Error importing Quicktime Ref file

Until yesterday i could import a quicktime reference file from AVID to AME. Since today i get the message that the file may be corrupted. I did a test with different files (also with files which worked until yesterday) and i got always  the same error message. I didn`t made any changes in my settings.
Last thing i tried: I imported the "corrupted" file into After effects and made a composition. The composition was accepted by AME without any errors.

That's how I got to Adobe, when Media Composer 6 came out with all the issues.  I uninstalled Avid completely, went to the Adobe Cloud thinking the grass was greener with all the hype.  I do high end weddings and my sequences are normally anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour long and I grade every single clip.  That means hundreds or over a thousand or so clips and lots of noise removal for the reception parts.  The built in filters for color grading in Premiere is way too hard to use and are nothing like anything I have ever used to color grade with, so the only options were Colorista or go to After Effects and use Color Finesse.  Don't like Colorista, way to limiting, if you have ever done real color grading, you will know what I mean.  Adobe Dynamic Link for the first couple of clips works okay but soon every time you move in Premiere you have to wait 30 seconds or more for the frame to come up, even with quality turned all the way down.   When I finally would finish a project and try to open in Encore it would take 20 minutes to open, would work a little and then Encore would crash.   Wait another 20 minutes for it to open, repeat the process over and over again.  Tried to encode the project first in AME and it was not unusual to get 10 hours into an encode and then Adobe would just stop encoding for no reason (lots of others having same issues, no fix just lots of troubleshooting and workarounds).  When I finally did get through the  22 hours render if there was no issues with the project I would take it into Encore where things would go faster but Encore has lots of issues (can't burn directly to disk, you have to built to a folder and then burn that to disk and not to mention all the errors you get when trying to build to the folder).   If you are going to create DVDs and a Blu-rays you have to created projects in Encore for both from scratch.
Spent days every project reading forums where others are having the same issues, trying different workarounds and after finally getting it done, the next project running into the same issues.  I have only mentioned a couple of the issues I had and lots of other people are having also, with no real fixes, just lots of troubleshooting or workarounds.  Every project I would try something new like, I will try to simplify my work flow and try to do everything in Premiere and maybe it will work better and faster.  Color Finesse has a version that can work in Premiere Pro, so maybe if it works, I will buy it and work only in Premier.  Got the demo and nope, not only does it crash but Premier Pro does not through 32bit video to Color Finesse so that makes that program useless, glad I did not buy it.  According to Synthetic Aperture this is a Premiere thing and there solution was to send a product suggestion to Adobe.
Again, this is a brief overview of some of the issues I ran into without 99% of the details.  After months of trying to find a suitable workflow I had to give up.  After a few days of searching for a suitable workflow with Avid, I found one.  Now I add timecode to all video and tape names, transcode all video to DNxHD 36, (about 2 - 3 Hours) edit in Avid, with all titles speed effects etc, AAF to Resolve, color grade, render (about 1 to 2 hours)and back to Avid AAF DNxHD 175x check the final and export a QT Reference file (2 minutes to render out).  Final transcoding to a Blu-ray about 1 hour.  May not seem simple but it is, and things never get sluggish, everything just works that is until I get to Encore.  What was taking weeks in Adobe only takes days in Avid.
My suggestion before you make any permanent changes, complete a real project from start to finish and test the workflow with Adobe. Maybe it will work for you and your needs.  I know not every person is having every issue I have had, but I cannot imagine how anybody trying to use Adobe has got it working efficiently the way they advertise it to work.  No matter what anyone says, I would have to stand over their shoulder and watch them from start to finish to believe them.  Maybe the Matrox will speed things up a bit but I am not familiar with how all that works.  I know lots have complained about how Avid runs with Matrox.  The thing I can say about Avid is within a couple of day I was able to get around the defects of it and come up with a workflow that works, Adobe I was not, even after weeks and months of trying.
And yes I had issues with Avid before and a rebuild of the databases helped.

    Also if you have imported them then  this article gives a good understanding of how to tag these songs

    the other option would be to use an App like Audiobook Builder to stitch the tracks together in upto 12 hour long sections and sends to itunes automatically. It is available in the App Store. There are others available, Audiobook binder is free

    Hi Yogesh - when you say "i don't think the file is corrupt, because it works fine in eclipse", do you mean, you are actually able to publish them to a server and test those out?
    Dont know your exact scenario, but when you say that you took the sbconfig from another machine and used it on your local system, cant we just go ahead with that? I mean, clean up your code base, and then import this latest "working" sbconfig and start afresh?

  • Error importing from BIAR file (BO XI 3.0)

    Dear BO community,
    I am using the BIAR tool for backup purposes. For my backup, I use a properties file as input which looks like the one shown below:
    action=exportXML
    exportBiarLocation=C:/Temp/BOBackup.biar
    userName=Administrator
    password=XXX
    CMS=XXX:6400
    authentication=secEnterprise

    exportQuery1=select * from ci_infoobjects
    exportQuery2=select * from ci_systemobjects
    exportQuery3=select * from ci_appobjects
    exportQueriesTotal=3
    The file creation seems to work without any problems. A file is created. However, when importing the file into another CMS, I am getting the following error:
    Failed to open the BIAR file. Reason: com.businessobjects.sdk.biar.om.internal.iw.ObjectManagerIWException:Input/Output exception occurred: 'Couldn't find entry 'BusinessObjects.xml'.
    I have opened the BIAR file using a ZIP program and checked that there is no "businessobjects.xml" file in there. When creating BIARs using only a single query, this file exists and the import is no problem.
    Does anyone have an idea what's happening and can help me?
    Thank you and best regards!

  • Importing QuickTime Player Files

    I have iTunes 7.6.2 and a friend sent me a audiobook as QuickTime Player files. Now I want to add them to iTunes and listen to them there, but when I go to import and choose one of the files, it doesn't do anything. I can click it, it just doesn't respond. What should I do so that it will allow me to import them. Thanks.

    Here is a list of video formats supported  by Aperture:
    Aperture 3: About Video and Audio formats in Aperture:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4025?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Canon 5D Mark II
    .mov
    H.264
    640x480
    30
    For your Canon 5D only the H.264 is supposed to be supported; have you checked if the movies have been imported correctly from your camara by opening them in Quicktime or iMovie? I don't have your camera model, so I cannot try it myself, but usually Aperture should open the movies directly, without falling back on Quicktime.

  • Importing Quicktime Audio File into itunes

    I have a couple quicktime audio files that I'm trying to import into my itunes library. When I try to simply drag them into my itunes library it will not accept them.
    Also I tried using the import control from the itunes window, but when I choose the the quicktime file to import it also will not go into my library. These files where orginally windows media files inwhich I converted over using the "flip4mac" program to convert the windows media files to quicktime files, but neither file type will import into itunes.
    These files were simply voice recordings from a digital recorder, how do I get these audio files into my itunes library?? ... Thanks

    Ya, looks like the file is still a real WMA file and all that application did was give your QT the ability to play WMA files perhaps? I am not familiar with that one. You need to locate a WMA to MP3 file converter. Some that come to mind are MediaMonkey, EasyWMA, and there are many others. Those first two might both be shareware programs and I don't have any first hand experience with them. I really haven't had the need to do this type of conversion (yet) so haven't looked into the various applications. Perhaps someone reading this can chime in if they know any free ones that work.
    In the meantime, hit up versiontracker.com or download.com and do a search and see what you find. But the root cause of your problem is that the file is still in the wrong format for iTunes and iPod use.

  • Importing Quicktime .move file into iMovieHD

    I have been successfully pulling the files off a DVD using DVDxDV, and using that to export to Quicktime in .mov NTSC format. Then I can import into iMovie HD. It's been fine, but I have one file now that will not import. When i try to import it, it gives me an error message and says there isn't enough disk space to import it. But I was able to import other files, same size, and the window at the bottom of iMovie says there is more than 20 GB available. I thought maybe there was something wrong with that one file, so I went through the extraction process again, but that one file will still not import, even if I start a new empty project. The file is 1.4 GB, but the project has only about 25 minutes of video and this new file is about another 8 minutes.
    Does anyone have any ideas? I have a 1GHZ Power PC G4, with 768 meg ram.
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Pat

    if it is already in DV format you really do not have to import it
    There is a difference in .dv stream and a DV-encoded .mov:
    You can just put a plain .dv stream in the Media folder and iMovie will digest it OK (if it is the same PAL/NTSC and 4:3/16:9 spec as the receiving project).
    But this doesn't work with DV-encoded .mov files which the OP may have. iMovie HD will sort of imports it, but if you add a title, it will have bad artifacts.
    I prefer to use MPEG Streamclip which, unlike some of its rivals, allows to convert DVD/VOB/MPEG to .dv stream which is iMovie's native format. For some strange reason other apps can convert to only .mov.
    My only gripes with MPEG Streamclip are that the current version can't set the 4:3 or 16:9 flag to the exported .dv file (BTW, iMovie HD can't either!) and that it doesn't recognize QuickTime 7-style AIF format. The next version might fix these.

  • How can I find out the tempo of an imported quicktime audio file?

    Hi. I'm trying to improve my music production skills by emulating the tracks of techno artists that I like.
    My idea is to import one of their mp3 files into an audio track in Logic, so that I can see how they developed their songs.
    After I import the song, it plays fine. But is there anyway to make it so that the track matches up with the grid without altering the tempo of the track itself? Somehow I think if I knew what the tempo for the track was, I could just adjust the tempo for the project and the song would fall in sync with the grid.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    You can find a BPM Counter in the metering folder in your audio plug ins. Just pop that baby on the track you're trying to analyze, hit play, and it will calculate the BPM. Then set the track to that and you're good to go.
    Check out this video too on Beat Mapping, it's got a lot of cool info:

  • Why do I get an error importing .mov files in Lightroom 4.2 RC

    I have Lightroom 4.2 RC on a Windows 7 desktop and laptop. Mov files from a Nikon D4 import fine on the desktop, but I get an error importing the same files on my laptop and they get skipped. My laptop is actually newer and more powerful than my desktop.

    I was getting this message: "There is a problem with the video file" when attempting to import video files on Lightroom 4.1 (and after upgrading to 4.2) on Win7/64-bit.
    The video files were M-JPEG/AVI and H.264/MP4.
    Seeing a recommendation elsewhere, I uninstalled DivX and rebooted.
    This resolved the issue for me!
    Perhaps it will work for you, too, William.

  • Iam trying to import a short video in final cut express and I'm getting this error... File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown.  How do I solve this problem? The video is on my desktop it's an mpg.

    Iam trying to import a short video in final cut express and I'm getting this error... File Error: 1 file(s) recognized. 0 access denied, 1 unknown. How do I solve this problem?  The video is on my desktop and it's an mpg file. Please help me

    Get a copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert your MPG file to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC).  In FCE, select one of the setups that uses AIC that best matches your clip (say, 1920x1080i60).  Create a new sequence, then import the converted file.
    Note that if your MPG file is actually MPEG2 you will also need the QuickTime MPEG2 Component in addition to MPEG Streamclip.
    What was the source of the MPG file?  How about if you open it in QuickTime, then do Window > Show Movie Inspector.  Tell us what it says for codec/compression, frame size & frame rate.

  • Renderfarm error: Pre-Flight Error: Unable to import previously rendered file

    I have an error message I am receiving during network rendering on a  renderfarm, and was hoping for some help. The error is this: "Pre-Flight  Error: Unable to import previously rendered file."
    Here is my setup and some details:
    The user makes a comp, and adds it to the render queue set to render as a  quicktime movie file. Then they run a script which precomps everything  and sets it to render as a image sequence with "Skip existing files"  checked. This comp also has a post-render action set to import &  replace usage. After this comp is rendered, it gets pulled back into the  project and the original render item starts rendering the movie file  using the previously rendered image sequence as it's only layer.
    This project gets saved to a server where our render nodes are watching  the folder. All the render nodes pick up the project and proceed to  render the image sequence. Then, after they are done, 1 machine will  pick up the second render item and begin rendering the image sequence  into the final quicktime movie.
    All of this goes smoothly about 90% of the time. However, in some cases  an error shows up in the watch folder html page for the 2nd render item  (the one converting the image sequence to the movie). The error says  "Pre-Flight Error: Unable to import previously rendered file." After the  error occurs, no machines will start rendering the project.
    My first guess is that the render engine on one machine somehow skips  rendering the image sequence comp, and then tries to render the  quicktime movie comp and fails because the image sequence has not yet  been rendered. However, I can't figure out why After Effects would skip  rendering the first comp.
    Does anyone have any idea?
    Thanks for the help, and let me know if you have any more questions about the setup,
    Adam

    Well, you should get used to the fact that it's simply gone... Just looking at your screenshot makes me grind my teeth. From delayed writing of files to fragmentation in user folders to Windows doing obscure things this could be anything, but seriously, saving important files on the desktop? That is simply sloppy data management. There is no other way to say it. Read up on what proper file naming, incremental saving and backups are good for and why keeping work files separate and away from your user home directories is actually a quite simple, yet effective concept to avoid exactly that kind of issue.

    it doesnt sound like you are doing anything wrong. can you open the file in quicktime (yes), then you should be able to open it in FCP. I have done the same thing numerous times. In quicktime take the mp4 and export a 'movie to quicktime movie'. settings, uncompressed (10 bit if you can) audio = best (the best settings for both). Make sure your project in final cut matches your qt output and import the footage.
