem & the error list snapshot is attached with this post. Can anyone please suggest an alternate approach to achieve the same functionality with LabVIEW PDA? Waiting for an early response from anyone...
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hello Ton,
Am glad that i got a response, thanks. The following links indicate that Tab control is supported on PDA target:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/CBA335641E27B858862571490015EA88?OpenDocument
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=221507&requireLogin=False
I feel that the Tab control property node that has been used in the VI (which is attached earlier) may not be supported on the PDA target. Can u (or any LabVIEW expert) suggest an alternate approach to achieve the same goal with LabVIEW PDA (changing colour of Tab control pages programatically)??
I had missed out some details earlier: We are using LabVIEW 8.5 PDA module on a Windows Mobile PDA.

  • Anyone worked on LabVIEW PDA module for Pocket PC?

LabVIEW 7.1 PDA Module is claimed having the new features:
    * DMM support for helps you build portable instruments using a PDA
    * Tab controls, graph zoom, and additional control customization improve development of professional applications for PDAs
Does anyone has any working example for the ZOOM and for DMM4050? The NI website's example for DMM does not work for LabVIEW 7.1 PDA Module.

Installing the driver for the NI PCMCIA-4050 is a little more complicated than other installations. You will have to follow the exact procedure stated in the "NI 4050 for PDA Readme.htm" file. I pasted the important information here:
    Installing PDA files:
Place nirlpdriver.dll and NI4050DLL.dll in the \Windows directory
Place the NIRLP 4050.exe in the \Windows\Start Menu directory
    Installing LabVIEW support:
    Copy the LabVIEW\NI4050 folder into the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\vi.lib\PDA folder
    Copy the ni4050.mnu file into the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\user.lib folder
    Installing LabVIEW examples:
    Copy the LabVIEW\Examples\NI4050 folder into C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\PDA
    Getting Started
Before the NI-4050 will be recognized by the PDA, you must run the NIRLP 4050.exe. This EXE will install the registries needed by the PDA to recognize the hardware as well as a test routine which allows you to verify that the device is properly installed.
Once the device has been tested, you are ready to begin building your own LabVIEW PDA application with the NI-4050.
If you are new to developing PDA applications with LabVIEW, read the LabVIEW PDA Module User Manual.pdf for getting started. You can find the manual by going to Start>>Program Files>>National Instruments>>LabVIEW 7.1>>Module Documents>>LabVIEW PDA Module User Manual.
There are several examples which come with the NI4050 for PDA. You can find these examples in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\PDA\NI4050 directory.
When building code for your PDA which includes the NI4050, make sure to manually add the NI4050DLL.lib file in the LabVIEW 7.1\vi.lib\PDA\NI4050\Include directory. To do this, in LabVIEW go to Tools>>Build for PDA and then select the “Source Files” tab, press the Add File button and browse to the NI4050DLL.lib file.
Without these actions, your application will not work. Make sure that you install the NI PCMCIA-4050 driver AFTER an optional NI-DAQmx Base install.
Please let me know if you are still having issues after following all the directions from the readme-file.

    Hi Jpaul,
Thanks for your quite useful help. I am now able to manage all waveform in one tab control. But i still have some errors for my final year project. I am from Singapore Nanyang Polytechnic who do the final year project. My project is to transfer over the AM Modulation waveforms on the PDA device. But i still face on with some errors. My error is as following.
    (1) After i run my waveforms together with Tab control, the program that appear on the PDA is only too small and only can see half of
my waveform. As i understand that all the text size must be greater than 20. And I chose the landscape screen for my tab control using.
The waveform that together with tab control is as shown in attach file.
    (2) Then my PDA's internal memory is not enough space for running the new application and when i want to delete it, it is not possible to
delete and there is error to delete. I would like to know how can i delete my NI files from my memory. My PDA model is HP iPAQ hx2700.
    (3) Then I would like to know more about what is the usage of NI CF-6004?  Is it like memory card for running NI
waveforms on the PDA? Or if not what is it use for ?
I am strongly appreciate for ur help and i know that this might be so many question. But i am really no way to find this errors anymore.Thats why i have to ask to you. I will be thanks for all ur help. Thanks a lot

  • How to create a login interface in labview PDA module?

How to create a login interface in labview PDA module? So that it checks with a list of usernames and passwords and allow to go to another VI?
    Anu

    Anu,
I've attached a really short example that does something like what you're talking about.  It just compares the user's username and password a pre-determined username and password and then "logs the user in" based on that comparison.  Like Greycat said, you probably want to store this username and password info in some sort of file on the PDA that's in an encrypted format for both security and flexibility of your application.
    I hope this helps,

  • Labview PDA module 7.1 and Windows Mobile 5.0

    Hi!
In spite of reading that Labview PDA module is compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0, I've tried to compile an application for Pocket Pc 2003 in my device (which has a Windows Mobile 5.0 OS) and it doesn't work. It seems that the process fails when the executable is being sent to the device. Does anybody know what happens and what can I do to solve it? It's strange because the same application compiles properly with a device with Windows 2003 OS!
If it was not possible to solve, could I create an executable directly in my Pc and then copy it in the device?
Thank you very much for your help!!!!
    Greta

I believe it was said that the problem with writing for CE 5 is only with downloading the application, which you need to do manually. You can do this by copying the EXE to the device's shared folder. ActiveSync should automatically recognize that and synchronize the folders, so you will have the file on the PocketPC. Another option is to copy it to the Mobile Device folder, which should appear under My Computer.

  • Where can I get driver for Tektronix2440 Oscilloscope for LabView 5.0 version?

Our Lab have LabView 5.0 version and VI for Tektronix2440 Scope for LabView 3.1 version. For our switching experiments we need in newer driver for Tek2440 to work with LV 5.0.
The main problem is our A/D converter hasn't a memory and so we can not get the data fast enough (data acquisition is not greater than 26 scans/sec. 1000 scans/sec and greater are required). We are solving this problem by writing the data to oscilloscope and then reading them to LV.
    Thank you.

    Hi Gen,
I looked around for LV drivers for the 2440. The "oldest" I could find is LV6.
You may have to write some of the drivers using instument commands. A bit tedious, but it can get you there.
Did you try contacting Tektronix and find out if they do have LV5 drivers or DLL's that you could use. Yes, I know that it is discontinued and no longer supported... Try anyway...

  • Upgraded to 8.2.1 now I have a version mismatch for the PDA module ver. 8.2

I just recieved a new laptop. I installed LV 8.2.1, then PDA module 8.2. Programs will not build. I get a "Mismatched Versions of Labview and the PDA module" error.  Help.

    Hello,
I was able to reproduce this version mismatch error on a test PC with LabVIEW 8.2.1 and PDA 8.2. This is expected behavior. Also, Matt called in on the phone, and I directed him to his internal sales representative to be shipped 8.2.1 of the PDA module.
I suspect the reason why I was not encountering this on my own PC was that I had already upgraded my LabVIEW Touch Panel Module to 8.2.1 but not PDA yet.
For all people reading this, the ultimate answer is that the PDA version number should match the LabVIEW version number.

  • LabView PDA module gives error "unable to lock memory chunk"

I've written a LabVIEW PDA Application that reads an ASCII decimal string through a PDA serial port. I can display the string ok, but when I try to convert the string to a number using the decimal string to number VI I get the error message "App failed. Error Code 172649003. Does this happen whenever you use the string to number VI (can you reproduce this in an empty VI)?
Are you sure it happened because of that VI and not because of something else that is happening in the VI at the same time?
Can you cut down pieces of the code and still get the error? Can you post a small example?
    Which PDA\LV are you using?
Can you write some more details about your app (does it do anything else other than serial comm)?

  • Winsockread Error in LabVIEW PDA

Hi all. I am currently trying out the VI server example given in the LabVIEW PDA toolkit but i keep getting this error "WinsockRead error Error Code: 10054.
The LabVIEW example project I am using is "VI Server- Pocket PC.lvproj" and I have loaded the "CallByRef Wave - Pocket PC.vi"  into the PDA. I have a WIFI connection to a PC and have manually assigned IP address to both the PDA (192.168.100.101) and PC (192.168.100.100). I have verified my WIFI connection is working by using the "ping 192.168.100.101" command on my PC.
Also, I am configured my VI server correctly by selecting the enabling the TCP/IP protocol and ActiveX under the VI Server Configuration. The port number I used is 3363. I have also added the PDA IP address (192.168.100.101) to the Machine Access List.
When I try to run the example program on the PDA with the IP address "192.168.100.100" and a port number of 3363, I will get the error. Can anyone give advice on what I have missed out or done wrongly?
I forgot to mention that the remote program "TargetWave.vi" on the PC is loaded in memory and opened in LabVIEW also.
    Thanks in advance.

    D.Com,
I just thought of something else to try. You said you are using port 3363. The program was initially set up to use Port 3865. Did you change the VI server properties (From the project, right click on the my computer icon>>properties>>VI server: Configuration) to port 3363 or just the control on the front panel of the CallByRef Wave.vi? Both must be set to the same port.
Secondly, you may have to open a port in your firewall if you are using WindowsXP SP2. Initially I would completely disable the firewall and see if that solves the problem. If it does, then enable the firewall and create an exception of the port you've specified (3363).
As for using the trial version, this should have no impact on the performance of the toolkit.

  • Labview pda module: how can I resize image dynamically in an application?

    Hello every one,
I am currently working on the development of an application on a PDA (brand Nomad) and whose OS is Windows Mobile. So I am using the PDA module of Labview 8.6.My problem is the following one: in my application I would like to be able to load images (thanks to their path) in pictures indicators. I load images with the labview “function PDA Image File Load.vi” and then my problem is that images don’t fit with the size of the indicator, and so I am only able to see the left top corner of the image…Of course, I would like to see the entire picture, but I don’t know how I can modify or resize a picture with the PDA Module, where most of the property nodes (zoom factor, scrollbars…for picures) are not available.Has someone ever faced and fixed that problem?? Any help would be really appreciated!!   PS: Attached is one part of my application!

  • The binary file processing in PDA device (LabVIEW PDA Module)

    To whom it may concern,
I created a VI application, which should read some binary files and transform them to waveforms shown in the Waveform Graph. I implemented it with Mobile/PDA module. This application runs successfully on my desktop, that is, on the Labview Front Panel. However, when I run it on "Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Device" (a PDA has been already connected to the PC), all the windows, menus, buttons are displayed correctly, the only thing wrong is that the waveform can't be shown in the Waveform Graph. So, I wonder whether the Windows Mobile system will automatically modify the binary file format a little when I copy them from the PC to my PDA so that the original VI can't process it as what I expected in PC execution. Or, are there any requirements for the programs that will be executed in actual Windows Mobile Device?
Thanks a lot for any comments and suggestion.

    Thanks, Jeremy,
I used LabVIEW 8.5.1.  I rechecked and debugged the VI. The problem is not due to the Waveform Graph. I set an indicator after the Read File unit, in both PC Front Panel and PDA Front Panel. As I described before, when I run it in the PC Front Panel, the indicator could show the right values read from the file. But when I switch to PDA Device Front Panel, the indicator shows zero (invalid values), which demonstrate that the data is not accessed from original files.
The units I used are shown as follows:
File Dialog ---> Open/Create/Replace File ---> Get File Size ---> Read From Binary File (Here I set an indicator, no values read from the file, but if run in PC, correct values will be shown).
In this case, I guess the problem should come from the transfer (copy operation) of the file from PC to PDA. Or the operation behavior for LabVIEW  Read File unit is a little different for PDA implementation from its PC implementation.
If you want more information, including the original binary file or VI, please let me know. Thanks a lot.
