x_server []
also check out for the port 7210 entered in the services file:

You need to check the installation guide for Live Cache, you need to maintain an RFC for Live Cache without which it will give error during patch application.
And you have to follow the naming convention for the RFC to Livecache, all is mentioned in note:305634

  • (SCM-APO ) - LiveCache error - tp error : operable program or batch file

    Dear Gurus,
On one our APO systems, I cannot administer liveCache, using database connection LCA, LDA, or LEA. Using LCA as an example, with
tcode LC10> liveCache Monitoring, I get this error:
    Name and Server :    QDP - ntsapsc001
    DBMRFC Function  : DBM_CONNECT
    Error : DBM Error
    Return Code : -11
Error Message : tp error: operable program or batch file
Using tcode /sapapo/om13, I get these results:
    liveCache connection to LCA      (GREEN)
liveCache Stat. from LCA     ???    (RED)
    liveCache Initialization          001   (RED)
Using tcode SE38> program RSLVCINIT > database connection LCA, I get this error:
    Error in DBMSERVER or DBMCLI
    What is wrong ?
    Thanks and regards,
    cjperk90

In the syslog (tcode sm21), and on the NT server's syslog,
    I also get these errors:

    Please advise.

  • LiveCache Monitoring Issue

    hi,
When I try to start LiveCache Monitoring option with LC10 it's failing with Error: DBM Error; Return code -11; Error Message: tp error: operable programe  or batch file
And if say okay at this stage, it displays in status bar as 'Error in DBMSERVER or DBMCLI'
Please help, we are with SCM 7.0 on win2003 with SQL backend, ofcourse MaxDB as well.
    Thanks
    Sekhar

    Hello sekhar,
    You reported error:
    Error: DBM Error;
    Return code -11;
Error Message: tp error: operable programe or batch file
to start LiveCache Monitoring option with LC10.
-> As SAP customer you could open the OSS message to the component 'BC-DB-LVC'.
-> If you have further problems/questions with liveCache please post the thread at
        the forum MAXDB/liveCache :
          SAP MaxDB
-> I think that the problem you had due the fact that on the problematic application server
the 'Path'  environment variable of the user <SID>adm < the user which started the SCM application
Server> was NOT extended with the run directory, where tp tool located.
    To resolve your problem ::
Adjust the 'Path' environment variable of the user <SID>adm  with directory <DIR_EXECUTABLE>,
Then restart the application with <SID>adm user.
Please be sure, that if you logon as user <SID>adm to the application server you could run,
for example, 'tp -V' without problems.
You could run on the problematic server the TA /nal11 & check <DIR_EXECUTABLE>.
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

  • :-( dbmcli db_start error 1058

    dbmcli db_start error 1058
Trying again and again ..., on Windows XP SP2, to install WAS 64 SP9 from the SAPPRESS cd I get an error and I get the same error at exactly the same place when trying to install WAS 64 SP11 downloaded from SDN.
I meanwhile have experience of retrying and of running uninstall.exe, stopping services "SAP DB WWW" or "XServer", running <CD Drive>:cleanup.exe and trying to recognise something in regedit.exe : nothing helped.
Can anyone tell me where I can read up on this?
The error occurs in Phase 6 of 29 with displayed message "MaxDB: putting database cold...".
    XCMDOUT.LOG says:
    "dbmcli.exe -n <mycomputer> -d J2E -u CONTROL,******** db_start
    ERR
    -24994,ERR_RTE: runtime environment error
    1,'J2E' could not be started, rc = 1058 "
Some 30 seconds before that, sdbinst.log had noted:
"installation of MaxDB Server finished successfully".
A minute earlier sdbinst.1.log had noted:
"installation of MaxDB Runtime For SAP AS finished successfully Tu, Oct 18, 2005 at 15:42:07
please reboot your system for the changes to take effect!".
I would much appreciate any clue as to where to look to follow this thru.
I have tried searching for the above error here and for dbmcli here and for "phase 6" and for "db_start".
I have read https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/weblogs.sdn?blog=/pub/wlg/2086. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    I am on GMT+1 always.
I have tried Armin Groll's command "dbmcli -d J2E -u control, control db_state" (db_start produces the above error) and get "OK State OFFLINE".
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Guys,
    thanks for your answers.
During that SUM process, the DB is running and also SAP.
Connection by R3trans and dbmcli on commandline is possible.
I'm using database studio and the DB is in online state.

  • ,ERR_SHMNOTAVAILABLE when updating to 7_7_06_15

    Hi,
I am installing an APO landscape, this is the 5th install that has been carried out and the first where I am having issues updating the liveCache version.
The package I am using is lca700009_livecache-aix5-64bit-ppc-7_7_06_15, command ./SDPUPD -d LCV -u control,*********
It occurs at the following point in the update program process:

starting installation phase of package Database Kernel 7.7.06.15 64 bit
    unregister Database Kernel 7.7.04.29

  • How to know the SUPERDBA password or reset it

I am a complete newbie to SAP Netweaver Application server. We have upgraded our application server from 7.1 to 7.4. After the upgrade we are facing an issue, the database log is full.
To resolve this issue, we found a solution through dbmcli. Below are the steps to resolve the log is full issue.
    Steps
        1. dbmcli -d <database name> -u <username,password>
        2. db_admin
        3. util_connect
        4. util_execute clear log
        5. db_online
        6. exit
All fine, but in the first step itself I am facing exception, because I am not sure of the database password. Below is my command and error message in detail
    dbmcli -d J2E -u SUPERDBA,<mypassword entered here>
Error! Connection failed to node(local) for database J2E:
    -24950, ERR_USRFAIL: User authorization failed.
    Please help resolve this issue.

This issue got resolved now. Password should be given in quotes if it has special characters in it.
    Example:
    dbmcli Syntax : dbmcli -d <databaseName> -u <username>,<password>
If your password = $123abc, and issuing the below command
    dbmcli -d ABC -u srk,$123abc
will not work rather it shows you the error,
Error! Connection failed to node(local) for database J2E:
    -24950, ERR_USRFAIL: User authorization failed.
The same will work if the password is given in quotes as shown below.
    dbmcli -d ABC -u srk,'$123abc'
    Thanks
    Srk

    2. Second posted problem.
On which server did you run those commands?
The list of the database software packages has not /sapdb/ORA/db dependent Database kernel path
=> How did you create/install the ORA liveCache?
I´ve installed the livecache whit the installation guide, with the default paths of the sapinst. Only I´ve change the path of the datafiles.
    Please run as root user:
    cd /sapdb/programs/bin
    ./sdbverify
The output of the file sdbverify is more large. What part of the file are you need?
to check if the database software installed correctly.
    More thanks.

Firstly. Let me apologise for the very tardy reply to this thread. To be honest, I have had so many problems trying to install this software, I had rather given up and was concentrating my efforts in other areas. Since my original problem I have had numerous attempts at installation, each time resetting my laptop to 'factory' default in order to ensure that the registry etc was clear. As a result of this my installation now stops at an earlier stage than before, I.e at the ADADABINSTANCE_IND_ADA stage.
    To Craig,
As in the past, thanks for your help but unfortunately this time it didn't solve the problem.
    To Roland,
I cannot add the files you have suggested as they have not been created on my system
The only 'trace' files I get are in the c:\Documents and Settings\myName\Local Settings\Application Data\Temp\BSPinst folder and they are just copies of the data displayed during the install. Which is what I sent withv the origianl thread.
    To others,
I am afraid that I have not progressed at all and in fact as above, am going backwards.
As I have in the past successfully installed this software on a PC (Allbeit with the same sort of problems), I will persist for now.
I have detailed below my latest trace file (BSP.LOG) to see if anyone can help me get any further.

    sapinst:x:500:root,ln1adm
    sapsys:x:501:
    sdba:*:502:sqdln1,root,sdb,ln1adm
Here's the relevant part from the /etc/passwd file:
    ln1adm:x:500:501:SAP System Administrator:/home/ln1adm:/bin/csh
    sdb:x:501:502:Database Software Owner:/home/sdb:/bin/csh
    sqdln1:x:502:501:Owner of Database Instance LN1:/home/sqdln1:/bin/csh
Any idea why PAM is not authenticating the root user correctly? Even manually firing the dbmcli
    gives the same error:
    /sapdb/programs/bin/dbmcli  -n sapln1db -R /sapdb/LN1/db db_create LN1 CONTROL,vcs12345 sqdln1,vcs12345

-24875,ERR_NEEDADMI: The operating system user is not a member of the database administrators group
    -24994,ERR_RTE: Runtime environment error
    5,PAM authentication failed: Authentication failure
    Please help.
    Satish/

The group and user entries are fine. I have modified the user and groups but still getting the same authentication error. I have disabled MD5 password authentication and now its just shadow. But still the problem persists.
    Please help.

  • Dbmcli gives error  24941,ERR_NEEDLOGON or 24950,ERR_USRFAIL

This is probably a sytuoid question, but here goes...
    I'm running
    dbmcli -uUTL sqdd06,******** -d D06
where ******* is the default password I entered when installing SAP but I get the error above.   Similarly if I start it with the -d option and then do user_logon sqdd06,********
I tried it with user sdb and got the same result.  If there's some other userID I should be using I don't know it, as I don't remember creating it.

Thanks to all who replied.  Bit of background.  Installed Ides ECC6, MaxDB installed as part of it.  The system worked for a while but at a certain point froze.  Did a shutdown -r.  Appears to resttart OK (sapgui says waiting for a response (if the system ids down it normally says unable to connect); I see numerous sap entries in ps.   But since the gui never goes beyond "connecting..." I can't logon.
    In knldiag.old I see
2009-10-26 20:51:21 16488 WNG 20001 KernelDB  96 percent of log area occupied, 368637 pages used
2009-10-26 20:51:21 16488 WNG 20001 KernelDB  97 percent of log area occupied, 372477 pages used
2009-10-26 20:51:21 16488 WNG 20001 KernelDB  98 percent of log area occupied, 376317 pages used
2009-10-26 20:51:21 16488 WNG 20001 KernelDB  99 percent of log area occupied, 380157 pages used
    I thought to delete the log using exec_utility clear log.  [*}
The strange command line comes from here:
I thought I needed a utility session to clear the log?
I'm able to log on with user control,******** as suggested by Natalia.  The output of xinstinfo D06 as requested:
    IndepData           : /sapdb/data
    IndepPrograms       : /sapdb/programs
    InstallationPath    : /sapdb/D06/db
    Kernelversion       : KERNEL    7.6.01   BUILD 008-123-140-618
    Rundirectory        : /sapdb/data/wrk/D06
If I'm right that the problem is the full log, how do I prevent this in future?  I hear there's some auto overwrite function but I don;t know how to aenable it.
If it's nothing to do with that, then kindly point me in the write direction...

Another thing is, the actual password is not the same password I changed in DBMGUI and in Integration. Can you please help me with this error and -24964,ERR_EXECUTE: error in program execution keeps appearing in the logs.
    Thank you.

    Hello Deanna Mariel Marasigan,
-> please check which user you set for LCA connection in LC10 -> Integration.
You wrote, that it's SAPLC1. Correct?
-> run the SQL statement as superdba user & check if this user is listed:
    select * from domain.users
-> To make sure that the lcinit script works with the correct Standard liveCache
user then you should run the commands to check the
liveCache user in the upc container:
    In a dbmcli session (e.g. in LC10 -> liveCache:Monitoring -> Tools)
sql_execute user-type=SAP select user from dual
Should return this user - SAPLC1
When an error returns ( unknown user/password ), then no user is set or wrong password.
To set the new password for Standard user in the upc container run:
    dbmcli -d LC1 -n <LC-server> -u control,<control> user_sap SAPLC1,<pwd-new>
( please see the SAP note 616555 for more details ).
This sets the new user/pwd in the upc container.
After that the above command should return the user.
Restart the liveCache in the LC10 transaction.
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
