Error in export to XLS
There is a major error, which occurs when you have to export long response text to xls.
Description:
1) when looking at the response texts in FormsCentral, all text is collected – even very long texts.
2) however when exported in xls, it seems like only the 256 first characters are exported, thus NOT all the text!
This is a problem which urgently needs to be corrected.
Thank you for an excellent solution
Jeppe
Hi,
Thanks for the prompt answer.
The form is not the problem. The form collects data excactly as expected. I can read all the text at the monitor from formscentral.
The problem is when you have to export the long text to xls by use of the formscentral export function. This function only takes a bit of the long text and leave the rest out.
To me that means that the problem stays with the export function and not the form.
Thanks for the help.
Jeppe

Hello all, we are having issue in several of our costumers using our application which internally is using Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime.
The error we are getting (randomly) is Error in File Report {xxxxx.rpt}: Invalid export DLL or export Format.
We have tried the following:
1) Check the mime types:
These mime types must be declared in the Reports' website.
.xls application/octet-stream
.doc application/octet-stream
.rti application/octet-stream
2) Issues generating XLS
Check if "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Path" exists, if not you must create a String value and fill it with "C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86" (without the quotes, check if this path is correct according to your installation).
Additionally, you can try adding this path to the system variable path too.
3) Check if the NETWORK SERVICE user has full privileges over the folder C:\Program Files\Business Objects\ and its childs.
4) CRUFL Library issue:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{2A2B4F96-C81B-40CD-944F-CC3ECA2FE960}\InprocServer32
If you find more than one library declared, all of them must point to the same and valid directory (The newer one)
5) The folder ASPNET_CLIENT must reside inside the reports' site and inside the default web site too, this folders must contains a subfolder with the framework version called 2.xxxxxx and inside it the folder crystalviewer12 (and subfolders).
The NETWORK SERVICE user must have full privileges over the folder ASPNET_CLIENT and its childs.
6) We looked for access denied messages with process Explorer (nothing was found)
7) Install Crystal Reports v12 SP1 Runtime into the server which is running the IIS + Reports. File cr2008_fp14_ri.zip
Restart the server after installing this Runtime.
The last time after reinstalling the Crystal reports Runtime and after restar the server, it start to work, but the client called som time later because he is having the same issue again.
We are having this issue with several customers, and it is a big issue because our system is a Reporting system and the XLS export is one of the most important features they need.
Many Tanks!Are you using Oracle?
Have you checked out the sticky thread at the top of this forum:
[Invalid export DLL or export format" with Crystal Reports 2008|"Invalid export DLL or export format" with Crystal Reports 2008;?
If you are using Oracle, the work-around at this time is as follows:
The error can be worked around by setting the System Variable to the path of the CR bin directory;
c:\program files\business Objects\businessobjects enterprise 12.0\win32_x86

Iexplorer setting that would cause export of xls error "Could not open ..."
We have a situation where the same user, on two different machines, gets two different results. The user is attempting to export to xls. We are using Discoverer 10g viewer.
On machine one, the error (Could not open https://server.co.net/discoverer/export/test.xls) prompts when attempting to open or save the exported xls. On maching two, the xls can be opened or saved with no problem. I'm guessing it is a security setting within iexplorer.
Any thoughts...
Thanks,
JamieThe quick solution to the problem was to login to XP as an administrator, backup the user profile, remove the user profile, log off, have the user re login (basically recreates profile with latest certificates and security settings), update new profile with backup data (favorites, my documents, etc...), and now all is fine. Not sure which certificate or security setting was causing the problem, but now user has the most up to date profile.

Oracle 10g Discoverer Reports & export to xls fails for large reports
Hi ,
We have following configurations:
1: RHEL 5.4
2: Discoverer :Version 10.1.2.48.18
3: Oracle10g Apps Version : Version 10.1.2.0.2
Issue:
Most of small reports works fine ....but when large discoverer reports are executed the page
keeps on refreshing for 15-20 hours but no output ....same for export to xls ......
But same reports works fine in oracle9i for same data voulme....
Observations:
When on linux with top command the processes are monitored its observed that discoverer process
dis51ws dies for large reports after 1-2 minutes ...& the page keeps on refreshing but no output....
for 1-2 minutes it consumes 50-80% cpu utilisation then process disappears & cpu 80% idle ...
It seems that as 10g Apps is installed on RHEL 5.4 ...non certfified OS causing an issue...
Can any one adds more inputs in this regards......
we have checked logs : below are log details :
Below logs gives "Logkeys: exceptions discoiv.servlet_exceptions" for this report ...

Regards,Hi ,
as per Note: 466697.1 ....its an memory error....& need to increase MaxVirtualDiskMem and MaxVirtualHeapMem
But we already have slowly increased MaxVirtualDiskMem and MaxVirtualHeapMem to below very high values ...but the issue remains same.......
as per note we are getting Logkeys: exceptions discoiv.servlet_exceptions error but
after that we are not getting below error ............
Unexpected error in state machine: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
Hence I presume that its different issue rather than memmory....
Below are pref.txt values..........
CacheFlushPercentage = 25 # Percent of cache flushed if the cache is full. valid values 0 - 100%.
MaxVirtualDiskMem = 9294967296 # Maximum amount of disk memory allowed for the data cache. Should be greater than or equal to MaxVirtualHeapMem
MaxVirtualHeapMem = 4294967296 # Maximum amount of heap memory allowed for the data cache.
QueryBehavior = 0 # Action to take after opening a workbook (0 = Run Query Automatically, 1 = Don't Run Query, 2 = Ask for Confirmation)
Also we have raised an SR & as per SR .............all below settings are tried as per SR except for applying a recent patch....
====================================================================
Discoverer performance is largely determined by how well the database
has been designed and tuned for queries.
A well-designed database will perform significantly better than a poorly
designed database.
Workbook design can also affect query performance.
1. Apply latest Discoverer patch as documented in <<Note:237607.1>>
'ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Version'.
2. Increase the maximum JVM heap memory:
In general, the default values for the minimum heap (-Xms) memory and
maximum heap (-Xmx) memory are sufficient.
However, if your organization consistently runs large Discoverer queries
then you may benefit from increasing the maximum heap memory from the
default values.
This is recomended if your users are typically running large queries via
Discoverer Viewer.
Increasing the JVM memory can help to avoid "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError"
in Discoverer Viewer:
Please see <<Note 563960.1>>, Best Practice: Configuring The
OC4J_BI_Forms JVM For
Discoverer Viewer/Portlet 10g Performance And Stability for specific
details.
3. Disable Query Prediction:
Query Prediction provides an estimate of the time required to retrieve
the information in a query.
The Query Prediction appears before the query and consumes time.
Edit the <oracle_home>/discoverer/util/pref.txt on the middle-tier
server and set:
QPPEnable=0
Also set:
QPPObtainCostMethod = 0
4. Uncheck the 'Enable fantrap detection' checkbox.
When the box is checked, every query generated by Discoverer is
interrogated. Discoverer will detect a fan trap and rewrite the query to
ensure that the aggregation is done at the correct level.
Please refer to <<Note:210553.1>>, Oracle BI Discoverer: Fan Trap
Resolution - Correct Results
Everytime for more information on fantraps.
To disable, in Plus go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Fan Trap
settings.
In Viewer go to Preferences and uncheck the box.
5. Disable Materialized Views/Summaries
In pref.txt add parameter:
MaterializedViewRedirectionBehavior = 0
Value equal to 0 ensures that Materialized View (MV) Redirection is
always performed when MVs are available.
6. Improve query performance by optimizing the SQL.
In pref.txt modify/add following parameters:
SQLFlatten = 0
SQLItemTrim = 0
SQLJoinTrim = 0
UseOptimizerHints = 0
If value of SQLFlatten is 1 then Discoverer will merge inline views in
the query SQL where ever possible.
In case of SQLItemTrim, Discoverer will remove unused folder items from
the query SQL where possible and for SQLJoinTrim Discoverer will remove
unnecessary joins from the query where possible.
UseOptimizerHints will add Optimizer hints to SQL if set >
0.Unnecessarily making Discoverer perform these checks consumes
resources and rather than increasing the performance may reduce the same. So unless you feel these checks have to be performed depending on
requirements, assign zero to these parameters.
7. When Discoverer builds a query, Discoverer makes a database security
check to confirm that the user has access to the tables referenced in
the folders. Avoiding this check can save time.
So in pref.txt underDatabase section add:
ObjectsAlwaysAccessible = 1
8. Whenever you are creating conditions, ensure that you match the Case.
This in turn can reduce the time Discoverer spends on changing the Case
and matching.
For example:
option Upper(Department) in (Upper('VIDEO SALES')
9. Ensure that summaries are refreshed periodically in Discoverer
Administrator.
10. Increase the amount of memory available for the Discoverer data cache. Please refer to <<Note 245752.1>>, Explaining Oracle BI Discoverer
Session Memory Management
And Server Cache Settings.
11. Performance may be enhanced by enabling OracleAS Web Cache.

OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED error while exporting ALV to XML
Hi,
We've developed an ALV report that uses a dynamic internal table to populate its data (this is beacause we needed dynamic columns). ALV displays properly and cells have INT4 type because we needed to print totals and subtotals. All export functions work properly (I can export to XLS without any problem) except XML export which throws the following error:

Any help will be appreciated.
Many thanks,
JosepI found something else..
If I disable totals and subtotals in my ALV export to XML works!
I simply commented the line wa_fieldcat-do_sum = 'X'. and it worked fine.
Is there any kind of restriction with subtotals/totals and export?
Many thanks

Error in exporting photoshop file
We have several copies of After Effects being used in the office. Both myself and another user have encountered a problem saving as photoshop layers. It gets 87% or so into it and then gives the error; "error in exporting photoshop file" in the info window. Any thoughts?
I don't think expressions should have any influence on teh matter. They are just another way of formulating an animation stream value just like keyframes. Icould think of a few things:
- The new pixel aspect ratio handling in CS4. Due to the conversion, something may happen to the source footages.
- Layer styles. this may cause a "cyclic use" of the Photoshop engine. Some of that stuff has changed quite a bit for CS4 to accomodate Ps Live 3D and teh new adjustment layer model.
- Hardware accelerated effects. CS4 passes through OpenGL acceleration through all comps. Using an effect that uses it and happens to think it doesn#t need to fall back into software only mode, may cause a hiccup.
- MediaCore. Similar to the previous, it uses hardware acceleration and may show weird behaviors, varying solely based on differences in graphics cards.
In particular for the last two points I would think it is what makes the difference between your systems. One of them has not enough juice on OpenGL, so it's "safe". I'd definitely investigate along those lines.

premTo find out what version of Eclipse you have, open the .eclipseproduct file.
To find out what version of the JRC you are on, you can look at the <eclipse home>\plugins\com.businessobjects.sdks.jrc.11.8.x to see what your latest version is.
This stack trace on it's own doesn't indicate why you are having a problem. It could be a problem with something in the report.... or it could be something wrong in the code. To ensure your code is correct, you should verify it against the sample code in the Developer Library and the JRC sample downloads.
Does the file get exported even though you have the error or is there no file or a zero byte file? -

'file could not be written due to an error' when exporting jpg
I'm working with an Illustrator file in CS2 and after a certain point it has started saying 'the file could not be written due to an error' when exporting to a jpg.
i've tried a couple things like deleting layers and although the file is much smaller, it still says the same error when exporting.
at its highest it was 130mb as an illustrator file and jpgs were 2-5mb.
i''ve tried copying some of the layers into a new file but the error report still comes when i'm exporting.
i have vector and raster based data in the file and tried turning off/deleting either of the layers and there is no difference.
i don't understand why it's started doing this because before it had no problem at all exporting before.
ANY IDEAS ANYONE? I'm trying not to have to reproduce days of work to remake the file.
many thanks,
PMylenium,
Sounds like you know a good deal about this product. Is there any way to restore a color profile/setting to an earlier point?
I don't recall changing it and to tell you the truth, wouldn't be able to say which it may have been set to before - if different.
Thanks,

Error when exporting reports using MAPI
We created a .NET class that wraps CR 2010 .NET Crystal Reports functions and made it COM visible. This class is used to create a COM object in a js script which in turn used to export reports to a PDF file with the destination MAPI.
It exports reports just fine without any errors however if prior to instantiation the exporting class we instantiate a class that has nothing to do with the Crystal Reports functions, our exporting object throws u201CExternal component has thrown an exception.u201D error when exporting. It appears that it has something to do with the SideBySide feature. I was wondering if somebody knows what causes this and if there is a way to fix this problem.
Thanks for your help!

I first created the COM object that causes the problem and then ran exporting CR functions. It works fine if I run the code without creating the COM object.
