Error in LabView.exe after each start

I installed LabView 7.0 in an older computer (Pentium III, 500 MHz, 512M RAM, Windows 2k sp4) along with GPIB and E-series PCI cards. Each time I open LabView it crashes and says "LabView.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. An error log is being generated." The error log is attached, but means nothing to me. It crashes with regularity within 30 sec of opening LabView but I seem to be able to run .vi's during that time. I've tried:
1) Reinstalling
2) updating video card driver and ActiveX
3) installing on a different drive
none of these help.
Any help you may have would be appreciated.

LabVIEWlog.txt ‏1 KB

Hello,
The file you attached is a LabVIEW.ini file, where the configuration settings are stored. Please find the error log file, and this should give you a better idea what might have caused the error.
There are two types of log files. There are those created by LabVIEW and those created by Windows.
The log file created after internal LabVIEW errors is called LabVIEW_Failure_Log.txt and it is stored in your temporary LabVIEW directory. By default, this directory is located at C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Local Settings\Temp (Windows 2000).
NOTE: By default, the Local Settings folder is a hidden folder. In order to view hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer, select Tools » Folder Options » View. In the Advanced Settings field, select Show
hidden files and folders.
If you have modified the location of you temporary directory, the log file will be located there. To view or change LabVIEW's temporary directory path, go to Tools » Options » Paths » Temporary Directory. For more information on the error information contained in the LabVIEW_Failure_Log.txt file, visit the LabVIEW Internal Error Support Page linked below.
If you receive an error message saying that LabVIEW has generated errors and will be closed by Windows, there will be a different log file created. This is a log file created by Windows, and by default it is a Dr. Watson's error log file. These log files are saved as .log file under ...\WINNT folder for NT based systems, and as .wlg under ...\Windows\Drwatson folder for Windows 9.x systems.
If you open just LabVIEW, without trying to open a VI, will you still receive the crash? If so, can you create a new simple VI similar to the VIs that crash LabVIEW and run it? Do you call any hardware driver or o
ther dlls with the VIs that cause LabVIEW to crash?

If you are using Firefox 3.6.6 version, open Tools > Options >> Advanced - Network
The under Connections hit the Settings button - then select '''No proxy''' at the top of those settings. Restart Firefox and you should be all set.

How can I stop iTunes 10.1.2 doing this as the files seem to have no function ?
    thx

    Hi,
as the files seem to have no function ?
Those files are there for a reason. They contain all your iTunes preferences. Do not delete them. Open iTunes then from the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferneces.

  • Labview exe slow to start over network

I am executing a Labview exe built in version 7.1.1 by running it from a local server in our plant. It takes approx. 50 seconds to display it's front panel. If I run it from my local drive it comes up in a few seconds. To copy the exe from the netwark drive is also quite fast, only a few seconds. I have seen this behavior many times with Labview exe's running from a network drive. Does anyone know why this is happening, and if there is a solution to this slow startup issue?
    Thanks,

It's good to know it's not just me that has this problem, and I can run locally since we are doing CRC check on the exe before using it. I would still like an explaination for why this is the case with Labview exe's (or maybe any exe)?
    Thanks,

  • Imessages not sending/ receiving.  All texts made to other iphone users produce an error message where it shows as it was unable to deliver, however, the messages go through, but error still comes up after each imessage sent.  this does this for each text

I have the Iphone 5S.  Over the last few days, I continually get mail delivery errors when imessages are sent to any contacts who have iphones.  I have spoken to my friends/ family who are also on the receiving/ sending end of my messages.  They also say that they are receiving an error/ mail delivery error when they send imessages to my phone.  Text messages are working fine (with other phones that are not iphones) and no delivery errors come up.  However, it is just with me sending or receiving imessages.  I have gone in to settings> messages> send & receive and all my information is right.  I have also attempted to cut the phone off and back on (hard reset as well) and this has not fixed the problem.  I then explored to see if my software was out of date, however, i have the most up to date software for the iphone 5 S.  Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem, as it is annoying to both me and anyone else who has an iphone that sends me a text/ imessage as it will *alert* that there was a delivery failure.
    Please help!!

There could be a problem with iMessage, although usually when there is an outage these boards are flooded with problems.    It could be a very isolated issue, and if just started all of a sudden, it might be something at Apple.
Although it is annoying, I would just wait it out a few days and see if it goes away on its own.

Please check your event log and see if you use the current runtime. A new runtime library is necessary to fix an ATL security issue, see

  • I have Labview 5.0 and I can't run a program it gives me a runrime error C++ relating to the Labview exe file. Do you know where to start to fix this?

I've had this version for quite a long time and haven't had any problems with it. When I start Labview normally it seems to work fine I can look at individual Vi's and such but when I go to start a Vi program or even the tutorial it gives me a "Runtime error message C++
C:\Program File\National Instruments\LabView\LabView.exe  abnmormal program termination." I'm not sure if it is a computer problem DAQ card (PCI 6023E) problem or a software glich. If you have any ideas of where to start tracking this down please let me know ASAP. It is a work stoppage situation.
    Thanks for your consideration

My iTunes will not start.  The box on the error message APSDaemon.exe,  And message says "This application failed to start because MSVC80.dll was not found.  Reinstalling may fix."  I did the reinstall and I get the same error.  The error first happened after I approved the an iTurns update.

Same problem today. Took five times to reinstall without any error messages. Apple has posted a way to fix and you should follow their's first. I finally got to upldate correctly by doing their fix but with one difference. I did the following:
    1) Went to the C:\program files (x86)\iTunes and C:\program files\iTunes folders and moved every file ending in .dll to the desktop (even if two files in same location had the same name, just replace)
    2) Restarted computer and still got error message
    3) Uninstalled all apple programs possible in the following order......itunes, apples software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support.....all performed using the microsoft control panel
    4) put all the .dll files on the desktop in the trash and emptied (this is a step apple support did not specifically put in their fix but for a final try I wanted to delete everything apple).
    5) Restarted computer.
    6) Re-installed itunes from apple website
No error messages during re-install and was able to open shortcut in one try. Even updated my ipad to make sure everything was working.

    Hi Tim,
    Uninstalling
KB3045999 works as a workaround like Wastashi said. We too have this problem.
@Karen Hu: Startup repair didn't find anything here and this is probably because the system boots properly but only after a user logs in the "Error: userinit.exe - Application Error : The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000018)"
appears. Safe mode works however and after I disabled all the startup items and rebooted I could successfully logon once, but this could be coincidence because sometimes after a reboot you can login as pointed out by Tim NL. However a few seconds
after I successfully logged in and saw the desktop, the pc rebooted spontaneously. Any idea what this could be causing? Virus scanner maybe?

It does not seem to interfere with the normal operation of Photoshop Elements, but it is a constant annoyance.

  • Reading the output values after each step executes in LabVIEW User Interface

    Hello all,
    Development environment: TestStand 2010 SP1 and LabVIEW 2010 SP1
Problem: is there a way to execute the subsequent steps programatically and get the output values from each of them?
I have already extended a little bit a Full OI interface for TestStand to load up any sequence, choose some of the steps and run them step by step (something like option to Run Selected steps). What I am trying to do is to add some actions between each step and do that in User Interface (I can't modify the sequence!), so I am starting the NewExecution with some previously configured InteractiveArgsParam and set an option breakAtFirstStep to True. Afterwards I am just doing something like Step Over when debugging the sequence and this works good, but I didn't fine a way yet to read the output values from the steps...
Then, if I wait until the execution finishes I can read my Results by processing the ResultObject, but this works only after finalizing of the test sequence. Since I wanted to stop after each step, read the values, do some actions and continue to the next step I tried to register an event callback for Trace of Execution View Manager. I can see that after each executed step this event is triggered, but when I try to read a ResultObject returned in Event Data it is not filled with values (ResultList seems to be empty?). Is it a proper behaviour or maybe I am doing the readout in wrong way? (It is the same VI as for reading ResultObjects after sequence finishes and there it works fine for arrays, containers and other data types).
    Like I mentioned I can't modify the Test sequences, I can't add a UImessages.
What are my options? Should the trace event returns all output values from each steps or is it just used for status checking? Or maybe there is completely different approach to that matter?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    Best Regards.

    Solved!

Thanks for your replay, I have tried to build it in my LabView Block Diagramm, es seems like this image.
But the variable GetNumSubProperties ist always 0. Why?
PS: I need only the variable "Step.Result.PassFail" from the last step, do you know, how can I get it? I think, it is maybe easier than read all the "Result".

  • Runtime Error: abnormal shutdown of c:\program files\...\labview.exe

Okay.  I've just upgraded to labview 8.0 last week and have been using it without error until the program hung when I opened it one day.  To remedy the situation and after waiting a while, I "ctrl+alt+del"ed it and forcebly closed the application.  From then on, the main lab view program will not function.  I get a runtime error saying that the program (c:\program files\...\labview.exe) was shutdown adnormally and to consult with the software manufacturer. Other NI applications function without error (ie: Measurement and Automation Explorer, Previous versions of labview, etc).
I tried to reinstall the upgrade to no avail.  Leason learned:  ctrl+alt+del is evil.  If you have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate any input and I will relay the results.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi Wiztrek,
This does indeed sound like an odd error/situation. We'll do our best to get it sorted out for you though! A few questions for you:
    1. What kind of computer is this? Laptop, server, desktop, etc?
    2. What OS? Service Pack (if applicable)?
    3. When does it happen? You mentioned the splash screen -- is that as far as it gets?
Something you could try (and this is a shot in the dark) is to rename or delete the LabVIEW.ini file (it's in the same directory as LabVIEW.exe). If that doesn't work, I think a reinstall is best to try to fix it. Remove LabVIEW 8.0 from your computer via Add/Remove Programs. Then completely delete the "LabVIEW 8.0" folder from "Program Files/National Instruments" on your harddrive.
When you run the installer again (after rebooting of course), make note of any errors you receive (if any). Try following the steps outlined in this KnowledgeBase -- we might get something useful out of the install log:
How Do I Generate an Error Log File for a Software Installation?
I hope this helps shed some light on the issue - let us know what you find out!

  • Labview.exe - Application Error

While running VI in Labview 7.1, I receive the following error:
    Labview.exe - Application error
The instruction at "0x05791a4b" referenced memory at "0x00000034".  The memory could not be "written".
Has anyone seen this error?  Does anyone have an idea of the cause?
For reference, this is a new computer, XP Pro, 4G ram.  I did not get the error on the previous computer running the same code, but the old computer had other issues that required it be replaced.

This looks like an error popup from windows.  Those hex values are going to be different depending on where the problem is in memory, and that could be different every time.  It might have created a Dr Watson's error report, but that usually isn't enough to determine the cause.
I agree with John's direction -- is it reproducible?  Is it only one VI?
Do you ever get another type of error message from LabVIEW?  If fatal, it will appear when the error occurs.  If a warning, it will appear at LabVIEW's next start-up.  Please refer to:
