Error in burning Multiple-Disc Album

Hi
today i tried to burn an Album with 54 songs. The built-in burning program told me that it has to span the album on multiple disks - wich i confirmed. The burning process began and th program automatically unmarked the titles that wouldn't fit on the first disc. After finishing the first and inserting the second disc the program unchecked only the first titel and added only the first titel of the second disk ???
i tried it three times - same result and then selected the titles manualy - wich worked!
Seems like a bug to me!?
Anyone?

The iTunes capability to burn a long playlist across multiple audio CDs has always been buggy and unreliable. To save yourself frustration, split the long playlist into individual playlists, each of which fits comfortably into 80 minutes. Then burn.

  • Sorting multiple disc albums

When it's come to multiple disc albums, I arrange it on iTunes so that it's all one album, and have the disc numbers apparent, but on my iPod there is no where where it tells me where one disc ends and the other begins. What's the best/most compatible way to organize multidisc albums for iTunes and an iPod?

I have submitted a bug to http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html. Please feel free to use the template below if you wish to make your opinion heard:
    Dear Sir or Madam,
Updating to iTunes 9 has introduced a bug whereby the software doesn't recognize and separate multi CD albums.
Before the update, two disks would be correctly split 1-9, 1-9 but iTunes 9 instead lists the albums: Track 1, Track 1, Track 2, Track 2, Track 3, Track 3 and so on. This is present in all albums with more than one CD.
Furthermore the white background in grid view is hideous and should be reverted as soon as possible or a setting implemented so that the user can make a choice about the background colour.
    Yours faithfully,

  • Burn multiple iphoto albums to one dvd

    Hi,
I would like to burn multiple iphoto albums onto one dvd.
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Brandon

What's the destination of this disk? Another Mac with iPhoto? Then use the Share -> Burn command
Anything else: Select the Albums in the iPhoto Window and export them to Folders on the desktop. Then burn those folders with the Finder.
One exception: Going to view the files on a DVD player? You'll need to create the disk in iDVD.

  • Burning Multiple Discs

Anyone have experience burning multiple discs out of Waveburner....on the 2 drives of a Mac Pro for example, or any other configuration?

Just to clarify, I mean multiple discs at the same time.

  • CD boundary when burning 2-disc album

    Hello!
I wonder if it's possible to make iTunes respect the disc numbers stored in track metadata, when burning a 2-disc album. It's annoying that iTunes seems to fit as many songs as possible on the first disc. The problem probably also accumulates further in the case of 3 or more discs. I would like each iTunes-made disc to have as many tracks as the original recording.
One solution is to make a separate play list containing only the songs on a particular disc of the multi-disc album, and then burn the playlist. However, I would like to make this automatic.

Strange, that option is working fine here. Has it worked before on the same computer? Have you installed new drivers, or do you need to? The troubleshooting steps here might help. iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install

  • Re: problem burning multiple discs from iDVD

I am having a problem burning multiple DVDs. My first DVD burns fine but my second one won't complete the process. It stays in the "BURN PROCESS Current Operation: Writing Lead-Out..." phase for hours without ever completing the burn. I am using good quality Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R blank discs. Can anyone offer any advice/solutions? Thanks!

Double Click on the hard disk up righthand side of Your desktop. Often named
    Macintosh HD.
At the bottom of this new window it reads nn Objects and xx.xx Gb free space.

Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
    Many possible origins. Most common:
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disc if it is less than 10Gb should raher have 25Gb
    • Hard disc is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disc (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - or rather start a new account - log into this and re-try
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.3, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.3 - is OK

  • Getting medium write error on burning a disc image using Disk utility

Have a MacBrook Pro 15 inch, circa Summer 2007, using OX 10.4.11. up until recently (as in before February) have been able to burn DVD's using Toast (message Medium Writer Error). Started getting problems where the burn failed. Thought maybe it was Toast, so I tried creating an iDVD project and tried to burn the DVD using that, and it stopped in the middle as well and then spit the disk out with no error message.
, this time I tried creating a disc image, and used disk utility to burn. The process looked like it was going to work but then failed with a message that I have a medium write error.
I have no problems burning a regular data disk on my superdrive so I am thinking it's maybe a software glitch rather than hardware. . Any thoughts, as to what could be causing this problem all of a sudden. By the way, there are other users out there, who seems to be having DVD burning problems all of a sudden, but most people suggest other media. I am using the same stack of DVD-R's from before when I had no problem.

Well, I had assumed my media was ok, since I had a spindle of DVD-R's and had used many of them successfully (until now!, ha ha).
I went out this afternoon and bought another brand (Memorex) and it successfully recorded.
So hopefully this solves my problem, I had no idea it was the media since I had used several of them before.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Error during backup to DVD: Unknown Error when burning to disc (261)

I'm writing on behalf of my brother who has an HP Pavilion ZE2120CA laptop and is using the latest version of iTunes. We were backing up his purchased music onto DVD but just after it says "Burning Disc Initialized" the disc ejects from the drive and it says this cryptic error message. We also tried connecting an external Plextor drive via USB2 - same thing. Any suggestions, white papers or documents out there that'll help us? Also feel free to talk technical to us because I am A+ Certified and while my brother is an English major he also has an intimate knowledge of computers and has several programming courses under his belt.
    Thanks,

Look at some of the other topics. Many of them deal with backup problems since the release of version 7.3. Quite a few of them deal with your situation.

  • Error While Burning to Disc

I've tried to burn two separate DVD files to disc using iDVD 5.0.1. Both times a dialogue box came up saying "Burning Finished. Errors were found during the burning process" The recording device reported the illegal request: Cannot write medium – incompatible format. (0x30, 0x05.)"
Any ideas on what this means and how I can fix it?

I've used Memorex a couple times and it was okay, but others have reported problems. Never have used Staples, but even the best brands regularly go on sale around here at good prices. If it's something important, I'd recommend buying a top brand on sale (very little price penalty).
Here's my flock of ideas to try before Thanksgiving -- if I was to guess, I'd say your hard drive went to sleep and caused the error -- but here's my burn process:
Do something small first; get some experience before you need to do a big project.
Lots of memory helps; and you'll need 10-15 gigs of free space on your main hard drive for scratch space while iDVD is working.
Buy good quality disks - I've seen recommendations for Maxell, Sony, Verbatim, TDK and a few others based on testing. I primarily use the first two and usually don't have trouble.
    Give yourself lots of time.
Turn off your screen savers and energy savers; don't let your hard drive go to sleep.
Get your computer healthy and ready for some heavy lifting. (video work could be the hardest job your computer can do) MacJanitor followed by Apple's DiskUtility's Repair Permissions is my routine.
Most of the time iDVD is working, it is encoding (compressing) your video to fit on the DVD. Reduce the errors in this process by creating an image file (by using the Save as Disc Image command), and use Toast or Disk Utility to burn it to disk. Burn slow (1 or 2x).
I keep my projects under 60 minutes (for highest resolution).
Try testers; you can use DVD-RW.
I import into iDVD rather than export from iMovie (fewer errors).
    No other apps open.
Let it encode and burn while you go to bed; it can take awhile, esp. on older Macs.
If you use iDVD for burning the DVD (and don't make a disk image), don't quit iDVD even when the DVD is burned, until you've played the DVD in a regular player (it's much easier to burn another disk and check to see if the problem was a bad disk, than to go back through all that encoding again by quitting iDVD).

  • Is there a way to burn multiple smart albums to DVD?

I just finished shooting a wedding.  I have made a number of smart albums for Reception, Dance, Ceremony, etc...
Now I would like to burn all of these albums onto one DVD to send to the client.  But I would like each album to be in its own folder on the DVD.  I could go the long way and export each album into a folder on the desktop and then put them all in a burn folder.
Is there a more automated way of doing this, such as a plugin maybe?  After a little searching I found BurnToDisc from Blue Room software but it looks like you can only select one album at a time to burn to DVD.  I would like to be able to select all 8 or 9 albums and have them burned in one operation.
    Thank you for any help
    Bo

    As I wrote:
There's only one problem, I'm not sure if this will work for smart albums in folders.
so unfortunately I was right. Smart Albums behave differently then regular Albums one of the biggest differences is the way Folders and Smart Albums interact.
With a regular album if it is in a folder clicking on the folder shows the images in the album. With smart albums this doesn't happen, the folder doesn't show the images in the smart albums it contains.
A few work arounds off the top of my head:
convert the smart albums into regular albums. With the smart album selected and in browser mode click on the magnifying glass icon at the top right to open the browser filter HUD. At the bottom of the filter HUD is a button New Album with Current Images click it and a regular album with the images from the smart album will be created. Once you've done this to the smart albums the procedure I wrote should work.
You could manually create the folders in the Finder and export each smart album individually to the corresponding folder you created.
Let us know if either of those work for you,
    regards

I tunes: I am using version 12 of I tunes. Ever since downloading it I get the message when trying to burn a playlist it says, The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to.
I uninstalled V-12 and then reinstalled it. This enabled me to burn a disc again but after a couple of tries I received the same error message again. Has Apple put out a fix to this problem that anyone is aware of?

    Hi rossfrombluffton,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resource below provides some general things to consider when burning a disc with iTunes.  I would also try burning a music CD and a data disc from a different application in the Windows OS and trying a different brand CD just to confirm the issue is not with the optical drive.
Can't burn a CD in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-ae/HT203173
Find out what to do if you can't burn an audio CD using iTunes for Windows. Sometimes an audio disc may not burn as expected. Here are some things to check.
    Update iTunes
Download and install the latest version of iTunes for Windows.Check for unauthorized songs
iTunes will stop burning a disc if you purchased one or more of the songs in a playlist from the iTunes Store and the songs aren't authorized to play on your computer. This message should appear: "Some of the files can not be burned to an audio CD. Do you still want to burn the remainder of this playlist? For more information on why some files can not be burned, click below."
To find out which songs aren't authorized, play each song in the playlist. Songs that play are authorized. Songs that don't play aren't authorized. You'll be asked to authorize any unauthorized songs.Make sure your playlist will fit on a single CD
If there are too many songs in a playlist to fit on a single CD, iTunes should ask if you want to burn multiple discs or cancel the burn. This message should appear: "The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD. Do you want to create multiple Audio CDs with this playlist split across them? This will require more than one blank CD to complete."
If you click the Audio CDs button, the burn will continue and you'll be asked to insert blank CDs until the playlist is completely burned. If you click cancel, the burn will be canceled.
To make the playlist shorter so that it will fit on a single CD, select a song to remove from the playlist and choose Edit > Clear. Repeat this step until the duration of the playlist is between 60 and 80 minutes. The duration appears at the top of the playlist window. Most CD-R discs can hold 60 to 80 minutes of music.
Check how many times you've burned the playlist
An unchanged playlist that contains songs purchased from the iTunes Store can be burned no more than seven times.Additional steps and submitting feedback

  • Multiple disc issues with iTunes 9

right after I installed iTunes 9 all of my multiple disc albums are not organized. For instance: it used to order them disc 1: track 1,2,3,4 and now it is track 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,etc. This is buggy!

I am also annoyed by this sorting problem.
However, when playing multi-disc albums, iTunes plays the tracks in the correct order, so first the tracks of disc 1, then the second disc.
So, it seems to me, it's just presentation.

  • Attempt to burn a disc failed - unknown error 4260

I see there are lots of topics about not being able to burn CDs in iTunes but I can't find one with the exact same error message as mine - 4260. I've not had any problems before (I haven't tried to burn a CD for some months), but today I tried to burn a CD with purchased tracks from iTunes Store, and it seemed to have burned okay. Then when I played it in the car, the first 3 tracks were fine and then the rest were jumpy and had an awful background noise. Came home and found it wouldn't play properly in the computer (froze iTunes at track 4) or on my CD player. Tried again to burn to another disc, iTunes went through the motions, no problem, then said it was finalising the disc, then suddenly said it was cancelling the burn, and "Attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error [4260] occurred". Again the first three tracks play okay, but the rest do not. The first 11 tracks are from an album I only downloaded yesterday, they play from the library and are authorised to play on my computer, so that's not the problem.
I can't find a reference to this particular error on iTunes support base online or in this forum. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful but I realise that it's a big problem for a lot of people. I don't understand why it worked alright before but now doesn't. I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes recently (v.6.0.4.2), so perhaps that's the problem?

In case anyone reads this, I managed to burn my CD by changing the speed of the burn in iTunes. It was set on Maximum possible and I noticed from the CD Diagnostic report (see previous article) that the speed of the drive was listed as 16, but the burn had failed at 24x, so I reduced it to 12 to be safe, and it worked. It plays okay in the car but I have noticed that when I restart the player, it doesn't seem to recognise the CD and ejects it so that I have to push it back in, and it then starts at track 1 again. Not sure if this is to do with the way it was burned, but at least its playing the tracks!
