Error in CS5

Receiving a "The media is write protected" error. Any idea how to fix this problem? Seems like I can do certain edits but so far I know I can't use my liquify tool.

You will have to provide proper system info as well as your preferences for PS' swap file. This indicates a file permissions issue.

  • Run time error in CS5

I have a run time error in CS5. Not the trial version !
I desinstalled and reinstalled Photoshop and the error ist still here.
The application did work fine for a couple of days and suddenly the error appeared.
Other applications like Lightroom work fine.
I am running on Windows 7 64 bits. The 32 bit CS5 application has the same run-time error.
    What should I do ?
    Thanks for help.

Look in Windows 7 event viewer for the runtime hit. The error will be listed there in more detail.
Also you can run the troubleshooting software built in windows 7.
You can also run the windows 7 system file checker in a elevated command prompt. Type in sfc /scannow and let it run. 99.9 percent of the time the command will find the error and fix it.

  • Setup with MS Visual C++ Runtime Library Error, Win7/CS5

    Hio All,
It's driving me crazy here trying to get my Photoshop and my Adobe Production Suite CS5 working.  I had an Alienware computer with Windows 7 64-bit and it installed perfectly.  Now my new computer is a Xeon E5-2660, with 32GB of RAM, an ASUS Z9-PE-D8 WS motherboard with a Radeon HD 5870 1GB VRAM video card (same video card on my Alienware). I did a fresh Win7 64bit Professional install, all goes well.  I'm also installing other programs and they all go well.  It's when I install CS5 (but really Photoshop is my biggest concern since I need it for freelance work) and sometimes RIGHT at the end of the third disc installation at 99% (installing the Language Pack for ENG) it crashes.  Sometimes it doesn't, and goes through perfectly.  Either case, when I open any Adobe CS5 suite program (except for Bridge), it would crash immediately with a dialogue box saying
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" -- Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Pro...(truncated)
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information.
And that's it, the program logo doesn't even launch, just this box.  After hours and hours of trying different settings, I found out was if I disabled the service "Windows Management Instrumentation" in msconfig, the dialogue box would go away and anay CS5 product would launch without a hitch.  But, it leaves other programs that use that service unable to launch as well, and Windows Defender is the biggest one that uses that service.
I've searched the internet and hundreds of other threads relating to Visual C++ error here on this forum, but none give a definitive answer to why my computer may keep crashing.  I've reformatted and reinstalled CS5 over and over again...still these crashes...Please help in anyway!!

Thanks much for checking it out and helping!

The registration shouldn't have anything to do with saving a PDF but I tried that and it didn't work... Thanks for the reply though! This is what's frustrating me so much is that there is seemingly no difference with the software from day to day but, Adobe has simply - "derrrp" - forgotten how to write to PDF and in it's own confusion tells Windows that it needs to shut down. It's also frustrating having to resort to these forums for answers because they're not in real time like a phone call or chat. If I could just talk to someone from Adobe about it, since it is their product, I could have tried that option hours (or days, really) ago and have already gone through a number of other options by now instead of being back at square one..... again.
I mean, for christ sake, I even tried a system restore in case I had mistakenly downloaded a font, brush, etc. that corrupted some files - didn't help anything.

  • Configuration Error 15: CS5 Photoshop for Mac OSX

I have been running Photoshop on my computer for quite a while. This morning, when I tried to open the program, I received a Configuration Error: 15 and was told to uninstall and reinstall the program. I did this (twice), and still receive the same error.
I searched all throughout the forums, and the only answer I could find was in regards to error 16 (seems like a similar problem), and followed this link: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/configuration-error-cs5.html
Unfortunately, my computer does not appear to have the SLS Store or Adobe PCD folders in the Library/Application Support/Adobe folder, so I cannot try this solution to see if it works for me.
I have successfully opened InDesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver today. Only Photoshop is not working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

None of my FULL PRICE CS6 Creative suite works, or Adobe Acrobat xi PRO.
    all error 16
followed instructions on link. Does absolutly nothing. Wated 4k over 2 years on Adobe. I removed and un-installed all products, per Adobe instructions, re-installed. same problem. re-installed Maverics. same problem.
Contacted Apple was told it was a liceincing issue with adobe server and to contact Adobe for patch. Adobe charges for tech support when you buy their products.  Nothing like buying a new car, then having to rent the Keys!
Adobe feel free to adress your cutomer base at anytime as we are all having problems.
If anyone finds answer or can understand the person on the tech support please post answer.

  • How can I fix errors installing CS5.5 in Windows 8?

I have had to wait to install CS5.5 64-Bit on a portable until I had a 64-bit system, but unfortunately CS installer has issues with Windows8 on my new laptop and I got a boat load of non-fatal errors asking for a new install that I don't think will make a difference. I have not been able to find a fix yet, but does anyone know how to deal with the compatability problems I suspect are the culprate?
Here are the installer errors for CS 5.5:
    Thanks in advance,

  • "empty file" error with CS5, linux server and mavericks

    hello to the community,
i'm the owner of a small online marketing agency.
we have been using different macs here since 10.6. until mavericks with adobe CS 5 and a linux server for years.
today i got a new MBP retina with mavericks and since now i have the following problem:
    - when i try to open a photoshop file on the server i get a "file is empty" error, when i open an illustrator file on the server illustrator crashes und when i open a pdf on the server with acrobat pro there comes a message that the file is corrupt. with acrobat reader i can open it.
    - i can open the exact files with all apps when they are on a local storage not an the server
    - i can open all files on the server with another mac with os x 10.6.
so there must be a problem with the combination cs5-files, server and os 10.9. it's weird because with my old MBP i with also using mavericks and there was no problem.
can anyone help me? it's really a problem!

i found a workaround that seems to work!
instead of connecting to the server with "smb" i connect with "cifs". so i force mavericks to connect using the old smb 1 instead of the buggy smb 2.

  • How do I save a file after getting an error in CS5?

I was working on Adobe Photoshop CS5 on my 64bit Windows 7 when I got the following message:
Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if the solution is available.
How do a save the file before the program needs to close?
Can I just close the Windows pop-up displaying the error, or will that also close the program?
I have not saved the file in a while and I don't want to lose all the work I have done.
    Please help!

By the time you see that error message, it is already too late.  Photoshop has already crashed.
That's why the Auto Save feature in CS6 is so attractive,

  • Errors installing CS5 in Windows XP

I'm trying to install CS5 on a Window XP computer.   When I start the EXE it says it needs Applications Manager to install it.  When I try to install the Application Manager it gives me an error and says use Support Advisor to resovled the issues.   SA only says it is a bootstrapper issue and restart in progress, click to learn more.  I click to learn more and followed all steps, still no resolution.  I also searched and have tried the following links for resolution with no luck.   PLEASE HELP!

  • Error in CS5 when rendering from a CS4 project.

    Hey guys,
So I recently upgraded to a 64 bit machine with CS5 on it after using After Effects CS4 on my old 32 bit computer. When I open these projects and try to render them on my new machine, I get an error message that I haven't ever seen before.
    It says:
"After Effects: This project was unable to import the settings of some output modules. Those modules have been reset to their defaults."
When I select "OK", the dialog box just keeps reappearing.
    Any ideas?

You have incompatible output modules on your render queue because a lot of stuff has been changed for CS5. This affects pretty much all MPEG ones, WMV, Quicktime... Simply delete them and reassign the comps to the RQ with the new settings.

  • Packaging error in CS5.5

    Hi there,
I'm trying to package an ID document that I upgraded from CS4 to CS5
and later to 5.5 on another machine. When packaging I get an error saying:
Cannot copy necessary linked file(s). The free diskspace is not an issue:
I have at least 480 Gb free space. Then I tried to make an idml and turn
that into a .indd doc and package that but I get the same error.
I'm sure it's something in the file as I have packaged larger documents
over the same network but those were native CS5.5 docs. Is there a way
to check/edit the document under the hood or something?
    TIA.

You can troubleshoot fonts followng the guidlines here: Troubleshoot fonts | Mac OS X and Troubleshoot font problems | Windows
It's still sounding like the problem might be in a filename on one of the links.

  • Error Installing CS5 updates

I'm trying to update my newly purchased and installed PhotoShop CS 5.5 on my iMac (less than a year old) using the "Updates" link in Help.  I get an error that says, "Update Failed.  Updates could not be applied.  Unable to write at location "Users/[my computer name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe"  Please provide write permissions to this location and try again."
Any ideas how to solve this?  I can't tell if it is a PhotoShop issue or a write permission issue on my iMac.

Where are you installing it from?  A DVD, or hard drive folder?  If a download, have you unzipped it to its own folder?
BTW  Photoshop CS5 only goes up to 5.1   It's the Suites that go to 5.5

  • Error installing CS5 updates; Some updates not showing up.

When I select a photo in lightroom 5 and opt to edit it in photoshop, I get a notification that says "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.3 for full compatibility. Pleas update the Camera Raw plug-in using the update tool available in the Photoshop help menu."
Upon entering photoshop and opening the update tool, there are two updates, but neither for the Camera Raw plug-in. I went ahead and tried to update those anyway, and at the end, I got two error messages reading "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." and "Installation failed." The updates were for Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 and Adobe Device Central CS5.0.1, respectively.
My question has two parts. First, how can I work around these error messages and successfully install the updates, and second, why is the Camera Raw plug-in update not showing up? Thanks in advance!
Below are screenshots of the Lightroom message and the update error messages.

What updates should have been available, and
Why were they not available at that time?
Lets examine the case of the backup that has been on the shelf a while.
I really would like to help, but this post does not really answer my two questions. If you want to troubleshoot this scenario, we're going to need some HARD information to work with.
WSUS reported (updates needed report) that there were 90+ updates available and approved for that machine
The computer reporded that there were no updates available.
My first eyebrow-raising moment here is the idea that a computer has 90+ updates
approved and available (and, ostensibly, cannot find any of them to be downloaded), and my very first question in response to raising that eyebrow is this: And all 90+ of those updates are NOT SUPERSEDED??? To which my second question would be: When
was the last time that machine had patches installed?
I took a look at another computer in the same OU and computer update group with the same initial install image and I see 12 updates available, all not yet approved for that group.
If the updates are Not Approved, then those updates are also Not Available.
I'll also point out here that the best way to approach this scenario is to believe what you see and investigate the reason why, rather than questioning the veracity of what's displayed in the console or the logs.
If the client says there are no updates available for installation, then that's the bottom line, and the proper response is to identify an update that
should be available for installation and determine why it's not being downloaded/installed.

  • Installation errors with CS5.5 on mac os10.9.4

    Hello,
I just tried installing from CD a recently purchased copy of CS5.5 design and web premium (student teacher). There were errors with the installation. I've gone through the troubleshooting provided for exit code 6 and 7 but I'm still getting the same errors. I also can't find these errors in the troubleshooting or install, launch errors sections. The errors I get are as follows:

ERROR: DF024: Unable to preserve original file at "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Linguistics/5.0/Providers/Proximity/11.00/swd58.ths" Error 0(Seq 408)

ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: DW050:  - Adobe Linguistics CS5: Install failed
    Any help would be wonderful!
    Thanks,
    Amanda

    Hi Amanda,
You might try copying the installation files from the disc to the desktop and run the install from there or download the installation from here Download CS5.5 products
If you wanted to make a clean start, uninstall
Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers (Mac OS X)
and use the Cleaner Tool - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    then reinstall

  • Input/Output error plus CS5.1 download error (mac)

Hi. Sorry for the long story.
Yesterday, my Photoshop CS5.5 crashed and I was unable to open the program. I tried all my Adobe products and it was the same. I attempted to uninstall (for some reason Illustrator refuses to uninstall) and had hoped I could reinstall my Creative Suite 4 I purchased back in 2010. I also have a Photoshop CS5.5 disc- all with the serial numbers that came with them, too.
Here comes the problem on my end: my old computer cannot read discs anymore. I tried for several hours to get my MacBook to read the discs- nothing. So, I turned to the forums and found a download link for all of the previous versions of Photoshop. I found Photoshop CS5.5, I hit download. Everything goes smoothly until I look at what I've downloaded- it's CS5.1, not CS5.5
Adobe has mistakenly placed CS5.1 in the CS5.5 Photoshop download and no matter who I talk to through the web tech support they can't seem to understand what I'm trying to say. My serial number works but it's only for CS5.5, obviously. And yes, they've checked, it should still be valid for CS5.5, if I can ever get the download to work for me!
    So concludes my first problem.
My second problem is with a message I keep getting when attempting to install any other version of Photoshop- the "input/output error" message. I figured, well, since I can't get CS5.5, I'll try my Creative Suite CS4. But after I download the .dmg and attempt to open the file and start the installation, I get this
I tried Creative Suite 4: Design Standard, Photoshop CS4, and Photoshop CS5- all gave me the same message. Is this an issue with my computer or an issue with the download?
For reference I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8 and I'm trying to install either Photoshop CS5.5 or Adobe Creative Suite 4: Design Standard and I have serial numbers for both

Use another browser for the download, though both your issues potentially point to your harddrive being on the verge of breaking down completely and/or your system requiring an operating system reinstall...

  • Proxy Error in CS5.5

    Hey
Not sure if anyone else has come across this. When I set a proxy for a comp, I get an error which says, "After Effects error: zero denominator in ratio multiply. ( 17 :: 17 )". I've looked up the error code in Mylenium's database, but to no avail.
The error only occurs when the proxy-enabled comp is being viewed in the comp window. If I'm viewing a parent comp (one that uses the proxy-enabled comp as a layer), everything works fine. This behavior only started when I switched to CS5.5.
Also, I use tif sequences for the proxies, and the error occurs whether I use a still or a sequence.
    Any ideas?
    (I'm on Windows 7 64-bit, if that's relevant.)

    @Mylenium: sent you a pm.
In general: I've done some more testing. The problem occurs even in a brand new project. Also tried using a quicktime .mov instead of an image sequence, but no change. Tried different resolutions: nothing. So far every proxy (or old project with a proxy in it) I've used since upgrading to CS5.5 has thrown this error.
Also interesting, the error does not occur just after rendering is finished, while I'm still in the render queue panel and the proxy is visible in the comp window. It only occurs once I click over to the newly proxy-enabled comp in the timeline panel.
I'd like to know if anyone else can repeat this. If you haven't tried setting a proxy for a comp in CS5.5, could someone try a quick test (new comp, new solid, add turbulent noise with animated evolution, then right click on the comp in the project panel and select Create Proxy>Movie and render) and post your results here? As mentioned above, I get the error as soon as I go back to the comp in the timeline panel.
    Thanks again.
    Dixon
UPDATE: Mylenium confirms the same issue on his system and filed a bug report. Hope it gets fixed soon!
