I don't know what else I could have done given the behavior of the service. You can avoid problems like this in the future by avoiding Windows & using any approved *NIX Operating System.
No such "service" or daemon exist on any *NIX OS.

NOREDO would be used when you have a Consistent Backup (i.e. backup taken when the database is MOUNTed but not OPEN) and so, no archivelogs need to be applied. (This would also be the case for a NOARCHIVELOG database).
See the notes on NOREDO in the DUPLICATE command documentation in the Backup and Recovery Reference.

  • SAP failed to start after database restore

    SAP Version: SAP R/3 Enterprise
    Database: MSSQL Server 2000
    OS: Windows
We had performed a database restore from the backup which was taken before the system rebuilt. The SAP failed to bring up as the dispatcher stopped due to the work processes died. After the database restore, we had run the SAP Tools for MSSQL Server but still did not manage to bring up the system. Please find below the logs for the developer trace and the dev_w0.

    Hi Guenther,
I've managed to bring up the SAP now after changing some parameters
in the instance profile that are pointing to D:\. It's now up and
running, but the dispatcher is in yellow colour. The status
is "Running, Message Server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: 0.00 sec,
J2EE status info unavailable". I did not select Java during the
    installation. Only ABAP was selected.
I am able to login to the R/3 system now. I notice that there are some
parameters in the instance profile are related to the Java like
rdisp/j2ee_start, login/accept_sso2_ticket and etc. Is it possible that
database backup that I used to restore was from a ABAP + JAVA system?
Please see below for the dev_disp

  • 9i Database - Restore to a new host, validating RMAN backup

    Hi all,
I could use your help, for any of you who remember how to do this in 9i. On one of my production databases, running 9.2.0.6.0, I have a nightly RMAN script that writes the backup to a large shared drive (this is on a Windows 2003 server). This backup uses a recovery catalog.
I have a test server, and I want to try and restore last night's backup on this test server, without touching the recovery catalog - purely as a means to go through the recovery process, and to validate our backups (this is also for SOX compliance, as this database is for the financial system).
I have been looking through the 9i documentation, and was hoping to have some detailed steps here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/rcmrecov.htm#1007514
but I don't see a lot of information there.
I believe that this should be a rather simple process. On the test server, I have installed the 9.2.0.6 software, and created the Oracle Service using the same name as production. The test server can also see the shared drive that houses the backup files from the production system.
Here are the steps I am trying, please let me know what I need to change. Thanks all!!
    rman target / nocatalog
    RMAN> set DBID 3679803977
    RMAN> startup nomount
RMAN> restore controlfile from autobackup; --- this throws errors, see below

Many thanks for the helpful replies so far, Hemant!! I had to shelve this issue for a few days, back at it today.
I have made some progress, I am able to restore the control file now - what I am doing, is copying the autobackup controlfile from the network drive over onto the server locally (E:\oracle\ora92\database\BACKUPCONTROL.ORA), then I am able to restore the controlfile with this:
    restore controlfile from 'E:\oracle\ora92\database\BACKUPCONTROL.ORA';
And I can see that it restores all 3 of my controlfiles.
The next step would be to do the database restore. When I issue the "restore database;" command, I can see that it lists out all of the datafiles that it needs to restore from the backup set, but then after about a minute, I see these error messages pop up:
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================

ORA-27091: skgfqio: unable to queue I/O
ORA-27067: skgfdisp: size of buffer is invalid
    OSD-04026: Invalid parameter passed.
When I looked up those last 2 error codes on Metalink, I see document ID 213858.1 that looks like this normally happens when the backup piece that has Read-Only permissions. I have confirmed that the backup files on the network drive are not Read-Only, I have full Read/Write privileges on them. So once again, I am stumped.
Any thoughts? I might go ahead and log an SR for this, to try and get it resolved.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

I am using postgresql-8.4-703.jdbc4.jar and Driver class as org.postgresql.Driver
some suggestions on this would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sid

Thanks guys for the quick responses.
But I have tried both the options for putting the jar in Third Party and also by uploading using the OOTB utility UploadJar.sh.
But it is giving the same error.
I have tired rebouncing the server and also Purge cached, but no success.
Just to mention again, I have tried with all the last 3 postgres JDBC4 driver available on the site (u mentioned).
    So, any other clue?
    Thanks in advance.

    S.

You are at the wrong site.
Ora-600's are untrapped errors in Oracle. As such there as 1000s of ora-600s.
They can only be dealt with by Metalink.
As you have 10.2.0.3 you have support.
Metalink has an ora-600 lookup tool available.
Please visit Metalink yourself and lookup the error and/or submit a SR.
Please do NOT ask about ora-600 here.

  • Error message "There was an error opening the database for the library"

I am getting the following error when I try to open my Aperture today: "There was an error opening the database for the library “/Users/xyz/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary”".
I tried doing Option-Cmd while double clicking Aperture, but I can't get to the restore screen.  I also tried to use Time Machine to restore the library and am still getting the error.  Is there a different way to get to the restore screen??

Someone posted in another thread that they needed to create a new library and import the old one in.

  • Error opening the database for the library "~/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary" error message

When starting up Aperature 3 I get the following Error Message :
"There was an error opening the database for the library “~/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary”.
I can't di a thing except Quit. I have restored from Time Machine and reloaded the Software from Disk. Still get the same message. Any suggestions Are appreciated.
    Jim

    Hello Jim,
I assume you trial Aperture Library is in your "Pictures" folder? Try to rename it to something like "OldApertureTrialLibrary.aplibrary", to force Aperture to create a new Application Library.
To rename the old Trial Library, select it in the Finder and enter Command(⌘)-I (short for File-> Get Info). Click on the file name text field and enter a new name.
Possibly you get this error message message, because there is some permissions problem. If you are not allowed to rename the file, click on the padlock in the lower right corner, authentificate as admin and give yourself read/write access to the trial library (in the "Sharing & Permissions" brick of the "Get Info" panel).
Post back, if your "ApertureTrialLibrary.aplibrary" contains valuable images that you would like to save or if this does not work and you need further advice.
    Regards
    Léonie

from here it is showing no errors or nothing in my alert log file from yesterday evening

No version number, no definition of what you mean by "standby database" and not a clue as to what you mean by "restore" or why you did it.
No help is possible at this time.
PS: We do not guess at what someone means by "MRM modemout stage" ... you need to define your terms.

  • Getting this Error: There was an error opening the database for the library

I keep getting an error with start up (There was an error opening the database for the library). The command + option - double click does not provide options for database rebuild or repair, just the same error message.
I have been using Aperture 3 since it was released without problems until now. The library size is about 450GB.
Has anyone found a file or something within the library that was corrupt? Or any manual method to fix the issue?

I have had the same problem as you have had, but I managed to restore. After having upgraded to 3.1, Aperture performed a irreversible update of the library. I then made a backup to a vault (which also was was updated). So far so good. A few days later when opening Aperture I got again the dialoge box saying Aperture had to update the library to 3.1 - and then came the error message. When trying to open the backup vault directly, I got the same message.
What I did was opening another library (creating a new one will also do). Aperture was now in a state where it was running with a few pictures in the library. I then performed a vault restore from the 3.1 backup. Fortunately, this did the job.
I actually taught that both the library and the vault was corrupted, and I am really happy that I managed to restore. Tomorrow I am going out to buy several new hard disks for my new multiple vault backup strategy to cope with the new threat: Aperture library self-corruption.

  • MD5 passwords in PostgreSQL Database

    Hi!
I have to store some MD5 hashed passwords in a table in a my PostgreSQL Database. The problem is that when I try to store those "hashed" Strings with an INSERT Statement I get the error: java.sql.SQLException: ERROR: parser: parse error at or near "h".
This happens not always when I hash and store a clear text String with the MD5 algorithm. Some Strings work fine others not! I think it has something to do with the character encoding in my JDBC Driver. I use the ISO-8859-15 encoding.
Please give me some hints to solve this problem!
    Thx

I'm not an MD5 expert, but as far as I know the MD5 code is "binary" meaning, it can contain values below 32 which are non-printable characters (and even negativ values as they are bytes). I think you have to encode the MD5 checksum as e.g. Base64
