    Hi,
    Use below procedure
    1. Go to /sapdb/SRD/data/wrk
    2. cp -rp dbm_knl dbm_knl_OLD
    3. vi +<Line in which the corruption occured> dbm.knl
    see there must be a corruption in the given line and it will specified with a green color
    delete that part and make the format as per the above line
    4. save the file
    5. execute the procedure again from Database studio or Database Manager
    (Note: Make sure that you have taken the backup first of dbm.knl file Because any extra entry may cause another corruption)
    (FYI : This file is only log file of successful backups and returns the return-code)

  • HT3275 I continue to get the following error message: Unable to complete back up.an error occurred while creating backup folder. It's a brand new drive. When I attempt to repair it using disk utility I get:unable to repair disk cannot unmounted

    I have been trying to use time machine on a new lacie 2tb usb 2 drive for back up. I continue to get: "unable to complete backup.An error occured while creating backup folder". When I use disk utility to repair I get another error message: unable to repair disk unmountable.
    Help me Obie One Canobie you are my last hope

    I have confused myself with the facts!  Started out keeping track of every step and every variable but have sort of lost it as we progress here.  First I quit all applications then swapped connections between mouse port and backup disk port to influence possible bad connections question.  Changed power outlet receptacle for the backup disk. Disabled the put-the-HD-to-sleep option.  Then powered down the computerator.
    Next started up computerator.  Turned Time Machine ON  and experienced multiple successful backups!  Then I started up a few applications, Mail and Text Edit (but not Safari so far).  Had a few more successes.  After each backup, I used Disk Utility to verify the backup disk is still OK.  This because the error about unable to unmount the backup disk seems to go hand in hand with Disk Utility finding the backup disk to be bad.
    Put computer to sleep for the night.  Upon starting up in the morning, and before doing anything else, I did a backup disk verification... BAD!   Did a restart and verified the backup disk... OK.
    Did a few    Sleep-bad, Restart -OK    repetitions.
    It seems consistent:  Sleeping the computer apparently messes up the backup disk but doing a Restart "repairs" it.
    =============================
    Now then, I don't understand everything I know here.  Methinks that maybe keeping the HD from sleeping during lulls in activity has allowed successful backups through the day but manually putting everything to sleep for the night causes a return to the problem of spinning-back-up-too-slowly (which was explained earlier).  Is there any truth in this?
    I may abandon this Seagate thing for something more compatible.  What's out there that we know works reliably for us?

  • I am getting below error while taking RMAN backup.

    Friends,
    I am getting below error while taking RMAN backup.
    The issue is related with a lock while trying to backup the controlfile.
    The lock is more likely caused by the autobackup controlfile process started just before RMAN process was also trying the backup controlfile as shown in the following alert.log excerpt.

  • When I went to back up my MacBook to an external hard drive, an error message said the backup could not be completed because an error occurred when creating the backup folder.

    I used a backup hard drive for my previous PC, but I have not done a backup on my MacBook yet, which I got this summer. When I hooked it up to my computer, it started the backup fine, and then my computer went to sleep, and so I closed it to let it back up overnight. The next morning I saw that it had been interrupted, and that an error occurred; the backup could not be completed because there was an error in creating the backup folder. I'm not sure what to do now because my data has been erased off of my hard drive now to prepare for the backup on my MacBook, but will I be able to use this hard drive again? Will the error message always come up?  Is there anything I can do to fix it?

    I am always suspicious of using a different OS to the one that was used to run the backup.. ie if you used Snow L to backup then there is absolutely nothing wrong with using SL to restore.
    Mount the TC sparsebundle and verify it using disk utility.
    A5 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
    You might also like to load the widget in Time Machine so you get whatever the full error message is..
    I cannot find any reference to the error code you are getting..
    My recommendation would be to try it on a different computer.. restore the whole backup to an external drive large enough to accept the whole backup.
    Use the manual methods pondini recommends.

    Use ethernet only. Turn off wireless so it does not enter the situation.

    This means that your NAS does not support the required encryption. Update your NAS to the latest firmware or ditch it and buy a Time Capsule (they are the most reliable when using TM).

  • Time Machine Error Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while ...

    Hi,
    I've looked all around the forums for the answer to this one and I'm still unable to get it. So I'm getting this error "Time Machine Error Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while linking files on the backup volume". This started happening after I turned off and on FileVault. I was having a problem with it and turning it on an off got rid of that problem, but created this one. I've noticed that when I shut down the computer and filevault accesses the TM hard drive, it can back up.....but then when I'm logged on, or I want it to back up I get the error. I've tried fixing the drive, removing the in progress file and resetting the PRAM (i think that's what it was called). I'm starting to run out of options and have no other drive to back all this info on to reformat it.
    I really don't want to loose all my stuff.
    Please help!

    Usually this message happens when you replace an external disk that was being backed-up by Time Machine with another one of the same name.
    Since File Vault works by making a sparse image of your home folder, and it's treated as a volume just as a HD is, that's probably what's happening here: the new sparse image has the same name as the old one, but isn't the old one.
    First, consider whether you really need File Vault. It doesn't work well with Time Machine: you can't see or restore individual items in your home folder, and it only gets backed-up when you log out.
    If you have a lot of other things, say photos, videos, and/or music that don't need to be encrypted, perhaps there's an easier way to secure our sensitive data. You can create an encrypted disk image via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder), then copy the sensitive documents into it. Then the rest of your home folder is backed-up normally, and individual items can be viewed and restored in the usual fashion.
    But if you do continue using FileVault, you may have to use TM to delete all backups of it, via the instructions in item #12 of the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum. That should then allow the new version of your encrypted home folder to be backed-up by TM.

  • Time Machine Error "Unable to complete backup"

    I have not backed up my hard drive for about 30 days. When I plug my external hard drive in, Time Machine "prepares backup" for a while, then gives me the following message:
    *Time Machine Error*
    Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while copying files to the backup volume.
    I tried unplugging and re-plugging, rebooting my computer, trashing the ".inprogress" backup file and restarting. It did not help. While it time machine is preparing the backup, my computer runs crazy slow, with the rainbow pinwheel spinning for about 5-10 seconds just about every time I click the mouse, in any program.
    Per someone's suggestion, I put "sudo grep backupd /var/log/system.log" into terminal, and this is what came up:
    "No pre-backup thinning needed: 4.98 GB requested (including padding), 70.16 GB available
    Waiting for index to be ready (906 > 0)
    Unable to rebuild path cache for source item. Partial source path:

    Aborting backup because indexing a file failed.
    Stopping backup."
    This time, it was apparently iChat, but in each of the three times I've tried to backup and gotten this error message, a different file has been the culprit for the indexing error.
    Any suggestions?

  • Windows Server 2012 Windows Backup failed with following error code '0x8078006B' (Windows Backup failed to create the shared protection point on the source volumes.).

    The Volume Shadow Copy service initially was running under the context of System, so we thought that ‘System’ doesn’t have permissions to access network shares.
    When the Volume Shadow Copy service was running under the context of System, this was the error logged:
    “failed with following error code '0x8078014B' (There was a failure in creating a directory on the backup storage location.).”
    Which is likely due to not having permissions to write to the network location.
     This is a scheduled backup trying to write to a network location, so we changes the service to run under the context of an account that does have permissions to write to the network share.
      Then the error changed to this:
    “failed with following error code '0x8078006B' (Windows Backup failed to create the shared protection point on the source volumes.).”

    We aren’t really seeing anything that gives any hint on what the issue is.
    Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

    We are trying to back up folders/files from 2 local drives (C: & D:), both of which have only 10% space used, and 100 GB free.
    We are attempting to back the files up to a Remote Shared File (and there is 100+ GB free space out there).
      If we try another network location, we receive the exact same error.
     This is Windows Server 2012, not running Hyper-V and is a physical server not a VM.

    Make sure that no other Macs are backing up at the time.

    Plug the power cable back into the back of the Tme Capsule
    Wait a few minutes, then try a backup again.

  • Getting error when try to backup oracle rac to another location

    Hi there,
    I am attempting to backup database to another location from a Oracle RAC database version 11gr2. Here is my script:
    #!/bin/ksh
    export ORACLE_SID=vvsms1
    ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle; export ORACLE_BASE
    ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1; export ORACLE_HOME
    BASE_PATH=/usr/sbin:$PATH; export BASE_PATH
    PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$BASE_PATH; export PATH
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/rman target sys/viviet@vvsms log /home/oracle/log_rman/vvsms.log append <<EOF
    RUN {

    CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL;
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL CHANNEL1 TYPE DISK FORMAT '/home/oracle/backup/vvsms/backup_%U';
    BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 TAG 'incr_vvsms' DATABASE;
    BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL;
    DELETE OBSOLETE;
    RELEASE CHANNEL CHANNEL1;
    EXIT;
    EOF
    I write it into a .sh file and set crontab to run it. But when it run i get the error like these:

    I don't know what i'm wrong? The location is correct ("/home/oracle/backup/vvsms/).
    Please suggest me some things about it. What do i need to do?
    Thanks in advance!
    P/s: Sorry for my bad English.

    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/rman target sys/viviet@vvsms  log /home/oracle/log_rman/vvsms.log appendThis line can be your problem.
    As this database is a RAC and your are using a service with load balance "vvsms" and "/home/oracle/backup/vvsms" is not a shared location. RMAN is starting a session on Other node where "/home/oracle/backup/vvsms" does not exists.
    Try change it :
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/rman target sys/viviet@vvsms  log /home/oracle/log_rman/vvsms.log appendTo this (using Easy Connect Method):
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/rman target sys/viviet@localhost:1521/VVSMS  log /home/oracle/log_rman/vvsms.log appendWhere:
    localhost: your local node
    VVSMS : is the service of database
    Also check if "/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/network/admin/sqlnet.ora" have configured the line "NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)"
    P.S : When RMAN start a session it show where is logged, check on logs what instance RMAN was logged.

  • Error when interrupting hourly backups

    So I know you're supposed to be able to interrupt regular backups (by putting your mac to sleep, for example) and it just picks up where it stopped... But my Time Capsule doesn't seem to work that way. Every other time I interrupt it, when I come back to my computer I get an error message saying the backup could not be completed. When I try to backup again I usually get error messages until finally it agrees to go into "preparing" and stays that way for a long time. It's still preparing right now.
    Last time this happened it ended up fixing itself but it took a long time and a lot of tries. I tried deleting the sparsebundle file and starting over but it still gives me an error when I interrupt a regular hourly backup. Does anyone else here experience this? It works fine otherwise but aren't I supposed to be able to interrupt a regular backup?

    Do you find that you also get that error message when interrupting a regular backup? My backup file became completely messed up simply because I interrupted it, and it's happened several times already. Your suggestion to delete the unfinished backup file seemed to have at least work for now (it's finally backing up after a whole day of nothing but error messages), but this isn't how this product is meant to work, is it?
    Also, I can't seem to fully get rid of the backup file I deleted; it's stuck in the trash now and when I try emptying the trash it just "prepares" to delete it for a long time and doesn't actually do it.
