Error in bulk bind
Hi All,
i am new for bulk binding when i am trying to insert data in table getting error PL/SQL: ORA-00904: : invalid identifier
i need to insert data in to one column below are the desc for the same .
OR REPLACE function OMDV4_IDENTITY_OWNER.testing2(enterno in number ) return number
TYPE t_tab IS TABLE OF emp.empno%TYPE;
:= t_tab();
NUMBER;
EXCEPTION;
PRAGMA EXCEPTION_INIT(ex_dml_errors, -01400);
-- Fill the collection.
FOR i IN 1 .. 5 LOOP
.extend;
(l_tab.last):= i;
END LOOP;
delete from emp;
commit;
-- Perform a bulk operation.
BEGIN
FORALL i IN l_tab.first .. l_tab.last
INSERT INTO EMP
VALUES l_tab(i); ------ here i am getting error
EXCEPTION
WHEN ex_dml_errors THEN
:= SQL%BULK_EXCEPTIONS.count;
('Number of failures: ' || l_error_count);
FOR i IN 1 .. l_error_count LOOP
('Error: ' || i ||
' Array Index: ' || SQL%BULK_EXCEPTIONS(i).error_index ||
' Message: ' || SQLERRM(-SQL%BULK_EXCEPTIONS(i).ERROR_CODE));
END LOOP;
END;
return 1;
END;
Thanks
I hope that you are just practicing BULK COLLECT. Because what you are doing using bulk collect is completely unnecessary. This can be simply done in SQL.
What is your DB version. Referring record type directly in value clause is available from 11g onwards I guess. In previous version you get the following error.
PL/SQL: ORA-03001: unimplemented feature
So to fix your problem your FORALL code should be like this
forall i in l_tab.first .. l_tab.last
insert into emp_t (empno) values (l_tab(i));
That's because l_tab contains the value of EMPNO alone. so you need to specify the column name in your insert statement. Also you need to use Brackets before and after l_tab(i).

/Hi there,
Following is the description of the error, you are getting.
ORA-06502:VALUE_ERROR
An arithmetic, conversion, truncation, or size-constraint error occurs. For example, when your program selects a column value into a character variable, if the value is longer than the declared length of the variable, PL/SQL aborts the assignment and raises VALUE_ERROR. In procedural statements, VALUE_ERROR is raised if the conversion of a character string into a number fails. (In SQL statements, INVALID_NUMBER is raised.)

This is driving me nuts!
I am getting this error from OWB during a mapping process.
I have checked the input data and it looks fine.
The run time audit browser just lists all of the steps but does not make it clear which one failed. Is it the last one which is shown (does not have HIDE as selection link.)
I also tried to determine which row was causing the problem and followed the instructions at http://www.nicholasgoodman.com/bt/blog/2005/07/, but no row_id was recorded in the views. In actual fact there wasn't very much audit info other than that the mapping ran and was complete (even though it failed).
In the error message section it has, in order
Map Step - blank
Rowkey - 35204435256
Severity - X
Error Message - ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: Bulk Bind: Truncated Bind
Object Name - N/A
Object Column - *
From the PL/SQL error I thought it may be trying to insert into a data field that was too small, but all of the columns that are used are full of data of length shorter than all of the target tables.
I have even started running the cursors in the generated PLSQL but I don't get the error by doing this.
Thanks in advance for any tips at all.Thanks for the response.
I managed to work it out and it had to do with the selection criteria of one of the filters.
For anyone else facing this error, check to see if any of the rows being inserted has the same key/identifier as some existing in the target table. If so add an extra condition to the where clause.
This worked for me. -
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: Bulk Bind: Truncated Bink
I have a map which worked fine in 10.2.0.1. The same map in 11.2.0.2 is giving me the error:
'ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: Bulk Bind: Truncated Bink.'
I have one source and one target. This is a straight load, no transformations.
While debugging the map I have noticed the culprit is one column in the source which is varchar2(30),
I have the target column with the same varchar2(30), and I tried increasing the size of
the target column but i keep getting the same error. While searching the forum someone suggested
to change the configuration of code generation options and runtime parameters to set based.
But strangely it gave me an error because the set based option is not availabe in the new 11.2.0.2.
Should the set based option be available in this version. Please suggest on how i could resolve the
error of 'ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: Bulk Bind: Truncated Bink.' Thank you.Hi there,

Dynamic SQL and Bulk Bind... Interesting Problem !!!
Hi Forum !!
I've got a very interesting problem involving Dynamic SQL and Bulk Bind. I really Hope you guys have some suggestions for me...
Table A contains a column named TX_FORMULA. There are many strings holding expressions like '.3 * 2 + 1.5' or '(3.4 + 2) / .3', all well formed numeric formulas. I want to calculate each formula, finding the number obtained as a result of each calculation.
I wrote something like this:
DECLARE
TYPE T_FormulasNum IS TABLE OF A.TX_FORMULA%TYPE
INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
TYPE T_MontoIndicador IS TABLE OF A.MT_NUMBER%TYPE
INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
V_FormulasNum T_FormulasNum;
V_MontoIndicador T_MontoIndicador;
BEGIN
SELECT DISTINCT CD_INDICADOR,
TX_FORMULA_NUMERICA
BULK COLLECT INTO V_CodIndicador, V_FormulasNum
FROM A;
FORALL i IN V_FormulasNum.FIRST..V_FormulasNum.LAST
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE
'BEGIN
:1 := TO_NUMBER(:2);
END;'
USING V_FormulasNum(i) RETURNING INTO V_MontoIndicador;
END;
But I'm getting the following messages:
ORA-06550: line 22, column 43:
PLS-00597: expression 'V_MONTOINDICADOR' in the INTO list is of wrong type
ORA-06550: line 18, column 5:
PL/SQL: Statement ignored
ORA-06550: line 18, column 5:
PLS-00435: DML statement without BULK In-BIND cannot be used inside FORALL
Any Idea to solve this problem ?
Thanks in Advance !!Hallo,
many many errors...
1. You can use FORALL only in DML operators, in your case you must use simple FOR LOOP.
2. You can use bind variables only in DML- Statements. In other statements you have to use literals (hard parsing).
3. RETURNING INTO - Clause in appropriate , use instead of OUT variable.
4. Remark: FOR I IN FIRST..LAST is not fully correct: if you haven't results, you get EXCEPTION NO_DATA_FOUND. Use Instead of 1..tab.count
This code works.
DECLARE

The below example is based on an example from Chapter 5 in Release 2 (9.2) documentation (Available in Oracle site).
But it is failing and throwing the following error:
"PLS-00435 DML statement without BULK In-BIND cannot be used inside FORALL".
Can you pl suggest a workaround for this?

END;Is block abc based on Table1? If it is, then you should NOT be issuing ANY update sql statements on the table. This just causes problems.
Assuming abc is based on Table1, then the block should contain a text item for all three fields: Field1, col1, and col2. Then all you need is:
Go_block('abc');
first_record;
Loop
exit when :system.record_status='NEW';
if :abc.field1 = 'Y' then
:abc.col1 := value1;
end if;
exit when :system.last_record='TRUE';
end loop;
first_record;
commit_form;
Forms will take care of creating and executing the sql update statement, and it will do it using rowid, which is better than "where col2 = :abc.col2;" Also, you will no longer have locking problems.
...However... if abc is based on a table other than Table1, then something like your code is what you need to use. The fastest method of execution would be the bulk binding route, but do it from a package procedure on the database that you call from the form. -

Thanks for the information.
But still it doesnot seem to work.
Actally, i have Group ID and Group Name as display field in the Hiearchy table.
Group ID i have directly mapped to Group ID.
I have created a Split Hierarchy of Group Name and mapped it.
I have also made all the options configurations as per your suggestions, but it doenot work still.
Can you please help.
Thanks,

LOOP inside FORALL in bulk binding
Can I use a loop inside forall in bulk bind updates?
as I understand, forall statement strictly loops through the length of the bulk limit size for the immediately following statement only.
I am attempting to use a loop there to update more than one table.
cursor c is select id from temp where dt_date > sysdate-30;
BEGIN
loop
fetch c into v_id;
limit 1000;
forall i in 1..v_id.count
UPDATE table_one set new_id = v_id(i);
exit when C%NOTFOUND;
end loop;
end;
I want to update another table table_two also immediately after updating table_one like this:
forall i in 1..v_id.count
UPDATE table_one set new_id = v_id(i);
BEGIN select nvl(code,'N/A') into v_code from T_CODES where ID_NO = v_id(i); EXCEPTION WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND v_code='N/A'; END;
UPDATE table_two set new_code =v_code;
exit when C% not found.
This is not working and when I run it, I get an error saying encountered BEGIN when one of the following is expected.
I got around this by having another FOR loop just to set up the values in another array variable and using that value in another second forall loop to update table_two.
Is there any way to do this multiple table udpates in bulkbinding under one forall loop that would enable to do some derivation/calculation if needed among variables [not array variables, regular datatype variables].
Can we have like
forall j in 1.. v_id.count
LOOP
update table 1;
derive values for updating table 2;
update table 2;
END LOOP;
Thank You.Well, without questioning reasions why do you want this, you are confusing bulk select and forall. You need:
begin
loop
fetch c bulk collect into v_id limit 1000;
exit when v_id.count = 0;
forall i in 1..v_id.count
UPDATE table_one set new_id = v_id(i);
end loop;
end;

How to view errors if bulk collect has thrown errors
Hi,
I have few questions.
1.How to view error whether bulk collect is successful or not
2.What is identified & unidentified relationships in ERWIN
3.How to see the errors whether the sql loder is successful or not
and how to open the log file.Is there any specific command in UNIX
which tells loader is successful or thrown error
4.When executing the pl/sql procedure from UNIX.how to check for errors.
Please provide the answers for this
ThanksUse SAVE EXCEPTIONS clause in your FORALL loop.
Is this for homework/test? -
Accessing the index in bulk binds
Hi
I wonder if it is possible to access the index itself in a bulk bind. For instance:
SQL> desc draft_responces;
Name Type Nullable Default Comments
S_NUMBER VARCHAR2(10)
CLUSTER_ID NUMBER
STATEMENT_ID NUMBER
RESPONCE NUMBER Y
RESP_NUM NUMBER Y
and I wished to insert the responce number i into the resp_num:
forall i in indices of p_statement_ids
insert into draft_responces
s_number
,cluster_id
,statement_id
,responce
,resp_num)
values (
p_snumber
,p_cluster_id
,p_statement_ids(i)
,p_responces(i)
, i );
which fails ... is it possible to access the index i in a bulk bind explicitly?
thanksYou're in the wrong forum (this one is for issues with the SQL Developer tool). You'll get more answers in the SQL And PL/SQL forum.

Error 500: Model binding context not initialized
I have created a JHeadStart Bc4J application in JDeveoper 10g and moved it WebSphere 6.
I have moved all the required binary libraries to the lib/ext directory of the WebSphere AppServer.
JSP and HTML pages are being displayed correctly but whenever it counters a .do class ( Struts framework) it displays the error :
Error 500: Model binding context not initialized
Please help me with this.

Thanks
VenkatThank you all for answering.
Just found the cause of the problem:
The page I am forwarding to has a DataForwardAction underneath.
The problem is: When I forward from my binding filter's doFilter() method, I never call super.doFilter() (how could I ?!) which puts the binding context into the DataActionContext.
No super.doFilter() -> no binding context in action context -> exception.
Why didn't this happen in 9.0.5.2?
In 9.0.5.2, in DataAction.execute(), the call to initialize the action context was wrapped in a try-catch block. The exception did occur in 9.0.5.2, but no one noticed (because the catch block caught it and sent it down the drain somehow).
This try-catch block no longer exists in DataAction, version 10.1.2.1.
One solution was to use a standard Struts ForwardAction for this page.

Error in Event Binding for Table UI element
Hi,
I had created a table UI element in my web dynpro component and it worked fine. After a few weeks, while I was making some other changes in the same module and did a syntax check on the component, I got this error "The event binding for element "TBL_ABC" contains errors". There is a "Correct errors" button given along with this error message, which removes the error. But I just wanted to know what is the reason for this error.
Regards,
Akshatha.Hi,
Please check for the cardinality of the node which you are using to bind for the TABLE UI element.
I think the cardinality should be either 1:N or 0:N.
Give it a try.

Error [2] in bind() call!
hello
my weblogic was working perfectly yesterday. then some genius installed some windows updates on my machine and now i get this message whenever i try to run my weblogic server:
Error [2] in bind() call!
err:: No such file or directory
Socket transport failed to init.
Transport dt_socket failed to initialize, rc = -1.
FATAL ERROR in native method: No transports initialized
i have spent all morning trying to fix it. tried various methods found via google such as copying dt_socket.dll into system32 folder etc.. makes no difference at all.
any ideas what may be causing this? or the best place to look?
?:| help! thanks in advance.yes.
stop IIS if you have it installed and any other applications which you may think could be using the port required. i also had to quit skype and a couple of other messenger applications.
hope that works! -
Binding definition error with programmed binding classes
Hi all,
640/NW04s/ECC5 SP14 system, I'm trying to use a programmed container->container binding class.
I've created my class implementing interface IF_SWF_IFS_BIND_TRANSFORM_CONT, but when I try to put it into the binding editor, it complains with:
SWF_BND_001/100: Error when executing binding operaton 'CNT'
I've tried all sorts, even gone as far as implementing the presentation interface and giving it a little icon in the binding editor (nice touch!).
Looks nice, but still no joy so back to basics: I figured to make sure there's no problem with my code I created two completely empty classes, one for Expression->Expression binding and one for Container->Container binding. The binding editor is happy with the expression binding class, but still gives the same message about the container binding class.
No luck with any notes on OSS, any input welcome...
Cheers
Mike
(Cross-posted to SAP-WUG and SDN-BPM)Hi
I have had the same problem but if you tick the checkbox handle error as warning
it works. Now I will try to code and see the results...
