Error in certifying a PDF document
When I try to certify a PDF document containing an editable PDF XFA form using the Digital Signature web service. I get the following error:
ALC-DSS-300-017 Certification of Static Shell XFA Form PDFs is not supported. A Shell PDF is a special type of static or dynamic XFA Form PDF, which contains XFA streams that are not in synchronization with the rendering available in the PDF version. See Signatures Service Documentation for more details. (in the operation : certify);
Could anyone let me know how to resolve this issue?
Thanks for the answer steve..
We are using Designer 9.0. Using designer we created the XDP file. The PDF was generated using the forms service of Adoble LiveCycle ES 2.5. So I was facing issue in certifying PDF generated by forms service and not when PDF was created using the designer.
As a test we changed the default form properties of the XDP file from static to dynamic. Again PDF was created using the XDP file via forms service. When this PDF was certified, the error was no more occurring. So we were able to solve the issue by changing form properties of XDP file from static to dynamic

Error while exporting to PDF document in OBIEE 11g
Hi
In OBIEE 11g we are facing an issue regarding exporting a few reports to pdf. It is resulting in following error: "Error generating PDF document".
The reports are placed on a dashboard which has a prompt too. However, when we remove the prompts, the export is working fine.
We will really appreciate any help in this regard.
Thanks.Hi,
Looks like this is a sort of known bug with PDF creator in 11g. Try implementing the below solution:
To configure the Javahost service, edit the Javahost service configuration parameters in the
instanceconfig.xml file. The parameters are
identified by their relative path starting from the /WebConfig/ServerInstance node
For example:
<JavaHost>
<PDF>
<InputStreamLimitInKB>50000</InputStreamLimitInKB>
</PDF>
</JavaHost>
After changes restart Siebel Analytics Java Host and Siebel Analytics Web services
If it doesn't work try to create same report in xml publisher as presentations services in obiee has limited capacities in printing out reports.
Refer to this thread for related useful information: Error in creating a PDF
Hope it helps.

Error - "not a valid pdf document. it cannot be opened"
I am getting this error message when opening PSE. It says "This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document. It cannot be opened." Needing help asap! Thanks!
Quit PSE. Then go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements < version number > Paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements < version number > Settings
In 10.7 and higher that library is hidden. To see it, option click the Go menu in the Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account. Also in 10.7 and up, while you're in there go to the saved application states folder and delete any for PSE.
Repair permissions and try again. -
Printer Error Messages When Printing PDF Documents
I keep getting the following error messages when I try to pring a PDF document. This application has failed to start because LXBBGF.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this. The other error message is: Cannot load library LXBBPRP.DLL using default error 126. I spent over and hour with a Lexmark Tech. who unsistalled my Lexmark X75 printer and he did a register edit to make sure my register was cleared of all the old Lexmark entries. He then reistalled the printer and the drivers, but the error message still pops up when trying to print a PDF Document. He checked out the printer and it will print and scan all other types of documents with no error messages. He also had me unistall Acrobat Reader 11.0 and reinstall it. I also did a sytem restore but none of the remedies I have tried so far has fixed the error messages issues. I would like to get this problem resolved as soon as possible because I need to print my travel documents asap. This forum is great but can someone please let me know how to get in touch with Adobe Technical Support. I need their toll free phone number and email address?
Hi Pat,
When I first encountered the PDF printing problem I went to the Adobe Web Site and downloaded the most current version of Adobe Reader which was the 11.0.6 version and the Lexmark Technician uninstalled the old driver and installed the updated version of the printer's driver. But this did not resolve the PDF printing problem. Both before and after the PDF printing problem surfaced I was able to print all other document formats except PDF documents.
It seems very strange to me that once I uninstalled the Adobe Reader 11.0.6 and reinstalled my old version of Adobe Reader 9.3.3 that all of sudden I was able to print all of my other PDF documents. But that's what happened and Adobe still insists that it was a printer issue. I did a little research and this is not the first time Adobe has had compatibility/configuration issues with Lexmark printers and they have not resolved these issues.
I know I am taking a chance by using an unsupported unsecure version of Adobe Reader, but at this time I don't have any other option. Unless Adobe develops a patch/workaround solution. Which I hoping they will do, but I don't think this is going to happen soon because this issue is not a high priority as it only effects a small portion of their customer base.
Thanks For Your Input/Comments

Error Occurs When Opening PDF Documents Over Home Netrwork
Installation: XP/SP3; Adobe CS2 Premium (Acrobat Professional 7.1.0); Wireless Home Network with Cisco Router; shared My Documents folder stored on the Desktop PC.
Problem: PDF documents created locally with Adobe Acrobat and stored in the My Documents folder on the Desktop PC can not be opened by my laptop PC when they are accessed over the home network. The error message received from Adobe Acrobat is “There was an error opening this document. Access denied.” There is no error number. Click OK is the only option. However, the same PDF documents can be successfully accessed and opened using the Desktop PC.
PDF documents stored in the shared My Documents folder on the PC that have NOT been created locally using Adobe Acrobat can be successfully opened over the home network and by the Desktop PC. All other non-PDF files can be successfully access and opened over the home network.
Is there some setting within the Adobe installation that is blocking access to locally created PDF files over my home network?John - in viewing Properties the key difference is under the PDF Tab. The
PDF documents that can't be accessed over my home network do not have any
entry for the application that created the document, and the PDF Producer
section is also blank. I also discovered a PDF document created on my
laptop and stored on my Desktop can be successfully accessed by the laptop
over my home network as well as the Desktop PC, and the PDF Tab has the
correct information. It would appear there is incorrect option or corrupted
application with the Adobe software on my Desktop.
Can you provide some additional guidance on how best to provide you all the
creation options in Acrobat?
Thank you. -

Hi,
I have a project to scan all the official documents in my enterprise.
But in order to do so, i need to certify all the pdf documents (from paper files I scan) to certify no changes have been made from its creation.
How can I do that ?
Is it possible to do so with an autosigned certificate ?
Is it possible to do the certify process by command line on a server ?
I will have around 65 000 docs to scan, so I need to do it automaticly.
Thanks.Cannot be done in Reader.

Error in converting a pdf document to a Word document
I have Adobe Acrobat 6 running under Win XP.
My Panasonic Lumix camera manual is a pdf file that I wish to place on my Kindle 4. I copied the pdf file across but, although Kindle is supposed to be able to handle pdf files, it wouldn't with this one - it simply froze when I opened it in the Kindle. I therefore decided to convert the pdf file to a Word document file and email it to Amazon for a free conversion to a Kindle azw file. I attempted to use Save As in Acrobat to save the pdf file as a doc file but, after a few pages, I got the error message:
Bad pdf; could not read page structure. <Bad pdf; error in processing fonts: cannot find CMap resource file> [26-27].For what it's worth I pulled in some of the product line's user guide PDFs. Those I looked over were authored with FrameMaker or InDesign.
As these both support solid PDF output and from a quick look-see I'd not attribute the core issue to a poorly created PDF.
With that said; two things are evident. They are not Tagged and, with the heavy graphics content, of a healthy file size.
Tagged PDF is more than a little important as this is what provides the essential ingredient for export of PDF content (retaining font info, format, layout, etc.).
A healthy file size associated with the significant graphics content means that what is "under the hood" of the computer in use is significant as export puts a load on these resources.
Example: A local machine having integrated graphics is hard pressed compared to a local machine having a dedicated graphics card with a comfortable amount of onboard RAM.
Due to "design" improvements over the years Acrobat X does a much better job of "export"/"save as" for untagged PDF.
But, "export"/"save as" of a well-formed Tagged PDF trumps.

Why do I get a BER decoding error when certifying a pdf file?
I am trying to sign a PDF file with adobe acrobat pro 10.0.0. For signing I want to choose my email certificate which I use for signing and encrypting my mails. But as soon as I choose this certificate to sign a PDF, I get the following error message. I did not try other certificates, as these are mostly administrator certificates, the BlueX certificate for the smart card and the lancrypt certificate. The certificate chain seems to be ok. All the certificates are stored in the Windows certificate store.
The text of the error message is something like this (as I have the German version of the program and therefor don’t know the exact words):
Creation of this signature could not be completed.
Certificate parsing error:
Encountered while BER decoding:
This error message comes up several times and then in the end the window with the digital IDs pops up. Each time I have a look at the certificate details, I get the same error message.
Help would be appreciated.
lizz4321Hi lizz4321,
A digital ID is made up of three components; a private key, a corresponding public key, and some identifying information. The keys themselves are pretty straight forward, they are just big blobs of numbers used to encrypt and decrypt data. It's the identifying information that gets a bit tricky. On first look, the identifying information looks like plain text. You'll see your name and the issuer's name, a serial number, some dates for when the validity starts and ends. All pretty straight forward.
However, all of this information is actually formatted using something called ASN.1 (it stands for Abstract Syntax Notation) and then encoded using BER (Basic Encoding Rules). When someone creates a digital ID they can put just about anything in there. Per specifications (RFC 5280 if you wanted to look it up) some items are required, and others are optional. Each piece of information that goes into the public-key certificate (the PKC is basically the digital ID without the private key) is contained in an extension. These extensions are identified using an OID (Object ID) and conform to a specification which may either be public or confidential.
There are two possibilities in the case you are seeing. Either, some of the information that Acrobat knows about was formatted or encoded incorrectly, or, there is an optional entry that Acrobat doesn't understand how to decode. My guess is it's the latter possibility. There is a rule that states if an extension is marked as critical, and the application using the public-key certificate (in this case the application would be Acrobat), doesn't understand the extension, then the application is supposed to reject the certificate. It could be the former case (badly formatted data), but without seeing the certificate all I can do is guess.

Cannot sign and certify a PDF any more
I can't sign and certify a PDF document, and I used to be able to. It prompts me for a password and I put it there and it doesn't work.
I will try that, thank you.

Printing PDF document with invisible signature
I've got a PDF-document - created with i-text - certified with an invisible signature.
Printing this document out of Adobe Reader 8/9 with several pages per sheet results in scrambling the second page. The preview inside the print-dialogue doesn't show any failure.
Leaving the fist page the output performs fine.
Has anyone made experience with similar problems printing certified/signed PDF-documents??Hello,
