Error in opening text file in JSF
Hello,
I am developing a Web application using JavaServer Faces Beta Version 1.0 and the Web application needs to open a text file. I used a Java class called by a backingbean class to open the text file.
The problem is that the system cannot find and read the text file.
The system shows the following errors.

note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Tomcat logs.
I would like to ask how to open text file in the JSF framework.
Thank you in advance.

This is not a JavaServer Faces related issue. Anytime you try to open disk files in a web application, you need to use absolute pathnames. You have no control over what the current directory of our servlet container is set to.
If the file you're reading is actually inside your web application (say, "test.txt" is in a subdirectory "files" ), you can get access to an input stream for it, in a portable way, by calling the getResourceAsStream() method on ServletContext. From an event handler, that might look like this:
ServletContext sc = (ServletContext) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().
getExternalContext().getContext();
InputStream stream = sc.getResourceAsStream("/files/test.txt");Craig McClanahan

Dear All,
we build EAR using MAVEN 3.0.4 on Unix and are trying to deploy the application. The weblogic version is 10.3.4.

Obviously, the WAR file cannot be opened by Weblogic, but why and how to solve it ... have no clue. We went through almost everything in Internet, regarding this issue, but we couldn't find a solution.
Every idea or suggestion is more than welcome because I'm running out of ideas :(Did you perhaps do something like FTP the EAR file to the RedHat box in text mode or something? Can you check that the file size of the file on RedHat is the same as it was on Windows?

Error in opening zip file after Patch 4 HF6 install
Hello,
Just upgraded to EP 6 SP 2 Patch 4 HF 6 on a Windows 2000/MSSQL instance. In the cluster\server\managers\console_logs the error.log now contains the following;
error during parse of jar file D:\usr\sap\XXXA\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\services\servlet_jsp\work\jspTemp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.portal.runtime.admin.LoggingConsole\private\lib\com.sap.portal.runtime.admin.LoggingConsolecore.jar
java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file.
I also receive this error message for several other .jar files we've deployed.
Any ideas what steps need to be taken to correct this message?
Regards,
JohnHere is a list of our .zip errors we see. Two of these files are not 0-byte in length, they have been identified by a size at the end of the file.
Also, I am checking on the LoggingConsole. I'll post something when I have an answer.

Maybe the zip file isn't at that location. Maybe it
didn't get completely downloaded. Maybe downloading it
puts permissions on it that don't allow you to open
it. Maybe it's password-protected. Maybe half-a-dozen
things I haven't thought of yet. Did you check any of
those obvious things? Can you open the file yourself

i went ahead and checkd the file and the privs on the file they look correct -rw-r--r-- ...but when i just restart it ..it starts with no errors the next time......What could be the issue.....please help
Then only reason i could think of is the size of the file is 35MB now...is this the problem....if yes....is there a way to automaticaly rotate this file ....The root cause appears to be right in the stack trace:
Caused by: java.io.IOException: Error from fcntl() for file locking, Resource temporarily unavailable, errno=11I think this indicates that either the file was either locked (because another instance of WebLogic had it opened), or that the file was unavailable for some reason. WebLogic locks files as a safety precaution to prevent misconfigured setups (multiple domains sharing the same directory and store name) from attempting to share the same file.
I don't think that this message necessarily means there is a file corruption.
As for rotation, the file store automatically adds new files as needed (I think its 1 file for every 2GB of data). The "diagnostics" file store is generated by the optional diagnostics feature, and I think that this feature has options for controlling the amount of stored data.

Java.util.zip.ZipException error in opening zip file
Hello all,
We are using Sun Java System web server 6.1 SP2. When I tried to deploy an application, I received this message: "Posted content length of --- exceeds limit of --- " the -dashes are the size of the file actually.
I then added an init-param to the web.xml specifying the maximum size.
After doing that, I tried to deploy the war file using administration interface, but received a network tcp/ip error. I then deployed it using command line wdeploy command. It worked but the web server won't start up after the deployment. The following error messages are found in the log file. Any thoughts as to whats wrong here? Is there a bug in SP2?

Open text files & save as worksheets in excel with Automator?
hi,
i'm an Automator newbie and i'll admit upfront i don't know apple script. i have a bunch of text files that i'd like to open in excel. the basic actions would be to tell excel to look for 'all documents' and to open as space delimited. then i want to save the files as excel spreadsheets rather than txt files.
i assume i need to use some combination of applescript and automator to do this, but i don't even know where to start. it seems this is something simple someone might have already written a script/action for. is there a repository of such things anywhere? if not, does anyone want to help me through the process of creating such an action?
thanks,
jill
PB G4 1.5GHz, dual PM G5 Mac OS X (10.4.7) airport, bluetoothjill,
Here is a solution.
Create an Automator workflow with the following actions:
1) Get Specified Finder Items (specify the folder containing your space delimited text files)
2) Get Folder Contents
3) Run AppleScript (delete all of the text in the action, click on the link below which will put the AppleScript into Script Editor, select the whole thing, copy it to the Clipboard, paste it into the action)
click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">on run {input, parameters}
repeat with aTextFile in input
set theTextFilePath to aTextFile as string
tell application "Microsoft Excel"
open text file filename theTextFilePath data type delimited with space
set theWorkbook to last workbook
set thePath to path of last workbook
set theOriginalWorkbookName to name of last workbook
set theNewWorkbookName to ((characters 1 through -5 of theOriginalWorkbookName) as string) & ".xls"
set theNewFilePath to thePath & ":" & theNewWorkbookName
save workbook as theWorkbook filename theNewFilePath file format workbook normal file format
close theWorkbook saving no
end tell
end repeat
return input
end run</pre>
I am assuming that the text files are the only files in the folder. If they are not then some further filtering will be required likely through inserting a Filter Finder Items action after step 2).

ZipException : error in opening zip file
Hello,
I need to create a zip file using Java. I have to zip content from a directory (sub-folders included). So I'm using a recursive method.
In fact my zip file is well created, when I open it with winrar, winzip, everything is ok, same thing with a bash on linux (unzip).
My problem is that I have to open the created zip file in Java. When I do it, i get an exception:
java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file

...This is my method:
public void zipContent()
ZipOutputStream zipout;
try
zipout = new ZipOutputStream("destination zip file");
zipDir("main source directory", zipout, "");
zipout.close();
catch (FileNotFoundException e)
e.printStackTrace();
catch (IOException e)
e.printStackTrace();
private void zipDir(String source, ZipOutputStream zipout, String relativeDir) throws IOException
File zipDir = new File(source);
String[] dirList = zipDir.list();
byte[] readBuffer = new byte[2156];
int bytesIn = 0;
// Loop through dirList, and zip the files.
for (int i = 0; i < dirList.length; i++)
File f = new File(zipDir, dirList);
if (f.isDirectory())
// If the File object is a directory, call this
// function again to add its content recursively.
String filePath = f.getPath();
String name = f.getName();
if (!name.endsWith("/")) name += "/";
zipEntries.put(name, name);
if (relativeDir.equals(""))
ZipEntry anEntry;
anEntry = new ZipEntry(name);
zipout.putNextEntry(anEntry);
zipout.closeEntry();
zipDir(filePath, zipout, name);
else
ZipEntry anEntry;
if (!relativeDir.endsWith("/"))
relativeDir += "/";
anEntry = new ZipEntry(relativeDir + name);
zipout.putNextEntry(anEntry);
zipDir(filePath, zipout, relativeDir + name);
// Loop again.s
continue;
// Create a FileInputStream on top of f.
FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(f);
ZipEntry anEntry;
if ((!relativeDir.endsWith("/")) && (!relativeDir.equals("")))
relativeDir += "/";
if (!relativeDir.equals(""))
anEntry = new ZipEntry(relativeDir + f.getName());
else
anEntry = new ZipEntry(f.getName());
// Place the zip entry in the ZipOutputStream object.
zipout.putNextEntry(anEntry);
zipEntries.put(anEntry.getName(), anEntry.getName());
// Now write the content of the file to the ZipOutputStream.
while ((bytesIn = fis.read(readBuffer)) != -1)
zipout.write(readBuffer, 0, bytesIn);
// Close the Stream.
zipout.closeEntry();
fis.close();
This the code I use to unzip:
try
ZipFile zip = new ZipFile(zipFile);
Enumeration zipEnum = zip.entries();
zipEnum = zip.entries();
while (zipEnum.hasMoreElements())
ZipEntry item = (ZipEntry) zipEnum.nextElement();
// Directory case.
if (item.isDirectory())
File newdir = new File(unzippedFilesDir + "/" + item.getName());
newdir.mkdir();
// File case.
else
String newfile = unzippedFilesDir + "/" + item.getName();
InputStream is = zip.getInputStream(item);
FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(newfile);
int ch;
while ((ch = is.read()) != -1)
fos.write(ch);
is.close();
fos.close();
zip.close();
catch (Exception e)
System.out.println(e);
e.printStackTrace();
}The exception is thrown on the line:
ZipFile zip = new ZipFile(zipFile);Do you see something weird in my code..?
I'm working on this problem for several days, and I'm losing hope...
Thanks,
PhilThis looks wierd:
ZipFile zip = new ZipFile(zipFile);

Has anybody encountered the problem before I created the jar using jar cvf cookieWar.war cookie- under the command line
I have seen problems like this in the past. When you create your war file, try using "jar
cv0f" so that the jar file won't be compressed...

Mk:@MSITStore error while opening CHM file
Hi,
I have placed a CHM file (generated using RoboHelp
X5) in the network folder. When opened from there, it is
throwing this error:
Cannot open the file : mk:@MSITStore: <path where file
is located with file name>.
This error is thrown only for one or two files and not
all the CHM files in that network folder. Why so?
What is the reason and how to resolve this? Please
help!
Thanks and regards,
KrishnaP Krishna:
The CHM will not open from a network drive. This is a
security issue. There ia a work around it but it involves editing
the registry of all your users (which could be a formidable task).
Girl from Ipanema:
If it will not open locally it could be due to the manner in
which the CHM file got to the local drive. The latest Windows XP
(and I assume Vista, too) will block any CHM that was simply copied
to your hard drive. To resolve this, right click on the CHM in
Windows Explorer, select Properties, and "Unblock."
Hope this helps,
