Error from Recovery Manager on HP Mini-110 1135CA

Hi,
after having a hard disk crash I had to order the Recovery Disks from HP called System Recovery DVD Windows 7 Starter EM and after going through the steps two times, it always fail at the end with error message: "The recovery attempt failed. Select one of the following buttons: Save Log, Details, Retry.
I chose Retry twice to be sure it was not a external DVD problem or something else.
I also saved the Log if anyone want to see the log, I have the SRD file generated which is not readable with Notepad or Wordpad. I could send it to you.
Any one had this or have ideas what makes this error?

Actually I found the same error message on another forum threat.
Here is my Error taken from CROError.flg file opened when I click on Details.

    thanks,

this directory is actually empty : /scratch/oradba/db/apps_st/zDB/dat/

  • How to do a Recovery on a HP Mini 110 netbook (WinXP)

    Hi,
    The product details are:
    HP Mini 110-1030CA
    Windows XP Home
I can't figure out how to do a recovery on this computer.  There does not seem to be a recovery partition.... for one thing, if I reboot and press the suggested function keys repeatedly (I tried them all, plus ESC),  no recovery console appears.  I am only able to press F10 to get into BIOS settings and there is no recovery option there.
For another thing, if I view the disks in the Computer Management (right-click on my computer -- manage), no recovery partition appears there.
This computer does not have an optical drive, nor do there appear to be any HP Recovery program installed on it.  Nor does there appear to be the Roxio Back on Track thing.
Would this computer have originally shipped with a recovery disc, I don't seem to have one?  If it did ship with one I could use an external optical drive.
Is there an option somewhere that I have missed to download a recovery program to put on a USB flash drive?
Note:  I wouldn't be willing to spend $50 on this computer (or whatever it is) to have some recovery disc shipped by HP, but I would still be curious to know if that is an option.
    Andrew

If there is no recovery partition, then your only option is to purchase operating systems disks or restore disks and use an external optical drive as you were thinking.
If you go to HP's support site, you should be able to type in your product number and pull up a list of drivers available for your laptop. If recovery media is available from HP, in that list will be an option and a link to purchase it.
If you can't find it from HP, I have purchased recovery media for several laptops from www.restoredisks.com and have had good success with them. You simply work through the menus they have to identify your laptop and operating system and at the end they will tell you what it will cost for them to ship the recovery media to you. It looks like the cost here would be $26.99 if you select their standard shipping option. I had to select HP Mini 110-1030nr.
Beisdes these, the only other option is to purchase a retail version of Windows XP (or you could upgrade to Win7 at this point) and complete a fresh install of the new operating system on your hard drive. This would most likely be the most expensive way to go though.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from Recovery Manager.

I got my son's older HP Laptop, and decided to restore it before using it for myself.  Previously it was working OK.  An HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from the Recovery Manager.  I have tried running the recovery manager from both the HD partion and the DVD media I created.  The HD and Memory pass.  The wireless f12 key is off, and can not be turned back on from the keyboard.  Some previous post have suggested the wireless being off could be a problem.   Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

    Hi
No that Recovery media won't work in your laptop.
ISO file can be used to clean install. You'll have to get all the 25 character alphanumeric product activation key printed on the COA label on the back of your laptop to be clearly & legibly readable for activation of ISO after install.
    Tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html
For additional drivers you can get them here:
    https://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=5197401&soft...
    AMD chipset driver :
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064
Download, save them to a USB and install them from there during/after Win 7 installation.
You have to first install chipset, restart system - then audio driver-restart, graphic driver- restart, ethernet controller(LAN), network controller(WLAN & Bluetooth), card reader, touchpad , Protect smart hard drive protection driver, quick launch software in order.
I could see that your model came with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) pre installed.
    Here is the ISO file:

    Source: http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/page-2#post-124821
Download , save it to another PC, then make a bootable DVD/USB by mounting this ISO on to it by using software like Imgburn (choose lowest speed while burning to DVD).
    Imgburn : http://www.imgburn.com/
This will be your Windows 7 installation disc.

There were no changes made to the computer, prior to the restore the computer would boot up, however, it would freeze after the system was up and running. Restarting the computer did not help and when I tried to restore it to an earlier point it said that it was unable to complete the restore. I then tried to the factory reset, however, it gave me an error message: "Recovery Manager could not restore your computer using the factory image. Please contact HP support. Error code: 0xe0ef0003. When I tried to restart the computer afterwards, it gave an error message: "BOOTMGR is missing, Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". How do I fix this?
    This question was solved.

    Hello crossurmind.
What sorts of issues led up to the computer originally not booting? Were you getting a lot of blue screen errors?
The two items you posted from the error log seem to indicate that it is having trouble reading the hard drive and possibly the memory. After trying the restore it seems that it failed causing the boot section of the install to "not be found."
I think you should begin by using the built in tests for the hard drive and memory located in the BIOS. Follow this document to perform the hard drive test. All you'll have to do is repeat the process and select "memory" in order to perform the memory test. Make sure to post the result of both of these tests.
I will await the results; have a great day!

    Hello mtkrass.
Have you tried using a different USB port to perform the recovery?  The error refers to it having issues reading files so that would be a possible solution.  If you're still unable to get the notebook to read the files you need to contact HP Support again and let them know.  There is a possibility the image is corrupted or damaged.

    Hi,
I have a HP Mini 110-3520ca that I upgraded to Windows 8, but was having issues with freeze ups and shut downs so I decided to go back to Windows 7 Starter.    When I tried to restore to factory default the files were corrupted and I couldn't restore from the recovery hard drive or my external back up files.  I ordered the recovery  USB flash drive from HP and tried to restore from it.  It completes the Recovery Preparation and the Software Installation finishes, Windows starts to load, but Ithen it goes back to welcome to Recovery Manager.  When I try to start Windows without the flash drive I get an error log that is below.  Can someone tell me how to fix this or what needs to be done to get my Windows working again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @Savvy58
I did some further looking into that Error Log you posted. Basically, it means that is looking for a certain location that doesn't seem to be there. This could be a problem with the USB Recovery drive that you have. I would recommend that you contact HP. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

Does disk management show the HDD as basic or dynamic? (Start>Right-click Computer>Manage>disk management on the left).
If it has been switched to dynamic (Windows does this automatically when more than 4 partitions are present on the disk), then the F11 recovery partition won't function until it is restored to basic, but I would like to confirm that is the scenario before providing those steps.
The Disk management shows that my HDD as Dynamic, what should i do then if this is the case and the possible solution to my problem?

If you have more than 4 partitions you will need to delete the extra partition/partitions, then convert the hdd back to Basic.
