Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch.  Comp thinks it is a camera or something.  iTunes won't bring up devices at all.  I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes - updated iTunes completely demolished my computer's ability to recognize the sound card and computer had NO sound at all.  I had to uninstall iTunes, QT, AND my sound card and reinstall them all.  Sound worked fine, but now I can't sync my iPod.  Computer recognizes that "something" is hooked up (thinks it might possibly be a camera) and I get that "open with" window.  In "my computer" it shows that there is an "iPod" connected, but it is pictured as a camera.  In iTunes my username is no longer appearing (although account info is there) and NO devices whatsoever get listed.  There is nothing wrong with my USB ports or cable.  And of course Apple won't help anyone unless you pay them to. ... I am getting beyond P/Oed!!!  You pay hundreds for a product and all you get are headaches with their stupid bug infested software and no support at all.
Can anyone out there help me clean up this unbelievable mess Apple and iTunes has created in my computer?
    Thank you.
    Evie

After three completely wasted days trying to figure all of this out I finally got it fixed - on my own - by reading dozens and dozens of rogue posts in indie forums from people that refuse to dish out money to have a company TRY and advise possible fixes on their own glitches.
(here's a novel idea - fix the glitches Apple.  Or - don't send out updates filled with bugs in the first place)
Everything (several applications) had to be uninstalled in a very specific order and then restarted , then it all had to be verified with manual deletions of leftovers, and emptying the recycle bin, then another restart, then iT had to be reinstalled again and the system restarted again, and two more update downloads. Holy!!!
I love my little iPod touch, but I honestly must say, when this kind of thing happens (and it has several times now when I try to deal with iTunes or Apple), it makes me want to flush it down the toilet.

Using iTunes on your computer, open Preferences (under the leftmost item in iTunes menu).  Choose "Devices" on top.  Find your backup listed there, highlight it, and select "Delete Backup".

We were able to update iPhones but get an error message when trying update our iPad. Ay suggestions?

What iOS are you currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

Error 16 when I update my iPhone 5s showed me stuck on recovery mode and whenever I got error 16 Restore thing is the problem?

    Hello Meysam321,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with your device. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
Resolve iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    BobbyD

  • Error message when starting Adobe Illustrator CC [Error loading plugins   AppBarControls.aip]

    Hello,
I get the following error message when I start Adobe Illustrator CC.
    Error loading plugins
    AppBarControls.aip
Then it gives me the option to continue by clicking okay. When it opens, the Application Bar is just blank.
I've tried uninstalling, then ran Adobe CC Cleaner, then downloaded and reinstalled.
    Computer details : OS X 10.9.5, 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Help is kindly appreciated!

I also have had a difficult time with Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 crashing upon launch.  The support staff was great even though we had to work through several sessions.  Below is the email explaining our final session.
This email is in regards with the issue you had been facing with Illustrator CC 2014.
While going through the installer logs, we found that there was an issue with the installation & the program installer had been denied access to several critical files & folders during installation.
This was the main reason for Illustrator crash as several critical components had not been installed properly.
We tried installing the program in a new user account & that worked.
Though the program has been installed properly now & is working in your old account, I will still strongly recommend you to get your computer user account repaired with a Windows 7 operating system diskette.
This is required so that you do not run into more trouble later while working with the Adobe Applications or even while installing other programs.
Avanish Divya was the final support person that successfully resolved my problems.

  • "Unknown Error Occured" when opening any Illustrator file

    Hi.
When trying to open a .ai file, the "unkown error occured" message appears.. Same happens when creating a new file. It's CS4.. Really don't know what else to say, hope you can help me.

    iTolmach,
You may try to Ctrl/Cmd+Alt/Option+Shift during startup or Move the folder with Illy closed.
If it is not something in the Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder, it may be (with tests):
    1. Corrupt font(s): you may move all fonts out of the Windows fonts folder (and move them back in);
    2. Firewall interference (especially if more than one is running (XP SP2 adds one if activated)): you may turn them off (and on again);
    3. Some versions of Acrobat generate many temp files. Too many (64K) causes the problem: you may search and destroy Temp files;
    4. Some other inconsistency caused by Adobe Acrobat/Reader: you may try uninstalling and reinstalling (a newer version).
    5. Incompatible/old printer definition file for the default printer: you may upgrade the driver, change the default, or set the PostScript driver/PDF to default;
    6. Using a US/English version of Illustrator with Windows set to a different language: you may enter Control Panel>Regional and Language Setteings and change to English (and change back).
    7. Quicktime/iTunes: uninstall Quicktime and make sure the Quicktime folder is deleted in the Program Files folder; and/or uninstall iTunes.
If none of these possible solutions work, have you made any (other) changes to the PC between succes and failure? New software loaded?
In the end, you may have to rebuild. In that case, remember to use the Cleanup: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html

  • Last updated Illustrator CC 2014 works very slowly

    Hello everyone!
Today I reintall Windows 8.1 (64bit) on my PC with all possible updates. After this I installed Illustrator CC 2014. It began to work ve-e-e-ery slowly, to hang up. Often not responce to any command. Task manager shows that proccesor works for 13-15% and uses just one core (is it normal?).
Illustrator CC, which I use before reinstall Windows 8.1, worked well.
    Configuration PC:
    AMD FX-8320 (3.5@4 GHz, 8 cores)
    32 GB RAM DDR3 1333
SSD OCZ Agility 4, 240 GB
    Videocard AMD R9 270X 2GB
MB Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 (BIOS FFe 07/10/2012)
Tablet Wacom Bamboo Fun Medium (CTE-650) with mostly new drivers
Please, help And forgive me for my English.

When you uninstall Illustrator, the preference files might have been retained, and also any third-party plug-ins that are installed will likely remain on your system, either of those could possibly be the cause of the problem you are experiencing.
Preferences might have corrupted somehow. You can reset these by doing the following:
Launch Illustrator and then press Alt+Control+Shift (Win) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac) as you start Illustrator.
If you have installed any third-party plug-ins, I'd start by removing those first of all. Something as simple as an outdated font-activation add-in could cause start-up crashes. IOW: check first to see if your plug-ins are all compatible with the version of Illustrator you are using.
When Illustrator isn't launched. Go to the Applications/ProgramFiles folder on your computer, and locate the Illustrator program folder, inside it is a Plug-ins folder. You can check if third-party plug-ins are the cause of the crash by temporarily dragging them out of that folder, and relaunching Illustrator after that.
Hopefully Illustrator will launch past the Welcome Screen after doing that.
Let us know how you go. If you are still experiencing problems, see if you can provide us with some extra information such as whether you are on Windows or Macintosh, what system version you are running, etc. Mylenium has included a useful link for this as well.
    Cari

  • Error message when running updates

I keep getting an error message when updating my CS programs. "This update from the internet cannot be completed. Please try again later."
I bought a Canon 6D and the Adobe Camera Raw won't work because it isn't the latest version and that it needs the latest PS version to run the latest Raw version and I can't get either update. Help?

Cameras by ACR version:  Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Programs by ACR version: Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
You should be able to update CS5 without getting an error which is ostensibly what this thread is about, but you are correct in needing CS6 to use ACR 7.3 which is the minimum version of ACR that supports the 6D natively.  You can use the DNG Converter to make DNGs that the older ACR will read, but that has nothing to do with images already processed in LR, because LR knows newer adjustments than your CS5's ACR 6 does.
To go from LR to PS you'll need to use Edit In PS CS5 and when you see the message about ACR being too old, choose Render using LR Adjustments and Don't Ask Again if that is also an option.  This will cause LR to render a TIF or PSD (whatever you've chosen in the External Editing area of LR Preferences).  If you don't see a message about ACR being too old because you've selected Don't Ask Again previously then you can click the Reset Warning Dialogs button in Preferences and get a chance to answer the question differently if need be.
