Error in characteristic properties in Web Analyzer
hi
we are in BI 7.0, I have this problem ; i run my query published on portal with WAD template; in BEx Web analyzer, every thing is fine. All the navigations and context menu are working very well except for characteristic properties, during Runtime;
In the context menu for any characteristics, if we go for "Properties",
and do any selection, then it goes for the following runtime error;
500 Internal Server Error;
Failed to process request; Contact your system administrator'
Root cause
java.Null exception
can any body let me know what could be the issue, and how to fix this?
thanks and regards,
SA
Hi Ahmed,
This is a known issue and should be solved by applying the patches for the BI components BI-BASE-S and BIWEBAPP mentioned in note 1130839. For future requests please copy the whole stack trace (everything coming after the NullPointerException) into your post to get a quicker answer.

Error while generating PDF ( BEx Web Analyzer )
Hi,
Is there any limit to the number of pages we can print using ADS? We always get
" Error while generating PDF" Error when we try to print reports with more than 500 lines.
Thanks

Characteristic attribute does not show correctly on BEx Web Analyzer
Hello everyone!
I'm working on a report in BEx Web Analyzer wich has the characteristic 0EMPLOYEE. When I call the context menu for this characteristic and select properties, I get a list of it's attributes. I select one of them for display.
The problem is, the value shown is not the correct one. It's an "old" value.
I change the employee's attribute in R/3 via PA30;
I succesfully update the change in BW (0EMPLOYEE master data);
The value shown is the previous one.
Is there any buffer between the BW system and a BEx Web Analyzer query wich I need to force-clear in order to see the correct data?
Best Regards,
Luís Andrade.Thanks for your response!
It was a buffer issue. I solved it by simply refreshing the query with different selection conditions to force the system to read data from the BW system.

-VHi Deepu,
All the parameters in the SAP_BW system is correct and i have tested the ITS, WebAS and Connector tests also and everything is green. In the BI diagnostic tool everything was green however in the RSPOR_SETUP the Maintain User Assignment was getting failed, so i removed the UME Master System (Reference system) from the Portal as i'm using the SAP Logon Tickets both ways. So there is no need for the reference system. After that RSPOR_SETUP is okay and in the BI Diagnostic tool one is red (UME Master system).
One thing i have noticed in the RSPOR_SETUP now that it tells me in the second step:-
com.sap.ip.bi Java classes with different versions.
Different ABAP and Java Support packages
ABAP support package 12
Java Support package 11

Error when running web analyzer
HI friends,
Iam getting the following error when opening BEx Web Analyzer,I have tried some of the threads i found and didnt get any result.Please help me in solving the problem.
Error while loading the Web template "0ANALYSIS_PATTERN" (return value "4")
Note:0Analysis_Pattern is in Active mode in our system.
Thanks in Advance

Edited by: ravi kanth on May 15, 2009 11:07 AMHi Ravi,
from Note 917950:
Test Standard Web Template in BI (both directions)
This test will check the ABAP to Java and Java to ABAP communication. Additionally, this check will ensure that the new Java-based BEx Web runtime is working.
1. Run Report RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN_70
2. Enter Template ID 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN
3. Choose Program / Execute
4. Choose Analyse / Validate
5. Choose Analyse / Execute in Debug Mode
A Web Browser is opened and you have to logon to the Portal. Finally, an empty Analysis Pattern (without data) should appear.
Error messages during executing Web Template
If only a blank screen or message "Access Denied" appears, see note 872043.
If message "Error while loading the Web template "0ANALYSIS_PATTERN" (return value "5")" appears, activate Content (see topic Additional Information below).
--> I think you have to activate the Content....
Activate Web Template of BI Content
Please perform the following steps to activate a Web Template of BI Content:
1. Logon to BI System
2. Start transaction Data Warehouse Workbench (transaction code RSA1)
3. Choose register Business Content (left pane)
4. Select Object Types
5. Expand BEx Web Template in tree (middle pane)
6. Double click on Select Objects
7. Choose 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN (or any other Web Template of the BI Content)
8. Object will be transferred to right pane
9. Press button Install / Install to activate the Web Template
Now, you can execute the activated Web Template.

SAP BI - Hierarchy Characteristic Node key not displaying Web Analyzer
I am using 0COMP_CODE as a characteristic node in my 0COSTCENTER hierarchy. Using BEx analyzer works fine, but in Web Analyzer the 0COMP_CODE key shows as a "#" in a query display regardless what I set the characteristic or hierarchy node to display.
Thanks in advance.
TomHi,
If S0001 is a subtree node of A0003, then change the 'type of authorization' to 1 (subtree below node) for A0003 in your analysis authorization. Currently in your case, I guess its 0- selected node only (default type).
Thanks

Working in BEx Analyzer but giving error dump in Web Analyzer
Hello Experts,
I have a BEx Query, that has couple of customer exits for initial filter selection, and some base KFs and conditions as part of definition. When I run this query in RSRT or in Bex it was running fine, and results showing up in 3 to 5 seconds hardly 10 seconds.
but the same query throwing error in Portal / Web Analyzer.
error contains;
Error Summary : error processing the current request
root cause: The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:
java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException
Messages: warning there is a condition on Plant and Material to suppress results.
contest: under this heading many line of HTML code
when I debug the query in RSRT, I found any issue, all the exits, and the query is quite OK.
does anyone has any idea, whats going wrong?
we cannot suspect the portal / Java patches or anything, Because we have other queries running good.
could someone give me some idea..how to go through this portal/web related errors.?
Appreciate your time and helpThanks for your help.
This issue was caused by "Bad programming in Customer Exit". Exit is trying to give too many Single values as selection to certain batch characteristics plus some are redundant. So code logic modified to fetch distinct values hence problem solved.
it worked in BEx analyzer but not in Web is just because of its limitations. As I said there is no syntax errors in the exit rather bad logic.
Thanks Again -
Navigation panel on BEx Web Analyzer
Dear community!
Is there a way to make the navigation of a report in BEx Web Analyzer in one step as you can do in BEx Analyzer with the navigation panel?
Thanks for the help!!Imagine that you want to navigate throw a query.
In Bex Analyzer you can move 3 characteristics to a row and 2 characteristis to the columns that were not in the initial navigational state of the query with just one shot with the navigational state in the query properties.
In BEx Web Analyzer you have to move the elements one by one and wait for the system every time you drilldown an element.
BEx Analyzer Exce is much faster, because you can do the drilldown with one shot and you don't have to wait the system to finish.
Can you perform someting similar in the BEx Web Analyzer? -

How to increase the number of rows to be displayed in BEx Web Analyzer
hi,
I am viewing reports using BEx Web analyzer option. It is displaying only 24 rows of data at a time. How to increase the number of rows? do i need to any kind of settings?
pls reply.Hi,
I think the standard template in 2004s is named 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN. You can find it in Web Application Designer, open, and search for the technical name. If you want to change the number of rows or columns, you can find this setting near the bottom of the XHTML view of the template:
<bi:BLOCK_COLUMNS_SIZE value="4" />
<bi:BLOCK_ROWS_SIZE value="17" />
Then just save, and ignore the error messages.
