Error importing Pages 8 (3.0.3) into Pages 5.5

I recently purchased a new iMac with Pages 5.5 included. When I try to open my older Pages files they will not open and I get the following error:
This document can't be opened because it is too old. To open it, save it with Pages '09 first
Unfortunately - I don't have Pages 9 and there is no way (that I can find) to download a copy to convert the older documents.
Seriously *** APPLE !!! As IF the new version of Pages CAN NOT OPEN the EFFING documents. Now how do I deal with the hundreds of documents I've created over the years and use for business? What kind of stupidity to include a new version of an app that won't open older files?
Someone at Apple answer this and tell me and others WHY you've done this and HOW we open the files? If I can't open them I can guarantee you I'll be deleting these foolish applications and installing Word again which I swore I'd never do...but why would anyone trust Apple to recreate documents again when you pull this sort of BS!?

Yeah, Pages v5 does not support RTF, or Pages '08 documents. I have found however, that uploading that Pages '08 document to the online service zamzar can convert it into an MS Word document that can in turn, open in Pages v5 or later. Takes about 5 minutes to get an email with a download link to the converted document.
It looks like you will need an AppleScript conversion tool to export those Pages '08 documents into MS Word .doc files. Of course, once you have done that, why not just look into the forthcoming Office for Mac 2015 as a more future-proof standard?
If you want to set up a folder action so that dropped Pages '08 documents are converted into Word, let me know.

HELP: errors importing calendars from 10.4 iCal into 10.6 iCal

I'm migrating my computing environment from my ppc/10.4.11 machines to my new MBP13" running 10.6 . Until now most things went flawlessly, but there is a BIG problem with my calendars. I can't get all of them to import, and the worse thing is I don't even know where things go wrong.
The system.log shows messages like:
expecting "END", found 'X-WR-OCCTRIGGER' as token type 48
Component boundaries mismatch (VEVENT VALARM / VCALENDAR VEVENT / VEVENT VALARM)
Cal not a ICSCalendar <followed by a quote in the Notes section>
Cal not a ICSCalendar *nil description*
What to do??? I cannot allow myself to loose those calendars, but at the same time I have to find a workaround as the 10.4 version of iCal doesn't run on 10.6 ...

I tried that (of course ). That's how I first found the errors I reported. BTW, the better way is to use the "backup" or "backup database" command from the File menu. That one includes all calendars, and their publishing settings.
I hope I've managed to solve the problem, but only time will tell if/when I miss appointments... I still had a disk with a 10.5 install to boot my Powerbook off. iCal "10.5" also yelled at me when importing the backup made from iCal "10.4" but seems to have imported everything. A backup made from that iCal version opened without further issues in iCal "10.6".
I presume Apple must not have considered that people might actually upgrade from 10.4 to 10.6 without running 10.5 first. I would have had, but I found my PowerPC machines really too sluggish under that version (and after all, 10.4 worked just fine )

Unkown error importing avi files into imovie

I'm having unkown errors importing any of my avi files into imovie all of a sudden. I have imported these files to make movies previously (all the files are straight from my Canon digital camera).
Any Ideas?

I created a site column at the root of my site and I have publishing turned on. I selected the Hyperlink with formatting and constraints for publishing.
I went to my subsite and added the column. The request was to have "Open in new tab" for their hyperlinks. I was able to get the column to be added and yesterday we added items without a problem.
The problem arose when, today, a user told me that he could not edit the hyperlink. He has modify / delete permissions on this list.
He would edit the item, in a custom list, and click on the address "click to add a new hyperlink" and then he would get the error below after succesfully putting in the Selected URL (http://www.xxxxxx.com), Open
Link in New Window checkbox, the Display Text, and Tooltip:

We are on IE 9.0.8.1112 x86, Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise Edition x64
The farm is running SharePoint 2010 SP2 Enterprise Edition August 2013 CU Mark 2, 14.0.7106.5002
and I saw in another post, below with someone who had a similar problem and the IISreset fixed it, as did this problem. I wonder if this is resolved in the latest updated CU of SharePoint, the April 2014 CU?

We had the same issue after applying the SP2 & August CU. we open the case with MSFT and get the same resolution as you mentioned.
I blog about this issue and having the office reference.
Later MSFT release the Hotfix for this on December 10, 2013 which i am 100% positive should be part of future CUs.
So if you apply the April CU then you will be fine.

I have posted this question a few times. These forums are useless for all but the simplest of problems.
Here is what you can do, of course it is unsupported, and may or may not break with a future release - all I can say is that it works in 10.1.3
In your loginmodule login() method, add the JAZNContextCallback to your callbacks array, then after the callbacks are handled you can access the request in the following way:
HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) ((JAZNContextCallback)callbacks[2]).getContextObject(JAZNContextCallback.HTTP_SERVLET_REQUEST, null);
You can then add the error message to the request and your jsp or whatever will be able to access it.
By the way, JAZNContextCallback is contained in the jazncore.jar file.

Error importing composite with business rules into SVN

When I import a composite with business rules into Tortoise SVN I get below error.

Further invesitgation bears this problem out.
Oracle support recommend wrapping the SimpleType in a ComplexType. This does work, but now I have an extra wrapper element to deal with. I either have to use the wrapped type in my other complex, composed Types and/or add an external wrapping element when trying to create Business Services in BPM to call the BusinessRules I've created.
This is a bit messy.
To be clear, this does not seem to be an issue with Business Rules; the BR editor and generation of Facts (including simple restricted types -> JAXB 2.0/Java Enumerations) seems to work correctly. There seems to be an issue exposing DFs as Services. The code which generated the WSDL and its supporting types seems to choke on restricted SimpleTypes.
As a side note, it seems that HumanTasks have a similar limitation

Importing pages and folders into a site

How do I import pages and folders into a site? Dreamweaver
must be able to account for all additions and changes, so that it
can update as appropriate. We know it is not a good idea to move
stuff into a site via the Finder (on the Mac, for instance). But
when I search LiveDocs, and this forum, I find no pointers for
bringing whole pages and folders into an existing site.

Copy/paste within your site's root folder. They will be there
when you go
to the site in DW.
HOWEVER, if a page you are copying requires files external to
the page,
those files must be copied in as well. And, they must be in
the same folder
names that they were in prior to the copy.

Error on passing paramter names longer than 16 char on portal import page

After created a transport set, we used portal import page to import it.
However, when we select that transport set and click "import", an 404 error occured right away. The url is:

When we check the Apache error logs, it seemed all parameter names that are longer than 16 characters in the page's html form were passed wrongly. Those characters
after the 16th character of the parameters' names were some unreadable or wrong
ones. For example, P_EXPLICIT_MODE_EDS was passed as P_EXPLICIT_MODE_ËâN to the
backend pl/sql procedure and that's why there was a "SIGNATURE (parameter names)
MISMATCH" error I think.
My question is actually why the internal portal pages couldn't pass parameter
names that are longer than 16 characters. Are there some settings wrong with
the portal metadata database or oracle portal itself, or even our linux system? Was it because maybe we set the multilanguage-support for our portal?

Found a note explaining the significance of these errors.
It says:
"NZE-28862: SSL connection failed
Cause: This error occurred because the peer closed the connection.
Action: Enable Oracle Net tracing on both sides and examine the trace output. Contact Oracle Customer support with the trace output."

How do I prevent errors importing foreign characters into subtitles for DVD studio pro?
I have figured out just about everything necessary for creating subtitle tracks in several foreign languages, but the only problem is that some individual characters in some languages (like the "open quotation mark" symbol in Lithuanian!) do not import properly into the subtitle track. I can type or paste the symbols in manually, but this means doing it hundreds of times in several different languages, and defeats the purpose of using the system I've created.
Does anyone know how to import some of these odd characters.
I import characters using a text file saved in Unicode-16, and I set the language of the track to the proper language (for instance, Lithuanian).
I can't find the answer anyway, and really am stumped!!

i think i might have figured out a solution. it's a quirk in the program. i noticed that sometimes the quotation marks DO actually import, but only if they are in the middle of a sentence. they only FAIL to import at the beginning of a sentence. so, what i did was to paste a space before the beginning of every sentence with a weird low-down quotation mark, and it imported fine.
and it also seems to kill two birds with one stone, because sometimes it seems that DVD studio pro cuts off a few pixels at the beginning of a line -- so with a space inserted it just cuts off...nothing.

Error Importing - Disk Space when there is plenty of Space

Hello,
I am trying to import small .avi movies into iMovies. When I do, it states that there is a Error Importing due to not enough Disk Space. I have 24GB of disk space available, however, inside the iMovie application it states that there is only 20kb available. Has anyone come across this?

I had the same problem. The following steps worked for me.
1. In iTunes on my Mac, on the Summary page for my iPhone, under "Options" I clicked "sync only checked songs and videos."
2. On the "Music" page, I clicked Sync Music and then clicked "Selected playlists, albums," etc. underneath.
3. IMPORTANT! make sure that the "automatically fill free space with songs" is NOT clicked. My computer kept clicking that one automatically and I had to keep turning it off.
4. I clicked one playlist or album at a time and watched the status bar (below) to see how much space was being taken up (the blue line).
5. When I had as much music as I wanted, I clicked Apply.
It turned out that I had one play list which, for some unknown reason, had a huge number of songs on it and that was clogging up the works. When I unchecked it, I had enough room for the rest.

Problem importing page

We here have different enviroments (DEV, TEST and PROD). When we started using Apex here, we exported the WS from Dev and imported it in the other environments so we would be able to export/import individual pages between envs - at least that is what I thought!
Today I just tried it, and got the error:

Page Origin:      This page was exported from a different application or from an application in different workspace. Page cannot be installed in this application.
The application IDs are indeed different (the source one is 154). That is why it didn't work? I can only import pages into the same app ID as the source? Any reason for that?
If this is the case, when I move whole applications across envs, I have to use the same app IDs I presume?

Any reason for that?
The assumption is that if the application IDs are different (installed "target" application ID vs. the application ID in the page export file) that the two applications will have different internal IDs for all of the components, and of particular concern are the IDs of shared components not contained in the page export but referenced by the page.
If you know the applications are really "the same" in terms of the internal IDs then you can edit the application ID in the page export file (in this case to 154 -- I think, although you said "the source one is 154" but the output says "Export File Application: 124") and try that page install again. But really the only way they could have the required consistency is if you used SQL*Plus to install the application 124 export as application 154 by editing the application ID in the file, changing 124 to 154 in several places (or the other way around depending on what's really going on).
