Error in ESS for Personal Information

We are getting 'Type conversion error, field BEGDA, complex type class com.sap.xss.hr.per.in.pdata.model.Hcmt_Bsp_Pa_In_R0002 ' error when editing/deleting personal information .
Can you please suggest the solution?

Hello Hema,
Please check the usecase for the IT002.
It should be
40 0002 A1
and the time constraint should be 1 for IT002.
There might be a mismatch in the records here in your system.
Also try to restart the j2ee engine again, Some times it will also help in correcting the error.

JAVA webdynpro applications are attached on portal for Personal Information, Whenever employee changes his personal Information like personal details, address , Family details after pressing 'SAVE' button I want to display custom message.

1) Class CL_HRESS_PER_DETAIL is not triggering.
2) BADI HRPAD00INFTYBL is triggering on 'REVIEW' button only & it is only showing error message , I want to show successful message.
3) BADI HRPAD00INFTYDB is triggering on 'SAVE' button but method IF_EX_HRPAD00INFTYDB~UPDATE_DB don't have any message handling parameter.
I tried with class cl_hrpa_message_list in UPDATE_DB method its not showing any message.

Suggestion for personal information change

Dear Expert,
we want to create workflow for personal information, the workflow is simple; employee change their data with ess and the supervisor must approve it before the record is created in data base. I already browse the forum but i want to have you view about this. What is the quickest and easiest way to do this, please share what you have done to achieve this scenario. Thanks

I am not aware of any SAP standard ESS application that could do this - in terms of SAP standard -->
You could use HCM process and forms - a two step process between employee and HR administrator
In this case the employee would submit an Adobe form containing the data to be created or changed and the
HR admin would approve it and committ it to the DB
Its not however quick and easy as such to do this - would need to develop the processes/forms and the workflow
required and make it available to the various user roles
ESS is actually designed to be the quickest and easy way to update ECC in its current form - directly by employees via iviews without workflow steps

Interesting situation at my current client. We're doing an upgrade to ERP 2005 from 4.6C. In the client's initial implementation (global implementation I might add), the Implementation partner set up with the system with all employees in Country code 10. They designate the country at the personnel subarea level (if you're scratching your head in confusion then join the club...lol). They implemented ESS a few years ago and did a repair to the function module which fetches the users HR data to point to an alternate table that has the personal subareas, this of course worked for the old version because design time was done in R/3 for that specific ESS service. Fast forward to today and design/runtime happens on the frontend and of course there are country specific iviews for personal information scenarios. There isn't time unfortunately within the upgrade project to fix the MOLGA mess so we're trying to find a solution within the webdynpro to have it ignore molga. Any suggestions?

1) For the various countries for which SAP provides the iViews for Address, either we have to have multiple iViews for different countries, or identify one country and link its resource to other countries. (in which case all employees regardless of where they come from, would see the same screen.

a little tip: i think as a workaround to avoid lose country functionality you can hide non-mandatory fields and rename labels through iview Personalization (Ctrl + Right Click in Preview mode), in order to match screen of different countries
2) For countries that do not have SAP iViews, we again identify the closes country screen and configure it in Country Specific Settings.
Which again means, my current setting (1 Portal {Role Definition}, 1 Workset, 1 Page 1 iView) for Address for all employees and still show country specific screens by resolving molga wont work anymore?
Portal always works with MOL/UGR parameters by using std services/resources/iviews, etc.
As an alternative, you can build a custom services/resources/iviews and then avoid this call (i'm talking about relate a one particular iview with a new resource, and this with a new service).
But i suggest maintain a simmilar behaviour to std, thinking of future upgrades and to get the advantages of functionality already built...

Credit Cards for personal information - REQUIRED

Don't ever again ask someone for their driver's license..... it is an invasion of privacy. Quite frankly, it's none of your company's business who I am or what my address is. If I were dumb enough to comply, there is no guanantee that your company can offer that would ensure that my personal information would be safe from theft or use by your company at a later date for whatever purpose that you decide to use it for. In other words, it's not a good idea to hand over such info that would be entered into a database outside of my control.
If I was applying for credit... then okay, you need it.
I just recently ran into this problem in your North San Antonio store IH10.
I was attempting to return a product that quit working and I was told that your company's policy was to enter my info into your computer.
When I refused to give up my personal information, I was told that I could not return any item without complying....????????
What made matters worse, I purchased an extended warranty that made me feel more comfortable about my purchase that was not able to use as well.
Now, I could understand the excuse that your store director used and claimed to try and justify this stupid policy with... "we need to get this information to help us prevent fraud".
After that stupid remark, I reminded him that I not only have the original package, receipt, the exact credit card that was used to purchase the item and a matching driver's license, THAT HE COULD LOOK AT, that proves who I am and that he could use to validate the sale.
But that was not good enough because it's your company's policy....... What a crock of garbage.
I quickly summized that it's your company's intent is to use my information for whatever purpose that you choose in the future. Otherwise, my complete documention would be sufficient to prove that this transaction was legitimate. In other words, you are trying to extort imformation from your customers. HOW DISGUSTING
So, I have come to the conclusion that I will never do business with you jackasses ever again.

I have a suggestion. Why don't you set up a system that would be specific to each customer with a unique "in-house" I.D. that would identify the customer for tracking puposes as you see fit.
That will accomplish your goals without adding to the idenity theft problem. I wouldn't have a problem with using my email address as anidentifier.... it's already out there. A lot of companies use that now.
I don't intend to be cruel or insulting here... so please don't take it as such. But do you have any idea what you are suggesting? Do you realize the cost in this? I work for the government where I.D. cards are used and made on a daily basis. I see the administrative costs for this and I would really and truly hate to see such a burden of a cost on BestBuy. I also don't see them paying such a price for I.D. cards. There are nearly 314 million people in the U.S according to the 2012 census. and about 240.83 million of those people are above the age of 18.
Now just breaking this down even further to stay fair here... Microsoft makes out like that 200 million copies of Windows 8 licenses have been sold so far.even though realistiically you could cut down that number to less than 100 million considering not all licenses are going to be in use. You may have 60 million licenses in use. This data was took from the U.S. census and also from Computer World in 2013.
A printer that makes I.D. badges can cost you $600 and up easily. I don't know the specific amount of of stores BestBuy owns however, I do know it's over 1,000.
So right there you are looking at a $60,000 investment by itself. We already talking big money! The actual I.D. card itself will cost the company somewhere around 50 cents to a dollar PER plastic card, that's right. That's a lot of money for a card.
I just don't logically seeing this being a viable solution sorry. Again I mean no disrespect intended but I felt I needed to alert you of the actual prices of stuff such as this.

ESS error for Personal data and Family members

I am having an error in ESS For pesonal data and Family members.
The error message is
Acritical error has occured.Processing of the service had to be terminated.Unsaved data has been lost.

Check the table V_T7XSSPERSUBTYP.
Also check by the t.code HRUSER if the user have an employee assigned.
Check the log using the T.Code ST22.

ESS Personal Information not working

Here we have ECC 6 and EP7 SP10, we have uploaded BP ESS 1.0 SP 7.
For ESS Personal Information workset, iViews for Address, Bank Information, Family Information and Personal Data is showing a page in which it is given steps which are

And also in SPRO setting for Personal information under ESS head is missing
Employee Self-Service-->Service-Specific Settings --> Personal Data , there is no personal Data link.
Kindly help me what needs to be done for Displaying iViews of Personal information and getting the link for Personal Data in SPRO under Employee Self Service.

I am able to see Own Data in SPRO.
Issue is that while running Personal Information --> Address iView, the page which is being shown is like this

and no data is being Displayed.
The same is the case for other iViews of Personal Information like Bank Details and Family Details.
But for Personal Data iView it is giving this error
"<b>failed to create or init instance of model 'com.sap.xss.hr.per.in.pdata.model.HRXSS_PER_P0002_IN' in scope APPLICATION_SCOPE with instanceId 'null'"</b>.
kindly tell me what needs to be done to resolve this issue.

ESS Personal Information Services

Hi,
We are in planning to upgrade our existing ITS version to the latest webdynpro version ESS services. We will be implementing for 13 different countries. I can see based on the delivered Business Package that the iviews are based on specific countries (at lest for personal information). Due to this, i assume that i'll have to create 13 different roles (based on countries) and assign accordingly to the users (either this or use groups). Can someone confirm this? By the way, how is the checking being done against the user? Thanks

Hi Nahoj,
The country-specific apps works with the country grouping information from SAP User. To assign the country grouping, set the MOL parameter in the ABAP User.
In the customizing side you disguise this information through 2 entries:
- All services:
Employee Self-Service > General Settings > Homepage for Self-Services > Services > Define Services
- Country-specific services:
Employee Self-Service > General Settings > Homepage for Self-Services > Services > Define Country-Specific Services
You can maintain/remove services inside your countries of application, but if still that not cover your requirements, you can add a country-specific app service from another country (check this link: [Reuse Country-Specific Applications|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/6d/5e207f3bb547aebdd1399aaa3d23d7/content.htm]).
When a User enter to Portal, after read Portal's Role, it reads the country grouping and display the services enabled from All Services + services enabled from Country-specific services for the corresponding User's country grouping.

When I did RFC trace analysis (using ST 22) this is what i get.

The error is occuring in the program file SAPLHRXSS_PER_MAC.
In program "SAPLHRXSS_PER_MAC ", the following syntax error occurred
in the Include "IF_HRPA_PERNR_INFTY_XSS=======IU " in line 114:
"The type "HRXSS_PER_SUPPLD_SUBTY_INFO_T" is unknown."
Information on where terminated
    The termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPMSSY1" in
     "REMOTE_FUNCTION_CALL".
    The main program was "SAPMSSY1 ".
This place where it has terminated is highlighted in bold letters.

Error in ESS Personal information on deployment of ess/per.ear

Dear Gurus,
we have configure NWDI on our development server. we successfully checkout ess/in/bank application and made changes to a lable UI element to notice it on our server. since it refers to ess/per application, we check-out that too and deployed by right click--> deploy on the sandbox server(not dev server by normal route of check-in).
after successful deployment all personal information services address, bank e.t.c are not working properly.
Please suggest what to do.
shall I copy the ess/per.ear file from dev to sandbox ?
