Error importing Indeo 5.1 AVIs into Premiere Pro CS5
I have several files that were encoded with Indeo 5.1 via Premiere Pro CS4 that I cannot edit in CS5. On import Premiere CS5 only recognizes the audio tracks and does not bring in the video. I have tested multiple files and the same is true for all of them, and the files can play fine via Windows Media Player (audio and video work).
Any help would be much appreciated.

Camera used:-Sony Pmw Ex3
Footage :- XDCAM sp(1440 * 1080i) PAL
Edited in :-final cut pro 7
Error :- failed to import .xml file into premiere pro cs5
I tried to import the .xml file into premiere CS5 ,it asked for the media files to relink .whn i linked the .mp4 files it showed the error messege "The selected file cannot be linked becouse it has 2 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 1 audio channel(s).
then i tried to relink the .mov instead of .mp4 file (which i used in final cut pro on apple machine)i got the error "Codec missing or unavailable"
what should i do???..i almost done all the editing in final cut pro and i bought the adobe coz i thought i can finish all the pending FCP projects in Premier Pro..??What is the CODEC in your MOV file(s)? MOV is but a "wrapper," like AVI. This ARTICLE will give you some background. It could be that you just need the proper CODEC, or it could be that it is a Mac-only CODEC, and then you will need for the producer to Export in another CODEC, that is PC-compatible.

Error Importing Premiere Elements project into Premiere Pro CS5
Hi,
I am working on a multi-part video project that I started in Premiere Elements 8. I put in hours upon hours of editing on the first part and I found that the more I edited, the more often the program would crash (infuriating!). So I started using Premiere Pro CS5 to produce the second part, resolving to come back to the first part later. Well, I've come back around to needing this first part done, and it is just undoable in Elements (crashes every 20 seconds!). I'd like to import that project into CS5 if possible. The help documentation says this should be perfectly possible... but I'm having no luck.
When I attempt to open my Premiere Elements project in Premiere Pro, it tells me the project must be converted from Elements .prel to Pro .prproj, and I click through the prompts as normal. But then as soon as it starts trying to open the project, I get this:
"The Project could not be loaded. It may be damaged or contain outdated elements."
I downloaded the Premiere Elements 9 trial to see if it would be less crashy (and it is), but I'd really prefer to have all my video in one program, and CS5 does the best job (and has most of my hours invested). Elements 9 opens the "damaged" project just fine and I can edit and export normally, so why can't CS5?
Am I stuck recreating the project from the ground up in CS5?In very general terms, a contemporary PrE Project (PREL), will Open in PrPro, with the steps that you outlined.
Now, there are all sorts of considerations, for aspects that will not likely work:
Instant Movie/Themes, as PrPro cannot read those
Some Effects that PrPro does not have, like the NewBlue FX
Some Transitions that PrPro does not have
Some Title animation Presets, that PrPro does not have
Do you have any of the above in your PrE Project? There are probably other circumstances, but those are all that come immediately to my mind.
The simpler the PrE Project, the greater the likelyhood that it will Convert to a PrPro PRPROJ file.
PrE 8 and PrPro CS5 should be close enough to work, again in those general terms. I can Open simple PrE 4.0 Projects in PrPro 2.0, but cannot Open PrE 7, 8 or 9 Projects in PrPro 2.0.

Premiere Elements project imported into Premiere Pro CS5.5 becomes unusable after first save
I have Premiere Pro CS5.5, and I have been trying for some time to successfuly edit an old project that was originally created in Premiere Elements (not sure which version--probably 7.0). It has the .prel extension. The project imports just fine, and I am able to edit it initially. However, if I save my new Premiere Pro project, close Pr and try to open the new project again, I get the "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements." error message. I have tried many of the various project recovery suggestions people have made in this forum and elsewhere online, but none of them seem to work. I even opened the project in XML Wrench, but there were no errors returned when I clicked "check is well formed." Once I close the project after doing some initial editing, it is gone. Is this a known issue? Is there any way I can be able to edit the old project in Pr and save my work? Thanks!
Have you tried using the project manager to re-copy all elements and timeline etc into a totally new directory. I'm just curious to see if that would make a difference. I'd be intrested to see if when making a new project in this manor if it would because as you have stated the normal save methods haven't.

Here are the details of my problem:
Premiere Pro 2014 (up to date)
Mac book Pro OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 with 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor
Source footage includes a variation of codecs as follows: H.264 in a .mov container, 1920 x 1080 Apple Pro Res 422, Linear PCM
There are no error messages, the import into Premiere Pro 2014 begins normally but the "progress bar" never starts and then after about 10 seconds a blank white box appears followed by the pinwheel.
When the problem occurred I was trying to import a fcp7 project's xml file into Premiere Pro.
I emailed Adobe Support Tech the fcp7 xml file and it crashed his computer, however, I was able to successfully import one clip from fcp7 (an Apple ProRes 422, Linear PCM, duration 1 minute) from the fcp 7 project into Premiere Pro, but not the whole project or the bare essentials (the cut itself).
I am not running other software
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? Not that I know of...
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU). ??????

The problem only happen when I try to import the FCP7 xml project file into Premiere ProHi Lynn,
Have you inspected the XML file for any anomalies? That might be a way to see if any third party effects were used.

Importing IMX50 footage into Premiere Pro CS5.5

I've been trying to import a Final Cut 6 project into Premiere Pro CS 5.5 without any success. The footage is originally imx 50 codec. I do an xml import and I get a error message saying it cant read the .mov codec. It can see the sequence but can't associate any of the footage to it. I also tried transcoding the FCP sequnce to prores and then doing an xml export but with exactly the same result! Can anybody help?Hi Colin,

Importing .mts AVCHD files into Premiere Pro CS5.5: can it be done?
Is it possible to import .mts files from a memory card into Premiere Pro? Whenever I try to, I get a message that reads "Codec not supported".
My camera is a Sony Alpha A55, and this worked perfectly well in Final Cut Pro X.I am not using the Sony Alpha A55 which might use a different codec than my other Sony's (CX-550V and HX5V) BUT I am using PP on an iMac. For different reasons (one of which being that I already used this approach with FCE), I am converting my raw mts files into mov files using ClipWrap ($50, very fast, they have a trial version for download). This has many advantages:
- the footage is UNTOUCHED. It is just put into a different container.
- the mov files are WATCHABLE in the Finder (and everywhere else, including PP).
- the mts files can be dragged and dropped (without bothering about the folder structure) directly into ClipWrap (or first on your HD if you want).
This being said, my experience is that even those files are too much for my (I thought) powerful iMac to scrub through once basic editing has started. So I resorted to transcoding to proxy mpeg2 intermediate files (so that I don't fill up my HD too quickly) and only before exporting my sequence, replace the proxy footage by the original (well converted) mov files. I am still working out the ideal workflow...
Try the ClipWrap demo to see if the codec is supported. If not, they are a very responsive company and will most likely update their software rapidly (for free).

Can Premiere Elements 10.0 or 9.0/9.0.1 Saved Project.Prel be Imported into Premiere Pro CS5/CS5.5?
The Premiere Pro CS5 Supported Video Project file formats include:
PREL (Adobe Premiere Elements project) (Windows Only)

and we know that the Premiere Elements project file is a project.prel.
Yet if you read the Premiere Elements 10 ReadMe, you see there the statement:
"You cannot import Adobe Premiere Elements 10.0 project into Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 or CS 5.5.".

I am wondering if the person who wrote that into the ReadMe forgot to add "for Mac".
Can anyone with both Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 or 10.0 AND Premiere Pro CS5 or CS5.5 (all Windows) confirm what is written in the ReadMe for these version? I do not have Premiere Pro (any version) to confirm and refute what is written in those ReadMe and am looking for someone who has been there and looked at that.

I am still using XP-Pro SP3 on all of my active machines. I am also using PrPro CS2 Production Studio, and PrE 4.0 on only my laptop. I have the recent versions of both PrPro and PrE, but am waiting for my 64-bit Win7 laptop to be built (hang up with Cleveo MoBo's, to be resolved by about May).
When I installed PrE 4.0, it DID break the full CS2 suite, but by that point, Adobe knew of the issue, and had done a KB on the problem. In my case, just doing a Repair Install for each program in the CS2 suite, did the trick, and both programs have run, side-by-side for many years, without a hiccup. However, I have NOT uninstalled any of those Adobe programs, so cannot comment on what might go wrong.
Usually, Adobe programs coexist well. However, PrPro had an issue with CS3 and CS4. If one had both PrPro CS3 and CS4 installed on the same computer, then uninstalled CS3, it took some necessary "pieces" of CS4 with it. Again, the "trick" was to do a Repair Install for CS4, and all was fixed. I have not read of any other, such issues, but they might have just gone unreported, or reported in forums, that I do not frequent.
Wish that I had more to offer, especially regarding PrPro CS 5.5 and PrE 10. I just have not explored those programs, yet - late May?

Can you import a slideshow from Encore into Premiere Pro 2.0?
I would like to combine video with a slide show - as well as use some of the functions in Premiere Pro in conjunction with a slideshow created in Encore.
Is it possible to import a slide show created in Encore into Premiere Pro?Not really, no.
It might be possible to rip a DVD with your Encore slideshow, but I don't know how well PPro would handle it, and any audio would likely have to be converted to WAV. -

I am new on Adobe forums and I nedd a question answered.
I have seen that there is no definite answer on how to import .mts files from my Canon Vixia HFR20 to Premiere Pro CS5.5.
I get "The file has an unsupported compression type" message. For now I convert the videos to .AVI but i would why would I continuosly convert them?
I bought the camera mainly for the HD, so help soon would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe you have gotten the revert to trial bug and lost your options to play these files since they dont play in the trial version.

Avid DNxHD into Premiere Pro CS5.5?
Howdy. New to Premiere Pro and trying the demo. Unfortunately I'm having a issues right off the bat.
I'm trying to import Avid DNxHD 36 media from Media Composer 5.5. But I get some issue saying that the codec isn't supported. Am I wrong that DNxHD is supposed to be native in Premiere Pro CS5+?
Thanks!I wouldn't be surprised if REDCineX was using FFmpeg under the hood for that! Definitely use FFmbc for such things, however--it's got more functionality built-in for professional media. It's MXF support is waaay better than FFmpeg's.
BTW: The Premiere Pro docs are rather tight-lipped and inconclusive about the whole matter...

Importing Hauppauge mpeg-2 .ts to Premiere Pro CS5
So I started a project to convert our VHS family videos into digital format. I used a Hauppauge HVR and it generated a bunch of giant video files.
I tried to open them in premiere pro cs5 and it won't recognize them. The extension hauppauge uses is ".ts" (transport stream) which is an mpeg-2 encoded TS. I saw that ".m2ts" is supported so I just changed the extension. Adobe opened it and it seems to work.

Nope... well, barring the fact that you captured to a highly compressed format, which you'll be editing and (presumably) compressing again for output (like a DVD). But hey, whatever works for ya...
