Hello Siva,
When ever you start J2EE server it needs enough memory to start its processes.
Just see no other processes are occupying memory.
If you can restart the system once and start J2EE it will work fine.
When it comes to J2EE processes not running it always boils down to not enough JVM. Kindly look into system so that it doesn't have too many processes starting when system comes up.
See to it it has enough memory available to start JVM. What happens when you start Java is Jlaunch talks to instance.properties based on this file J2EE looks for several processes and services. Which needs enough memory.
So I would request you to restart system once and see to kill the processes which are occupying too much of memory.
Then Restart the Java this will work.
Thanks & Regards
Vivek

I have recently installed the J2EE SDK 1.3.1 and J2SE SDK 1.4.1_02. Upon starting the j2ee server (j2ee -verbose), get the following error message.

I am running Linux 7.2, Apache 1.3.27, Tomcat 4.1.24., and have two (2) NICs.
Any ideas on what might cause this issue?I believe I got the server working. The system may have had an issue recognizing the environmental variables being set in the .bash_profile and the setconfig.sh.
If anyone could clarify the errors above, I would greatly appreciate the information.

Leviking ... what do you mean by a non-server machine?a non server machine is called a workstation, it is usually a machine that other machines on the network do not depend on.
If I have a j2ee server (for example JBoss, Websphere, Resin, etc.) installed and running on my machine (be it >win95), I'm in business, ain't I?sure but if you follow your class well you know that a J2EE server is a distributed server that enables clients(workstations) to access a large object store ( bin) and that centrelizes the informations, that's why a win 98 machine alone is only good for developping and learning at home and will be no good to a business for example.
If you mean that the machine won't be able to handle the load ... well, for testing and learning ... there ain't no load >so that be the purpose! your definetly right here to learn and try stuff it's good but load control is an important part of a well develop j2ee application. and i tough you would of like to know it
keep up the good work -
Error starting J2EE server in debug mode
I am trying to start the Sun 1.4 application server in a debug mode. I get an error
err:FATAL ERROR in native method: No transports initialized

Error [2] in bind() call!
Socket transport failed to init.

The setting in config.xml file is:-

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
MilindI changed the port number and it worked. Not sure why port 1044 as specified in the Sun documentation doesnot work.

Error in starting the j2ee server
Hi...... I installed the j2sdkee-1_3_1-win........... I was able to deploy and run some sample web apps but after compiling a java file (tag lib) and setting my classpath (to point to a servlet jar file) I started getting this errors (see below).... Can someone tell me how to go about this? the keystore.jks is definitely existing in my C:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\security\ folder.
Thanks in advance!

Could not connect to localhostI'm not sure the IOException is the real issue. It looks like there may be some other process using one of the ports the SDK is attempting to bind to. Did you try rebooting your machine and restarting the SDK? If there is another process using a port the SDK requires you may need to change the ports used by the SDK. You can find most of the port settings in the config directory in one of the properties files, depending which port you would like to change. Looks like the orb port is you issue so reboot or modify orb.properties.

Gabi405 errors in the HTTP cycle
Any client goes through the following cycle:
* Obtain an IP address from the IP name of your site (your site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs).
* Open an IP socket connection to that IP address.
* Write an HTTP data stream through that socket.
* Receive an HTTP data stream back from your Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information.
This error occurs in the final step above when the client receives an HTTP status code that it recognises as '405'.
Resolving 405 errors - general
405 errors often arise with the POST method. You may be trying to introduce some kind of input form on your Web site, but not all ISPs allow the POST method necessary to process the form.
All 405 errors can be traced to configuration of the Web server and security governing access to the content of the Web site. -
Error when starting j2ee server, please help
JMS expert,
I am using j2sdkee1.3 with jdk1.3.1_01 over NT system. When I started JMS provider by "j2ee -verbose", I got an exception saying "TCP/IP ports(1050) in use by another process". Then I tried other port numbers like 1051 and 1061, the same error kept coming. What is the best port number I should use or whatelse I should do to solve this problem? Thanks.

All in all I wouldn't recommend anyone wasting their time trying to help you until you can stay put in one thread and respond to those who do take the time to try and help you. -

Stop if any of these service is running and restart your m/c. If still it doesn't work then change the port no. in orb.properties file in J2EEHOME\config.

Web Service problem with J2EE server
Hi,
I am trying to test my web service from WSADMIN and it's giving me following error:
HTTP Status 404 - /wsnavigator/jsps/index.jsp
type Status report
message /wsnavigator/jsps/index.jsp
description The requested resource (/wsnavigator/jsps/index.jsp) is not available.
As my SAP System is not running on J2EE server, So i downloaded J2EE (SDK) from sun web site
and after starting the server i tested my webservice but still it's giving the above error.
J2EE server Address that i entered in WSADMIN is http://localhost:8080.
So please tell me what should i do to run this web service and let me know is it possible to use web service if sap sytem is not on J2EE server.
Thanks,
RahulHi Rahul,

Error executing J2EE server ...
how bout this problem? -
Once again: j2ee server doesn't start :(
after installation it worked just perfect. yesterday something happened, no idea what, and now it doesn't want to start anymore.
it says: "Unable to create ORB. Possible causes include TCP/IP ports in use by another process". Well i tried to change it to 1049, 1051, 10590 and so on. No result: it doesn't like any other ports as well :(
did anybody had such a problem or has any idea what could it be?
thanks!
here is the complete error message:

J2EE server reported the following error: Unable to create ORB. Possible causes include TCP/IP ports
in use by another process
Error executing J2EE server ...I had the same problem, and this hint solved it.
I changed the port number in setenv.bat.
from: http://docs.sun.com/source/816-4063/ffjee40_troubleshooting.html
This error occurs when another process is already using the 1050 listen port. You can either shut down the other process or change the port number assigned to J2EE Reference Implementation 1.3.1 to something other than 1050, for example, 11050. This error can also occur if the 1060 listen port is in use, even if the 1050 port is not in use. Do the following to correct the problem:
Determine whether the 1050 port is in use, the 1060 port is in use, or both are in use.
Change whichever is in use. To change the 1050 port assignment, you must modify the $J2EE_HOME\config\orb.properties file.To change the 1060 port assignment, use a text editor to modify the $J2EE_HOME\setenv.bat (for Microsoft Windows systems), or $J2EE_HOME/setenv.sh file (for Solaris or Red Hat Linux environments).
