Error in Check for updates
When I do a check for updates it find an update available but when I try and get it I get an error.
An error occurred downloading updates
Server redirected too many tiimes (20)
Any ideas?
Is there an OS-internal firawall (WinXP)?
check your connection options for:
connection settings, security settings, etc.
Open the doors as wide as possible in order to check it out.
It must have to do with your machine, because for me it works fine in the company and at home too.
... and I have to be honestly - my latin ends here.

Error while checking for update
Lately, when I sync my iPad to iTunes on my mac, when I click on "Check for Updates" I get the following error message...
"iTunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iPad. An unknown error occurred (1631).
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again"...
The network is fine, both on the mac and the iPad... And the phrase "...could not check for an update to the carrier settings" doesn't even seem to make sense???? It used to work but this just started recently and now the error pops up every time I try... My iPad is WiFi + 3G but I've never activated the 3G coverage...
Any thoughts??? thanks... bob..I hadn't seen that error either until just recently... I found this post,
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12635600
where folks with the same problem have appeared to have found an answer...
All I did was toggled my Cellular Data switch from OFF (where it always was before) to ON for a few seconds... That is not to say I signed up for AT&T service... I just toggled the Cellular Data switch but I was still running in WiFi mode as always...
And it worked... Message gone... Other folks on that same post talk about inserting non-active SIM cards into their iPads to clear the error??? Don't know about that but the Cellular Data from default OFF, to ON and then back to OFF has, for the moment anyway, cleared the message for me...

App Store error while checking for updates
I noticed recently that there hasn't been any updates for OS X Mavericks so I decided to manually check for one. When I did so, I got this error while attempting to check for an update:
There's not much else to explain. The only other thing that has been getting really weird on my computer recently is my keychain. It keeps forgeting the wifi password for my house saying "Keychain 'System' could not be found to store B7F3D". It also keeps forgeting my icloud email password. Other than that, there is nothing else wrong.
Thanks for any help!
-MpconnelIt seems it fixed on its own. Everything is working properly now.

An error has occurred the operation couldn't be completed nsurlerrordomain error 1012
This began happening after the May 15 OS X Update via the Mac App Store. Other/similar discussions talk about having an antivirus installed (Avast or Kaspersky or other) and their solution was to disable their anti-virus. I do not have an antivirus installed, nor do I recall anything else been installed since the last OS update via the Mac App Store. It's a server issue. You'll have to wait for Apple to fix it.

Error 80072EE6 when checking for updates
Hi, I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 box that shows an error when Checking for updates.
When I go to Windows update and push "Check for updates" I get a message saying:
Error(s) found: Code 80072EE6
I checked that download.windowsuodate.com is reachable
Any ideas?I tried installing MSXML 4.0 SP1 on the machine. But it didn't solve the issue.
Below you can find the log from today after I checked for update? I did a check for updates at 13:39. Below that I added a few other log lines before that as well.

Problem while checking for updates in Intex Cloud FX
I followed the steps to check for updates: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-check-firefox-os-updates-and-install-them?esab=a&as=aaq
But every time I do that I get an error saying "There was an error when checking for updates."
I am connected to WiFi, and I tried the solution provided here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/967817, but it did not work.
Also, the OS Version says Intex_Cloud_FX_V07Yes, the Intex website does say that the phone has v1.3 installed. (http://www.intexmobile.in/product_detail.aspx?PID=191&PCatID=3#)
But in the settings it says that the software version installed is '''Intex_cloud_FX_V07''', and the update channel is '''release-spreadtrum'''. Does it mean the Intex uses its customized version of the OS? If so, how do I switch to the ''un-customized'' version. -
Intune Command to initiate 'Check for update' for intune client.
Hi ,
I am working with Microsoft Intune and power shell. My target is to automate the process of "check for update"
available at Intune client's Microsoft intune center.
I have found the way to push the command to client using intune but the issue is with the command it’s not working.
%programfiles%\Microsoft\OnlineManagement\Updates\Bin\omupdclt.exe /detectnow
%programfiles%\Microsoft\OnlineManagement\Updates\Bin\omupdclt.exe /updatenow
The reference links are as follows :
https://albertneef.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/windows-intune-commands/#comment-423
http://www.systemcentercentral.com/windows-intune-client-behind-the-scenes-sysctr/
These commands are not getting executed at the client machine. I tried it's execution in administrator mode. Command
is getting executed without any error but check for update is not getting initiated.
Can u please provide me with the way to execute this manually at the client machine? Thanks for the commands now at least its initiating the Agent.

So I bought a Powerbook G4 from a pawn shop and yes, I did check to see if it was still good. everything works fine but I need an update because I have OS X 10.3. So I connect to the internet and then I click on ''Software Update'' and I wait. But then a message opens saying ''An error occurred while checking for updates'' And I don't know why. HELP!!!
Something temporarily wrong with your internet connection?
Be aware that this is a very large file to download, it needs a strong consistent internet connection.
Have the iPhone on the charger cable too.
In the meantime read the threads in this forum about the visibility item and some other possible issues on the 4 and 4S (although a large number of people have these issues, it is still a minor percentage, but anyhow, be aware). -
"software update" "An error occurred while checking for updates"
When I click on "Software Update", an error results, "An error occurred while checking for updates". It is definitely connected to the internet. I was gifted a G5 and I installed a new hard drive and loaded the OS, OS X 10.3.5. That version of Safari does not display pages correctly. E.g., support.apple.com/downloads just clocks on the righthand side of the page.
Because cannot access that link, cannot manually update the OS - I was thinking this version is "old" and as a result, unable to connect to apple's update server. Thanks. Thanks, I upgraded with your info.
Ultimately, I am trying to access mail.google.com but receiving the following error with opera v9.5.x: Some important features may not work in this version of your browser, so you have been redirected to the Basic HTML version.
Safari gives the following: Some important features may not work in this version of your browser, so you have been redirected to the Basic HTML version.
I can access ask.com and using opera to type this response. -
I have a new Intex Cloud Fx phone. In this, I go to 'Device in formation' and try to update the device by pressing update now, I get an error message that says 'an error occurred while checking for updates'. Also, it does not respond to the' last updated' command. When I press 'more device information' I can see’ OS version Intex_Cloud_FX_V07’. I have tried all kinds of procedures suggested on the net and elsewhere but have not succeeded in updating my phone, so far. This includes resetting the phone. I am using a Wi-fi connection. It seems that quite a few persons are facing this problem. There have been suggestions ranging from 'there is a bug' to 'there are no updates'. So, the problem persists, with no end in sight. I feel Mozilla should look at it.
Hi!
Thanks for contacting us today! I understand you are having issues with updating, and using the device.
I believe that we are aware of the update issue however, it is ultimately the carrier/ manufacturer to provide updates. Please contact the respective company for assistance.
As for device using, and things not working. Please provide us with more details. (Note: the bug may have already been fixed, but is available in a later update).
Thanks! -

I found a fix for this.
Go to Wifi Settings and then select your Wifi Network. Tap the blue arrow to go into Wifi settings and then select the DNS tab.
Set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and then go back to the software update page.
This time it shall work.
I tried it on an iPad 1 running iOS 5.0.1 but I am sure this shall help.
Do rate me and reply if it works. -
hi..i just bought an iphone 5 yesterday 32GB..and now when i am trying to update the software..it says the following: unable to check for update/an error occurred while cheking for a software update...please help me..is it a problem in my new iphone??or it's just an temporary error in the apple software center???

This device does not have a sim card in it. Could this be the reason or am I missing something when I am trying to update.
Yes. You can't update or restore any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. If you want to update, you need to get a sim card. -
When I try to update my software, I'm receiving the error message "Failed to check for updates. The operation couldn't be completed. Operation not permitted."
I'm using Safari 4.0.3. Yes, I know this is an old version of Safari - I can't update it, or any other software on my MacBook. Should I just wait for the Lion OS, or is there any kind of fix a non-technical Mac user like me can attempt without screwing up her laptop?
I've tried clearing my cache and resetting Safari already - doesn't help. I've also tried to update after disabling my (Norton) antivirus software, thinking that might be interfering. None of these help.
I don't know if it's a related problem, but also I can't download .pdf files from the internet, although I used to be able to.You should use the NortonAV uninstaller to uninstall it. Disabling the dreadful thing in the past hasn't always been sufficient for it to cease creating system havoc. The Mac NortonAV version has a long and well-earned reputation for doing truly seriously nasty things to OS X. Shame on Comcast for inflicting NortonAV on its Mac customers. It's not a matter of if NortonAV will mess up OS X but when and how badly. I can't help but wondering if some setting in your Norton AV has decided that NortonAV, rather than you, will be making executive decisions about what you are allowed to install on your computer and is keeping that fact a secret.
After you are done uninstalling Norton use the finder to search for any Norton files that the uninstaller might have missed. Add the option to search for invisible files.
After you have removed all the Norton bits and pieces restart in safe mode by holding down the shift key right after the startup chime. Keep holding down the shift key until you see the Apple logo and spinning gear. Safe mode does some maintenance tasks which means a much longer than normal startup time. Use Disk Utility to repair permission
If your Mac works normally in safe mode restart. If things still aren't fixed you might want to give another shot at reinstalling Snow Leopard from the install DVD and applying the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo before taking your Mac to the Apple Store.
If you feel the need to run AV software on your Mac use ClamXav in manual mode. It's donationware and doesn't seem to cause the litany of weird problems that are associated with other AV software. -
I did the update to 3.6.11 - After it started Firefox it would go to the requested site in the addressbar, but the page would be blank. I went to check for updates and it told me there was a problem in updating. It gave me this error message: Update XML file malformed (200)
I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same problem exists.
Any advice? For the error message see [[AUS Update XML File Malformed 200]].
As it appears not to be able to load any sites, a possible cause is your firewall blocking the new version of Firefox. For more details see [[Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can]].
