Error in installing DBI_0.2-5_R_x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz

Hi,
I can install all other packages without a problem.
However, for DBI_0.2-5_R_x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz, I always got an error.
[rdf@semperf3 supporting]# /usr/bin/R CMD INSTALL DBI_0.2-5_R_x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz
* installing to library â/usr/lib64/R/libraryâ
ERROR: failed to lock directory â/usr/lib64/R/libraryâ for modifying
Try removing â/usr/lib64/R/library/00LOCK-DBIâ
For other packages, I got something like the following.
* DONE (png)
Making packages.html ... done
[rdf@semperf3 supporting]# /usr/bin/R CMD INSTALL ROracle_1.1-2_R_x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz
* installing to library â/usr/lib64/R/libraryâ
* installing binary package âROracleâ ...
I am using 11.2.0.3 64 Bit Oracle on a 64 Bit Linux machine.
Linux 2.6.18-128.1.1.0.1.el5 #1 SMP Tue Feb 10 15:14:47 EST 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Any idea?
Thanks,
Zhe

Hi Denis,
Actually there was no such file there.
Next is the sequence of actions I just tried.
[rdf@semperf3 supporting]# ls -l /usr/lib64/R/library/*LOCK*
total 0
[rdf@semperf3 supporting]# /usr/bin/R CMD INSTALL DBI_0.2-5_R_x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz
* installing to library â/usr/lib64/R/libraryâ
ERROR: failed to lock directory â/usr/lib64/R/libraryâ for modifying

Thanks,
Zhe

SAJEEV GEORGEYou need to have the following packages installed already before starting Oracle installation

I found another thread in this forum where you can look up how to extend your swap space (look at the bottom of that thread):
re:Out of swap space during 9iAS install.
I am very new to Linux, I am very much disappointed,
I installed Linux with lots of hopes that I can
Install Oracle tools easily on Linux and work
comfortably. Now If I cannot intall a small database
Oracle XE, even with 1GB Ram and 25GB harddrive on
Linux, I don't realize why people run for Linux.
I could Oracle XE on windows on a machine with 512
mb ram in 4 minutes.Maybe you should take into consideration that you are not so "new" to windows and that each new system has a learning curve.
Someone please help.. in detail. How to resize the
swap partition at this point.Look in the provided link.
I have very limitted or no knowldge in Linux.Maybe you should change that or stay with what you know. I don't see any other way ...
As a sidenote, each command under Linux does have a so called "man" page (from manual). You also need to open a shell to access those commands as shown in the thread.
And please, take a look at the commands in that thread before you start implementing, since for example the dd command seems only to create a file with a size of 512M.
Knowing how to use a search engine would also be a valuable asset in your current position.

  • Error while installing AVR Eclipse Plugin in Linux

    Hello Everyone,
I got the latest lubuntu op system running and already installed Eclipse Platform Version: 3.8.1. I am new to linux and to eclipse too.
My goal is to use eclipse for AVR programming in linux environment. I tried to follow some tutorials. They say to follow these few steps.:
[Help] -> [Install new software] -> [Work with] :site link
After i have added that link eclipse says Could not find that site link
I actually tried another method which worked for me in windows. In Windows I added the content.jar file and could install the AVR plugin. I tried to do the same in linux. However i got the following error:
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
    session context was:(profile=PlatformProfile, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).
    Artifact not found: jar:file:/home/kechua/Asztal/AVR%20Eclipse%20Plugin/artifacts.jar!/plugins/de.innot.avreclipse.core_2.4.2.jar. (...)
Is there a way to install AVR Eclipse Plugin in linux?

You should have the Marketplace Client feature installed.
Go to the Install New software, select your Eclipse base repository and look at General Purpose Tools -> Marketplace Client.
(The instructions are for Luna, I do not have older versions at hand).
Install it if it is missing and try again.
You may need to also install the GCC-AVR package from your Linux distribution repository.

    thanks

Which gcc is in your CD? List them all.
And yes, they are there. Unless someone gave you a rescue disk or stripped down live CD, in which case you need to thank the person who gave you that appropriately.
You need to search the CD/DVD and you need to learn how to install RPMs. Both can be learned by intelligent internet searches.

    Hi all,
the Problem ist still allive ^^
By Installing the RPM Package i get some errors concerning the folder /var/tmp/. I think this is the problem why the initial database is not installed. So I´ve done the steps again with the comman ./createdb.sh.
The naked DB is installed (without APEX i think). So i installed the APEX 4.0 again an i found on my external Linux Server (V-Server !) the folowing Index :
    Name
    Last modified
    Size
    i/ Tue, 14 Sep 2010 20:26:24 GMT
    public/ Tue, 14 Sep 2010 17:31:36 GMT
    sys/ Tue, 14 Sep 2010 17:31:43 GMT
A folder /i/ written by the Apex, but still no Apex !
The DB works correctly by Using Putty an start SQL+ on the V-Server but external connect is still not pssible.
HTTP Access in the DB ist set to LOCALACCESS=false
    HTTP Port = 8080
    Listener = 1521
TNSPING external DB is ok, but connecting via SQL or something still got erros written above (ORA-12514 )
by connecting with IE8 i have to connect with sys/pw . But there happened nothing after that exept showing the folders.
A firewall isn´t running on my V-Server because there is even teamspeak running with 6 servers.
I´ll try with the ORARUN.RPM and hope ist will work ^^

  • Error on Install Oracle9i R2 on RedHat Linux 7.3

When I have installed Oracle9i R2 on RedHat Linux 7.3,I reboot the machine,
    and then write this:
    sqlplus
    SQL> sys /change_on_install as sysdba
    SQL>Connect to Iddle
    SQL>startup
    SQL>sltln:environment variable cannot be evaluated
    What`s the matter?
    thanks

Looks like some file that's present in tmp or
/var/tmp during deployment cannot be overwritten
because of permissions issue. Please make
sure you don't have previous installation temp files
in /var/tmp or /tmp before doing new installation or
use the same use that installed the first instance.
You can try cleaning up tmp and /var/tmp and retry.
Also try setting umask 00 before installations.

  • Error while installing 8.1.7 on Linux

    Hello.
I'm trying to install 8.1.7 on Mandrake Linux 9.1.
After setting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5, I was able to run the installer.
However, after selecting what and where to install to, I get the following
    error message:
Fehler beim Aufruf des Ziels relink von makefile
    /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/precomp/lib/ins_precomp.mk.
As you can see, I'm installing it in german. The message should mean
    something like:
Error while calling target relink of makefile
    /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/precomp/lib/ins_precomp.mk
In the main window of Oracle Universal Installer, I see that it got to 65%

    Enterprise Edition 8.1.7.0.1).
What's the error that I'm getting and how can I make it go away?

After searching in SDN, I got one solution. That is to download MIGMON.SAR from smp.
It could be silly but can any one please help me in downloding this from smp? Bcoz, I searched but I could not find it.
Kindly let me know the complete path of it.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Faisal

    Try the following
    http://service.sap.com/patches
--> Search for Support Packages and Patches
Enter "migmon" in the search field.
Make sure you download the correct one (for 7.00, not for 7.10).

    Hi,
Are you installing from Software CD?
If you have downloaded it from the OTN, check the size of Software. This error is thrown when the downloaded software is not proper or corrupted.
Try downloading the compatiable OS specific software again. Check the size of the software and install it again.
