Alert monitor for messages in error status
Hi, it is possible to configure de Xi Alert Monitor to show in the message body the error that shows the message monitoring?
In the SOAP header when there is an error y can see a tag "error" and it shows this info (for example):
- <SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
<SAP:Category>XIServer</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="MAPPING">STARTUP_EXCEPTION</SAP:Code>
<SAP:P1>com.sap.aii.utilxi.prop.api.PropertiesException</SAP:P1>
<SAP:P2>Unable to read configuration data (ExchangeProfil~</SAP:P2>
<SAP:P3 />
<SAP:P4 />
<SAP:AdditionalText />
<SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
<SAP:Stack>Error occurred while starting the Java application "IntegrationServices"; restart the application</SAP:Stack>
<SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
</SAP:Error>
It is a way to show any of this information in the message body that sends the Alert monitor?
Regards.
Mariano.Hi,
you will not be able to get the entire msg payload of SXMB_MONI in alert.
But you can create a alert category and in its Long text you can have variables for Error Category and Error Text. So you will get alert mails with Error category and Error Text.

Reporting communication channel errors in emails from alert monitoring
Does anybody know how to capture the error message reported on the communication channel and send it in the dynamic text of the email configured for alert monitoring?
I get the mapping error messages but all other message container element values seem to be blank.
None of the container elements (standard) defined seem to have the channel error message. in PI 7.0
ThxHi,
You can get all the alerts that were captured by the adapter monitoring i.e, communicaiton channel errors etc.
we can also trigger similar alerts for Adapter also when any adapter truns in to RED.
in RWB->Alert configuration-> choose adapter engine errors also then you will get alerts for adapter failure also.
If you need create alerts for each communication channel. in RWB->Alert montoring->Adapter type-> instead of giving * select indival commnication channel
for this you need to have alter configured for each Commnication channel in Alrtcatdef and RWB. so for each in RWB you select corerspoding communication channel.
You can monitor the sender and receiver service in CCMS, but I don't think you can monitor the commuication channels.

Alert monitor PP/DS resource alert default priority error
Hi Guys,
I am seeing DP (Default Priority) column showing error lable in PP/DS alert profile against
1. Overload on single activity resource
2. Overload on Multi-activity resource
3. Characteristics mismatch on resource
Where can I set this right...cos this is leading me to non display of overload capacity though the resource is actually overloaded.
Thanks In advance
Regards
Prasanna.HI Prasanna,
Threshold limits for resource overload alerts are specified in the Alert Monitor profile for PPDS and not in the resource master. In resource master you define the bucket capacity for the resource.
In the Alert Monitor profile, you specify 3 threshold values, namely, information, warning and error. Suggest you take the below steps to see if the Alert profile is really working:
1. Identify a test resource
2. Define the block capacity as per your requirement.
3. Create orders on the test resource such that it becomes overloaded.
4. In the Alert Monitor profile, define a new PPDS alert Profile keeping the below points in mind:
a) Select "Resource Utilization in Bucket(PPDS)"
b) Define the threshhold values for the above three types of alerts
c) Fill the selection of resources tab with the test reosurce and test location
d) DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER SELECTION
e) Save the profile
f) Redertmine the alerts
It should display all the Alerts, if any on the above test resource. One point to note here is that, if in DP column, the alert type is ERROR (ie red) then only the values which are above the Threshold value for ERROR shall be populated.
Kindly take note of the planning version in which you are testing the scenario and it should be same in the Alert monitor profile as well.
Please revert if you are still not able to see the alerts.
Regards,
Binod -
Hi,
I have few questions on alert monitor.
1. If we create an alert and have it as default macro, does it display in interactive planning book without a alert profile assignment? or should we assign an alert profile to see alerts in planning book. I remember that we just need alert profile if we need to check the alerts in a separate screen for our convenience.
2. Is alert profile assignment specific to a user? If that's so, then how we assign different profiles to different users? any transaction? or are they specific to a selection or planning book or version?
3. In Application specific alert profile, in SDP tab, under "SDP - Database Macro Alerts", I see few alerts types apart from standard ones. These were actually our previous alert macros. How did they get created like a alert type?
4. I created a simple macro with change color of cell to red if a condition is satisfied. Also raise an alert for that and assigned it to default. When I go back to the SDP94 screen and run the macro, my cells are highlighted as red whenever the condition is satisfied but when I click on the alerts icons, I get a blue information message "No alerts exist for your selection". When I click on the icon, it gives me a window saying " Internal error analyzing SDP alert".
Can somebody help me understand what's going wrong?
Thanks.I think you can select that standard type.
However since it was SAP delivered, we chose not to, and instead created more line items in SPRO with text such as "Alert Message 1" etc. We created numbers ranging from 9001 to 9010. While defining the custom alert, under alert type, it showed up these numbers that were setup in SPRO. I would assume that just like you pick up 9001, you should be able to pick up 4100 or 4101 (alert type numbers) which is the standard status alert. If you run out of the numbers, you would definitely need to add more in SPRO settings. Remember the alert text is picked from SPRO, where you can change and make it more meaningful so that users can do sorting on those alerts. -
Short dump while running Alert Monitor
Hi,
I am getting a short dump while determining alert in Alert Monitor through T. Code /SAPAPO/AMON1. The error says as below:
Runtime Errors BCD_NO_SIGN
Short text : A packed number contains no sign.
What happened? : Error in the ABAP Application Program, The current ABAP program "SAPLKKBL" had to be terminated because it has come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
Information on where terminated : Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLKKBL" - in "FB_OUTTAB_SORT2".Hi Axon Generic,
Please checkon the following
1) In the overall profile of alert monitor, check the relative
time interval whether specified correctly
2) Under the alert profile in Overall profile, check the
threshold values are defined correctly
3) Check the SAP Note 151709 , 189061
Please confirm your findings.

Hello
I have configured the Alert Monitor, Alert is triggered, the message comes on the external mail.
But I have 2 questions related to the Alert Monitor.
1) Explain what the appointment of the following fields in the t-code ALRTCATDEF:
alrtcatdef -> Properties -> Max. No. of Dels
alrtcatdef -> Properties -> Expiry Time in Min.
If I understand correctly, these two parameters make it possible to limit the number sent to external e-mail messages to one Alert category for a specified period of time?
If so, I have this option does not work, it is ignored.
That is, point out in t-code ALRTCATDEF: 3 posts in 5 minutes. 10 generating error messages. I get 10 messages per mailbox.
(Error is generated by running a report, calling class PROXY, which obviously causes an error).
How to limit the number of outgoing messages to external mail Alert for one category for a specified period of time?
2) When an error occurs in the JDBC adapter (eg: "ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into (" PI "." MY_TABLE "." FIELD_1 ")") can not get data from the container (t-code ALRTCATDEF):
SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT (Data Type - CHAR70)
SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES (Data Type - ALPF_STRING_TAB)
However, other containers, normally return their contents.
In t-code: alrtcatdef -> Long and Short Text -> Long Text (E-Mail, Fax) wrote the following:
Error in Adapter Engine: &SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT&.
Full text errors in Adapter Engine: &SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES []&.
How can I put in an error message JDBC adapter?

I know and use, but it has many disadvantages.

The fact that SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES reflects more complete information about the error, I know. But I did not receive any information from SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT, and SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES.
Containers returns NULL, while the RWB in Message Monitoring error is displayed. -
CCMS Alert Monitor (edit monitor-configuration.xml. ?)
Hi Friends
I'm trying to change the default polling time for the CCMS Alert Monitor, 5 minutes instead of 30 minutes.
In http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/e5/5d1741b393f26fe10000000a1550b0/content.htm you can read:
Accuracy
The default polling period for the monitor is 30 minutes. If you want to have shorter polling periods, you can change them in the SAP NetWeaver Administrator as follows:
1. Choose Availability and Performance Management ® Resource Monitoring ® Java System Reports (alias: /nwa/java-sys-reports).
2. Select an arbitrary Number of errors entry in the monitoring tree of the Adapter Engine (leaf node).
3. Choose Configuration in the right-hand pane.
4. Choose Edit in the dialog box that appears.
5. Change the polling period to 5 minutes, for instance.
6. Choose Save and wait until saving is finished (be patient, since this may take a while).
7. Choose Configuration Management ® Infrastructure Management ® Java Configuration Browser.
8. Choose apps ® sap.com ® com.sap.aii.af.app ® Monitoring Configurator ® monitor-configuration.xml.
9. In the xml file, change the polled-by-template period to the same value as above, for example, 5 minutes.
10. Save the modified xml file.
11. Choose Operations Management ® Infrastructure Management ® Start & Stop ® Java EE Services to restart the Monitoring service to apply the changes.
But in step 9, the xml file I've found in my PI 7.1 (SP6) is this:
<monitor-configuration>
<monitor-semantics />
<monitor-tree />
</monitor-configuration>
Also, there is no way to modify that file, you can only display it or download it.
can anyone tell me how to edit the file.
regards
rajaHi Raja,
This is the same as doing the following:
You can locate the monitor-configuration.xml file in the SDA com.sap.aii.af.app.sda (inside META-INF folder). You can find this SDA in the install directory of PI installation. In this XML file please locate and edit the following tag:
<template-info template-name="SAP_XIJ2EE_RCRDS">
<polled-by-template period="30" unit="MINUTE">
<generating-resource
name="com.sap.aii.utilxi.rtcheck.mx.standard.XIJ2EEComponentMBean" type="APPLICATION"/>
<template-attribute-mapping>
<invoked-resource-method name="getMonitoringRecords"/>
</template-attribute-mapping>
</polled-by-template>
</template-info>
Change the above to the following *************
<template-info template-name="SAP_XIJ2EE_RCRDS">
<polled-by-template period="5" unit="MINUTE">
<generating-resource
name="com.sap.aii.utilxi.rtcheck.mx.standard.XIJ2EEComponentMBean" type="APPLICATION"/>
<template-attribute-mapping>
<invoked-resource-method name="getMonitoringRecords"/>
</template-attribute-mapping>
</polled-by-template>
</template-info>
The main change is the polled-by-template value from 30 mins to 5 mins as per your req ******
Construct back the SDA (you can search SDN for that) with this edited XML and then redeploy this SDA with the help of JSPM tool.
This will re-start the PI Server for the changes to come into effect.
I hope this helps.
PS: You can consult your BASIS consultant to locate this sda and re-deploy it on PI Server.

DG Observer triggering SIGSEGV Address not mapped to object errors in alert log
Hi,
I've got a Data Guard configuration using two 11.2.0.3 single instance databases. The configuration has been configured for automatic failover and I have an observer running on a separate box.
This fast-start failover configuration has been in place for about a month and in the last week, numerous SEGSEGV (address not mapped to object) errors are reported in the alert log. This is happening quite frequently (every 4/5 minutes or so).
The corresponding trace files show the process triggering the error coming from the observer.
Has anyone experienced this problem? I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to fix the configuration to eliminate this error.
I must also note that even though this error is occurring a lot, it doesn't seem to be affecting any of the database functionality.
Help?
Thanks in advance.
BethHi.. The following is the alert log message, the traced file generated, and the current values of the data guard configuration. In addition, as part of my research, I attempted to apply patch 12615660 which did not take care of the issue. I also set the inbound_connection_timeout parameter to 0 and that didn't help either. I'm still researching but any pointer in the right direction is very much appreciated.

Hi guys,
is the alert monitor (RZ20) used
to configure email so as to alert
if a PC error occurs, does it
work as a central hub of monitoring?
Thanks,
Due points will be assignedHi Vijay,
RZ20 Tcode is used for CCMS maintanence.
and to configure mails to alert you to know any errors in PC is done through setting up distributionlist in SO23, and create message using context menu from the process type in PC.
Check your mailbox and you a good document on this...
Hope it helps...

Alert monitoring and fault message types
Hello,
this is a topic about two questions:
a) is it correct that alert monitoring is only possible in XI when using an integration process (BPM) and not for simple communication scenarios like IDOC -> file ?
b) how can I use the fault message in the message interface? (OK, I implement it, and then? where can I make it visible in the monitoring?)
10 points for answering in your own words instead of providing a link to SAP standard documentation!
(standard docs in XI look like they never giving a real answer, only something like 70 %! And the rest is trial and error!)
Oh, here is
c) When clicking on the alert inbox / configuration buttos in the RWB it looks like the addresses cannot be reached. How to fix that?
Best regards
DirkHello guys,
these answers send me more happy to weekend!
Ok, not easy now to give points. Nobody answered 100 % but in total you solved my problems and answered my questions!
The OSS Michal gave solved my problem with the RWB access to alert config. (Where does this placing of the 5xx00 come from I had to replace in different places by 80xx ? >-( )
Thanks for the new challenge, Michal! we are working on SP12 and happy about it running now!
Hope to find a developer with your skills to implement alert messaging w/o using BPM!
Thanks for the answer about fault message and the link, Sudhir! Ok, with the rest, Michal was a little bit faster!
Best regards

Hi Friends,
I have installed the Netweaver Full ABAP Preview edition in a WinXP system and trying to setup CCMS locally. Currently I don't see any data under the Alert Monitor(RZ20). I just see the tree elements but no monitors under them. What do I need to do to get data in the tree. Below are some of the steps that I have tried after reading some documentation
1. Created CSMREG user
2. Created CSMCONF file
3. Tried to register the CCMS agent by executing sapccmsr.exe -R. But after I provide the password for CSMREG user the process quits with the below error
ERROR: Registration failed: Can't get version of NSP.C_CALL_FAILED. RFC Error Info for SALS_MS_GET_LOCAL_MS_INFO
Even tried with the command sapccmsr.exe -R pf=<path to the profile file> but it quits at once with the error Cannot open Monioting Segment 99 MoniSegmentSize too small
I believe the Netweaver Preview edition has all the CCMS agent installed.
Can someone please help me with setting up the Alert Monitor.

Hi,
I have a query about the MW Monitoring Cockpit (SMWP). In the Monitoring Tools section there is an entry called 'Status of CRM Middleware Alert Monitor'. Within that there is tree structure with one entry called:
CRM Middleware BDoc-Msg. in the Flow\...\Status of BDoc Messages
Our system has hundreds of error messages in there for BUPA_MAIN and BUPA_REL. But when I double-click them there are no errors in the BDOC status summary. Can anyone tell me what these errors are? They don't seem to be causing any problems but I would still like to get rid of the 'Red' entries in the cockpit.
Thanks.thanks surya.
But that is kind of the question I am asking. When I go to those transactions everything is green and OK, it's just in the cockpit that these BDOC 'errors' are showing.
Here is what the cockpit entries look like:

All Projects View - reverse order
Hi, I love the "All Projects" view in Aperture 2.0 (it kinda reminds me of iPhoto actually), but I don't like the fact that its sorted with old projects first. Every time I click on it I see my old projects from 3 years ago. Is there a way to sort it
