  • I get an error while changing modules pop up when opening Lr. There is no import button to use and if I try to load the default catalog I get the error message again essentially making Lr completely unusable for me! please help

When launching Lr i get the initial screen to come up followed by an "error while changing modules" pop up. I have uninstalled and re-downloaded, followed all the suggested trouble shooting fixes and still nothing. When the app starts it has the basic info boxes but without any options in them (i.e. no import button or any buttons at all for that matter). All my other creative cloud apps seem to be working fine but Lr won't. Please help

Ah, see, you said you had done it differently before.
    > and I tried to add a toolbox button by navigating to AcroPDF.dll.
You'll need to reinstall Reader if the libraries aren't registered. You can't register them manually.
Perhaps if you posted some of your code (where it creates the objects, etc.) we might be able to give you some more advice. You're sure you aren't trying to use anything outside of the AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF class?

  • Error while changing modules

On a Mac, did digital download from B&H. Has never worked because error while changing modules. Did EVERY step in forums. Nothing. Still under manufacturers warranty, need to talk to actual customer rep but only gives me option to post question on forum. So far this is more than annoying to have to deal with.

    Hi Atul Saini.
It is unbelievable how miserable the ADOBE support is.
Iam sorry - but Iam awaiting answers, as we are paying
since nearly a month and Lightroom does not work at all.
Can you help or what is happening?
    Thanks.
    Really angry.

  • Error When Changing Modules

Hey, all. I just got Lightroom 5.3 for my Macbook Pro and have been attempting to use it for the past several days, but regardless of what I try nothing works -- I have spent several hours on the Adobe troubleshooting website going through every procedure several times and no luck. I've run disk recovery and tried everything including changing my Lightroom preferences to "read & write". Nada. Help! Seriously.

Try removing the Prefence file with Lr closed and reopening. It can be found here: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-41.html

  • Lightroom Error while changing modules

    Hello!
I have a problem with Lighroom. I have tried everything I have found of solutions here on adobe.com, but nothing works. I have reinstalled it about 5 times, and tried to reinstall Creative Cloud aswell.
The only thing that works is if I log on a new user and open lightroom there. But it does not work to copy the lightroom folder from the support folder over to my main user.
(I am using a Macbook Pro btw)
Does anyone know what else I can do to fix this?

If you are trying to uninstall LR and reinstall it, then you should uninstall LR the same as any other program you want to uninstall.
On Windows you’d open Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features to remove a program.  Not sure about on a Mac, perhaps dragging from the Applications folder to the Trash.
Once uninstalled, how you go about reinstalling it depends on whether it was licensed using a serial number or if it is a companion app to PS-CC and licensed by logging into CC.
If your LR5 is licensed with a serial number, then you can download and install the latest version of LR5 from the Adobe Updates page:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
If your LR5 is licensed by logging into the CC Desktop app, then after uninstalling LR5 you should Quit the CC Desktop app, then restart CC Desktop, at which point it will scan your local computer for what is installed, and see LR is not there, and offer it as a new install from the CC Apps list tab.

  • 'Error when changing modules' message in Trial LR CC. Cant import photos.

I downloaded Lightroom CC trial 4 days ago. I have LR 1 and run an iMac 2.7gh. LR does not recognise a camera card when inserted in the iMac, nor does it appear to have any Import command available in the File Menu. Had the trial 4days so far and haven't imported a single image :-(

Luckily they are still on my old computer if I have to do it that way.<<<</div>
That's probably the best thing to do but, before you do, you really should trash what remains of your old library. Tampering with the iPhoto library is appropriate only for those that enjoy bleeding ulcers! Force yourself to do everything from INSIDE iPhoto and leave the file/folder management to iPhoto.
By the way, feel free to experiment from inside iPhoto. Contrary to your experience, it's pretty much unbreakable from that perspective. You'll be pleasantly surprised when you learn what can be done.
You'll notice that iPhoto has its own trash can. It's separate from the OS trash can but it functions similarly. DON'T empty the trash until you're certain that you don't ever want to see the photo again.
"Regular" albums contain only aliases (short-cuts) so deleting from there does not delete the photo from the library. HOWEVER, I've been told that deleting from "Smart" Albums DOES delete from the library. I don't use Smart Albums (I'm not smart enough) so I can't confirm that from personal experiences.

  • My new lr3 comes up with  the usual error changing modules....

Hello. I've just purchased a lot of adobe software, cs5 Production Premium and Lightroom 3. Now adobe has loaded on fine and is working, but lightroom, asks for my serial number which i enter and then continues to try open, only to come up with the frequently common issue of errors with changing modules.
Now i have only just brought a new Imac this week as well, so i have no idea how to get around it yet and from other discussions on the forum i am so confused and have no idea how to find all the files for the software.
I've deleted and reinstalled now around 9 times, even tried installing it on my external hard drive which had the same thing happen. It works fine from my guest account, but i don't want to access it all the time in there as i have nik software which i need to use through it and every time i go to use nik i have to enter my product codes, which don't seem to save as it is a guest account.
Please help, i have about 3 shoots of images i need to go through, i swapped over from my pc with cs2 on it for this software only to have these issues. I am useless as to how to even move about on the mac yet so i really need step by step instructions i am that bad!!
    thanks
    bigsarg.7

It is some kind of permissions issue, and weirdly it often seems to be linked to Nik software.  I wonder if Nik's putting a file there with different permissions - did you install Nik first, by any chance?
Anyway, to fix, you can just copy the files over from the other account.  Copy the folder from the guest account after you've entered your serial number in LR3 in the guest account.  You might need to transfer them to another shared location temporarily.
From memory, primary folder to transfer is Macintosh HD / Users / [username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / Lightroom /
Give that a shot and see if it does the trick.

  • Lightroom error, changing modules, on new iMac

    Help.
I cannot get LR5 to open on my new iMac. Using OSX 10.9.1, LR 5.3. I consistently get the 'error on changing modules' message, and no catalog will open. I cannot create a new catalog, or open an old one. I've deleted and re-installed LR, CC, all pref and support files, several times using the uninstallers, drag and trash, all no help.
Running same app, same OS, on MacBook Pro with NO problems. I had transferred images, catalogs from an old MacPro with OSX 10.7.5, but I don't see where that should cause a problem. I can put the same catalog on the MBP and LR runs fine.
    Any help sincerely appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, but I've already been all over that page.
Solution 1:  I have version 5.3. Is there a newer one?
Solution 2:  Preference files trashed multiple times with no improvement.
    Total uninstall, re-install, same problem.
Solution 3:  No better. New catalog created from within LR, same problem.
Open LR with option key, choose catalog, test for integrity, same problem.
Solution 4: Uninstalled Nik, even though it states for LR3. No better, same
problem. Note: re-installed Nik, it did not recognize LR, recognized
Photoshop without problem. BTW, Photoshop is working great.
Solution 5: Permissions are set correctly on all folders. Will re-check ONE
more time, just to be sure.
Solution 6: New user account. Have not done this yet. Hard to see why this
would be a problem, as I just obtained the computer four days ago, and I am
the only user. But in the interests of completeness, I will give it a try.
Could this be some new iMac issue? Graphics card?
    Using iMac 27", 3.5 GHz i7; 16GB RAM, 3TB Fusion drive; Nvidia GTX 780M.
This is very frustrating. I need to get back to work and something is wrong
    here.

  • Error Message when changing modules??? Help

Having issues - new MBP computer - so reloading all my cloud apps - LR5.5 will NOT work and I've tried everything - I keep getting the Error when changing modules message.  I am beyond fried at this point.

    Hi hillclimbing,
Can you please let me know the exact error message you see as that would be helpful.
Does this occur with all the pdf files.
What OS and Acrobat version are you using?

  • Another "An error occurred when attempting to change modules" error

    Hello all:
After using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom on Mac OSX trouble free for the past 6 months, I opened up Lightroom today and received the following error: "An error occurred when attempting to change modules." I had not made any changes in between when it worked normally and when the error started to occur. I beleive the last thing I did before this error occurred was to go into the Print Module.
Other information--I keep all my RAW .NEF files on an external Firewire (800) 750 GB drive. This is on Mac OS X 10.5 running Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.3 and also with 1.4.1. I'm running an iMac 20" with dual-core 2.2 Ghz Intel processors and 4 GB of RAM. I have around 25k images total.
When I noticed this problem, I was on Lightroom 1.3. I immediately upgraded to 1.4.1, which did not solve the problem. I have also tried many suggestions in the forums including uninstalling the application and removing the .plist file.
I thought I had come up with a solution by creating a new catalog, then importing the former into it. While this seems to work immediately after the import process, as soon as I close it, the problem manifests itself again.
More details that may or (likely) may not help:
    - Going to the Develop and Print Modules gives me no problems. However, when I click on Library, Slideshow, or Web, I see the error.
    - I upgraded my Mac to the latest patch level after observing this error to no avail.
So it looks like my choices are to create a new file and reimport every single time, or lose all of the work I've done for the past 6 months on thousands of images.
Can anyone please help???? I promise to post the solution when we fix this darn thing so others may benefit. I'd be happy to run through any troubleshooting that y'all would suggest outside of switching to a Canon.
    Thanks!!!!
    Matt

I'd first check for the existence of a file ending in .lock, which should be present when LR is in use, but if it exists when LR is quit, it can cause problems, and should be deleted.
    Please post back your results.

  • I have Lightroom 5 installed on my MacBook Air but when I try to open the program I receive the message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules".  I uninstalled, emptied trash and re-installed but I continue to get the same message.

I have Lightroom 5 installed on my iMac which I downloaded (uploaded?) to my MacBook Air (via wi-fi) but unlike the iMac, I'm unable to use the program on the MacBook Air.  When I open the program on the iMac and click 'file', (as people using the program would know) there are 21 options - import pics, export, etc, etc - however, in the version on the MacBook Air, opening 'file' gives me four options - New Catalogue, Open Catalogue, Page Setup and Printer - and with that comes the pop-up message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules".  Any ideas please?

A forum thread from 3 years ago talking about LR 1.x which had this problem seems to need permissions fixed or new folders created with the corrected permissions.  You might try doing a repair permissions for your user and/or run LR as an administrator user.  I am a PC person so cannot tell you exactly how to do that.
