Error in downpayments

Hi.
I am doing F-48. In F-48, in 2nd line item, i have given a reference of Purchasing Document (PO) in which WBS was there.
When i tried to save document, it gave me error "Maintain default cost element in controlling area 1000".
I clicked on error & It took me to "Define default cost elements for down payments" Its menupath is SPRO --> Project Systems --> Costs --> Actual costs & forecast --> Update downpayments.
Let me know use of this setting. I read document. But it was not useful.

Please read the help carefully. Particularly the highlighed one. This set up is important if you want to link your WBS Element or any other cost object to down payment. However it does not result in any FI postings though.
Define default cost elements for down payments
In this section you define the cost/revenue elements, under which down payments are updated as expenses in CO.
For down payments referring to a purchase order, the R/3 System uses the purchase order cost element. If there is no reference, the cost element in the (subsequent) invoice is not known. If this the case, you should define one cost element (category 01 = primary cost elements general) for credit-side down payments in each controlling area, or one revenue element (category 11 = revenue elements) for debit-side down payments.
When you assign down payment or purchase order costs, the the R/3 System updates the account assignment objects cost center, order, make-to-order production order, WBS element, and network.
Requirements
You must have completed the section Maintain Controlling Area.
Created cost elements
Activities
For each controlling area, enter a default cost element for credit-side down payments to meet your requirements, and a default revenue element for debit-side down payments.
Further notes
The update is not dependent on whether Cash Budget Management is activated.
