Error in iPad User Guide?

According to page 38 of the iPad iOS 4 User Guide, you can put up to 12 icons in a
folder. However, I have way more than 12 in several of my folders. So is this a typo or do I have an extra special version of iOS 4.2.1?

The iPad had no folders prior to 4.2.

    I could not find a chapter for iBooks in the ipad user guide(iOS 7).

    Strangely enough there is no iBooks chapter in the user guide for iOS7. It is there however, in the user guide for iOS 6.

    You get the iBooks version through the iBooks bookstore. Just search for "iPad User Guide".

    I wish I had the patience to reply to EVERYONE with basic questions like: 'how do I...' and 'I can't figure out how to...' and 'where do I find...' that downloading the "iPad User Guide" in iBooks or using the "iPad User Guide" bookmark in Safari and TAKE TIME TO REFERENCE FROM IT would be quicker and less stressful than waiting for someone to answer on a forum. Besides, basic user questions don't usually even get answered that I've noticed.
    IPAD USER GUIDE....it's a wonderful thing, you can read it in your spare time, reference from it at ANY time and get answers AND learn new things from it!!!!!
    I really don't mean to be sarcastic, because I know everyone isn't a rocket scientist, but again: IPAD USER GUIDE.....

    The way that you can post a link to a website is ....
    Navigate to the website.
    Tap and hold down on the web address in the URL field until the magnifying glass appears and then release your finger from the screen
    Tap on - Select All from the pop up
    Then - Select - Copy - from the next pop up.
    Go back to wherever you want to past the link
    Tap and hold down in the text field until the magnifying glass appears and then release your finger from the screen.
    Select - Paste - from the next pop up.
    The link will appear in the post.

    The pre-loaded manual with the cloud at the top right corner cannot be deleted because they are not on the iPad.

    OK, I know I saw it.  And I showed it to my brother at the time because he had wondering why no users guide was included in the packaging.  There was a droid menu on the upper right of my iPad 2 that said "users guide".  It did list about four or five other topics but I can't recall what they were.  In any case, I can not find it again.  Stupid me oft not remembering the the path to it.  Can anyone help?

    Go into iBooks, go to the Store (if iBooks opens with a book already open, you will have to go to Library first, then tap on Store).  Within the store tap on Featured at the bottom left, scroll down to Popular Collection, and scroll right to iOS 7 Guides.  Download the iPad User Guide for free.
    Now the guide will always be available to you from within iBooks.
    I created a separate Collection in iBooks for Manuals, and put the guide in there, so it is always easy to find.

  • IPad User Guide "Chocolate Chip Cookies" Recipe

    In the "iPad Users Guide", at the top of page 17, there's a graphic demoing the app "Notes".
    What's written there is a chocolate chip cookie recipe, but it's too small to read.
    So I screengrabbed that page, blew it up & copied down the recipe.
    Here, forthwith, it is ....
    Chocolate Chip Cookies
    2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 cup butter (softened)
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    2 eggs
    1 cup oatmeal
    2 cups chocolate chips
    Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts
    Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, sugar and
    vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs, mix well. Add flour gradually. Stir in
    oatmeal, chips and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto baking sheet. Bake at
    375 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes.

    When I tap on settings in iPad user guide, I can't get the control window to open. All I get is the instructions in the General Window??

    Are you trying to alter your settings on your iPad? If so, you really can't do taht from within the manual. Miminize that, open the 'settings' icon on your iPad and that should get you to where you can change things. The only links that are within the manual is to other places in the manual.

    i was looking for the user guide for numbers for iPad in PDF but didnt find anything on the net or the suppport sections.
    all what i found are user guides for Numbers 09 ,obviously for Mac.
    till i found this link,so i thaught it would be helpfull for somebody ,since i was searching hard for it .
    the file is not a PDF but is better than nothing and you can read it on safari without being disturbed by the small windows on the app itself

    Yesterday I installed iOS6 along with 4 updates one of which was the User Guide, as I recall.   But my user guide till has iOS5  Maps guidance so must be the old guide.  How do I download the iOS6 UserGuide and new Maps guidance? Thanks

    There doesn't seem to be one for iPad yet. There is an iOS 6 guide for iPhone. They are virtually the same.

  • Original iPad User Guide for iOS 4.3?

    I've updated my iPad (and iPhone 3GS) to iOS 4.3. I then went to http://support.apple.com/manuals to download the latest User Guides for iOS 4.3. I found one for the iTouch, 1 for the iPhone, and 1 for the iPad 2. However, an iOS 4.3 User Guide for the Original iPad is not to be found. Has anyone else found it? If so, please post a link. Thanks.

    Maybe I did misunderstand you but perhaps there will be no additional manual for the original iPad running 4.3. You just take the 4.3 updated manual and apply the instructions to the original iPad. There will be some things that don't apply to the original because the iPad2 is a new design, but Apple didn't radically change the way things work from 1 - 2. You just ignore the things that don't apply to iPad 1.
    At this point I'm pretty sure you should know which instructions are specific for iPad2 if you use the 4.3 guide. The same software features apply to both models. You boot them the same way, you troubleshoot the same way and so on. It shouldn't be that big of a deal.
    I buy devices all the time that come with generic instructions, written in four different languages, that apply to three or four different models. When I read those instructions I have to pay attention to the instructions that apply to my particular model - and ignore the rest. Those instruction manuals can be a nightmare to sift through. Apple makes their's pretty easy to read and navigate through.
    BTW ... even though you refuse to believe it, the 3.2 and 4.2 guides ARE for your original iPad. There was no iPad 2 when this were published. This is your quote.

  • Interesting problem with the iPad User Guide ...

    When I first got my iPad ... very much unlike myself, I thought ... I should read the manual rather than just stumble into how to use this thing.
    I went to the manual ... and, first, it was a webpage. What if I was having problems connecting to the Internet?
    Then ... it is a very large PDF file and takes quite a long time to load. I got it and read a little of it, and went off to do something else. Later I wanted to read some more of the manual.
    When I went to the manual again ... I had to download the entire thing again.
    Huh??? What if people want to read the manual when they do not have internet access or the time it takes to download a 20MB PDF file?
    Yes .... 20 MEGABYTES! That is a long time on a wifi connection.
    Is there something I am missing? Is there a way to cache or store a web page, or write it to a file? Because I did not see anything like that. Is there a local help file or facility on the iPad, because I did not really see that either?

    Yeah, the maximum attackment size, done for reasons of market share.
    And yes, 20MB is along time over wireless when you are looking for a
