when installing last Verison of nokia software updater
i get error message :
ERROR 1720 . there is a problem with this windows installer package . ascript required for this install ....... custom action Kill_process script error -2147217406 : line 5 , column 1, .
plzzz tell me how to solve this problem . i need to update my n95 firmware

I am trying to install the Nokia Updater Software and I keep receiving:
Error Reading Setup Initialization File
There is an update available from V 3.0638.0.0.1
My N73(8) was purchased in Saudi Arabia the product code is 0529785.
The new software availability is: V 3.0649.0.0.1 .

First, uninstall any occurrences of PC Suite and Windows Installer (if available) in the Add/Remove Programs. Then re-download PC Suite on a local (not network) hard drive just to avoid any transfer errors and installation failures:

The PC Suite download for version 7.1.18.0 is 33 642 704 bytes in size. Check it under the Properties of the file.
Download and install the the latest version of Windows Installer (for Windows XP SP3, 32 bits, it is WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe:

Restart and try installing PC Suite again.
I've searched the Net for similar error and most often it was because of installation from a network drive... Hope you'll have success!

Nokia Update Software just refuse to install

Hi there,
I would like to update my 6288 firmware but can't since the phone doesn't seem to have the first updating option, aka OTA option.
There is the second option : Menu ---> Settings ---> Phones ---> Phones Update ---> Install Software Update.
But I can't do that since I don't have the last firmware and can't find it anywhere on Nokia website.
So I tryed the third option. The Nokia Update Software option but guess what ? It's NSU who don't install because of some error. I've these error codes :
1) Install Shield Error 1603.
2) And then this second error :
I would appreciate if someone was ready to help to use one of these 3 option.
1) OTA Update
2) Direct Update from the phone menu ( the best one I guess )
3) Helping me to install properly NSU in order to finally doing the firmware update.

P.S : Club Nokia smartly told me to uninstall NSU and to reinstall it. I had already tryed this solution before emailing them.Message Edited by antares on 14-May-200710:35 PM

Were you trying to upgrade PC Suite to 6.83 rel_14.1 from a previous version?
If you've not used Nokia Software Updater before is Windows NET 2.0 or 3.0 FRAMEWORK installed? If you've loaded every Windows Update it is probably there, but is not a critical update and not on Xp install CD.
I wonder whether remnants of previous version remain and perhaps you need to use Windows Installer Cleanup Utility - msicuu2.exe as mentioned in above article
If you try to uninstall PC Suite 6.83 rel_14.1 you can remove core application but cable driver portion remains; these programs are "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solutions"

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.
Try updating iTunes again.

Hi, I've just had the same problem. I Googled the error and it's a Microsoft scripting error. Can't say I'm any the wiser but it appears that part of Windows has been corrupted or deleted. The answer is to download Windows Script 5.6 from Microsoft.
The updater will install then.

Error when try updating software in Setting

When I use Software Update in Setting - General with my iPhone 4S, it prompted me "An error has occured while checking for a software update"

I have the EXACT same problem!! I was able to download it that way on my moms iPhone 4 but not on mine! I do it the exact way u said you do it and I get that exact same error message! I was also able to do it that way on both of my iPads with no problem but cannot get it on my phone!! I called the apple store was told to make an appointment and that they would have to erase EVERYTHING in order to get me the new software!! I am NOT ok with that at all! I don't have a regular computer all I have is my iPhone and my iPad. So I don't know what to do but I really need this software update! Have you found anything out since your post?? Can anyone help because this is VERy frustrating!

I keeping getting the following error message when trying to update my BB software on my BB Bold 9900 using MacBook Pro:
BlackBerry® Desktop Software failed to validate your BlackBerry® device update. Aborting install due to validation failure. Some packages contained unsatisfied dependencies.
My BB Messenger seems to have disappeared but yet is still installed on my phone so I was trying to force an upgrade re your suggestions on some of your other discussions

Error 103 when updating software (Garageband and Apple Loops 1.0)

My Macbook Pro (retina) keeps recieving an error(102) msg when trying to update the software that contains Garageband and Apple Loops 1.0

I think what is happening is, that the update you are trying to install is meant for the new Mavericks compatable version of GarageBand - GarageBand 10.0. When the download finishes, it cannot be installed properly, because GarageBand 10.0 is not present. With GB 10 installed, these instruments download with no problem on my mac.
GB 10.0 is free on Mavericks - so, honestly, download and install GB 10.0 in addition to your current version. Let it download and install additional instruments and loops, launch it once to let it rebuild the loop index, then ignore it. The application does not need much space, and perhaps you may want to use occasionally the automatic drummer or the Arpeggiator. Before downloading GB10.0, make a backup copy of GB '09, just in case the installer should try to overwrite it.
After GB 10 installed the additional instruments, search for all places with installed loops in the system library and rebuild your loop index.

Nokia Updater - not downloading update.

Hello. While I was downloading the updates today for my n95 it got to 80mb out of the 113mb or whatver it is.
Anyway, I lost internet connection and it never finished downloading the update.
The phone is fine and still works a treat, however. Whenever I go to update to firmware v12 it does not even search or try to download the updates anymore. It just tries to install the update.
I have searched high and low on my computer and deleted all my temp files and re-installed all nokia update software but it still skips the download part and goes straight to install.
And of course, it fails.
Any ideas?

Software Update Error in Nokia X6 16GB

I bought my Nokia X-6 on 4th Nov , 2010.
The same day , i got a update notification from Nokia on "Ovi Music 11.4" , "Ovi Maps 3.4" and "Here and now 2.0". I successfully updated these things
But after that , everytime I am going to Menu->Application->SW update , i am getting "Refreshing failed.Try again Later".
I tried going from *#0000# also.
There while doing check for updates , it is showing "Connection Error".
My current Software Version is "V 20.0.005" , but i have seen in discussions that V 21 has been released.
Please let me know , how to solve this problem.

Yep I got the x6 and can't even update anything .... every time i go to the update screen a pop up screen comes ... it says that sorry the nokia servers are busy you may try again and then pop out .... I tried somthing else i disconnect my internet connection then go to update page it saied you have update then I reconnect my internet then clicked the update then it update the software and when i tried the exact pattern for update softwares when it comes to downloading it just says that instal failed for folowing programms ... does it even possible? i mean ofcourse its a free service but it should have some support costumer to take care you know ...
