I used migration to send photos form my Mac Book to my I Mac now i get an error message "iPhoto can not be opened because of a problem"  Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of Max OSX.  You may need to install any available updates or reinstall IPhoto.
I tried installing Iphoto it said it was downloaded successfully. I still get the error messafe, and can not open any photos of program,  any suggestions?

What version of iPhoto do you have on the Macbook and on the iMac? What systems are you running on the Macbook and on the iMac?
Does the message only refer to "a problem" or does it specify what it is?

Update ProKit if there is an update or more recent release.

  • Error uploading iphoto book

I am using iphoto 6.0.4. I keep getting an error while trying to upload pictures. It assembles the book okay then always gets stuck at "transferring 119k of 15.1 MB" for a while then an error message pops up saying there was an error with one of the files, try again? If I hit 'try again', it reads 15.1MB of 15.1MB but doesn't ever do anything. I would really like to order a few books but can't seem to get past the ordering page. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi again Tracy,
Before going any further I would create a new user account on your computer and try to send a book from over there. This is help eliminate the possibility that there is something wrong with just your user account.
For instructions on creating a new account go here --> http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh168.html
    If that fails then continue:
I wonder if you have ever been able to order books in the past. It sounds like the upload speed on your internet connection might be too slow for the iphoto print server.
I'm not familiar with "Direcway". Is this cable, dsl, fiberoptic, or satellite?
If its Satellite we can probably stop right here. Satellite internet is NOTORIOUS for having poor upload speeds and intermittent connection quality.
If it is satellite read my following comments and give them a shot just to cover your bases.
If you are running your computer through a router or hub like an Airport Extreme, Linksys, etc. I would recommend plugging your computer directly into the internet (modem or whatever you have in your setup). By bypassing this extra devices you eliminate possible interference from those device and devote as much speed to your computer as possible.
Often ISPs will save cost by giving us high download speeds so we can us web sites with relative ease. But the upload speed (or ability to send data out) is fairly slow.
You have to have a good solid connection (not a lot of packet loss) that is running at a minimum speed of 152 kbps or twice that of a standard telephone modem running 56k.
To test your connection you can go to http://www.dslreports.com/stest this will check your upload and download speed.
Essentially if your upload speed is very low or it looses a lot of data in transit (packet loss) there isn't much you can do on the computer end. Its an issue with your ISP.
If all else fails you may want to use a friends computer to publish your book if they have access to a different connection type. You can also look to see if there is an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Reseller (not to mention an Apple Store, which would be perfect) in your area. http://www.apple.com/buy/
You can copy your iphoto library onto a CD/DVD and take it in. You can then publish from their computer.
    I hope that helps.
Please check back if you need further assistance.
    Cheers!

  • Error in iPhoto 6: "no pages from the document were selected to be printed"

Getting this error: "no pages from the document were selected to be printed" after -- you guessed it -- selecting a photo and trying to print (from iPhoto 6).
Everything was working fine (I had successfully printed several photos) and then I tried to get the printer to communicate through a Bluetooth dongle plugged into the printer, and now the printing won't work, although I'm plugged into the printer via USB. Printer is an Epson PictureMate PM200.
I've tried deleting the iPhoto preferences file, but that didn't seem to help.
    Thanks!

Okay, so I ran the disk utility, repairing disk permission as well as deleting the iPhoto permissions file, and I have successfully printed - yippee =).
    Thanks, Old Toad.

  • Error in iPhoto Category

    Hi, all.
Is it just me, or does anyone else see a problem loading the iPhoto category or any other forum? I refreshed the page today and it was twice as wide as it should be. I figured I needed to freshen up my browser, so I quit Firefox and tried again. This time it wasn't too wide for the screen, but I got something weird.
At the top is the normal iPhoto category page, followed by the beginning of the list of topics. Weird thing is, after 16 topics listed I have an error page:
I've tried loading several times and keep getting it like that. If I choose a subcategory or specific forum I do not get this error.
    Anyone else see this?
    Regards.

    You're Welcome Smtr!
But I don't know if my alert had any bearing on the correction.
Your & Ileen's topics, in this Forum, may have also done the trick!
    And Thanks for the !

  • Front row error with IPhoto 6

When i'm using front row, and finish watching a slide show that I made with IPhoto, then select Library to see the slidshow of all my photos, it causes an error. It says "IPhoto is not responding. Press the play/pause button to return to the desktop". And when i return to the desktop, IPhoto opens, and the Library is selected under source on the left, but on the right it's trying to show a slideshow, but the image preview is black, and there are no thumbnails of the photos in the slideshow up top. So i click on Last Roll, or another album, but it is still showing the same black preview with no thumbnails. But when i click on the slideshow I last played, the preview loads, and all of the thumbnails are back, and basically it goes back to normal.
I provided all the details i could, if you need more info, just ask. This is the first problem i've had with my macbook, im still so glad i bought it.
    MacBook2,1   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Try deleting the Front Row preference file, com.apple.frontrow.plist.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Error exporting iPhoto album

    I use iPhoto'09 Version 8.0.4 (4.0.9), I made a new album photos which contains 188 pictures, when it's done..tried to exported...at the end I got this : Operation could not be complated. ( OSStatus error -2166. )
I've made about 5 albums before...with no error...
    Anyone has this error...?
How can I resolve it, please help me, thank's appreciated..

The only reference I've found to the error code -2166 was with regards to a move file ripped by Handbrake from a DVD which Quicktime couldn't play.
You might try repairing disk permissions and verify the hard drive with Disk Utility. If repairs are indicated you'll need to boot into the system install disk and, in the first window after the language selection window, launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and repair the disk.

  • Error message  IPhoto 5.04 ' a unofficial Photo library'

When I try to start up IPhoto it gives the error message "there is no officel photo library of IPhoto please restart with IPhoto 2 of 4
Any off you have any ideas
    Gr Thijs

    Hi Thijs,
There are some things you can try but I don't have much hope of them working
    1. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist found in your Preferences folder
    2. Check and make sure there is a folder called "iPhoto Library" in the Pictures folder
    3. Launch iPhoto holding down the option key and choose a library to open by navigating to the library and choose it.
If none of those work you might just want to create a new library and import the old library into it.
Directions are on Page 2. follow the directions at the beginning and then choose one of the methods to import the images. I suggest trying #2 first and see how it goes.

  • I can't open my iPhoto i keep getting an error your iPhoto is either in use by another application or has become unreadable what do I do?

i cant open my iphoto i keep getting an error saying your photo library is either in use by another application or has become ubreadable

    reboot your Mac
If that does not do it then Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

  • Does anyone else this error after iPhoto crashes when importing?

I tried searching for answers on Google, Bing, Webcrawler, and even Wolfram but there is no answer for this anywhere on the web.  Just got done installing my new hard drive.  I made sure to backup EVERYTHING and I even made a zip copy of my iphoto library.
On my initial first launch of iPhoto, I try to import my library and iPhoto crashes after about 3 seconds.  In the error report window that comes up, it lists this as the reason why it was terminated:
'[<NSCFDictionary 0x1f0ad190> valueForUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key 1140.'
Does anyone know if this is a simple code fix or how to solve errors like these?  Remember, this is fresh install of OS X on a new SSD hard drive.  All of my Adobe apps are running great with no hassles.  The only apps that are giving me trouble are iPhoto and Aperture.
Even worse is that now Aperture is stalling every time I try to export a version of a photo that I retouched.  I'm thinking it probably has something to do with why iPhoto constantly crashed when importing.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

When I said, "import," I meant that I do drag my iphoto library as whole and drop it into iPhoto.
That is eactly what you NEVER do - that is importing the old library into the new one - you never do that
    again it is very simple
You NEVER Import an iPhoto library - period
You drag an iPhoto Library  intact as a single entity to the pictures folder and launch iPhoto --  No importing involved

  • Post upgrade to Mountain Lion - no access and error with IPhoto

Hi, I work on MacBook Pro 17 inch with operating system OSX 10.8.1.  Since I have upgraded to Mountain Lion, I am unable to access IPhoto.  Whenever I enter the programme through the icon, I receive start up message stating 'updating thumbnails'.  After about 2 of minutes, it crashes and I receive error message as below.  What do I need to do fully operational IPhoto?

  • Error in iphoto book - The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.chameleon.pdfGenerate error 1.)

When I try to preview my book it gives me this error:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.chameleon.pdfGenerate error 1.)
I have seen other threads that have different reference numbers, but none with this one?
    Thanks

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode and try the preview there.  If it works then you'll need to order the book in Safe Mode when you're ready to order unless a solution is found before then.
Are you ordering an XL sized book by any chance?  There were some issues with that but it should have been fixed by iPhoto 9.4

  • Error in iPhoto pictures overlayed on video

I have found a number of error which I'm surprised no one else has posted.
Refer to the attached picture: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b322/chaosboi/imovie.jpg
The first picture I have overlayed (top left of screen IMG_1129) is displaying an incorrect picture in the preview window.
The second picture isn't playing in the preview window and the third is also displaying an incorrect picture.
I have tried to create new projects using different pictures and videos, and sometime I can only add two picture overlays and sometime more. It's working very randomly.
Can anyone try to replicate what I'm experiencing?

After installing an iPhoto update the correct pictures are now displaying in iMovie, but iMovie will still not show all of my overlays I have added.
It always allows a different amount of overlays before it will not display anymore
Has anyone came accros the same issue, or has anyone been succesfull in overlaying pictures over video?
    Thanks.

  • Front Row has an error finding iPhoto library

I recently transferred files from my old iMac to my new one. It runs Leopard and everything works on FR except Photos. I updated everything when got the new computer. iPhoto works fine and the iPhoto library is where it should be. When I choose photos on fR it states that "An error has occurred" What gives and please help.
    Thank you

Read the instructions and found the AlbumData.xml file, but couldn't get my browser to tell me where the error was (step 2)
    "The solution…
    1.Close iPhoto…
2.Locate where in the AlbumData.xml file the invalid data is (the error [in your web browser] should report at what line the invalid XML is
    3.Open the AlbumData.xml file with an application like TextWrangler and go to the specific line with the error - in my case the problem was with one of my keywords (i.e. “List of Keywords”);
    4.Open iPhoto and highlighting the offending data - re-enter it thereby replacing the invalid data;
    Close iPhoto
    5.Delete AlbumData.xml
6.Re launch iPhoto - make a change (e.g. create a new folder or album) [this last step forces iPhoto to republish the AlbumData.xml file]
    NB
    the error could have been, I assume, in any part of the file not just the keywords;
you can’t edit the AlbumData.xml file directly since iPhoto never reads the file - only writes to it, so any changes will be overwritten.
A word about the AlbumData.xml file
iPhoto generates the AlbumData.xml file (inside its library folder). This file is only used by other applications, such as Front Row and Aperture (iPhoto never reads this file), so that they can locate photos and albums in the photo library. In other words the file is not used by iPhoto rather it is created by iPhoto to aid integration.
The fact that there are cases where iPhoto will write out malformed XML to the AlbumData.xml file, causing other applications to be unable to read the file correctly seems perverse - iPhoto should never be allowed to do this."
