  • Errors in BRTools

    Dear All,
When i am trying opening tablespaces in brtools i am getting following error message
BR0252E Function remove() failed for '/oracle/SMN/sapbackup/.user.pas' at location BrToolCall-1
    BR0253E errno 13: Permission denied
Executables i have given proper permissions like 4775 and 755 but still i am facing above error
    Regards
    Chandra

    Hi Chandra,
BR0252E Function remove() failed for '/oracle/SMN/sapbackup/.user.pas' at location BrToolCall-1
    BR0253E errno 13: Permission denied.
This kind of error always occurs because of 2 reasons.
    1. Permissions or BRTools are incorrect. (Check for stiky bits).
Please carefully go through the below note.
[113747 - Permissions for DBA tools BRTools and SAPDBA|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/113747]
    2. Incorrect permissions on /oracle/<SID>/ directory.
Use the below command to correct it.
    #chmod 755 -R /oracle/<SID>/*
    # chown ora<sid>:dba -R /oracle
    It will solve your problem.
If it doesn't, then you need to update your BRTools and set the correct permission according to note 113747.
    Regards.

    Hi Markas and All,
Thanks for the information. /dev/shm was 100% full. now, the issue is solved after deleting its contents. and we have finished with EHP4 upgrade.
After upgrade, SAP_AP component still showing as 700

Can we delete old tablespace PSAPSR3700, it is showing as 0% used in brspace at present.
Also while trying to move some datafiles using brtools after upgrade we are getting following error,

  • Installed 10.8.4 and now my wifi refuses to connect to any WPA2 network!

Installed 10.8.4 update yesterday in the office. After restart my wifi refused to connect to the network although it was connecting to it fine before the update. Used ethernet and downloaded the Combo update. No improvement. It connects to the public wifi but not to the WPA2. Went home and opened my MBA and found that it does not connect to my peronal WPA2! Removed security from my Guest network and it connects fine. Put the WPA2 back, and it refuses to connect. Any ideas?

seems the problem is that the 10.8.4 didn't install properly. here is the install log:

  • Mavericks fails to upgrade to Yosemite

When install Yosemite on my 2.3 GHz i7 MBP w/16 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD / 15-inch early 2011 MacBook Pro (which started at Lion), my Mac downloads and installs, then reboots back into Mavericks.  I found that /var/log/install.log has some errors in it, but I can't tell which one is the showstopper or how to fix it.  Does anyone recognize the key problem in this log?
There is clearly an exception in the middle of the log (1) I don't know what's causing it and (2) I don't know if its actually interrupting the process.  I considered reinstalling, but it will take a very long time - I have to start with 10.7, which is four upgrades away.    I tried reinstalling Mavericks and I get the same symptoms as when I try to install Yosemite.

I found that Yosemite was, for some reason, unable to install from my Samsung 840 EVO drive.  I used the technique described here to make a USB flash drive installer.  This worked fine.

  • Backup of sap_dir using BR*Tools

    Hi,
We are running ECC 6.0 on Solaris SPARC with Oracle. We would like to perform backup of sap_dir using BRTools. In order to peform backup of sap_dir, one has to start BRTools via root user since some of the directories / files under sap_dir are owned by root. How do we configure BR*Tools to be run as root user?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
SAP Note 64912 explains that in order to perform backup of sap_dir, we need to start BR*Tools via root user, but with the environment variables of ora<sid> user.
It asks us to login initially as ora<sid> user and then switch to root via su root command. And then run BR*Tools. However, when we tried to do the same thing, we got the following error message:
    brtools : not found
Any idea, how to start BR*Tools via root user but with the environment variables of ora<sid> user?
    Thanks

    Hello Kumar9,
if I understoon correctly your last reply, you have doubts if PSAPPRD640 should exist at all, correct?
    Please do the following:
    1) Check any object assigned to this tablespace PSAPPRD640
    2) If any object occupied to PSAPPRD640 then reorganise to new tablespace
If any object not occupied to PSAPPRD640 then check the table entry
a)TAORA for tablespace PSAPPRD640(if exist delete)
b)IAORA for tablespace PSAPPRD640(if exist delete)
    3) If above done then drop the tablespace through BRTools.
    Best regards,
    Tomas Black

    Hello!
I have detected through monitoring in Solution Manager that I have a Tablespaces bottleneck in one of the satellite systems.
The tablespace PSA<SID> as well as SYSTEM are almost 100% full.
How can I resolve this problem
    a) with SAP resources
    b) on the OS layer with sqlplus "/ as sysdba" ...
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Thom

    Hi,
I do not think BRTOOLS is difficult.
it is menu driven, and quite easy.
If a datafile is added, it will follow SAP standards, it automatically creates the needed directories, you only have to fill the required data ( size of the datafile, location, if you want it autoextend ... )
If you add a datafile manually, it will not follow SAP standards and then, you can have errors using BRTOOLS later on.
Another problem I found is people that tries to use BRTOOLS without
    - having a DB knowledge
    - having a clue what they want to do
    - having read the documentation ( available in the internet at http://help.sap.com or SAP on Oracle )

  • Error while executing the table statistics using Brtools

    Dear Team,
We are getting ORA-01031: insufficient privileges error whenever we have tried to execute the update or table statistics using brtools on our SAP development server. I have checked the permissions of sapcheck directory and changed it to 775 still error remains the same. I have observed, it is failing to create the sta or chk files in sapcheck directory after executing update statistics using Brtools.

    Dear All,
    Thanks for your responses.
Permissions are set as below for br* files.
    sap-dev:devadm 23> ls -ltr br*
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 oradev     sapsys     3437688 Oct 31  2008 brarchive
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 oradev     sapsys     3547760 Oct 31  2008 brbackup
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 oradev     sapsys     4632408 Oct 31  2008 brconnect
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 devadm     sapsys     3850224 Oct 31  2008 brrecover
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 devadm     sapsys     1480656 Oct 31  2008 brrestore
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 devadm     sapsys     4837672 Oct 31  2008 brspace
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 oradev     sapsys     2175208 Oct 31  2008 brtools
I guess it is fine because with these set of permissions, it is working absolutely fine in my quality system.
QAS Permissions are as belows for your information
    sap-qas:qa1adm 22> ls -ltr br*
    -rwsrwxr-x   1 oraqa1     sapsys     3437688 Oct 31  2008 brarchive
    -rwsrwxr-x   1 oraqa1     sapsys     3547760 Oct 31  2008 brbackup
    -rwsrwxr-x   1 oraqa1     sapsys     4632408 Oct 31  2008 brconnect
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 qa1adm     sapsys     3850224 Oct 31  2008 brrecover
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 qa1adm     sapsys     1480656 Oct 31  2008 brrestore
    -rwxrwxr-x   1 qa1adm     sapsys     4837672 Oct 31  2008 brspace
    -rwsrwxr-x   1 oraqa1     sapsys     2175208 Oct 31  2008 brtools
So do you feel still it has something to do with permissions?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kedar
