So you have loaded the Shockwave ActiveX control in
Authorware?
Then pointed the control to the Director movie you want it to
load?
Is the Director movie definitely available to the Authorware
piece in
the place it is expecting it?

  • Importing Director movies into Flash

My short Q, which I suspect is a FAQ though it doesn't appear
on the Director or Flash FAQs on the Macromedia (sorry, Adobe ;-))
site, is: how can you import Director movies (source .dir, or
published .dcr) into a Flash movie?
I had thought this would be simple, that Flash would have an
import filter for Shockwave movies, as after all both products come
from the same stable and you can import .swf movies into Director,
but not so, at least in my copy of Flash 8. Neither can Director
export as a .swf - the only export format that might just work is
.avi but I'm damned if I want to create a big video file just to
reuse a snippet from a Director movie. I did a quick Google search
for DCR->SWF converters but couldn't see anything obvious to
    use.
The reason I'm bothered about this is that we've produced a
lot of e-learning material in Director (a good third of our
    learning objects at
    http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/nursing/sonet/rlos/rlolist.html
use Shockwave movies) and although we've now moved on to Flash,
occasionally we want to be able to reuse snippets from Director
movies in Flash movies. It would be disappointing, to put it
mildly, were we not able to move content between software
applications produced by the same company...
    TIA for any answers/suggestions.
    Cheers

I feel your pain an don't know what's going to happen with
Director now that Adobe is involved.
You mentioned that you could export as avi, could you copy
the scenes in which you want to use into a new director file,
export that as an avi and conver t that to an flv?
    Just a thought.

  • Can I import Director movies into Flash?

    Hi,
Can Flash handle Director movies? I am making a presentation
of my artworks in Flash environment; I have both Flash and Director
movies. I know that I can import all my swf movies into Director
MX2004 to create a standalone projector and play both swf an ddir
movies. Does it work for the reverse?
    Thanks
    Uti

No, you can't import or display Director movies in Flash in
    any way. Best
you can do is launch the Director executable from the Flash
    movie, though
how you do this depends on which version of Flash you are
    using.

  • Previous version of Director Movie - cannot be updated

I am upgrading my previous director movies and get an error "This Director movie was created with a much earlier version of Director. It cannot be updated".
I am using Director 12 and I think the .dir and .cst files were used pre Director 8.5. I know I should open them in 8.5 and convert and then maybe have to do this again in v12? But I do not have version 8.5. Does Adobe or can anyone offer the service of updating previous versions of my director movies? Any suggestions?
    OSX Mavericks, Director 12
I have just tried to open my Director 11 but all I get is a white black screen.
    kind regards
    Tristan

Sorry for being a bit grumpy – I find the Director forum a bit hard to deal with, when people criticize D12.
Being able to produce iPad apps is a MIRACLE for me
But, I do understand where you’re coming from – RE: making iPad apps is NOT as easy as making Windows & Mac projectors.
How times have changed – you can’t even make a Windows / Mac projector without it coming up with so many warnings re: unsigned program / who made this? Ect… - which puts most people off.
(Rumour is that the next Apple OSX will only install apps from their app store. )
When I have more time, I’ll post some more of my ios / iPad demos.
I also understand the suicide comment (lol) – I’m working on a very expensive iPad app, which works great for about 20 minutes, then it bombs out.
    If this helps >
If you make a D11.5 mac projector, and it asks for shockwave 11 to install – yet it’s not a shockwave file but a projector???
Try NOT inbedding the xtras into the projector – but have them in an ‘xtras’ folder outside of the file.
Just make sure you put all the xtras ‘you use’ in the folder!
    This should fix this problem.
One of your xtras is not being inbedded? / is missing? – so director tries to find it by downloading shockwave – but when it tries, it downloads the latest shockwave 12 – when it really needs the older xtra from shockwave 11 to work.
    resX could be replaced by…
if the runmode <> "Author" then
the stageColor = the stageColor -- removes the white flash
        (the stage).rect =  (the desktopRectList)[1]
(the stage).drawRect = (the desktopRectList)[1] -- this makes the stage full screen!
    end if
pom (print’o’matic) could be replaced by…
print() – move text & graphics to a flash object first!
    Thanks.

  • File Error importing .mov

Here's the background... I'm trying to import a .mov file I've gotten from a friend's wedding DVD. Used Handbrake to convert the wedding DVD to the individual files. The handbrake output was a MPG4. FCP wouldn't import that. So, took the MPG4 to Quicktime and then exported that as a .mov. I get the message...
"File error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access deinied, 1 unknown."
What am I doing wrong. Just want to help him re-edit his wedding video.
    Thanks for the help.

it doesnt sound like you are doing anything wrong. can you open the file in quicktime (yes), then you should be able to open it in FCP. I have done the same thing numerous times. In quicktime take the mp4 and export a 'movie to quicktime movie'. settings, uncompressed (10 bit if you can) audio = best (the best settings for both). Make sure your project in final cut matches your qt output and import the footage.

  • Why do I get an error importing .mov files in Lightroom 4.2 RC

I have Lightroom 4.2 RC on a Windows 7 desktop and laptop. Mov files from a Nikon D4 import fine on the desktop, but I get an error importing the same files on my laptop and they get skipped. My laptop is actually newer and more powerful than my desktop.

I was getting this message: "There is a problem with the video file" when attempting to import video files on Lightroom 4.1 (and after upgrading to 4.2) on Win7/64-bit.
The video files were M-JPEG/AVI and H.264/MP4.
Seeing a recommendation elsewhere, I uninstalled DivX and rebooted.
This resolved the issue for me!
Perhaps it will work for you, too, William.

  • Error importing MOV file to Premiere

I am trying to import an .MOV file into CS5 premiere on my macbook pro. I keep getting the error "no audio or video streams".  I downloaded the original file as a MPG from a website called DVIDShub.net where we upload and download video for media to use.  I converted the file from MPG to MOV using Wondershare Video Converter and neither format works. I have checked other forums and discussions but they didn't help in my situation.
    Any help?
    Thanks

As far as I know (not very far, some days) CS5 should directly use an MPG file... unless the file has somehow become corrupt, or the codec inside that file is something odd
For a Mac, use http://mediainspector.massanti.com/ to examine the file(s) and report back with details... maybe someone will be able to suggest a fix

  • Importing a  .mov into imovie -quicktime error -2048

I recorded with imovie-isight (1,5Gb) , stopped recording, and then restarted powerbook without saving. After restart .mov -file was in trash-folder. I dragged file onto desktop, afterwards into movies-file. I tried importing, dragging, double clicking on file, with no result(imovie- itunes- quicktime) I get a error text: file.mov cannot be imported because quicktime cannot process file (-2048) (translated from dutch-the words might not be correct)
Can anyone help me to recover this movie? -osx 10.4.8/imovie 6.0.3 on powerbook 1GHz
    Thanks!
    G4-1,67   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The file was improperly "closed" and required data is missing from the file.
It would be easier to trash the file and start again than to try and "fix" it with a Hex editor.

  • Can we import a Director movie into Flash ?

I'm exploring a possibility of importing a Director movie into Flash or if it is possible to import a published Director movie into Flash.
    Anticipating your reply....
    Thanks,
    -Mithun

As I may have mentioned in the other thread where you asked this, No.  You can not.  You can import a flash swf into Director but you can not import anything from Director into Flash.

Most likely the file cannot work directly in FCE.
Please provide details on the file properties.

  • Error -2002 when importing quicktime movie clips into iMovie Project

When I import QuickTime movie clips into my project, the scroll bar fills about 1/3 of the way, and then I get this message:
Can't open file "DSCN0812.MOV"; skipping it and continuing. I CLICK "OK," and then this message appears:
    Error during import
The file could not be imported: (-2002)
This happens to every movie clip. Anyone have any idea what's happening here?
    Thanks!

I guess, you try to import 'moving images' from a still cam, right? these are in a codec (=mov is no format, just a container) , iM doesn't support. Use the free tool *Mpeg Streamclip* www.squared5.com to convert these files to 'dv stream' BEFORE importing to iMovie.

  • Importing a director movie in a director movie

I hope someone can help me. I'm trying to import a director
    movie in another director movie.
I'm trying to do this because i want to publish a website
with a background sound. So i done a director movie with only the
sound and the on/of button. Inside this movie i want to import my
homepage with all the links. In this way i should obtain a movie
with sound and controls (on/of) that contains the site without the
sound with all the pages. in this way the sound loops 4ever and
when i click sound off this command will be valid for all the
pages. (i don't know if it's correct but it should work...).
The problem is: importing the director movie, the navigation
don't work properly (roll over member change don't works, the links
with the oter movie don't works and so on). I also checked that
"enable script is on... but it don't works.... is there someone
    able to help me? Thankyou
    Andrea

    Imported director movie's don't share a flash movie clip's
    versatilaty,
there may be better approaches. By the way to get scripts to
    function
one has to import a director movie as a linked external
    director file.
The sound play file command is one way to get a sound to
    persist through
multiple movies, this external sound file play function
    should work with
    shockwe.

  • Importing a Director movie version 6

    Hello,
I want to play a director 6.0 movie in Authorware 7.2.
The TechNote says "Director movies version 6.5 or earlier can
be imported into Authorware through the Digital Movie Icon. "
I imported an easy Director movie without problems. But when
I push the play button Authorware crashes.
In the Authorware file is only the Digital movie icon.
    Have anyone an idea?

Can you point me to that tech note?
I think version 5 or earlier could be played through the
    movie icon (it
may even have been an earlier version of Director....Can't
    remember)
    So you have 2 choices:
    1. Get the Shockwave player installed.
    2. Don't use a Director 6 movie.

  • How to import 150 .mov (quicktime) clips into iMovie '11?

    Hello,
Newbie to iMovie and having some trouble.  My wedding videographer took off with my wedding footage (and the footage of 100 other couples.)  Through the police and some of my own detective work, I was able to seize my wedding footage and have it on an external hard drive.  I have already spent thousands of dollars trying to recoup my footage and now that I finally have it, I don't have the extra money to have it made into an actual movie/dvd.
All of the more than 150 clips are in .mov format and I am unable to import them into iMovie that way.  Any ideas on how to convert that many HD clips into a file that iMovie will recognize without losing video quality & sound?
    For tech info:
    iMac 10.8.3
    iMovie '11
    Clip Info:
    Dimensions: 1920x1080
    Codecs: H.264, Linear PCM
    Color Profile: 1-1-6
    Audio Channels: 2
Thanks for your help!  This community is a great amazing resource and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to offer suggestions.
    Katie

I did it!  I realized after 2 hours of it not working, that I was doing it 1 step wrong.  I was trying to import the actual file with all the clips, rather than just the clips themselves...  Silly error, and the import of .mov files into iMovie was seemelss..  Quality is great and didn't take long.  Thanks again.

  • Why can i see the Flash animation that I have embedded in a Director movie only on some computers?

The SWF file is linked and plays on my computer and on one of the intended computers but not the others even though they are similarly configured (my computer is completely different and I also have the entire Adobe Master Suite along with Director the other machines essentially just have M$ Office). The Director movie has a SWF with the following asset properties:
    Media: Linked, Yes; Preload, Yes
Playback: Image, Yes; Paused/Sound/Loop/Direct to Stage, all No
    Quality: High
    Scale Mode: Auto-Size
    Rate: Normal
    Scale: 100%
The SWF file is located in the same folder as the projector.
I'm using Director 11.5. The end users are on several corporate laptops that are all configured the same to begin with. They are all running Windows XP and of course do not have Director installed on them. I know the file works as it is intended to on the one computer but the rest all fail in a similar way (not including mine obviously which works fine). This to me says that it was published and created correctly but something is missing or setup wrong on those computers which is keeping it from displaying properly.
Here's the part that is really killing me, I had some extra time one day and sat down for several hours trying different things (installing Flash players, Shockwave players, basically taking shots in the dark with the thought that the computers were missing some plugin, etc) trying to get it to run appropriately and... I figured it out!! Unfortunately I didn't have the time or permissions to repeat the process on the other laptops and now (7-8 weeks later) I can't figure out what I did to make the first one work. I know it's possible and I know it works on that laptop, but when I try using the exact same files/folder on the other laptops it gets to the frame where the animation is supposed to play and it just shows a little repeating elipses (...) animation in the corner. At first I took this to mean it was loading so I waited and waited but it never loads anything. The laptop that works shows the animation immediately and perfectly.

    Hi,
    sorry for my English
I think Your Local Path Stored in Member ex:"D:\\...." In Client machine that path is not available so
    Use Script
    member("xx").filename = _movie.path&"Foldername/filename.swf"
    or
    Import swf in local cast
    or
If you are not use Projector.Use Shockwave html then use DSWMEDIA folder to store swf file.
    member("xx").filename = _movie.path&"DSWMEDIA/filename.swf"
